  1. We will see what we see. Que sera sera.
  2. Quite possibly not. But the Manufacturers have to First Register the number of Zero Emission from tailpipe vehicles as of this year and the coming years of they will be penalised on the ICE vehicles sold / first registered so not be selling them. Time will tell. It is a mess of Government making.
  3. Price the car you like and add into that the Smaller Wheels with more sidewall tyres. There are good deals out there. I drove a Ford Kuga PHEV today. New and it was bought by the new owner for a very good price. Ford must be desperate to shift them. Or maybe Arnold Clark was. 2.5 Litre petrol engine. Lots of tyre sidewalls. Red Brake calipers. Acceleration is better than reviews show. The 7.3 second 0-62 seemed quicker.. EDIT. I see they are showing over Β£40,000, which is why they must be giving good discounts or trade in prices.
  4. Talk to a real person at the Brokers or the Insurers, Get the answer they give confirmed in Writing, or ask in writing in the first place. It does not matter what someone here says as they are not the underwriter.
  5. Very similar. SEAT & VW.
  6. ^^^ Far more info from someone that lives with the current model & can compare, unlike what comes from Motoring Journalists that might drive the cars for an hour or 3 & not even right hand drive ones on UK roads. Not so silly Plastic Fantastic looking without the JCW Body Kit nonsense on a non JCW MINI IMO.
  7. So doing an oil change. Or have it at the top of cross hatch when hot. Area A is above the cross hatch. It might be an oil user. Maybe why it was up for sale. So get in enough oil and see. Are you running Super Unleaded petrol, 98 ron or above? Just being nosy. ? What country are you in, and what is the weather / temperature like now? How far are your trips daily?
  8. ^^^^ Which means. From a Service be sure the correct quantity of oil is in the engine. From that point checking is easier, and oil use might be as it should. Many use no oil. MIDDLE, was low oil was it not, who serviced it and how much oil was used, and was it at the middle when checked from the Oil & Filter change.
  9. Plenty earlier 1.8TSI,s have had oil consumption issues. Euro 5 emission, 1.2, 1.4 & 1.8 TSI & 2.0 TSI.s. But first you need to check. That fo an oil consumption test is a Oil & Filter Change, then oil dropped and weighed then the car driven and then then oil dropped and weighed. Pillocks at Dealerships even though 1 litre of oil weighed 1,000 gram. So they were as much use as a Chocolate Fire Guard. 857 grams a litre at 15*oC. .................... Top example. For some reason they try to blame the concerned car owner for messing up the test by putting in Oil. Cretins. Bottom example done by an idiot. *Members got new engines when pointed out that the TECHNICIANS are not fit for purpose and actual oil use was not within any acceptable limits.* Out of Warranty, just do your own checks IMO. (Personally i would forget the VW 504 00 / 507 00 long life oil, 0w 30 FS III or 5w 30 FS III and run the engine Fixed Oil & Filter services and use VW502 00 , so 5w 40 FS.)
  10. Just A FEW MINUTES, for the 90*oC sort of heat of oil to get back to the sump. Checking when Filling a fuel tank type of time that VW have gone with for decads. Only the 1.2 44 kW engines checked cold, and they only have 2.8 litres of oil as a capacity. Yes it is all a bit OCD. But it is VW Group with hard to read dip sticks with fresh oil in a Petrol Engine. Be sure enough in when hot, then when cold you can see where that is on a dipstick. Then before heading off you check, like in the old days, car full of nearest and dearest you are maybe not stopping until you get where you are going. THIS IS JUST TO BE SURE YOU ARE RUNNING WITH ENOUGH OIL. Not an answer to if using TOO MUCH OIL. But you need to run at full oil capacity to check if you are burning oil. Using too much. Running 1/3 or 1/4 low has the oil working harder. Not doing the cooling as much as at the correct level.
  11. If it is Corrida Red then it is 8151 (Same, F3K or 8T8T) ? As posted, VIN or REGISTRATION to get the Paint Code. New mixed paint is not going to match as your red is now 17 years on from when painted unless you can get the paint on back to the brightness it was.
  12. Houses in England have been built to so poor standards and with a lack of insulation before and since the 1970,s. They still are. Decades of Billions spent on adverts and insulate home schemes, and 6 or 7 decades on there are homes not insulated from being built in the 50s 60s . These poor old people in un-insulated houses were young once, were they ignoring the adverts, grants etc, or was it just lots of these schemes were a con, job creation and wealth creation for directors. Then Westminster was busy ensuring that the Treasury and England would be sure of the wealth from the North Sea being theirs. The greed and lying and cheating is just how they roll.
  13. The UK does have gas, not lots to last for a few generations, and not for the greed of England. Same with Oil & Electricity. Start generating enough for England and when there needs to be importations for England let customers in England pay extra, and for the cost of nuclear and cleaning up the Nuclear that provided electricity cheap enough for past generations. Get up your Small Modular Nuclear, the Pylons, the Substations, the Wind Farms and Solar. Maybe be a bit more efficient and even less wasteful and polluting. There was a vote swung for Brexit by voters in England. Take back control then. Spoil your own scenery and countryside and stop expecting the RoUK to do it on your behalf. Not only is the National Grid not UK owned, neither are the sea ports or shipping. An island nation that might have cleaner air due to location yet has polluting electricity generating. Polluting Petrol Chemical plants, Refineries and Cracking plants. Less of those though, and soon no Energy Security, or Transportation Fuel Security. What a state of a Nation. England mostly. Lacking natural resources. PS Westminster has sold the licences for Exploration and then getting out the oil and gas to anyone and everyone and it is their Oil & Gas to sell. It is not the UK,s. Then there is the Sea Bed that is the Crown Estate,s. So money does come into the UK, to be spent wastefully often.
  14. Maybe the EU and the UK and USA should be just making the personal transport vehicle have to be as Efficient in there manufacturing and their functioning as possible. The Euro 7 emission introduction is pushed back. It really is about the lack of attempts at the Big manufacturers building smaller and lighter vehicles and still making profits. As it is BMW are partnered with a Chinese Manufacturer for their BEV, that are for the EU and UK. Not to have them selling cheaper, just built more cheaply and making more profits.
  15. Does the1.5tsi DSG come in all those trim levels? Because really that is what the OP is concerned about. 1.0 TSI is never going to the track is it? But then is a 1.5TSI ?
  16. The EU want to do the same because they want to be Green but forgot that they actually do not have the Materials for Batteries and even building cars from within the EU or Europe, or the bit of Europe that Putin does not control or is trying to take over. Then as it is they do not have enough of the energy in the way of Gas, Oil or Electricity to run the factories or the vehicles already on the roads without it coming from outwith the EU. China and much cheapness products has been suiting customers but obviously not Manufacturers in the EU and the Governments that these hugely wealthy industries have spent spent spent on pretending to be green.
  17. It is not a 'Warm check'. It is at the Normal Operating Temperature. (Hot) when you have the oil level correct when at Operating Temperature, You then can know where it is once cold, and before driving places. If you open the bonnet, and even put in no oil the warning goes off for 100 km. So be aware putting in only 0.5 litres might nit be whey the light is off. DO NOT OVER FILL THOUGH. 0.5 first, then maybe 0,25 next could be enough. or maybe another 0.25 top up might be needed.
  18. Welcome, When a Low OIl Warning Light or Message comes on then putting 0.5 litres of oil in will still likely be 0.5 litres low. As it is middle of the Cross Hatch is running the oil lowish. So with the engine and oil at Operating Temperature, so the indicated 90*oC or so get the oil filled to the top of the Cross Hatch are so that it is in area A.
  19. Rear drums would be fine. 150 ps. Performance might be quicker ,0-62 mph, but you do not brake while accelerating so if you drive faster than the 60 or 70 mph that you might in 95 or 115 ps car are you always on the brakes? Are you driving fast mountain passss and always on the brakes,? The car might be a bit heavier but the Drums in the rear work. As it is Skoda disk brakes are crap. A heavier MK2 vRS has discs on the rear. Hopeless brakes that rust easily. It would make no difference to me if drums. I used the gears of the semi automatic DSG not the brakes. If it is about the look. Well little rear discs on the rear are hardly impressive.
  20. @VWD Is that a typo and actually 4 litres of VW505.1 ?
  21. Gone is the option of having them fitted to 1.0TSI,s for Β£100. Not that they are still standard on 1.5 TSI DSG,s.
  22. " Disc brakes standard on the rear of the 1.5 TSI DSG."
  23. @Gaz Is the insurance actually 'much cheapness' on it, or much of a muchness?
  24. There were posts here this week of failing belts. Belts are for life not just for Christmas, but then when they fail, life is over. If only Tensioners were also as long lived as belts. If only everything in life was as reliable as a Golf, the world would be in a tight state.
  25. You had to admit to the offence and accept points and fine. No court involved, but you have to inform your insurers. Admit the offence and accept the course, no court and no need to inform the insurance. Pith take really. Ex Chief Constables Directors of Speed Awareness Courses Companies. No Speed Awareness Course offers in Scotland because no courses.
