  1. If England can start producing enough Electricity and excess electricity or energy then it can start producing more hydrogen economically. So just get on with it, New hydrogen plants are coming, like the new nuclear,. The maybe sometime in the dreams projects. Get on with Fracking the funk out of England. Get your Lithium Mines going in Cornwell. Get the Water Projects going, get lots done and stop robbing the money from Oil & Gas revenue which is not Englands, it is the UK,s and England is not the UK. If Wind Farms are needed then build them, and tidal and solar, and the pylons. All nice having beauty spots and not wanting to ruin them, well do not expect Scotland or Wales to ruin theirs to provide cheap energy for England.
  2. Drums on the rears of RWD or AWD BEV,s is something simply clever. Servicing and Maintenance is required even if Consumables are not required. ICE Vehicles now on SERVICE PLANS might well get nothing done to the brakes in 3-5 years. Not even the wheels taken off, brakes serviced just a visual inspection, no brake fluid checks, H20 content or anything. At least the BEV thing which is common is the Brake Fluid change at 2 years. Well that is getting missed as well, but that is what the UK Motor Trade is like. More interested in telling owners the AC service is due at 2 years than the safety stuff.
  3. The BEV / PHEV Garage / Workshop and conversion trade is developing. The Technical Colleges and Vehicle Colleges are running the coarse,s and getting on with what is needed into the future. Somehow people seem to think that Companies and Businesses, Manufacturers and others are all mumpties and mumping on about EV,s is going to halt the future from happening. Their business plans are set now and their financing etc. Some will fall by the way side, there will be new developments. Back 51 years ago in 1973 when Mobile Phones were a novelty or a joke who would have believed that there would be homes without Land Line phones.
  4. Total crap on the Corsa Electric brakes. The one i drove needed 2 sets of discs and because i did not use the brakes much and for the new owner at 3 years they will have needed to replace them again. Just rusty rusty messes. 2 sets of drop links. They are crap. 6 weeks off the road with faults in 3 years. ........................ Vintage and classic cars exist we know that, but they are from then and this is now. So talk about the ICE Vehicles produced from 10 years ago and those at 50 or 100 years old and the BEV.s That is comparing like for like, not vehicles fro the really 1900,s on.
  5. @J.R. look at SSE Energy Solutions. Look at other electric generation companies and renewables / wind farm and solar is Scotland that are in the business of selling electricity and now in partnerships with EV Charging providers. Scotland is not England and the real issue in Scotland is not enough storage for the electricity that can be produced or the customers taking it since not all is connected to the national grid. Electricity is not free but it can be damn cheap in some communities producing it with turbines they own and that the initial investments are paid back on.
  6. Set off this morning. Car at 100% . 104 miles. Temp never about 4*oC. Had 76 miles to go. Right from the start the range dropped to 94 miles. Then after 5 miles of extra miles with roads closed I the. Needed to do an extra 10 miles. Instead of diversion I headed very narrow roads I know. Went to heating off and near dead power to get to Perth. Then 70 mph to Stirling in sport. Ended doing only 72 miles. But 1 hour 48 minutes and arrived with 30% battery. This is why small battery cars might need topped to full. Diversions, chargers not working like the first one I tried. Started charger on card. No tariff showing on charger. If I am not at 98% I will need to go on the 22 kW AC and charge at a max 11 kW as I am heading v 105 miles to a charger.
  7. To compare i went for a quote on this. Brand new & 10,000 miles a year.
  8. Tried a quote on this, Expensive. 10,000 miles a year.
  9. @lol-lol It was not an issue with the Corsa and certainly is not with the MINI getting from 90% to 100% Presumption really matters not a bit, or others experiences, if you drive the cars you just need to try and see. Different chargers, different weather / ambient temps, you get to know if the little slower is worth more than getting a move on and getting to a charger you can not get on. Better sometimes where you are than the unknown maybe 2 hours away. Then do it all again. When you are getting maybe only 1 mile per 1% you need to have it full. Well i do.
  10. @Basiccontext Welcome. How many miles has the 5 year old car done? Was it a Skoda Dealership you bought a Skoda Approved Used car from rather than Direct from Skoda? So not really Skoda sold it a Dealership did. IS IT A SKODA APPROVED USED CAR? Is it the Dealership you are speaking to and is that the Workshop Manager, The Service desk staff or someone else? You do not need to spend anything on a diagnosis, you have consumer rights. Merchantable quality. Their supposed rigorous checks.
  11. 20% of a battery not charged can actually mean it is not only 20% less range you get. So i am off to do a few hundred miles and was checking out the charger tariff changes. The increased price is not so much the issue, but the most i will probably need where the tariff went from 25 pence a kWh to 59 pence will be 25 kWh. £14.75. That will maybe get me 100 miles. Minimum charge is £2.00. Charging is £1 a minute after 40 Minutes. South Ayrshire which is free will be 37 pence a kWh from April, 25 x 37 pence £9.35. Rapid 50 kW charger, But they have a Minimum Spend of £5.00 coming in. That stuffs up if you are a more than half a charge 20 kWh way with a small battery but want to charge to full before maybe going 100 miles to your next charge. £30 penalty for staying over 60 minutes between 8am & 10pm.
  12. Is SYNC not just the Temp requested by the driver or passenger being SYNCed? Both sides wanting to have the same heat once the car can get that area to the requested heat.
  13. Train the young to do the towing. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-68513071
  14. ^^^ He is a very efficient / economical fuel / energy wise driver / car sales person. He gets quite impressive miles per kWh from many EV,s he drives / films. If just anyone driving the same cars on the same roads can get the same results without having to know how best to just how good would that be!
  15. Could he by chance be a 'Software engineer' ? Funnily there are cars that have behaved oddly in the past and they were driven by 'Software engineers'.
  16. Then with a lot of Salt on roads and what tyres in the Sizes, How does the All Season / All Weathers affect things or full Winters or Nordic Winters.?
  17. @lol-lol Is that USA Certification, US EPA ? What has the WLTP results showing?
  18. I have all the Gear and no idea. Tried it. Screen shows, full stretch to left hand finger tip when driving, needed reading glasses to see what to press. (Short hand typist. an old joke, or the ' Aberdonian, Long pockets and short arms.') Result. ziltz. Car in reverse and i steered it. Life is too short. See space, mirrors, indicate, drive past, stop select reverse, car parked. PS OK, got it. What a palava. Near reversed into the side of a White Nissan Juke. Big space to the rear of it.
  19. They will or should now have it on the Digital record as Checked and no action required then. For future reference, maybe future keepers. Well lets hope so because past experiences of 'Recall Actions / Service Campaigns' can have it hit or miss.
  20. There are a couple of Community Operated Fuel Stations that i have used in the North. Very rural and lovely places that we try not to tell people about as nice to not be over run with racing around the North Coast 500 types. ..................... There is still a 5 pence Rural Fuel subsidy per litre paid up there on petrol and diesel. Never gets discussed that often. Susshh,
  21. Welcome. Pretty common for cars from any manufacturers but where a car lives and drives can make a lot of difference. Seaside, areas where there is more salting / gritting of roads. Sometimes cars that get cleaned / steam cleaned underneath look worse than ones that get a bit of protection with some greasy / protective coating applied. ? Where was this car first registered and any idea of where it was living? ? How does the Service History look of stuff actually that has been done? PS Is not every car that has done 40,000 miles being used to drive on roads? The difference is maybe sits around lots doing nothing and then gets used occasionally. Covid years, or the past year.
  22. ^^^ Not uncommon in Scotland now as Commercial Public Chargers are being installed which reliably deliver electricity at the speeds many want and are prepared to get rather than Local Authority tax payer funded ones that can be poorly maintained & out of service. http://zap-map.com/news/nhs-scotland-welcomes-its-first-pop-electric-vehicle-charging-hub
  23. I really could not see how they could even pass an IVA in the UK with the sharp edges at the front.
  24. @Dieselgate Do you mean that as per the recall you took the car in to be checked? Did you not think about asking if they did anything to your car?
  25. @xman sad man if that is an attempt at snideness?. Re Cybertruks. Are they Type Approved to allow them to be imported and registers in the UK?
