  1. Looking forward to mine being built next week - fingers crossed! I can live with the lower fuel consumption as my annual mileage is only around 9,000 in a normal year now, and I probably won't be making any more long journeys through France with its high petrol prices. But as I'm trading up from a 1.4TSI Golf, I might be less likely to be using all the power available in the 2.0TSI. Because of that, I was wondering about using the Eco mode as my default. I know others in the Golf forums seem very doubtful about it actually reducing your fuel consumption, but have you tried at at all?
  2. The car needs to be confident that it has enough charge in the battery to restart. If you've only been taking short journeys, perhaps it isn't. Taking a long drive could well solve the problem (if you're allowed to without driving round and round Rhyl) or alternatively just be happy that you've got a car that all the owners who curse Stop/Start would love to have!
  3. It is my favourite, although I'd also like Velvet Red for my Karoq if I wasn't selling a Tornado Red Golf!
  4. Not the kids????
  5. Sorry, I forget you can't see that on a phone Id be delighted to hear that they are legal - what is the source of that statement though? According to GEM (at https://blog.motoringassist.com/news/fit-led-lighting-car-legally/) "I wish to incorporate LED lighting to my car’s exterior. How can I do this legally? The only way is to use a complete lamp unit that has been tested and wears a Type Approval Mark from an approved maker, such as Ring Automotive. However, GEM has come across complete LED lamps that do not wear any form of Type Approval Mark and such kits admit in the very fine print on the packaging that they are not for road use. Buy with care. Any modification, however, must be declared to your insurance company." I would also refer you to the Powerbulbs website https://www.powerbulbs.com/store/category/car-bulbs/fitting/w16w which warns that the Osram LED W16W bulbs are not road-legal as they do not have ECE approval. I'm sure they would not be putting people off buying them unless they had to publish that warning??
  6. Staffordshire, as shown in my location
  7. As I said... buyer beware. If you WERE on their hit list for whatever reason - excessive speeding, drug-driving, drink-driving etc - and they felt they wanted to check you out then it's another problem for you. Our local force are currently stopping no end of cars with dark tinted windows and making the driver remove the tints.
  8. Be aware that fitting LED bulbs to reflectors designed for filament bulbs is likely to mean that the beam will not be directed quite as well. While this may not matter so much for indicators or reversing lights (as compared with headlights) they are not road-legal. An MOT is unlikely to pick this us as the tester will not disassemble light fittings, but a zealous police officer who has reason to investigate your car closely (eg after an accident, or just for bloody-mindedness) may discover them. This would also invalidate your insurance of course. So fitting LEDs is very much 'caveat emptor' or 'buyer beware'!

Page 31 of the 15th September price list/brochure seems to show this table. I'd expect other issues to be the same as it's standard for all price lists.
  10. I will be buying the extended factory warranty, but not the service deal. My previous VW one covered three services rather than two, and seemed worthwhile, but as I go for fixed term servicing I don't want to pay up front for just the two.

Expected in the facelift next year (to match the SEAT Ateca). So if you don't like them, buy the present model!
  12. There's a guide to fitting them here:
  13. I'm assuming it won't be allowed to have the signal amplifier though that OFCOM have banned. So I'm hoping that it will still be able to receive a decent mobile signal when it's charging.
  14. It's on the MY21 car, your owners manual will tell you if it's on yours.

what age cars are affected? There's nothing showing yet on the DVLA website.
  16. Yours is a TDI isn't it? As far as I know, the Soundaktor is only fitted on the 2.0 TSI Sportline. And no one has mentioned a way of making recent cars default to the last used driving mode like the older cars did. It must be a change to keep emissions in line with the tested values - although like you I favour using the Eco mode as standard.
  17. The old version should do it I believe, but you may have to buy the 'Pro' version to code it rather than use an inbuilt app. It may be easier for you to find someone living locally who can make the change for you with OBDeleven or Carista for a nominal pint of beer?
  18. If it's registered in late September, you're paying for the whole month's VED. So it makes more sense to register it at the start of October?
  19. Never had any problem with them in my Golf SV, and as I'm assuming they're a standard size I'll keep the ones from my Golf for my new Karoq.

If it's landed in the UK before 31/12 you should avoid the import duty even if it hasn't been transported to your dealer, prepared and handed over to you I reckon, so that gives a bit more leeway.
  21. And a spare wheel!!
  22. I'm still waiting for mine to be built, so I'm relying on the manual at the moment. But I think there should be a Car/Settings menu that will let you choose the units being used.
  23. The 21st July price list showed the Scout was only available in the UK from stock, and the same was true for some of the diesel/transmission options. I think I read somewhere that sales of the Scout were too low for Skoda UK to continue offering it.
  24. The 2020/07 manual seems to me to show the MY21 infotainment systems... and the section covering the driver information system talks about setting the clock. For the Virtual Cockpit it also talks about setting the units desired which may include a choice of 12 hour or 24 hour clocks? There must be some way to set it to miles/gallons or kilometres/litres too I'd have thought. Which trim level and infotainment system do you have? Can you add a POI by touching the map on the screen perhaps? If you have the new steering wheel and USB-C sockets you should have a MY21 car that is as shown in the 2020/07 owners manual.
  25. Yes the Golf SV has been very comfortable, and despite my doubts over moving from a 1.6TDI DSG Golf Plus to a 1.4TSI DSG SV the performance has been more than adequate and economy better than I'd feared. (I've averaged 42mpg over my 5+years with it as opposed to the 50-odd I got with the Plus. Although they never sold that well in the UK, dealers often said that as soon as they put one in the showroom it sold almost immediately! However they were very popular in Germany and I've seen far more on roads abroad than I have in the UK. It's a pity VW never updated its technology, and abandoned the intended replacement for the SV and Touran, but I'm eager now to get my Karoq in the drive
