the truth about electric cars
Early days. No need to get one yet is there? Or ever! Used prices will continue to drop as many will not be touching them with someones else barge pole. Lower miles 3,s & S,s will be available cheaper as private sales if dealers are not wanting to take them in. Plenty going to be available in the next year or 3. Personally i would not want to be having one.

the truth about electric cars
Lots of people want personal transport in the form of a car for Domestic, Leisure or Pleasure, and maybe commuting. Just safe reliable and affordable, or to their budget. They could not care less about the noise from a Motorsport Track carrying around the area, or cars with a nice exhaust sound, or a horrible one, or the ones with the noise and no go so the racket hangs about and the cars have not even got faster than 20 or 30 mph. As for Ultimate Driving Machines and spirited / sporting driving, many just want these types not up their jacksy trying to be in front at every opportunity, or where there is not an opportunity to pass safely and others have to brake to let them in. Driving experiences really are often for those living in a parallel universe on UK roads. Maybe go buy a karting session every now and again. Or go to a carnival and get on a dodgem.

the truth about electric cars
What seems to be missed or not mentioned is that if you can not afford a new EV you can not afford a new car anyway. Or might not even need a new car. The used EV,s are going to be plentiful and if you do not want one or can not afford one or it does not suit you then just do not get one. As to the 10 out of 11 new EV,s going to whoever the vloggers often seem to not be aware of id how many a month Motability are buying to lease and these are not for business users. Also how many from these Motability have bought are going back into the car trade. They might well depreciated quite a lot, but Motability never paid anything like the RRP for them. Cheap EV,s for those that are looking for them. Dealers that buy them are expecting the usual or higher than usual mark up. Maybe time these vehicles where available as Clearance Stock to the general public from the Charity. The used car trade has done well for decades from Ex Motability cars.

- Shocking service.
Skoda UK should be able to tell you very quickly that no replacement car will be available then even for 2 days as it is not for Onward Travel in the UK or even Abroad.- Tyre pressure warning and other lights.
@Davroz Sorry what do you mean, are you saying you did not need to ot just did not reset the TPMS after putting air in the tyres?- 1.4 TSI 150 hp oil quantity
It is not rocket science, just having the correct level / quantity of oil, so do what you want to. ? Where is it usually after a service and when you top up? Who cares what the logic is. Do it one way and then when hot the other, hot is the correct level Some engines have oil filters on the top, some below. Gravity and has the oil going to the sump and the dipstick goes into read the level, cold and after time might well be higher on the dip stick. Only the 1.2 44 kW engines with 2.8 litres are checked cold.- Shocking service.
What should happen is that Skoda Assist should arrange a Hire Car until your warranty repair is arranged and carried out. Read your warranty, and ask the Dealer Principal at the Dealership why the staff have treated your Warranty Issue this way and not arranged a vehicle. SKODA_Warranty_Terms_July_2023.pdf If Skoda Customer Services are being useless be sure to ask to communicate with an Executive Team Member and not some call handler.- 1.4 TSI 150 hp oil quantity
Check the oil correctly. (that is not cold) You can check as you have and then you know there is oil. But do as the Owners manual. @ Normal operating temperature. So near 90*oC as indicated. Stopped on the flat and dipped after a few minutes. That will be 4 or 5 minutes. Do not run it with too much oil in.- EV real world range and cost to charge
I have lots of easy charging, some free charging and some errors where I get free charging by accident of the suppliers. But this is in Scotland and in places that are often not well known and I am not telling everyone about. Charge Place Scotland and the councils they own chargers is really the issue. And who most of the 32 councils had their maintenance contracts with, SWARCO. Separate from the Division running CPS. Then the old chargers council have and the hopeless response to getting them repaired. There are councils with SWARCO having a love in like Dundee. There are councils with others doing the maintenance and prompt repairs. Thank goodness though for Commercial chargers now and over 50 kW units. And near facilities. There are areas that are hopeless though like Royal Deeside and the southern Cairgorms. Tourist routes. PS. Heading to the Highlands so next stop Blairgowrie where charging not an issue. Then north into the hills the Rapids can be so the MINI is fine. Just get on the AC chargers which are reliable or if needs must a 3 pin socket.. once up to Deeside and the Cairgorms it lots of downhills to get to charging.- EV real world range and cost to charge
Arrived at MFG after 98 miles with 18 miles range 19%. Took time to get around the BP station to charge. Grid lock in and out of McD,s. Tried 2 credit cards tap and pay, neither authorised so uses Apple Pay tap and charging. 24 degrees C here and sunny. ****ed down all the way to and through Glasgow.- EV real world range and cost to charge
I am charged to 100% and the MINI Electrics range will be about 114 miles. So i need to charge in 98 miles near Edinburgh airport and it will be around 25 kWh i will be taking. Go a little out of my way / direct route and i can charge 5 miles away at PodPoint. Reliable but 1 charger so needs to be free. 65 pence a kWh x 25 £16.25 I could stop at MFG / BP Filling station. Reliable, but sometimes card activation messes about. 79 pence a kWh x 25 £19.75 Edinburgh Airport Park & ride. Chargers unreliable, cut out etc, and not a good charge speed. 58 pence a kWh x 25 £14.50 Or BP Pulse @ a filling station which requires going a couple of miles back and fore in possible busy traffic because it is on the opposite side of the dual carriageway. 63 pence a kWh x 25 £15.75. But i can not get my sign in to work, this is often an issue, and card sometimes does not work so Pay & go is 83 pence. 83 pence a kWh x 25 £20.75 Probably going MFG and then there is BP or McD for toilets. At the airport park and ride the Toilets at the Tram Ticket office will be closed and the charge time will be double. so 98 miles & going to be paying £19.75 (Next charge will be @22 pence a kWh and 22 kW so £4.84) Petrol @ 144 pence a liter / £6.55 a gallon. 40 MPG =2.45 gallon. £16.04 Diesel @ 149 pence a liter / £6.77 a gallon 50 MPG = 1.96 gallon. £13.27- the truth about electric cars
'It is looking like', is it actually correct that you can do this?- the truth about electric cars
It should be that at the Full revenue weight of an electric passenger vehicle *(car or minibuses,) for UK roads at UK speed limits and at 0*,C they should be achieving 4 miles a kWh. Any ones when checked annually or bi-annual and that have not bettered the likes of 3.5 miles a kWh should have an additional penalty to be paid. This should be easy enough to impose on Business users getting BIK assistance from the general public / treasury. It is not right that people can charge at home pay a domestic Tax rate to charge vehicles while at public charges others pay the high tax rate. ,,,,New ICE card should also be required to meet fuel efficiencies. 4 miles to a litre of fuel at Full Revenue weight does not seem unreasonable. Lots of big fat lumps of cars are going around towns and cities and rural areas with just a driver and there are bigger and bigger BEV,s and PHEV,s that are the same, big battery cars that are needed for occasional longer journeys and yet getting Tax Payer assistance to be bought or leased for Business use. MOTABILITY are assisting in people getting pretty large BEV,s and this is because Manufacturers want these vehicles sold / first registered. Encouraging bigger and heavier vehicles than the person or family need for daily use buy making the advance payment cheap is madness IMO.- the truth about electric cars
We will see what the Labour Chancellor sticks with for maybe 2026 and onwards. Will it be as the Conservative and unionist Chancellors announced and have being introduced? There are going to be the near quarter of all First Registrations or passenger cars being BEV,s. Road taxing per mile and a basic tax of cars by weight, size and seating capacity might just help to have less of the BEV,s being big fat heavy cars and not that efficient at using energy / electricity. A limit on there possible max speed and acceleration might also help. Or just impose a very hight taxation on the ridiculous for sale and use on UK roads.- First 3 Months with my Karoq
Just DQ200,s are used in over 50 different applications from 69 ps to 192 ps and 3 or 4 cylinder petrols and diesel's. 1.0, 1.2, 1 4, 1.5 , 1 8 tsi and mild hybrids and 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 TDI and noe 2.0 TDI so any generalisation is a bit silly. Then you had 6 or 7 speed wet clutch. Plenty cc and power and age of engine and DQ200 are great partners. Some not so great.- the truth about electric cars
Loads and loads. The Girl at CPS says she will check if reported. I told her it must show in front of you the repair on the 24th June, my reported fault on 26th and a ticket raised then and my various reported faults since. Very nice and incompetent as usual. So I got £1.10 of electric. Paying £5 and now another £5 to get to 100% from 56%. That is £10 for about 56 miles. The other choice asd stopping during trip and a 55 pence a kWh charger 4 miles into the journey and might not have worked and 20 kWh would have been £11 anyway.- Pollen Filter can only be replaced as part of a Major Service?
@Choclab it was not a DSG was it, and EAT6 maybe. Did the Autobox have a serviced schedule,?- the truth about electric cars
Barstewrd. Checked phone and charger had stopped. Now charged £5 for 20 minutes and probably not 5 kW. CPS says can do nothing. This is the third time here this has happened and their accounts have never sorted . But then my account is sitting at £140. Monday I will get on to South Ayrshire Council. Now it will be 10.29 before fully charged.- the truth about electric cars
- Pollen Filter can only be replaced as part of a Major Service?
They have no spare workshop bookings, they can not get the best of staff even if they pay more and even Recall actions can not get booked in. They do crap PDI,s in some cases and that just causes more issues. This is Skoda UK or SEAT UK and how it is. Even supply cars knowing there are updates going to need doing and not staff to do them. Simply Clever, pee people off .- the truth about electric cars
2 chargers out of order here. 1 will not unlock and one had DC CCS out of service. So 2 CCS available. The BMW sitting for 4 hours charging on a 11kW AC. 31 pence for it. 37 pence for the rapid. Getting 39 kW max on this one charging from 50%. Minimum charge £5. Which is why charging now and next time I will also get £5 worth.- the truth about electric cars
Odd. I could and sometimes get 54 kW on these chargers right up to 90%. The thing is there is a £2 minimum charge so really not worth jumping about chargers incase the next one is worse, or worse still will not start.- the truth about electric cars
Charge speed is pathetic and paying 59 pence a kWh for this. No price on chargers bit says 40 minute max stay. It is actually 50 mins. EDIT max speed reached 36kW. 45 minutes to get 21.10 kWh, £12.47. that was to recharge for just 65 miles driven. - Michelin
