  1. i had a brisky sticker on the back window of my Insignia ;) not quite the same as a tesla in terms of fanbois but still, may have confused a few people
  2. its audi drivers and kia sorento owners for me lately..
  3. so i got myself an arm strap for me phone. just a cheapy universal type, which was going to make button pushing awkward for the stopwatch. so i dug out the auld crivit sport (Lidl) heart rate watch. didnt bring the HR strap, no battery for it Ran the "Winter Route" again. 26m 10sec for a 5.2km. Happy.
  4. thanks colin, Ill look into those. i just mapped the route i did on Sunday night, its 2.6km each way so 5.2km total. so my time wasnt as much off my pre break pace as i thought also the fact its a bit hillier *not very, just more than the river bank ...* orobably added to the overall workout. im happy
  5. how do you let things get that far out of control during a jump start???
  6. so, i got to leave for my run at about 21:25hrs. gone cold and dark. also, due to the storms during the week and increased flood risk the LA had put up a few of the lower land flood barriers blocking all access to my usual route. but equally the route i went instead is well street lit where the river side "Blue Way" is... not. i have to google map it to see, as i ran to the same rough geographic location ust on road instead of by the river, but it may have been a tad longer by road. anyway. . my time was. .. 26m 50sec. not quite meaningless, as this will likely become my winter route now. bp 2mins post run was about 120 according to a cheap app i downloaded. not sure what it was at peaks, didnt check. i think a thread to find a good fitbit may be needed. also need to get some decent under armour or something i think for the winter, it was a lot colder than it has been since i started running in july, but... still sweaty even though my skin was cold. we shall do some googling for the winter running. interestingly, 1hr post run - after some food and a shower im at 95bpm.
  7. so last sunday night got bypassed as we were too busy packing for our break away and prepping the house for the bathroom refit. still incomplete due to factors but hey ho. i had plannedomaking up for it during the staycation, but the roads around our holiday home were a bit too windy to running on in the dark, and... the weather was horrific a couple of days, and we were busy living out of suitcases etc and so time of evening was short anyway. going tonight though... should be a horrible run after a week off!
  8. firefox has been getting worse for about 4yrs now on pc as well as mobile. i stopped using it and moved back to Chrome which works. duck duck go is also quite good
  9. Wednesday night... running when an Orange Wind and Rain warming is about to come into affect is tough. the extra layer of a light jacket, hivis, and still wet trainers cost me time.. However.. Friday night, my runners had nearly dried out, no jacket required, and so... another new PB i avoided time checking other than at the turn to set the lap. i was feeling pretty bashed on the home climb, so felt i was on a good time which pushed to keep the pace up. glad i did when hit the grass and saw my time
  10. excellent ill be putting one on my shopping list then :)
  11. i uused to love this metric... at 16,17,19 i had a fitness assessment done at my nearby gym. the general cardio test was / is -resting heart rate -3mins standard exercise ( step on and off a step at a set pace) -heart rate -3 min rest heart rate my heart rate 3min post exercise was always lower than my initial resting HR. god love the poor gym instructors they could never figure out how my body did that. i always told i find exercising relaxing you can do these on exercise bikes and stuff, and i always got "error, results outside of parameters" messages on them for the same reason.. i caused enough of a stir once that cctv cameras were checked. no-one believed that i could do the "100 floors challenge" on the step machines in under 10mins... it could be done - ram the setting up to the max level and just hammer it. i miss those days when i do that... i couldnt run a mile on a treadmill, but could stair climb like an Ibex.. :)
  12. if one has a smart watch/fitbit etc which connects to your smart phone via bluetooth. can one still also connect a set of bt headphones to wear at the same time?
  13. brilliant. very informative write up codling99
  14. as the owner of a 2003 cordoba before my 2004 mk1 octy yes. 100% agree. even the change of plastics to the octy was way better than the seat. and carpet was an awful dirt trap
  15. does running in trainers that weigh about 1kg heavier than usual each count as weighted running? a 5k in a yellow weather rainfall alert isnt really fun. 40sec slower than Saturday courtesy of all the standing water.. and all the water in my clothes. ooooooo thats even shakier than i realised when i took it 😅
  16. id be more inclined to think the new cap isnt sealing properly, allowing air into the header which in turn is lettimg the coolant out of whereever the leak is. the older cap is a proper seal, and is holding a vacuum on the system to stop the leak.
  17. did someone in wolfsburg steal the lower light clusters off a kia cee'd in the car park when they were putting the demo together?
  18. and so tonight... i got out earlier, still teally warm and humid but at least no hot fog yet. new Personal Best! i am 83secs from my target time for the end of aug with 8 runs left 8n the month. so, i push myself for 15secs longer each night (doable if the humidity would ease off) i should be able to shave 11sec/night off the time. then i plan to maintain that pace for a couoke of weeks and get really comfy with it before deciding how to push the challenge. i may add a little body weight to it..
  19. 13th Aug. thursday. delugr of rain after a 26deg high himidity day at 2015hrs. i didnt leave for my run until about 2115 it was a "Lightness into Dark" 5k. still 21deg, and there was a hot fog rising off the river. it was like running in a 5k long steam room. no oxygen in the air which felt like it was at 167% humidity. i ran through the puddles to at least cool my feet down a bit.. it was the most horrible run yet... worse than even the first couple i did.
  20. 6th aug skipped the 8th due to family event.. 9th Aug 11th Aug.. its still dropping... that was a very muggy disgusting run..
  21. diggin the zip tied together front bumper. the colour is interesting... i kinda assumed it was red
  22. 2nd August.. no walk, a straight 5k. my first time ever in my life youll note the return lap was even 6 seconds faster than outbound as i ran the last 200yds as fast as i could to crack the 28min mark. 4th Aug... lost an entire minute running with a headwind and flogging rain..
  23. you could still potentially turn a profit on it though? get it straightened out with some diy and flog it on. even if you only make a couple of hundred quid..
