  1. Strange. because 'They' claim the Ford e-Transit with a 67 kWh battery will do up to 350 kM / 217 miles on a single charge. Simples they give km for those in countries that use km & not miles. They do not do that, but if making a point then make it well. 260 km to miles is 161.557 miles. If they are doing 160 km only then that would be less than 100 miles. 180 km / 112 miles, Maybe true. Probably realistic. If you can read the numbers correctly. That would be more than 1.5 miles to the kWh with a 67 kWh battery. Pod point shows official range as 196 miles, and confident range 167 miles. But then you need to go by which e-Transit they actually are showing.
  2. That's how it was right enough. But nothing to do with actual MOT tests. Just getting a certificate when you did get certificates. Plenty got actual certificates from MOT centres when the vehicle was never at that test station. Or was and nothing in the tail pipe of that vehicle for the emissions test. But then that still happens.
  3. Not the best of ways when parking on anything less than flat as there is a strain on the Pawl in the DSG. Actually applying the Parking Brake is quite common for some before putting i P so that it is not held by the pawl before the hand / parking brake operates. Being a DSG there is Hill Hold Assist / Control to hold it a couple of seconds as the foot goes from brake pedal to accelerator. Each to their own though. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/522689-learn-how-to-drive-an-auto-including-what-neutral-does-more-driving-tips
  4. @gm73 Was your engine low on oil when you collected it from the people that were doing the 'Health Check'?
  5. @gm73 Is that some sort of good thing that your brake fluid has never had and H2o in it, or you were not aware of it and never any brake fade or overheating? Maybe because of where you use your car, park and drive. People might never change oil and filters or automatic gearbox oil and never have a problem. It is not advised though is it? Coolant never checked for strength is not unusual and maybe never an issue, unless it has maybe been topped up lots with just H2o and then there is very cold conditions. Or there is no longer enough rust inhibitor left in the engine. Servicing is advice is general stuff for many different people in many different climates and locations. Some people know that Servicing and maintenance saves money in the long run. Like Fleet Operators, Taxi Firms etc.
  6. @310golfr you are not the OP though, so what you do is not what everyone does. It has never amazed me where people do not service or inspect cars before MOT,s Saying that when i used to buy them at auction or privately or take in trade ins they went for a MOT first, got the pass or fail & advisories then got the work done. But that is who it gets done often in the Motor Trade, or with traders. Leave the professional to do the poking and prodding, & nice and easy.
  7. The fundamental design, manufacturing and materials and software issues / components and consumables caused the reason for people doing things that cost no extra to try and if worked then good. The Engineers were doing little in the way of giving advice, and as for mechanics, they were the cause of so much issues saying the oil use was within tolerances when they were nothing like it. Using VW502 00 / 5w 40 FS never caused issues with the first CAVE engines that needed rebuilds or replaced and had the code for Fixed Oil & Filter services. Using VW 504 00 / 507 00 , 5w 30 FS III never benefited a CAVE or a CTHE if they were on fixed service intervals and not many did oil & filter changes on Variable mileages. If the engine uses no oil and is problem free then why not use the Long Life oil. What is the worst that can happen? Likely nothing.
  8. Is that actually correct about the cam belt for a 2.0 TDI ? As to those that it applies to, it is 180,000 miles. Cam Belt Guidance change (1).pdf
  9. Welcome and sorry no idea as to your question. Can you tell us how many km has the car done and are there nice condition spark plugs fitted with the correct gap and a nice clean air filter fitted?
  10. Which is fantastic if the things checked are safe on the day and the car well maintained. Not much use if the car never gets inspected and servicing and maintenance by someone that looks and tells you what the car might need doing and you would be best to do. Like cars not getting their first or 2nd MOT, so just 3 or 4 years old. A new MOT is nice, but preventative servicing and maintenance is 'Simply clever'.
  11. @boycie What is it that makes Long Life oil appear superior? I think it is best not to use the Long Life because actually it is in your CAVE engines that were first given the Code for Fixed Service Oil & Filter changes. Plenty oil users have used less oil when 5w 40 FS is used instead of 5w 30 FS III. Also ran the oil a couple of degrees C lower. The issue with the CAVE engines was and can be bore wash. & the 1 spark plug that gets fouled and cooked. The prescribed fuel was 98 ron, (yes they an run 95 unleaded.) In the UK E5 will be 97 or 99 ron min. With additives and detergents. Then the oil has additives, anti foamers, detergents etc. Maybe you can have too much of a good thing. Higher octane fuel with cleaners and the oil. But the choice is the owners.
  12. @UrbanPanzerwill see i tagged his name and maybe respond.
  13. @Willmond Maybe @UrbanPanzer can help. actually help. So maybe say what your Fabia is, is it the 1.6 TDI Estate pre facelift and black pack on Monte Carlo and vRS, & is your car now with the sidelights in the headlights rather than a vRS where the sidelight is not i the headlight unit?
  14. & can be quicker depending on the VW Group UK needing First Registration in any Quarter or 6 months for the UK Average Fleet Co2, or might be held back into the next quarter or 6 months as they need to. Also the hurry up can be on a Dealership wanting First Registrations done, or the car signed and paid for.
  15. The Cars leave the Factory on Variable / Flexible Service Intervals and in a 'In Transit' setting. 18,000 -20,000 miles / 24 months. At the PDI there are places that re-set the Service Regime to Fixed Service Intervals. 9,400 miles. 372 days (365 days now with some). Some mess up the Oil Change Service & the Inspection miles / time, mess up various things. There is no just 'Inspection' due at a time different from what in the UK is now called 'Oil & Inspection Services'. @ 1 year or miles if Fixed, or first @ 2 Years & Miles if Variable. Low annual miles is the owners choice if they want the Servicing changed, the supplying dealership should ask and not just do. Fixed Regime.
  16. @Phoenixboy I can not see where the OP says they have a 1.5 TSI ACT.
  17. Lovely. enjoy. If you have not yet done it, have a look tomorrow where the coolant level is when cold / un-started, and the oil when cold. & check the tyre pressures that the car was handed over with and reset the TPMS. Just so you know that the PDI was done properly. & the levels are when cold. Check the oil level when at normal operating temperature later so that you know both levels on the dip stick.
  18. Expands almost nothing from 10 degrees C to 90 degrees C. Try heating 4 litres of oil in a pan. The health check noted a damaged tyre and the oil needing a top up. Some places have 0,.5 litre as a unit. They are charging for a litre. Maybe a bottle of oil. The OP has a taxi. Use a reliable mechanic. The car is a tool of his trade. There are lots of 1.5TSI ACT drivers ask on here about oil use. & never checked the oil when collecting the car new or after a service. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/456564-are-you-supposed-to-check-top-up-oil-between-services
  19. Professional drivers are not normal car owners drivers imo. But it is not only drivers that do not bother to consider oil levels. There are people that change oil and filters several times a day or dozens a week and are not using their brains. Taught on the job but someone taught on the job.
  20. Just there in my files. Because it is like everyday the same old same old. If someone else bothers to post / link them for the people asking the same questions that seem to suit the same answers i need not bother. 'If only they bothered'.
  21. 3/4 up the cross hatch is you running the car low on oil. Really your taxi should not not be using oil, so best run it will the full quantity. Then it last longer. Does not keep getting so hot. More oil, more to heat, and it will cool as the system should cool it. When you have the car back, dip it cold, and then after at least 5 miles and when an indicated 90*oC. Normal operating temp. Compare. Only 1.2 44kW engines are checked cold and they have only 2.8 litres of oil in. The top of the Cross Hatch when at 90*oC and stopped a few minutes is the correct level. Then when it cools see where that is on the dipstick. Not difficult. Then every time before starting you know where it should be on the dip stick.
  22. @J.R. If the oil refill after a filter and oil change is 4 litres the oil does show on the dipstick if only 3 litres in. RTFM. 'Simply clever'. beware of typo,s though. With a 3.6 litre oil capacity 1.4 TSI / TFSI the oil could be 1.3 litres low and not even the Low Oil Level Light or message come on. Maybe the Low OIl Pressure light would when cornering or accelerating. *The oil would be on the bottom orange blob or the flat below the cross hatch area.* I put 3.9 / 4 litres in the Twinchargers at oil changes as that was what many techs knew was correct. As for the 1.2 TSI,s and 2012. Dealerships kept putting in not enough oil at services. Went by the old quantity, never dipped hot, because cars were not taken on road tests and rechecked when back into the workshop, or parking bay. Area 'A' includes the flat above the Cross Hatch. This is where many make the mistake. Crap dipsticks.
  23. @dominodolmio My opinion of them is not hidden.
