Dealership “health check”
Easy. @gm73 Are you checking the oil at the normal operating temperature or were they. A professional driver v a technician / fitter ? Cold it might be at the top of the cross hatch. Parked on the flat at the normal operating temperature and checked after a few minutes it might look as low on the cross hatch. So where is it when checked correctly? & where is it dipped cold and no engine started? Many have issues with 1.5 TSI ACT,s and oil level. Maybe because right from an oil change they are low and not checked correctly.

2014 Octavia Scout Mk III 4x4 issues
@dominodolmio Welcome. When in the dealership ask the wise guy / gal how you would actually switch of the ESP on your car without plugging it in? They might be in for a bit of expense to actually get this working. Not just an oil change and filter clean out and pump clean up. Maybe a pump, maybe a control panel, maybe anything. Has the car got a service history, Haldex services every 30,000miles / 3 years or sooner. When was the last service?

Welcome. A mod might move your question to the Superb section unless someone answers here.

Major Service Records
@marcusg What engine has the car, what gearbox, what miles has it done, what servicing history is there? You need to know what a MAJOR SERVICE means. It was not and still is not much. 2020 the Term changed to Oil & Inspection Services & Extended Scope. Old chart. Stuff done by Miles, if due. Not always even checked.

MkII Kodiaq Order Book Opens
People might not know that at the new rate that is £75.75 a week. PIP Higher rate mobility allowance. So 52 x 5 years 260 weeks, x £75.75 (it goes up year by year and you pay all over.) That is £19,695 plus the advance payment on the Kodiak. £3,599. or 3 Years. 156 x £75.75 = £11,817 + £3.599 + £15,416 paid. £428 a month minimum. That is a new car, insurance & maintenance and the VED is exempt.

Skoda octavia 2022 how can I turn off seatbelt chime in rear seats
^^^ Or just fasten the seat belt, or use it to secure the bag so the stuff does not come forward and kill you, like a passenger could in an accident, or garrotte you, Obvious a Taxi driver without a Seat belt on will never be strangled by rear seat passengers. (Strangest rules /law in the UK where even without passengers they do not need seat belts on.) I was delivering books to Housebound people with a driver when the compulsory seatbelt law came in. We were exempt and had a letter when stopping on the same street, short trips. One day we were in the shop buying lunch, got in the van and started moving a few yards to the next drop. This copper comes running up making signals to the driver to stop. He asks why we had no seat belts on and the driver said we did not need to as we had a letter with exemption. Copper says, that will not stop you going through the windscreen. Not a happy police Inspector. 3 weeks later we are back delivering and the van driver stops and gets out and i see the Police man driving off & he stops and the driver shouted at him. That uniform will not stop you going through a windscreen. We were in a bit of trouble when back at work over that one.

VRS Door Sill Protector - Manufacturing Fault
@aaaaplay That is fantastic then, Car sales Executives or is that Master Techs, or a Warranty Manager. If Skoda Dealerships managed to get replacement sill guards at no cost to them to put on sales cars, or other owners cars then winner winner chicken diner. The problem is at Dealerships if their lips move they can be telling porkies.

the truth about electric cars
Much nearer to home were Edinburgh City BEV vans parking up and hogging public chargers for days and getting tyres punctured. & this happening time after time due to the ignorance of the drivers and their managers. .................. The City of Edinburgh is pathetic no matter how much they say they are spending on EV / PHEV chargers.

the truth about electric cars
^^^ Apparently, To TESLA. Maybe also Porsche. Such is life. It has become pick a number any number when people on-line talk about Taycan batteries. £40,000, £50,000, That seems to come from what someone was told at a Porsche Dealership and has now become Chinese Whispers. Someone must be supplying use Porsche Taycan batteries by now from accident damaged cars with no battery damage. Maybe someone at some point has had to buy a new Porsche Battery and has an invoice showing what they paid or the Warranty provider did. PS The Driver of the Tesla into Edinburgh that then had a flooded battery seems to be silent on that. Maybe still being dealt with, maybe resolved and an agreement to say / publish no more on the matter, or maybe they paid up and shut up. Hundreds of Tesla seem to be getting about just fine on pretty flooded roads in Scotland this year as each year and thousands of other EV,s as well. It was maybe only me that went WTF when i went too deep and too fast in the MINI and lost stuff on the dash until i stopped and restarted the car and it all appeared again. Fantastic that a Tesla Battery is less than 1/2 of a Porsche Battery, even 1/3rd of some prices mentioned..

the truth about electric cars
The driver yesterday afternoon with the Taycan on my local council charger must have decided that they needed more than 70 minutes charging so never bothered that as well as the 55 pence a kWh there would be the £10 oversay to pay. As it was it probably suited them, car parked and when back fully charged and no more expensive than Commercial Chargers someplace else.

MkII Kodiaq Order Book Opens
Disabled people are ordinary people as well and tax payers, just like business drivers with the help they get with BIK, and businesses with VAT back on public charging costs. It can cost a lot in Advance Payment to get cheap cars that might lose lots of money. They offer Dacia but really do not want anyone leasing them. They even encourage top spec often as the Manufacturer might want them shifted and Motability would rather have them for sale in 3 or 5 years. It can be a family car as well as the transport for the disabled person and there were exclusion to the £26,000 limit. So that £26,000 limit applied a few years back never lasted even a year as far as i remember. Many need expensive conversions and to keep the car 5 years. Motability is a charity but the organisation running the vehicle purchase and sales have lots of high paid executives and the 5 big banks holding the billions of funds. They buy and sell the cars and are the biggest individual buyer of cars in the UK and as such have an idea about residuals when the cars go to BCA to be sold. There are lots of Used Vehicles back into the dealerships used at 3 years. FMDSH, 1 registered keeper. Never raced or rallied. Well not officially. Motability get special purchase prices, and do not pay the registration fee. (Adaptions free of VAT.) The UK Manufacturers will very much use Motability to help them with First Registrations of the percentage of Zero Emission cars they are required to have each year from now on.

the truth about electric cars
^^^ They are apparently just disposable items so if the owner does not care no need for us to as long as when it catches fire it does no damage to anything or anyone else. Maybe the self drive function can with it,s last lower drive it into a river.

Fabia III accelerates/maintains speed on its own after releasing the accelerator pedal
@Nix2 The Japanese, South Koreans and even the French had the engines and software ready well in advance of the WLTP,s certification. It was the Germans that thought that they would get away with their usual cheating and the use of their test centres. They were struggling to get the required emission figures, just like now where they get the EU to kick Euro 7 down the road a while longer. VW buying into Suzuki got them no place and then Suzuki with money lent by Toyota bought the share back on the eve of the defeat device scandal breaking. Vorsprung Durch Tecknik, or kid people on with what they are going to do, eventually.
-
Fabia III accelerates/maintains speed on its own after releasing the accelerator pedal
They never engineered the engine management for driving pleasure or behavior. Just for the WLTP regime and WLTP. Battery getting some charge slowing down and you have 0w 20 FS oil if you use what they used and recommended. It could be worse. You could be in a mild hybrid, PHEV or a BEV.
-
Fabia III accelerates/maintains speed on its own after releasing the accelerator pedal
!.2 TSI,s & 1.0 TSI,s should not really be expected on start up or tick over, and with Anti-stall to behave exactly like a 1.0 TSI with a GPF.

My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
Watching this i was interested to see that on track the writing was worn off the passenger front tyre. These tyres on the JCW Cooper MINI were the same as my MINI electric came on and which were dreadful in the wet or even damp and not that good and giving good efficience. Been out trying 0-60 mph times but not great on still cold roads. So tried the front directional tyres (wheels) on the the wrong direction and knocked 1/2 a second of the time. That is with TC & Dynamic control off. & no wheel spin. Then a bit of playing on some great driving roads that are still fun within the speed limit and with plenty vision ahead for animals. Very very messy as lots of farm machinery out and about.

Annoying rattle in rear/middle driver's side with softest suspension
@Tiankai Welcome to the forum. No idea as to your rattle, as easiest to identify when with the car. OT, but has your car got a history of the Halex been serviced now & if enough miles done the DSG serviced & the Spark Plugs replaced. Any advisories at the MOT for misting of the dampers, or anything at the Service or pre sales report? The Prop Shaft couplers are worth inspecting to see just how they look.

How small is the 12v battery on the iv?
Which is exactly why a BEV can lock you out or fail to be able to start when the battery goes flat & the Traction / HV battery has plenty electricity in it. (An issue that affected ID.3,s early on.) I do not even get 35 minutes of radio listening in BEV,s i have driven, sat in. They shut down much sooner unless plugged in an charging.

VRS Door Sill Protector - Manufacturing Fault
@aaaaplay Who were these people and what position do they hold in the VW Group or what qualifications have they as far as the manufacturing of the components? Do you have in writing from them that it 'was a bad batch'? Great if you have. Just get Skoda / VW to accept that it was, or take an action against them if there is proof they were building the cars and using parts which were manufactured not as they had specified. Sometimes just being a PITA is enough to get parts replaced Free Gratis. With the Zinc Inclusion manufacturing issues they must have been able to trace to which shifts and employees were working when the vehicles with the issue were manufactured. Not that they were prepared to accept they built lemons that they should have bought back if an owner then was landed with one.

MkII Kodiaq Order Book Opens
The Advance Payment currently with a Kodiaq from Motability is not that good. Skoda an others want people leasing BEV,s and Motability buying and first registering those. If they have run out models to clear they might be 'Much Cheapness' while stock lasts.

VRS Door Sill Protector - Manufacturing Fault
Get Skoda CZ to confirm that these Protective Sill Plates should have had a Lacquer coating and that they do not. They are a 'wear item'. Unlike the Diamond cut wheels that got 'white worm' and some got replaced and some did not. Environment damage / use / chips, scratches. coating breached. Or the Wheel Trim centre of Skoda badges that corroded. Some replaced, some not, some people never asked and never got. My 8 month MINI (7,000 miles) that was in the showroom for 3 months before i got it still has the protective delivery covering on because the Dealer never removed it and neither did i as i know how scuffed they would get. The car gets used hard as a car and feet scuff the sill plates. Even though i only have one foot. Shiny and nice needs protected. Aluminium needs protected, but the Sill Plates are not Aluminium are they. Protecting the protection. When the car is at Auction or back in a dealers for sale it might have shiny like new Sill plates. Skoda Dealerships getting in used 2021 cars know if the plates look like crap or not and know if they replace them or leave as is. (I used to be a car sprayer, refinisher and did warranty inspections, reports and repairs.)

Planning to Tow With a New Car - BEWARE
^^^^ That is a wrong assumption to make. Some vehicles ordered from the Factory with Tow Bar Preparation or the Towbar factory installed might indeed have a upgraded cooling system, engine, gearbox and more suitable springs. But vehicles might have a plated max tow weight etc and be exactly the same as ones that have not have a given the scores on the doors and can not have a towbar fitted and legal tow. What VW group and their Brands and what other manufacturers do can be very different. The VW thing about not having Towbar prep and you can not fit a towbar to tow (or even for a bike carrier) yet the car is plated with braked and un-braked weughts allowed is the cause of much confusion. Often caused by Main Dealers employees, sales staff. service staff.

2012 Skoda Octavia 2 MY13; CDAA; EA888; 1.8TSI engine weird misfire.
^^^^^ Apples and pears though from the 1.8 TSI Euro 5. Well they should be, but then the 1.8 TSI has fundamental design, manufacturing or material failings. The pinned thread at the top of the section is about the early demise of some of the 1.8 & 2.0 TSI engines. Yours has not had an early demise, but are you sure the engine has not had prior issues, or minor or major work done.
