  1. Many thanks for this. I'm looking at buying an OBDeleven - primarily to control the Soundaktor on a Karoq Sportline 2.0TSI. But this is not listed as a built-in app as far as I can see (although it is for a SEAT Ateca FR!) Scandinavian DRLs also seem to be missing as a app. Can these be done through coding? I presume that means I'd have to buy the Pro version rather than the basic version?
  2. The Carista website only quotes "Sample Customisations" for the Karoq, and doesn't include disabling the Soundaktor in a Karoq Sportline. Can anyone quote the actual customisations available, and confirm whether it will disable the Soundaktor in a Karoq Sportline, please? Chris
  3. It's been added back for the new MY21 cars - that is cars built after the end of July 2020, so your friend's Sportline will be too old to have it fitted. (It was fitted in very early UK Karoqs and European Karoqs but removed after OFCOM regulations banned the connection to the car aerial - which still isn't allowed in the UK).
  4. It really depends how much you value your like and car. The best option is a bike carrier mounted on a towbar. The bike is low down and shielded from the wind, and doesn't hit the fuel economy too much. This is what I used ages ago on my Golf 4 when I took bikes on holiday in France. But it IS the most expensive option, and not very attractive financially unless you need a towbar for other purposes as well. The next best option is vertical bike carriers on roof bars, much cheaper than the towbar option, but hits the fuel economy more. Which is the more economic depends on how often you carry a bike, how far you take it, and how fast you want to drive with it on top. If you want to carry one hanging on the tailgate, don't forget that you'll still need a visible number plate and lights - if the bike covers them, then you'll need to hang them on the bike. If you just want to keep the muck out of the inside of the car and your bike fits in with the seats down, the cheapest option is to cover the inside of the car with a 'boot liner' type of thing.
  5. many thanks for the correction! That's saved me ordering the wrong part Chris
  6. According to this website, the Karoq one is as shown in the video above. Part Number 5E1 064 209, Price 15.69 Euro.
  7. Well spotted - and good to know. So perhaps not the right video for a Karoq 😞
  8. There's a video tutorial below which shows how to do it. It's in German, but still easy to follow.
  9. Hi Scot5, That could well be the explanation, but the UK price list doesn't say anything else is included with the extra USB-C socket to justify the extra cost.
  10. The French price is 60 Euro as shown in the link I attached on the 14th of July, but the UK price list that has been issued since my post does indeed charge £130 for the same item! Either we're being taken for a ride, or Skoda UK is expecting the Sterling exchange rate to slump disastrously!! (As I commented in this thread: on the 21st of July when the UK price list was issued!)

I don't live anywhere near Norfolk - although my brother in law does - but please warn other owners by reporting the dealer in the appropriate thread in the forum
  12. It's VAG-wide unfortunately! There are many YouTube videos showing how to disconnect it on Golf GTIs, SEAT Cupras etc. As I've said before, my first car was a 2 1/4 litre Vauxhall Velox with two silencers which was too quiet for me, so I replaced the rear silencer box with a flared out copper pipe! I've grown up since then though
  13. As the link says these pics are guesstimates based on the recent photos of camouflaged cars. Still not due out until mid-2021 (so MY22).
  14. As I understand it, there is a 'loudspeaker' called a Soundaktor' mounted below the windscreen which vibrates more in Sport mode, and generates a 'sporty sound' through the windscreen as you accelerate. Carista etc allow you to adjust the volume down to zero if you dislike the fake engine noise.

No he's saving up for a picture of a cat with its tail acting as the wiper
  16. Watching for replies with interest! I was thinking I'd have to get Carista or an OBDeleven app to kill it when I get my Sportline (assuming that it's as pointless as it sounds!) Chris
  17. It can be changed by someone using gadget to reprogram the car's software - such as Carista, OBDeleven etc. There may well be local forum users with the expertise willing to help for a pint of beer or some such return?
  18. In most of Europe (including the UK) daylight running lights (DRLs) are only required at the front of a car. These are lit as soon as you start the engine, unless you choose parking lights or headlights instead (which also light up your rear lights). In Scandinavia, DRLs also light the rear lights, and it is possible to reprogram your lights as Scandinavian DRLs should you wish. Chris
  19. It's the same wheel that was fitted to the Edition trims, so there should be loads of owners with a similar set up to the MY21 SE L. Chris
  20. Yeh my bad... you have to say "OK Laura" to talk to your car, so mustn't agree with your wife Which could then resolve itself when she leaves you! Chris
  21. The Karoq seems to be getting this too now for MY21. But one thing that has got me puzzled is the voice control for MIB3 cars. As I understand it, it is activated when you say "Hi Laura". What happens when your wife is called Laura?? Can you call your car's voice assistant something else???? Chris
  22. Update: Glad I didn't spend £400 on the option when I specced a MY20 Karoq... as it's now included for free on MY21 Karoqs! The eCall is provided for life on an inbuilt SIM, the Proactive Services (to report accidents or breakdowns, book a service etc) is free for 10 years, and the Remote Access and Infotainment Services are free for the 1st year. But it's not clear how you update the satnav without buying the Infotainment Service? Does the MIB3 Amendsen still use an SD card to store the maps? There's no mention of it in the new owners manual which only talks about online updates or via a dealer 😞 Certainly there doesn't seem to be an SD card slot for music files - the manual only talks about accessing media files via Bluetooth or USC-C. Chris
  23. Looks like this has just been provided again in the MY21 Karoqs - the spec list quotes wireless charging for phones but without a wireless connection to the car aerial (due no doubt to the OFCOM ban that had it disconnected before). Chris

  25. True... in the 1960s I well remember seeing a big 1930's Austin that had run head on into a telegraph pole. The bumpers were barely dented... but from the blood all over the inside of the car the occupants were a bit more than dented!!
