  1. by trading it in against an awd car...
  2. there are so many different ways the rear of the car got smooshed like that. so unless you have seen dashcam footage of the incident or ideally over head drone footage, noone is going to know how it happened until those involved's statemwnt are investigated. "ive never lost a wheel in a crash" as evidence of anything is utter codswollop.
  3. Im in the wrong country to give an uo to date cost, but garage rate probably around 350-500 quid inc kit
  4. *cough Our ROI system will last... indefinitely, unless people manage to confuse a 1987 corolla for whatever the 2087 equivilent is... actually, no itll be confusing a 2013 with a 2113, given the minor tweak applied then so good for at least 87 more years
  5. am i right in thinking youve had the car over 5yrs now? and if you have no idea when the timing belt was done last, its at a minimum more than 5yrs ago? change it. and the water pump. even if it doesnt solve the whine, at least it wont shatter and take out the entire engine - an engine capable of double that mileage if given a bit of half decent maintenance.
  6. @J.R. weirdly it is just 2 separate uprights... lambo roll over struts above, from someone having an issue courtesy of my earlier google search. theres nothing joining them. different manufacturers have different versions, some build them into rear seat head rests. as for deployment id say they get fired by the airbag sensors, as a fail safe, not just on roll over
  7. with the driver also suffering an involuntary "Massive Emergency Reactionary Duodenal Evacuation" or "MERDE Response".. oh yeah, had a google, i didnt realise the auto launching roll over bars are rudiculously common fair..
  8. plus, in his defence, depending on what the failure was he may have lost control, if it wasnt just out of fuel...
  9. surely looks tgat way yeah, but (and i could be wrong) it looks like they deploy on a launcher, like an airbag?? they are way too high up for them to have been at that height all the time and had the roof pushed down through them if you get me? may need to google that later.
  10. caredul now, such discussions have resulted in thread locks
  11. only had it 20mins... given how empty the fuel tank has been on pick up of every car car ive bought (unless ive swindled a full tank into the deal) i wonder if the "mechanical Failure" was it ran out of fuel .
  12. County abbreviation map samples.. this is 892nd car registered in Co Limerick in the July-Dec period of 2017. this is 92nd vehicle registered in Dublin in the first half of 2013. the "exception" being fleet vehicles that get bulk registered in blocks, eg Hertz will have a reg block from something like 201 D 28001 up to 201 D 28999 available for every new rental car they bring into the country.
  13. we went splitting the year in 2013, rumour being the SIMI boys were worried noone would want a "13" number plate, so we went to jan - june xx1 july - dec xx2 the story being to help make it easier identiy when in the year a car was first registered and to help spread the load across the year, as per the UK. so a 2012 tipperary regged car would be 12 - TS - 1234 but a 2013 is.. 131 - TS - 1234 or 132 - TS - 1234 in 2014* Th and Sth Tipp Co Councils were merged and it became T on the plates. thus, both the citigo and the octavia are both TS but the 'go is a 132 vs my 131 octy the 1234 being literally the order in which your car was processed and registered on the system - above being the 1,234th vehicle in Sth Tipp in the year/ half year.
  14. yeah, my math brain was not in gear when i read the screenshot the first time
  15. because heaven forbid the numbering system would make sense and remain consistent?
  16. isnt the engine code stamped somewhere on the block aswell? might be worth checking, just incase its had a heart transplant at some stage?
  17. thats probably explains why the interior looks so clean...
  18. it is an incredibly clean looking car, given its what, 18-19yrs old? seats are looking very good. odds of the 1 owner never being on here? mad askin price though..
  19. somewhat off topic but im getting really sick of every car reviewer on youtube using the same pose for their video title shots - crouched down, arms 1/2 extended, and a look of "wooooow, i got to drive THIS!"... its really getting on me ***s ooops
  20. my old 2004 had the same key.. it may have been "trim level dependant"
  21. mine is a 2013 mk2. so i reckon one of the last. doesnt have electric seats, so i dont know about that. maybe its feature that was being put into the mk3, and the run out mk2 got it as a treat?
  22. i honestly dont know, but @Tech1e is very good with the diagnostic stuff so may be able to help
  23. its a stupid question, but necessary.. Am i the only idiot who has driven a mk 2 octavia around for over a year before realising that each of the 2 keys have different "settings" saved for them with the car? ie the radio settings, sound setting aircon settings etc? i used the second key for possibly the first time since i bought the car last April the other day, and thought the battery mustve gone flat because my radio statoons were all saved to the wrong numbers, and the stupid beeps were back. then yesterday i got in with my regular key and... no beeps, station list normal, and started on the media rather than radio etc. i never knew the car had that feature!!!
