New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
Be aware. http://uk.trustpilot.com/review/chargeplacescotland.org STRIPE taking the payments. Issues for some. I did one transaction and the £5.08 was taken ok, and invoice sent to my email. The charge of £13.13 they took which the were not entitled to as already paid has not been repaid to me as no reply from CPS to me about this.

England EV Charging points, a proposal. & location & news on new charging hubs in England & Wales.
F in barstewards. Need a full battery tomorrow and the only rapid in town is out of order since yesterday. £5 min charge so early will get on a 11 kW AC and charge as long as not occupied as it is now. Otherwise it is set off and need 2 charging stops instead of only one. PS. Fort William was not Non Tesla though. That is what makes the difference. It is as bad there for council chargers as many other seaside / loch side places in Scotland. Crap maintenance.

Superb mk4 Launch info and video
No hidden content^^^ Great that it can be charged at up to 11 kW AC and 50 kW DC. If the Usable battery size is 21 kWh (Are they saying 23 kWh usable?) then 3 miles a kWh might well be achievable so around 60 miles, as 3.6 miles a kWh to get near 77 miles would need pretty perfect circumstances. Like a WLTP regime run, and not real world as on roads. Remember, annual / fixed regime oil and filter changes.

Decent deal?
Sounds a cracking deal. @wyx087 knows about them.

^^^^ was that because run out models?

Mechatronic unit failure .. :(
@ballcock I fear they might have. There are videos showing just how it is done. This Chart has mislead so many. Skoda. Then the TPS one, 80,000 miles. But no filter. Ridiculous.

Engine stalling at low speed (auto)
@DanielleWelcome. What is it a 2.0 TSI and Manual or DSG? Or a 1.5 TSI ACT. Do you get these in Australia? Any further on with the Dealership diagnosing and sorting the fault?

Tires for 2017 L&K 220 Hatch
The thing is I give my take off tyres to my friend the tyre fitter. So 4 Michelin Primacy 4 with under 500 miles went to his stock for passing on cheaply or free from the New Corsa electric. Then less than 500 miles Goodyear Eagle F1,s that were taken off the electric MINI ASAP as well. Actually they should have been binned and not given to our worse enemy. Hot road surfaces tyres only IMO. On my BMW 520 diesel estate with pretty wide 20" tyres front and wider rears it has had 3 new tyres in just the past year. Pothole damage. Good enough traction and correct load / speed rating. Under £100 fitted in either size. Not run flats which are from £250 to over £300 each. (The MINI electric is now on new Alloys and Maxxis AP3 all seasons and that was under £900 for the package delivered. From Mytyres)

Mechatronic unit failure .. :(
@ballcock do you have an invoice for the service showing parts used, this matters to see what was used as it is not the same as a DQ250. I would be wanting to know that the correct service procedure was done. They know which Tech or Fitter did the device.

Cam belt life
Welcome. Does this Roomster euro 5 emission 2014 1.2 TSI actually have a cambelt and not a timing chain?

Mechatronic unit failure .. :(
@ballcock was that service at 40,000 miles done correctly might be the issue. Were you advised to have it serviced then? If it is a DQ381 the recommendation, guidelines, schedule from Skoda / VW is at 80,000 miles. Sooner might be sensible. But that would be by someone that does it correctly. Just suggesting this as a possibility. ?? Who was it that said a oil change was needed at 40,000 and was the filter changed?

ULEZ and other similar schemes we are being told are all about clean air for everybody but are they really just a means of making money from motorists?
KC3 and the family and wider family buzz up and down the Kingdoms like blue arsed flies and occasionally appear in EV,s. Love the latest from the UK licencing oil and gas exploration drilling under offshore windfarms if those with the windfarm licenses agree to it. That is the Crown Estate Sea Beds that will be licensed for the wind farms.

2019 Superb 4x4 272 - maybe not 🙄
@Gaz Remind the Sales Executive or tell them i suggested they remind their Dealers Principal that a Skoda Approved Used Car sells at a premium. So if Service items have been missed at 3 years or 4 years they should be costing it in to their preparation costs so that the Warranty is actually valid as per the terms on Servicing. No way at a 6 year service should the new owner be having to cough up for missed and overdue servicing. A look at the Air Filter might give an indication if the service has included it being checked, even if the ridiculous interval is supposed to be at 6 years. If they want all the money, then a fair profit is expected, but not just punting a car that looks good but needs consumables replaced and some more expensive parts.

Steering wheel lock
There is a recent thread in the Fabia Mk4 section with recommendations. EDIT, Page 2. Maybe no need for this one to be moved to the Karoq Section or General Automotive Chat.

Is the high polluters in Scotland shut down for maintenance this weekend or something. Is there enough wind that they they are not firing up Peterhead this weekend? http://gridwatch.co.uk

using a higher petrol octane rating
Welcome. Your car is the Min 95 octane. So forget the Min 92 / 93 stuff as for other world regions or engines. You have the Prescribed 98 as VW / Skoda have in the EU / Europe / UK, except we in the UK have 95 E10 or 97 or 99 min E5. That 99 Min in the UK can be 100 or 100+ on occasions. Locations. The Continental Europe 100, 100 + is lovely stuff for a TSI. Enjoy.

2019 Superb 4x4 272 - maybe not 🙄
Never Raced or Rallied. Well not offroad maybe. Service History. Proper Haldex service , 2022. Spark Plugs replaced. 2023 or 2024? All sorted now. Advisories. No chips on windscreen. Invoices / Receipts. Tyres, match in pairs. Skoda Approved. So is all servicing to the Manufacturers Guidelines, Recommendations, Schedule or Specification. Brake Fluid changed 2022 & 2024 would be by that, but at least once should be expected. (First at 3 years then each 2). It is Skoda UK that shows this stuff. Has the AC been Serviced as they advise customers too?

Tires for 2017 L&K 220 Hatch
If only it was inaccurate for many tyres for many drivers who do not even know that tyres or size or pressures they are at or if maybe driving with a bit of care might suit them and the road condition. Ditch finder, kerb hitters, poor grip / traction / friction and control of the steering and braking can be an issue with many ECO Bias / Summer Bias tyres even from the top brands. Like some of the crap Manufacturers fit even to SUV,s or full or part time AWD.s

VCDS DSG Adaptation - Safe vs Not Safe
No idea but maybe @Crasher or @ApertureS can assist. What is the story about with £2,500. Has someone replaced the clutches or the MCU?

Fitment of Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) to Fabia Mark III
@Warrior193 I can and am often wrong, i might be again. But i do try to be up on what happened and when. Someone can maybe correct me if they had a GPF pre summer break at the factory 2018. Maybe they were fitted ready for September 2017 and the transition to the WLTP.

Fitment of Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) to Fabia Mark III
@Warrior193 I bumped for you to see. Are you sure her car has a GPF if built or first registered in 2017?

ULEZ and other similar schemes we are being told are all about clean air for everybody but are they really just a means of making money from motorists?
Fantastic. If it can be like that everywhere in all weather conditions. If London gets a Conservative & Unionist Party Mayor tomorrow is she doing away with ULEZ? ? What is the reason for the place on the West Coast of Ireland being as it is, a weather front as there is right now and moving east?

Key fob battery
No harm done to let the driver be aware that a replacement battery might be due sooner or later and then they can be sure that get one bought and available to fit if needed. They might last long enough, then again they might not. There are actual garages that will as a matter of course replace the fob battery at bi-annual services. Just from their experience of customers being peed off if a few weeks after the service they need a new battery in the key fob. Simply clever is use both keys from time to time and not always the same one if there is only one driver.

Mechatronic unit failure .. :(
I can not believe that VW Group are so far getting away with the failures in other world regions. Maybe in Australia or New Zealand there will be a court or government agency that tears them a new one. Maybe in the USA or Canada.
