  1. @Graham Butcher The Corsa electric was in Aberdeen, it was on fire. It was a car fire in Inverurie which is Aberdeenshire that people went on about Electric cars that was a fag but setting the v=back seat on fire and a fuel can was on the back seat. The Fire & Emergency services are managing to extinguish these EV fires. Must be down to their training and equipment, and maybe not all cars batteries being in Thermal Runaway. By now any Car Recovery Companies & Recovery Yards must have the Trained Staff to deal with Electrified Vehicles or just have to refuse to. You might expect that the Police & Fire & Emergency Services know who these Companies are in their area and who can do what.
  2. @cycleliferob Looking forward to seeing the video of the cars with faults Skoda are building and selling if shows knocking. Service Reception staff might as well work in a Comedy Club. Ask the beaut you spoke to what Motor Engineering qualifications they have, or anything other than a NVQ keyboard and communications skills.
  3. How it is now 15 years / 65,000 miles after being built is all that matters. Is there any record of work done, or done in the recent year or 2? Skoda / VW,s has said May use as much as is 0.5 litres in 1,000 km (621 miles) for every engine for decades, 3,4,5,6,8,10,12 Cylinder Petrol or Diesel. half a litre in 100 miles that you red about is Gubbed Engines, not as they were engineered to expect them being lemons. or some being lemons. If the car you are looking at is not using oil because it does not from new or being rebuilt or replaced then you are winning. The 1.8 - 2.0 TSI horror stories are in a pinned thread at the top of the Mk2 Octavia section.
  4. But it is lower Emissions Skoda / VW talk about. Which was why they went 0w 20 FS IV before the WLTP testing came in. So maybe just less fuel used & less emissions under certain conditions. (Like under a WLTP Regime.) Maybe no better economy, no less emissions real world on real roads and real weather, and more of the more expensive Synthetic oil used. No Green really.
  5. Welcome to the forum.
  6. The OP shows it as a 2024 car. If the behaviour of the car makes it feel unsafe or like some vehicle from another era it needs to be into a Dealership to be checked out.
  7. &that drop with TSI,s from 1,000-1,100 rpm or so to the 800 rpm or lower happens after 40 seconds. The idle might well be higher with AC on and a load on the battery, or with a DSG when moved from D to S while at standstill. As to the manual there is Anti-stall is there not?
  8. Another BEV went on fire, the picture shows a Vauxhall Vivaro People Carrier but the article does not say what it was and neither does he. THAT IS NOT THE VEHICLE BEING TALKED ABOUT IN THE VIDEO. (There was posts on here when one went on fire, under the bonnet a year or so ago. ) Re Corsa electric. 'What appears to be a battery completely melted' That must be pictures taken from under the car showing that, not shared pictures. ............................................ The news paper article was 2 days ago about the vehicle talked about in the Youtube vid. ........................ WL22 EJN Shows that the VED was due on 1st August 2024. It was on fire a year ago, so why would it have VED? ***EDIT. The picture on the Vid is from a Vivaro on fire last year in Cornwall.. *** Last year. Geoff Buys Cars vids on Fires.

The name might well return for a brave new world, The Yet-e. The thing is not enough people bought the original or the Face Lift. As much as it is a classic and there were repeat buyers there are many fans that never splashed the cash.

The next new Model & the next after that will start with an E.

Looking on line it looks like the stuff on New Yeti is just AI generated stuff and a nonsense.
  12. @SuperbDuperb Hybrid Coolant is a Safety Critical issue when it is that. Not something they can just wash their hands of. It is actually Skoda executives you need to get to. So past this crowd who refuse everything.
  13. Welcome. Sounds like you need to go to another garage. Your car might be having issues because of the GPF, maybe this is to do with the high petrol consumption. The Oil temperature is going to take a few miles to get to an indicated 50*oC and then to the 92 *oC or higher, They should not match as in the coolant and the oil other than when both at near 90*oC. How many miles has the car done? Were the Spark Plugs replaced at 40,000 miles or so. & is there a clean air filter fitted. A DQ381 DSG is due an oil & filter change at 80,000 miles or sooner.

@paco Have we to find the video ourselves? I have looked and not seeing what you have seen. Got you. 2025...
  15. @SuperbDuperb Have you paper work on this? The Master Techs Diagnosis & Report to Skoda / VW UK, and the reply from Skoda UK stating that there is no fundamental design, material or manufacturing failings? It sounds to me like BS as to the issue with your car. Has this gone to Skoda UK management and a Warranty Manager and a Communication / resolution manager?
  16. Best just try a Search Engine. There is so much to cover.
  17. It does sound like it could be an issue with the shifter for the DSG in P and not allowing it to start. A connection / switch fault. Also is your foot firmly on the brake pedal,?. ( The car can be left in N, and started in N. Just not when it is -8 degrees C or lower. )
  18. Often it was Leeds that dealt with Customers. Now it can be anyone anyplace. Have laptop, can travel.
  19. Not my pictures, there are several Facebook groups for Macduff and Banff.
  20. @krakadil the forums global not Britain only.
  21. That kind of thing is worth mentioning, or just show your location so that people might know where the work might be getting done. You said quoted 220 for the job. Was that you converting to GBP?
  22. Anti Freeze. Is actually Anti Freeze / Summer Coolant / Rust Inhibitor.
  23. Why not just sell what you have & buy a car with 200 bhp and then if all is well splash the cash tuning that. There are plenty cheap cars around that go, stop and handle better than a tuned 1.2 TSI Mk2 Fabia.
