  1. The Truth is that many have a Life Change, New job, leave a job and start up on their own, go abroad and SELL cars. They do not want a New Car, or a Used Car anything like the value of one they are punting. Leasing and renting and the prices of trade in,s is a matter that has to do with the Motor Trade and the Financial Institutions. Cars prices when sold privately has no statistics compiled by anyone to be quoted. Banks and others that lend money to people to buy cars will know what the money borrowed is, and those that Give out V5 loans know stuff. Insurance companies know what they have as a Value of a car, and what people say the car is worth.
  2. Sorry no idea about the light with a Mk2 Fabia 1.6TDI CR
  3. What a strange video on comparisons from CarWOW / Matt Wilson. Trading in. Not selling it and getting Cash Money. Trading in at the Same Brand Dealership?? Trading in and how the figures have been compiled must be interesting. There are people that will swap out of a new car after 10,000 miles, people that change cars each 2 years. How the RRP of the Vehicles were EV ot ICE the 48 months earlier or 12 months earlier is rather important. What would be interesting would be. How much more did a Dealer taking in the 12 month old 10,000 mile vehicle then take as the selling price for that 1 previous keeper car. Maybe not even serviced? *If dealers are giving crap trade in prices and you need to get shot of a 1 year old / 10,000 mile BEV then maybe best avoid Main Dealerships or not Main Dealerships, offer it as a private sale and ask a bit more than any Dealers trade in offers.* There might be Car Traders that do want to buy your car and make a smaller profit, or private buyers that do ot want to pay crazy dealers prices. After all the car has a long warranty and might not even be due a service... ............. The TERM 'Worth' is wrong. What you can get at Trade in is not what a car is WORTH. The DEALER is going to sell the car and say that is the price. What they say a Used car from a Dealer is WORTH. What cash money you CAN SELL a car for is what it is WORTH. Walk away money in hand. That is the real Depreciation. WHAT IT IS WORTH TO SOMEONE. It is a Buyers market for Used BEV,s, and should be celebrated. *If you can pick them up for what someone is offered as a trade in. Did anyone that traded in a 12 month old 10,000 mile BEV actually own it or was it financed and there was the lender to pay back? How much did the BEV cost them to run for the 10,000 miles compared to an ICE vehicle if a Business user?
  4. 'Autohold' has to be switched on. There is an option, Autohold on, Autohold off. & once selected as on it is until then switched off. I assume the brake lights now on with Autohold is because if you are the last car in a queue that doppy drivers know the traffic is at a stop. Which is why if you are not the last in the queue and the traffic is stopped for an extended time you apply the handbrake and select N. Not P and going through reverse twice. That is for those in the UK that remember the Highway Code on Brake lights.
  5. @HenPen You need your nearly new car in the hands of a competent technician. That dealerships employees are a liability.
  6. From a Skoda manual.
  7. They should take a long time. I had front Discs to replace on the 2017 BMW 520 Diesel i drive had actually broken apart drivers side. (My son told me he had the discs replaced after 3rd MOT. maybe rears because these fronts were gubbed.)
  8. Do not change the cam belt since it has a timing chain if a Mk2 1.2 TSI Euro 5. @Prezafab The DQ200 DSG gearbox might not need changing the 2 oils because there is no service schedule for that. But has it had the Service Campaign '34H5' done since 2017, which was on some DQ200,s from 2013-2015? *FREE* if outstanding. Do not let anyone touch the DQ200 that does not know what the are doing. The Service Campaign was because of failures, heat, pressure, leaks, cracks. There is no filter to change. Less dismantling required with a Fabia.
  9. Here we are talking Fabia, but even cars with Autohold not everone has it enabled. So not holding the car other than on the footbrake at a halt / stop. Then there is those that go to N when stopped for extended stops, maybe cars behind. Maybe no Stop / Start enabled. If an e-brake car then the e-brake applies when N is selected in most cars, So using the parking brake. Also putting out the Brake Lights which are on now with all the new VW group cars and others with Autohold enabled and working. (Same as have the brake pedal held.)
  10. The Scania CEO has been on the BBC news channel with an annoying Australian that presents a finance programme. The CEO was very good with info on the Scania,s and Northvolt batteries, charging, driving time directives and stuff. The Australian just annoying IMHO. 1.5 million km battery life for the HGV,s. The future keeps getting nearer. These were and are cracking cars. Maybe just too expensive to build for BMW at the time, and then the price to buy became high, while there were Government grants. They managed to cut overnight the price in the UK. Then stopped the production.
  11. @sussamb Your 6 years ago built 1.5 TSI appears not even to have been part of those with the Kangerooing if yours was not part of the RECALL, DVSA SAfety Related Recall. So a 2022 or 2023 1.5 TSI is a whole different kettle of fish, or bag of worms. The only Similarity might be how long it takes before VW Group / Skoda admit to possible issues and investigate, issue a TPI or what ever.
  12. @strett Welcome. Get the Dealer Principal to call you back and tell them that the customer service is crap. Put an Email to the Dealership asking for a call from the Dealer Principal as well. The Sales Staff is their responsibility. If they tell you tough luck and they make almost no money from selling cars that might just be right, because they are hopeless.
  13. Sorry for my lack of knowledge as i really do not know what engine this is. Is it a TDI or a TSI. Is it a 2.0 TDI 140 bhp. So a 6 speed DSG / DQ250 ? (So not a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG ) Has the DSG had oil and filter changes @ 40,000 mile intevals?
  14. @JFrankMiller Never use both feet. I only have a left foot so there is never any chance of me being on the accelerator and also the brake pedal. The brake pedal applied does cut power to the engine with a DSG. Which is why fancy, heel / toe driving , trail braking etc is pretty pointless for road driving.
  15. That Hill Hold link is really about a Manual. But the DSG and Hill Hold Assist / Hill Hold control is much the same. But the DSG should never Stall even without Hill Hold activated. It is activated when even not steep when there is Autohold by pushing the Brake Pedal hard enough. Autohold holds all 4 wheels. Hand Brakes / e Brakes just rear wheels. You can use a Hand / Parking brake for Hill Starts, even when you have 'Hill hold assist', as that is only a couple of seconds from brake pedal to accelerator. If i am stopped and waiting at a Traffic Light / Pedestrain crossing on a slope and i am foot on brake pedal i still apply the Hand / Parking brae to ensure not rolling back. e-Brakes / and Autohold can do away with that, but if in someone elses car i still will flick the Parking Brake switch, just to be sure to be sure. one foot driving, automatics, semi automatics and all the features is no reason not to drive now as you learned if you did in the days of Hand Brakes. & nothing extra...
  16. Why the water pump and stat unit last December? Same reason as now, or a visible leak then?
  17. @bobnitro Welcome. Sorry i can not help but someone will. They might ask you to PM the VIN. An idea might be to tell us. What Model you have of Octavia. Trim, Age, Engine & Gearbox. Have you checked the cost of a new one from like Autodoc?
  18. The DQ380,s were for FWD, but used in China and with some VW,s. Not to my knowledge used by Skoda in Europe.
  19. Into Park, Parking Brake on, Foot off Brake Pedal. Stop the engine if you are. Best not keep the engine running for 2 hours. Turn the car off and listen to the Radio using your smart phone.
  20. I made lots of money serving diesel back in the day when Dundee was being converted to natural gas. (How much fuel those vans seemed to use not going far.) Paid for my Moped, Car and then Motorbike. Down along Dock Street was the Town Gasometers. Just where they want to build Dundee's Eden Project. Lots of contaminated ground to be moved. Just near where the Wind Turbines are readied for heading out to sea. Not many log burners in Dundee City Centre. Or coal fires, as not much coal deliveries.
  21. @gumdrop are you saying that you can have a 1.5 TSI ACT fitted to a DSG stall? (a DQ200 DSG.)
  22. @Graham Butcher You and i will not be around by then. & maybe the grandchildren's or great grand children's lungs will be in a good way if they are not hooked on vaping.
  23. @Graham Butcher I know the place like the back of my hand. I lived and worked in Central Dundee and my pals were flat owners. I was based in the Wellgate Centre for 24 years. I worked for Dundee City Council. Same in Aberdeen & Edinburgh, family or friends live there or have properties. The Low Emission Zones are a great idea IMO. Maybe those not from Dundee, Aberdeen or Edinburgh should go bother about their local. Breath your own clean air, or not clean air. PS Dock area is at Sea Level. Piers just above the height of ships water line. In Dundee behind the water front is lower land that floods and cellars that flood. Cellars well back towards the Wellgate and start of the Hilltown flood. There are tunnels at sea level going under the waterfront area.
  24. The Spare will fit well enough in the Spare Tyre well and then when your car is loaded and if you had a puncture the wheel off the car will go in and there will be the same space in the boot. Just because a tyre is punctured does not change the width of wheel and tyre that much.
  25. @Graham Butcher The poor poor people are freezing to death, trying to keep warm burning their scratch cards and warming their hands with Vapes & cigs or rolly ups. Shooting up and sniffing any old gear or drinking buckfast. If you know the town centres you will know how little parking there is near shops anyway now. Pedestrian area in Dundee & one way or closed roads. Same in Aberdeen in the zone. As to Edinburgh now with Taxis cleaner, and busses, the tram and again limited places to park there is no need for traffic passing through. Check out the cities and see the vehicles there now and just how few will not comply. The issue is people looking and not understanding the building which were tenements with flats above shops, offices etc. There are new flats, student accommodations and very little properties with parking for private owners and resident parking. There are multi-storey car parks, even with EV chargers and nobody dead there unless they are jumping off them. It is hitting the ground that kills you! The deliveries are the issues. Not shoppers & customers getting to places. There are exclusions. & Dundee & Aberdeen zones are quite small areas. Really the important thing to remember is that Rishi Sunak MP / PM has very little to do with anything in Scotland. He pops in and out for photo ops. He pushed back the 2030 deadline for the UK, he has to do with changes in grants, but there was and is a Grant Scheme in Scotland. 7 Tory MP's with constituencies in Scotland do have some influence but not much over the Net Zero drive in Scotland.
