  1. @PetrolDave engineers are up to the task when it comes to head for thinking and feet for dancing, so what will happen with Long Distance Basses is what will happen with HGV,s and long distance haulage. Battery swaps at a stop point / depot, at places that are added to the infrastructure of a country. Like the Low Carbon Emission Transport Hubs planned and being built in Scotland. Charging for EV,s and refilling for Hydrogen Vehicles and production of hydrogen there and battery storage for electricity being produced near-by. It is not even rocket science, with rocket science you send something away for millions of miles and months or years. (Must be like it used to be on a Berry Bus in Tayside when Stage Coach started...) England will start to catch up with the Rest of the World once it can get some energy security and not having to keep buying in others Oil, Gas, Electricity and even wood chippings or bio / synthetic fuels.
  2. Flights from islands to mainland and the other way are not long haul, or internal UK flights, up and down the UK and across. That is the British Isles flights. Actually short range deliveries and longer can now be done by drone. As can 'Fly over surveying' that no longer requires a plane flown by a person, but if such is needed then new technology is coming on in leaps and bounds. Helicopters will advance as far as being Greener and more useful than the likes of the Firefly which is a modified Sikorsky S-300C. @Graham Butcher If the EV sales or first registration are dropping and they might be, and those that lease rent ones might be waiting on the newer ones becoming available that will be that. But you can be sure that the Manufacturers / Importers will get 22% of New Car registrations to be BEV,s and 10% of Vans in the UK. And the percentage will rise as required to stop the Manufacturers / Importers from paying the financial penalty for missing the percentage required. There are waiting lists on some models and just order books opened or due to open for vehicles to be available this year or into next. The next budget might make a difference to again encourage the up-take of EV,s, but time will tell. Maybe those that were counting on the Winter Fuel Payment to pay for the Energy to charge there new Luxury or not so luxury EV will now think again. After all not getting £200 or £300 into the household income will put them off paying 10 pence a Kwh or less to run there £40,000 plus new vehicle. It is a funny old world. PS. You seem to just ignore how Rep-mobile BEV,s are around inter-city on the Kings Highways running up the miles. These will be the high mile EV,s that get shown in videos and appear for sale. Working cars that people do drive not only in a town or city and or only charge at home. Tools of work. Vehicles. ,...,,..the dirty diesel passed its MOT with a few advisories and the tail light repair tape was OK.
  3. ? So should a clip on / clip off plastic panel be on as a cover until a towbar is required. At the factory or in with the other bits that get put on the cars at a PDI, or should be?
  4. Dude, Mony a mickle maks a muckle. Horses for course.
  5. There we go then. There are a lot of light aircraft flying daily... There are a lot of passenger cars or mini busses, or full sized busses moving around not full of passengers. Lots of Electric Busses doing city to city and shorter routes these days. It is amazing how the future eventually gets to being now. You can not keep all the people happy all of the time or even some of the people some of the time. Just as well it is often not their money being spent as they might not even be putting enough into the treasury to cover what they use as far as services. ^^^ If only people would bother to gen up on stuff.
  6. Real World. Not to worry, nobody seems to have told them what someone posted on Briskoda about it just being up in the air and that must mean no adverse affect at the ground. Re Old Bombers. & their emissions. Well they had a purpose, to go bomb places, maybe causing fires, & also to reduce the population.... (Should that be celebrated by those that have a love of wars and the equipment?(
  7. Yes very true, but this is as with anything. Imagine. You are not getting one and you are not part of any ground crew or airport business are you, or a pilot. So it will be others making decisions on if they use them. There is a zero emissions all electric tanker. But a 100 Km at 10 knots is not changing shipping. But then if you are using tankers just to store stuff at sea then maybe a start. As are electric flights between island in the North of the UK or anyplace around the UK. Maybe especially where there is so much electricity generated and no National Grid / inter connectors to take it off the islands and the hydrogen production from it is not happening.

It is not going to perform like a 150ps 1.5 TSI ACT then. You have what you have as far as power and the engine management / mapping has to get the economy it can. A Scala is heavier than a Fabia with the same power so might just feel a little different. Sam's 1 0tsi and DQ200 though.
  9. The sooner they get on with getting on with fully developing and producing those Electric Planes the better. Obviously those that are not buying a traditional plane and will never buy one who will get all worked up about how they are not practical as they can not go far enough or are a fire risk & how there is an alternative and more advanced technology just down the line.
  10. More like 25% worn usually. They often say 80% worn and when asked what the measurement for 100% unworn is they have no idea. Service Desk staff / receptionists, NVQ in communications skill, lying without blinking. . Workshop upselling.

@eyalasd What engine a 1.0tsi or a 1.5 tsi? So what power. It is engineered to have it getting the best economy, and it will get out of 1st gear qr a low speed. There are 7 gears to go through. S will hold the gears longer, to a higher RPM before changing up
  12. It has either got on ok for 13 years or had the timing chain and tensioner upgrade already. So you decide if the car runs good and if you want it and then want to get the later upgrade the price that into the equation.
  13. What they think if a Main Dealer is what they are supposed to follow / think. The recommended oil is the VW 508 00 509 00 so 0w 20 FS. Even though it is long life oil and you are having fixed servicing oil and filter. You can if you want have VW 504 00 / 507 00 spec used or even VW 502 00 for fixed service regimes. They might go 'no way'. So those that never knew oil was a thing should maybe go with what Professionals say. Not as they might do in their own cars.
  14. When anyone wants smaller rims and more sidewalls look at what the recommended wheel / tyre size is for using with Snow Chains for your particular vehicle even if you are never going to use snow chains. That might suit you as far as practicality and comfort. Maybe narrower, but then the max speed limit is 70 mph in the UK. As to Type Approved, they are the manufacturers recommendation.
  15. 0w 30 FS III could be used. But then there is location location location and there can be climate differences with Australia and parts of Europe / UK.
  16. There were 3 keys with some. Be that an emergency key, or an at cost option.
  17. There was a car for sale on Chasing Classic Cars with Wayne Carini. I think it was the California Air Quality Agency or the likes that had it built to be fast enough in the 1970,s for chasing planes down the runway to measure the emissions. EDIT.
  18. That figure will possibly the planes emissions during the show. Maybe not actually them getting them to and from the show & the fuel to the show that might be required. But anyway, it is not a serious matter anymore than all the Motorsports & transportation, Water Sports including sailing or any other sports, hobbies, leisure activities and fuel and emissions and all the rest. As it is there are people that Roll Coal and people that roll along in EV,s that get the electricity that comes still from Coal, Wood, Oil & Gas and there will be for decades more in the UK. Maybe GB Energy will make s difference eventually. Maybe the people in Shetland will not be the highest energy cost payers in the UK for Electricity. Also for the cost of flying to or going by boat that requires aviation fuel or marine fuel, unless they sail in a yacht.

The day delivered November 2023 might have been a different ambient temperature to today 29th July 2024 when check tyre pressure cold. @Rory Do you never check yours on the coldest of days or the hottest of days to see what they show? Or ever adjust tyres to suit the weather or load carried?
  20. The video you posted in in the Tesla thread. The thing is if anyone gets a EV then doing some research is simply Clever. Good news that a Small Ford EV is not in the too distance horizon. There are Tax / VED exempt and MOT exempt Classic vehicles (passenger Cars and others) and there still will be regardless of what he says. There are Disabled Class Passenger cars that a Tax Exempt and there still will be.
  21. There will maybe be an announcement when the next Budget will be this year, and then the next budget. Who knows what the New Chancellor will keep as already announced, or what changes might happen.
  22. This went pretty much below the radar this year. Last week. Still not many if any media coverage. http://smrc.co.uk/ecorally-scotland
  23. Lots of people do not have the brains they were born with. Just do not think. Then there are lots of people that rent a car for a few years and hand them back and are not buying and keeping a car. People might believe every word that comes from Elon Musk. Deep pockets needed maybe, others will just drive them or get rid of them. 6 years ago. Servicing & maintenance, inspections..
  24. Is this the 1.2 3 Cylinder engine.
  25. Carrying on from 2023 then. Not stopping the many thousand EV,s arriving in the EU and UK from China and elsewhere. Is it just the German Manufacturers that peed off the manufacturers? VW Group and who they partner with to meet the 22% of Zero Emissions cars are churning out the BEV,s other wise VW Group pay a penalty on every ICE car they first register.
