EV Optimum Battery Charging and Real World Range
260 miles if you getting only 3.5 miles per kWh would need a 75 kWh battery. & 75 kWh electric. if you were just using 50 kWh worth of battery then that would be 175 miles. or 50 kWh and getting 4 miles a kWh 200 miles. 70 kWh and 4 miles a kWh 280 miles. No you can not assume anything. If in the coldest and at worst got 2.7 miles a kWh then 75 kWh takes you only 202.5 miles. So What size of battery, or car are you looking at? Something like an Enyaq 80 (82 kWh, usable battery is 77 kWh. Many need to charge to 100%. Do not leave it charged to 100% and sitting. Go to 10% or 5% if you know there is a charger and the charging speed will be faster for the first charging period.

the truth about electric cars
@J.R. I have 3 x 3 pin charge cables. Good quality and 2 were under £100. 1 came with the MINI. AC single phase Type 2 but 10 amp (2.2 kW) Not the same as a 7 kW 32 amp set up.

Concerning the auto clutch on DSG models...
I am not the only member on here that have run 1.4 TSI Twinchargers with a DQ200 with stage 1 or stage 2 remaps and instead of 188 bhp /250 Nm torque had 210 + bhp and 310 Nm and more. I have also run stage 2 with uprated clutches and software. After the 1.4 TSI Twincharger Polo GTI and DQ200 came the 1.8 TSI with 292 ps and 250Nm with the DSG and the Manual had 192 ps and 320 Nm. They were the same 0-62 mph. The figures you got when dynoed and running 99 ron min Super Unleaded were the Min not the Max.

Crap like the £1 for the 9kWh is again Home Charging on a discount tariff. Not my home tariff of 22 pence a kWh. £1.98 PodPoint @ Tesco 44 pence on a 7kW. £3.96 Council Charger down the road @ 55 pence a kWh even for a 7 kWh charger £4.95 Having a 32.6 kWh battery with 29.6 kWh usable i know just how much the account shows for kWh i have to pay compared to what the car says has been charged.

Concerning the auto clutch on DSG models...
You have a DQ200 7 speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG and by 2022 Skoda should have them as good as they can be. It is Skoda that have been building them in Europe for the VW Group since 2015. (They were building some for some of the 48 applications before then.) No servicing of it required. Not at 4 years or 40,000 miles if someone at a dealership says they need that.

the truth about electric cars
I know what hew is talking about because i read his post. I am talking about my losses. & then on Chargers, public DC there are losses as well. Or what the car says it gets is less than what i am having to pay from what i am told was provided to me.

the truth about electric cars
The 3.6, or 7 / 11 kW AC chargers are built into the vehicle. The Cable is taking the electricity to the vehicle. From the power source. That is not actually A CHARGER. The cable used for 11 kW AC charging is quite a bit heavier than for the 3.6 or 7 kW ac. As to details, spec etc, i know nowt about electricity. I do know that to charge 15 kWh into my 11 kWh ac Type 2 port on a 3 pin charge cable it uses 18 kWh from my houses electricity.

Concerning the auto clutch on DSG models...
The DSG get the bad press for those that know about the bad press, as the press were to light on VW over the Global Recall of DQ200 DSG,s in 2012. That was World wide / Global excluding Europe because VW tell Germany to tell the EU what is an issue. So the Synthetic Oil had to be changed for Mineral. In New Zealand just a Service Campaign but each car got a new MCU. In China and elsewhere in Asia they got a 10 year / 100,000 warranty extension. In Europe it was 2014 before a Service Campaign was started. In Australia the recall from 2012 has been repeated 3 times now. So that was first 2009-2012 DQ200,s. Then the Service Campaign 2017 on 2013-2015 ones. Software Update. & the TPI,s Clutch and Software Updates. Right up to 2018. Then still some issues since. Now in North America, Australia and other world regions you can have a 1.4 TSI with an 8 speed automatic. DQ250 6 speed DSG pretty much bullet proof compared to a DQ200 or a DQ380 / 381. Latest, the DQ381 DSG premature failures, MCU leaks etc. Vorsprung Durch Technik. Ssshhhh, They have short memories and it is only people with faults that go to forums. VW Group wish.

Concerning the auto clutch on DSG models...
@Stonekeeper Having one foot only and having done Hill Climbs and Sprints and 1/8 th and 1/4 miles with Twinchargers with a DQ200 DSG i hold the car on the parking / hand brake (not e-brake) then floor it in D or S. Not held in D or S and with the foot brake as even if you have 2 feet and hold on the foot brake and floor the accelerator with the right foot you get a delay. Fastest is in Manual 1st, hand brake to put off. Floor it and do not change gear. Force the DSG to change up, 2nd, 3rd to 4,th then do a shift across to D and let the box to the upshifts. Confirmed fastest with V-Box, Draggy and Timing slips. Wet Clutch, Launch Controls, e-brake cars different though.

the truth about electric cars
MG Charge port, Honda-e, fron KIA / Hyndia might be at the front. Stallantis right side rear quarter panel. Tesla left hand rear light area. Porsche / Audi front wing left, or left and right. So depends.

Concerning the auto clutch on DSG models...
Same but different. That being a Wet Clutch DSG compared to twin dry clutch DQ200 DSG,s. But no issue with a DQ200 in D or S and foot on brake pedal and engine still running, but not for long. RPM higher sitting in S than sitting in D with foot on brake pedal.

Concerning the auto clutch on DSG models...
Why is it in N or do you mean it goes through N and R to P.? Or are you in N, then engine off and to P. Each to their on. I mostly reverse park so once into the space it is shifter to P with foot on brake, and e-brake on or Parking / Hand brake.

the truth about electric cars
In the past Motability Finance quoted crazy prices to buy the car i had from them and would not accept a lower offer from me. As it is the cars sold for much less at auction and then i could have bought some of them cheaper than i offered from the Dealer / Trader. Part of the con that is Motability Finance and the 5 big banks that have the billions from the funds. They got control in 2008 in the bank crash. That was a cunning stunt backed by the government. Back in the day it was 12,000 miles a year max mileage or a penalty, then Ford & Vauxhall were going to pull out and it went to 20,000 miles per year. Up til then the Supplying Dealers could do a 'Buy Back' at the start of the lease. Then they put in Mats, on Mud Flaps, serviced annually and all was well after 3 years. Lovely cars back in and offered at 0% finance by Arnold Clark and others. This was when Subaru, Fiat and others not part of the scheme would lease a car cheaply to you if Registered Disabled, in receipt of benefit, Green Card, Orange badge etc. They even offered a discount if Buying, money back from the manufacturer once you did the deal with the dealer, trade in, buy a new car. I have bought and sold used Motability Cars since the 1970,s when it went from Mini,s mostly that were auto,s to Metro,s then a bit more of a choice. I bought cars New and Used with the HP (loan) Motability used to offer 4 years on a used car and 5 years for a new car purchase.

Concerning the auto clutch on DSG models...
@Winston_Woof Is that it parked and parking brake on, do you not select P? Trusting to the Parking Brake. That has been the issue posted about on here before, brakes cooling and cars running away. But then that can be a manual or a DSG. They can start in P or N. Below -8*oC you can not start them in N.

Checking oil level
Which is lovely. But for 2 decades people that read Owners Manuals have seen 'a few' and with Skoda Mk2 Fabia Owners manual 'warm'. & even Factory Trained or supposedly so professional Technicians, Fitters or Mechanics get it so very wrong. That is the issue. We do this every day do you think we are stupid?' Well yes if you were trained by a muppet and keep doing it wrong. ....... Idiots that do not even know 1 litre of engine oil in a bottle might not even be 1,000 grams.

the truth about electric cars
Over 1 million BEV,s registered on UK roads and that growing even as ones are scrapped / crashed. Lots and lots of vehicles to be sold off from fleets & companies. If not enough buyers then this is where 'Much Cheapness' might well be. If you an charge cheaply even just for the next few years it can be lots of money saved for your personal transportation buying a used EV. Or even the coming up new cheaper BEV,s as a keeper.
-
Checking oil level
^^^ For all engines other than 1.2 44kW engines. They are checked cold. VW / Skoda in manuals say 'a few minutes' not 10, a few is a handful. They advice at fuel fill ups. Then Skoda said Warm when VW, SEAT, Audi said Hot or Operating Temperature or Normal Operating temperature. Once you do it correctly 'At operating temperature' which is the engine oil at about 92*oC indicated you can check where that is cold and then before starting an engine check the oil level is correct.

the truth about electric cars
There is a load of crap out there. Off the top of my head to be avoided. Stellantis ones. Brakes, Drop Links, Connectivity / software. VW ID3 early ones. Software. Skoda Citigo iV with charging issues if not resolved. MG 4 with no rear wiper, or any car without a rear wiper. Various different models of age / build date. Go newer and as long a manufacturers warranty as you can. Get stuff where near a Main Dealer. Maybe not Vauxhall Main Dealer or an Arnold Clark for any BEV,s or PHEVs

the truth about electric cars
@Graham Butcher If really the Public are getting cold feet and going off buying BEV,s that is fantastic as long as the chargers keep going in and the planned spending and requirement to First Register 22% of EV,s in the UK and that percentage grows. Win win win for buyers and those with EV,s as long as they are keeping and not selling (giving them away.) Who is not going to be there in the future as a manufacturer of BEV,s , Fisker? Re the much cheapness Corsa electric. Not a Nav Elite and the prices came down in 2022. I would not touch with someone elses barge pole even at that price. Someone bought my car after it was bought at Auction by a dealer and paid almost as much as they could have bought a Brand New Delivery miles lower trim with the same battery. This was pre battery change and increased power models. There are a lot of Polestar,s to be sold used and there were many hundreds as part of Hire Car fleets.

^^^ Good price on a Level 1 Mini. & it has been used, lots of charging needed to have covered 25,640 miles. 2022 RRP

the truth about electric cars
Many will be looking to see if they can by a Used EV for the money quoted in the Videos. Strange that these Media Companies talk about 12 or 24 month old cars and can not be bothered to show a 2022 or 2023 car. (clips of older cars.) 2nd Video i posted. The Corsa Electric, e-208 Peugeot, Vauxhall Mokka electric and the DS had the identical battery size and motor pre updated ones, wheel sizes were different. The Citroen C4 was / is also from Stellantis & could give the better range with the same platform. Then prices mentioned. My completely standard without options top of the Range Corsa electric was £35,500 RRP in 2020. The MINI Electric was over 30,000 last year as well. £34,500 was the price with options of the one i have. There were and still are crazy RRP,s. But then Motability does not pay that and they are putting a lot of BEV,s to Auction and back into the Motor Trade, and will be doing many more year on year now as they do such low advance price offers or rather expensive electric cars and people are leasing these.
