Servicing - Definitive Answers
They can if they want do what you can. Ask the Dealership / Approved Repairers to print out what your car shows for @ 2 years. That will be OIl Inspection Service, it might have Pollen Filter on it, it might have Brake Fluid, but that can probably be treated like AC Service. Not required actually, just advised. Extended Scope is first at 3 years.

the truth about electric cars
They can run Bin Lorries and Busses and Vans up in Aberdeen & in Fife because there is lots of electricity from wind farms not getting used into the National Grid and Hydrogen can be produced, same on the Northern Islands for shipping, and soon at the Green Freeport @ Nigg. If England was to have the infrastructures in place then there will be plenty of Hydrogen. Then Baron Bamford and JCB will be laughing even more than now as will his son and his Hydrogen Company and Hydrogen Bus builders.

Servicing - Definitive Answers
@Dranny I showed a Skoda Chart that is the guidance. You say you want to service it properly. Not a definitive guide there, because there is just the T&C,s you have signed up to that matters. There are Service Plans where all is not done and Skoda Approved Used Cars with Full Main Dealer Service Histories that have not had everything done to the Recommendations, Guidelines, Spec or Schedules.

Servicing - Definitive Answers
Welcome. Follow Skoda Advice if you want to actually spend money and do it properly then. If you use an Independent i would expect that they need to be one that can put the Service on the online system. ? How many miles has it done? If it has not been serviced in the 2 years then a Oil & Filter & Inspection service is due at 24 months or 18,000-20.000 miles. Brake Fluid has been changed to @ 2 years, it was at 3 years first. Not compulsory. Pollen filter is at 2 years. Never been Compulsory. It is a crazy price for the Dealer doing the pollen filter, just do it and keep the receipt. That is the Fixed Service Regime. The Difference with Flexible / Variable will be that the Oil Service at 1 year was not done.

Any one from New Zealand here?
@Gerrycan The Oil & hotter & humid climes stuff from VW concerning the DQ200 was guff. There are climates in Europe that can be much like in NZ where all the 'few hundred' vehicles got a new MCU. After 2012 on came the issue that needed '34H4' because of heat / pressure and leaking DSG,s 2013-2015. That Recalls are repeated in Australia and are up to 2016 on some DQ200,s. The 1.4 TSI with a 8 speed Automatic in North America, NZ, Australia and other World Regions are because they are not in Europe / EU where they would not be anygood for the VW Group and WLTP / RDE2 figures. A Great engine / gearbox combination though. Here they had to have the 1.4 TSI with ACT, and now a 1.4 TSI as a PHEV to get the emission figures. Before the WLTP came in the emissions testing of 1.4 TSI,s even as a plug in were 'Implausable'. Fuddle not Fiddle according to VW group. As to DQ200,s and 1.5 TSI,s so after 2016, still some issues. 2015 - 2018, some with issues, Software Updates and Clutch Updates were carried out. (VW Group have DQ200,s in 2.0 TDI,s but only ones with a max 115 ps)

EV real world range and cost to charge
^^^ You obviously never followed my Corsa electric charging & now my Mini and times and capacities. Some people know the cost of every vehicles fuelling and trips and weather conditions, seasons and years. I know exactly how much energy i put in, the cost of every penny worth of energy. The cost of things and the value of them. & charging speeds. The reason being it is my money & i do the miles not calculate them and get it wrong like reviewers.

EV real world range and cost to charge
When i got back after 6 miles i had gone from 100% to 95%. Plugged in the 3 pin cable and went 95% to 100 % in 40 minutes. That took 3 kWh @ 22 pence. 66 pence for 6 miles. Sitting watching Fifth Gear Recharge. The have the Kia EV 6 GT going 1,000 miles in 24 hours. They said they had 13% left and 15 km range. Well that does not make sense. When a 30kWh Battery has near 1 mile for each 1%. !00% = 100 miles. So with a battery more than double the size, 77.4 kWh how could 13% only have a range of 15 km / 9.3 miles. 13% should be 2 1/2 times more energy in their battery should it not? Fifth Gear Recharge on Quest +1 will be starting in 5 minutes. EDIT. They have 4 % and 17 miles at the end. More like it. Left with 3%. Well that is not an issue with a 77 kWh battery. 11 km. But that is only just under 7 miles. If i had 3% i would be touching cloth.

Out of interest. Has anyone that has theirs set like that had a Fail at a MOT / Annual Inspection. Or TAXI Inspections.

Assist systems not working
H2o / water when driving or washing cars is to be expected. So regardless of the equipment being behind the windscreen or at the front grill being able to cope. It is not Snow or Ice or mud or leaves / crisp packets.

CZDA engine increasing fuel consumption at higher speeds
My step daughters husband in Hungary runs a 2.0 TDI Mk3 Octavia Estate and has had nothing but bother with it. They just got a newer 2nd car and he is now using it rather than the Octavia. A Renault Capture.

& they are fabulous. But the wet clutch ones have the same oil in the box and the ECU and really changing a filter seems to be just 'Simply Clever' and 40,000 miles oil changes. (Audi say 38,000 miles.) The 80,000 Schedule on DQ381,s are making no differences because MCU,s have needed to be replaced on more and more long before even 40,000 miles has been covered. Plenty people offering MCU repairs rather than Replacement. Lets see in the coming years if VW have yet again ba-llsed things up.

@Jackyy Welcome. Good that there was someone at the dealers that was not Blind. Usually they have never seen or heard of things. (Or they all do that.) What did this person say they were doing as far as dealing with Skoda in your country or CZ about this Fundamental Design, Manufacturing or Material Fault even though the Manufacturers Warranty has expired?

Can the intervention time of lane assist be changed?
As it is the lane assist should only be operational above 60 kph / 37 mph. Just switch it off if you like to move about the road / lanes when going faster than that, or you do not want to indicate if doing lane changes.

Any one from New Zealand here?
@HenryNZ Thanks. So the Salesman needs to 'Phone a friend', and DSG,s have never had servicing Schedules , Guidelines, Recommendations or Advice on Servicing by time. It was just Service Charts that lead people to think of at 4 years / 40,000 miles / 60,000 km.

the truth about electric cars
Exactly. As Dundee did. with EV,s. Free parking and charging at Council Car parks, and elsewhere. Those days are gone. Also happens to be seemingly Drug Death Capital of Europe. Maybe some of those with Money to Launder put money in Taxi Businesses and Night Clubs, Football Clubs and Karting Tracks, Care Homes etc. After all the Tyre & Exhaust Centres and Car Dealerships were where they had done it for decades. Scotland leads the way in Organised Crime & Drugs. Scotland wide that is. Maybe just Dundee learns fast then gets on with things.... Not that those at the top drive EV,s. , well not unless that are under a the Coat of Invisibility. Too easily tracked remotely. But then just move stuff about in the commercial Cars & Vans. Fast Food, Home Deliveries, Boiler Servicing etc. House to House deliveries. Local Authorities should lead the way. Government Agencies should be the first to be Greener.

the truth about electric cars
There are comparisons aplenty on running BEV,s and ICE vehicles. But i was doing Man Maths based on the Video that was posted. Early Adopters were often Taxi,s and those getting a Nissan Leaf from Motability and then Business Users. They were getting BEV,s 10 years ago. Some still have those vehicles. Not off road parking, Work Place parking, so yes at a workplace, or free charging. I did 60,000 miles in 3 years for £1,200 and never got that car until August 2020. But there was Free Rapid charging for lots of Scotland for the first 2 years. England can keep putting in chargers, but maybe start generating enough electricity and not needing to import as much.

Any one from New Zealand here?
@HenryNZ Either VW / Skoda have changed the Schedule / Guidelines for Oil Changes of DQ381, or who gave you the information does not know what a DQ381 DSG is and is going by the Servicing of DQ250,s or DQ400-e,s http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/514055-karoq-7-speed-dsg-fault-4x4 This is an issue with people and places that customers trust to get accurate information from and servicing and maintenance. Always get stuff in writing and their name and job title, and signed,

the truth about electric cars
@Winston_Woof @Graham Butcher He was comparing with a M5 and it's mpg. He was just a bit low on the guestimate of the electricity cost even if he had done 1,000 miles of home charging. & if he had Home Charged 1,000 miles worth on a 7 kW charger that would hae been about 50 hours charging. 3,500 miles with 30 mpg Super Unleaded 117 gallons. (4.546 litre to a gallon) 532 litres @ 151 pence. £833. He said 25-27 mpg, etc etc In a 520 D Estate i am getting 45-55 mpg. Diesel price a bit more than Unleaded or Super Unleaded. In a MINI Electric i am getting 3.1 - 3.6 miles a kWh and mostly Home Charging. But Public Charging it is cheaper in the Diesel. That is because i only get 100 miles of my cheap electricity when heading further and doing 300 - 450 miles. MFG Chargers is just 60 pence a kWh rather than 75 would be fantastic, but then maybe busier and then that is an issue. The 20% VAT that private users can not claim back makes quite a difference.

the truth about electric cars
Lets do man maths. There was the 3,500 miles. Well lets say it does 3 miles to the kWh for 3,000 miles of public charging @ MFG. 75 pence a kWh. =1,000 kWh, £750. 84.4 kWh, usable 81.2 kWh x 3 = 253.2 miles. 81.2 x 3.5 = 284.2 miles. Winter range tests have been saying 3.1 miles a kWh. *only 215 miles. 2.6 miles to a kWh. & 80 kWh charging and paying 75 pence a kWh is £60.00 *

If i was to be getting another EV in 2 years which i doubt i will, it would very likely be one of these, just because i like how it looks.

the truth about electric cars
Good information from him. Rather important is to understand that even the biggest battery BMW i3,s max charge speed is 49kW. So these Rapid + and Ultra Rapid charger were not important to his journey or any charging, any 50kW Rapid would do, and some have only a 7 kW AC onboard charger and some a 11 kW. The Battery is 42.2 kWh, Useable 37.9 kWh. Lets say 38 kWh, well 3.8 miles a kWh takes you 144.4 miles. To go 165 miles it would be 4.3 miles a kWh. 180 needs to be 4.7 miles a kWh. 188 miles even from 40 kWh needs to be getting 4.7 miles a kWh.

Approved Used SE First Edition : Problems
I have lost where i have saved the Complete Copy of their list of Checks. It is a p!th take though. Someone might have it to post before i find it. The OP should ask for the copy for the vehicle. & DATA Protection does not stop them giving it. They can hide the Tech / Fitters name that signed off the car. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/443226-skoda-approved-multi-point-check/page/2

Oil - Quantum Platinum for servicing ?
Sounds like a plan. Nothing inferior about them.

Any one from New Zealand here?
Totally different then. Sadly if a DQ381 7 Speed Wet Clutch with the RS the Service Schedule is at 80,000 still according to VW Group. That might be reduced considering the growing number have issues with these DSG, particularly the MCU,s. Time will tell. As long as the Warranty is covering it. If anyone at a dealers says never heard of issues that might be because they are deaf. You do get treated better in NZ than the Rest of World. Back in 2012 when there was a Global Recall on DQ200,s and that Excluded Europe as VW tell Europe what to do, there was a Recall / Service Campaign in NZ and all cars with a DQ200 got new MCU,s. Rest of World, Synthetic oil change to mineral and a software update. So regions a 10 year / 100,000 mile warranty. EU / UK / Europe, nowt till 2014 & that was not a Recall, just a service campaign, Oil & Software. No Warranty extension.
