Karoqs have had automatic map updates via its Internet connection of years - as long as you have subscribed to the Skoda Connect service. However mine seems to have stuck on the August 2024 issue regardless of having the paid subscriptions! You can download the updated maps from the Skoda website, and store them on a USB-C Flash drive, then plug that into one of the USB-C sockets by the gear lever. Leave it in as you drive around, and that should then update your maps. I'm not sure if you have to be driving in an area where the maps have been updated though, as mine seem reluctant to show an updated date on the system information page and it could be I haven't driven far enough to trigger it yet. Over 5+ years in mine I have averaged 35.6 mpg. The highs are when making making long motorway journeys at 70, when I get 45+, and the lows are winter shopping trips of 8 miles out and back when I get around 30.

That's interesting. I've had continuous subscriptions to both Skoda Connect services since my car was new, but the navigation database hasn't updated itself since August 2024. (Previously it would update in the background every few months.) I've wondered if it was I tried a manual update from the Skoda website, and that file wasn't set up to accept the automatic updates? Same here. They often seem to offer a discount at this time of the year, so my subs have been extended to November 2026. Let's hope the online map updates work this time as my maps still say August 2024!

As has been said the Sportline comes with 45 profile tyres instead of 40s so that's a help. I hadn't seen alloy and wheel insurance anywhere and wonder what it covers? I've kerbed mine a couple of times in Scotland where their granite kerbs can tear chunks out of your wheel rim. But would my driving errors be covered? I'm planning to take them in to be refurbished this spring, and wondering about having the diamond cut silver varnish painted black! I specified DCC on my car due to the many complaints about the ride on 19" wheels. And I have to say there's a vast difference in ride between Comfort and Sport! On my original Bridgestone Dueler tyres I much preferred the Comfort mode which filtered out the sharp bumps but left you in a "floaty" ride - a bit like my old Citroens used to be. But now I've changed to Continental All Season 2 tyres I find the ride has improved and the Standard mode is quite acceptable. Of course the DCC is active all the time, so it could still be improving the ride in any mode.

I looked at the Q3 before buying my Karoq, and was amazed to find the Karoq was much better equipped! The Audi dealer was insisting that Audi couldn't provide heated windscreens because they were patented by Ford, and had no answer when I pointed out that VW and Skoda provided them!

Hi Phutters, My car is very similar to yours I believe, and way back in Autumn 2021 I was getting annoying error messages saying that the Traffic Assist, Lane Assist and Dynamic Road Signs features were unavailable. The solution at the time was to change the steering wheel controller - which seems to be part of the steering wheel - and so this was changed at the end of November 2021. That cured the problem at the time, but the error messages returned during the first half of 2023. This time the cure was to implement the Service Campaign 48S5, which was done in June 2023. The error messages still occur, but are now very infrequent and easily are reset. I bought my car with a factory 5 year warranty, and all the above work was carried out under warranty with no problems, Chris

I went with Britannia Rescue last year as I only needed UK cover, and had a discounted price via Boundless membership and LV insurance. But watch the small print as they only take you to the nearest garage within 10 miles! On my trips across Wales and Scotland I wouldn't be very confident of always finding a garage within 10 miles, never mind one equipped to deal with today's computer controlled Skodas. So I've returned to Skoda Assist for peace of mind and European cover. Chris

Mine seems very temperature dependent. In very cold weather the plastic must shrink and become loose, while when it warms up it's silent.

My 4 year old Karoq has just its second MOT at 21,691 miles. There were no problems reported last year, but this year I've been advised that "the nearside and offside front lower arm bushes are slightly worn" and that my front and rear brake pads are 20% worn. The shock absorbers are fine, although my previous Golfs had regular warnings about them having slight oil misting on them. Chris

According to the brochure the non-edition models are no only available from stock, so all new cars being produced in the factory will be the edition models. Do you know if your car has been made and is on its way to you? If not, you could well be getting the new version at the old price. Chris

I didn't even get one when I bought my new MY20 car, but have added two since. If the parking ticket holder is missing, I wonder if the windscreen has been replaced? Chris

The toe-in was measured as being correct by KwikFit -- if you believe their wheel alignment check! I had to tell them they were comparing my G03 car with a Karoq G01, and even then they did not comply with the Skoda Workshop directions of checking ride heights etc. However I still believe the wear on the outer edges is due to cornering a heavy vehicle too exuberantly Chris

Mind you Phutters was advocating 245 wide tyres rather than the 225 standard tyres, so they would project more on 8J wheels! Chris

The law requires 1.6mm tread depth over the central 3/4 of the tyre, which to my mind is not good enough. But mine had certainly worn worn more on the outer edge than the inner. As I got a hefty discount on my new tyres I thought it better to change now rather than wait until the autumn. Chris

Holding a straight edge against the sidewalls leaves a clearance of a few millimetres to the diamond cut edges of my Vegas - so probably less protection than the Turanzas give. Still very new so can't comment yet on the grip, and as KwikFit had inflated them to 2.8 bar (now checked and reduced to 2.5 bar) I'll leave comments on their comfort for a while. But initially seem a bit quieter that the Duelers. Chris

There are some good deals on new tyres until the end of August so I've taken the plunge and am replacing the Duelers on my 2.0TSI Sportline. I've just done 20,000 miles in 3 3/4 years, and although the tread depth over most of the tyres is still 4.0 mm, the outside edges have worn away. This could be due to potholes affecting the tracking, but it seems pretty similar across all 4 wheels, so I suspect it's down to me being too heavy footed when cornering. No doubt the free wheel alignment check I'll get with my new tyres will show whether the wheels need realigning, but I'm not sure I trust the tyre fitters to do it properly! I'm also a fan of all season tyres, and note that the Bridgestone Turanza 6 All Seasons and Continental AllSeasonContact 2s both come in 225/45 R19 sizes now (the standard factory size for my Sportline.) Both have rave reviews and are reckoned to be better than the old favourite Michelin CrossClimate 2s. Having studied the details for them both and compared prices, I've decided to buy the new Continentals. The Bridgestones seem to be slightly better in dry braking, but the Continentals are said to have a better tread depth when new - hence a longer life, and be quieter. They are also reported to have good rim protection. More updates when I've got them fitted. Chris

They want you to use the paid Skoda Connect system instead. But neither of these will interrogate engine faults on the OBD port. You'll need something like OBDeleven for that. Chris

There was a thread on this forum complaining about delays to the handover of new Karoqs because the dealers were waiting for a software update to them. This could be the update your car has received. Chris

One of the problems with the newer cars is that the assist systems are more difficult to turn off! On my car for instance, I can set the lane assist off, and it will stay off. Newer cars will turn it on each time you start the ignition, forcing you to turn it off manually if you don't like it. My daughter has an Octavia with the newer predictive cruise control which she finds annoying as it keeps reminding her to slow down for an approaching roundabout even when its turned off. My MY21 car has adaptive cruise control (which I seldom use) and doesn't do this. The newer car may have updated software, and the body may be in better condition. Will it have a better warranty with more of the original factory warranty valid? I never buy cars with PCP so can't comment on that, but the dealer should be able to tell you how the two deals compare. Chris

No, in Individual mode you can just set the DCC to Sport, Normal or Comfort. I have the Individual mode set up to use Economy performance and Comfort DCC, as the standard modes only allow Economy or Comfort. Chris

What make of roof bars, and presumably the old Kodiaq? My go-to website for Thule roofbars suggest 118 cm roof bars for an old Kodiak, but 127 cm bars for a Karoq. On that basis they're likely to be too short but to use the same mounting kit. Chris
