the truth about electric cars
It is the Truth about electric vehicles and the ICE BMW X5 he was driving about in. Too heavy / big cars than really many need to kick about in if not a Police Armed Response vehicle which is needed incase heft is required against bad people. They were supposed to be taxed on high emissions, but maybe not enough taxing if they are still being used and much cheapness to buy. even the big tyres are not expensive. ? Are the BEV,s lasting only 3,5 or 10 years? Well that is terrible if the truth of electric vehicles. The DVLA will have the numbers and the SMMT, Office for National Statistics and maybe the Mail Online.

Superb for Taxi
Remember then that any Skoda Approved Used Car, cars with FMDSH / Full Main Dealer Service History might have little done by 30,000 miles, a full history showing how little. One on Variable Servicing might have and one Oil & Filter / Inspection service and maybe not even a Pollen Filter replaced.

^^^ So a TAXI / Private hire car is a tool of the job. Get it right, know the potential issues. If you can have a Warranty Covering a Taxi then get it. Other member learned the hard way, but then that was 1.6 TDI,s and another with a DQ200. Warranty did not cover a TAXI. Are you buying a Used 2023 or something from Stock? With a new car before First Registered you can extend the Manufacturers Warranty, But used just extend a Warranty, but Taxi,s Couriers etc can be excluded. If a DQ381 DSG i would want a warranty covering it past the Manufacturers Warranty.- Superb for Taxi
They are good Taxi,s plenty around the world. Are 2023 good as a Taxi for in and around town driving or more out of town ans Airport Transport is the question and which engine / gearbox competition. A Superb 280 TSI is a good VIP / Transport / Taxi.- Tesla Model 3 facelift
Not building 1,000 or so a week might do them no harm if the supply he as been greater than demand and they keep selling cheaper to get cars shifted. Maybe there is a waiting list though and people will just need to wait longer if there is. Knowing how Tesla really do things is hard to know from media articles or social media.- Coolant missing and come back
There have been posts in the Octavia MK4 section about iV,s / PHEV,s and a coolant TPI. Maybe on here as well. Have the issue logged for the sake of the warranty. Check if there is a a Skoda Recall Action or any information only given to those that talk with them.- Oil change and DSG mat recall
The OP,s car shows at the left as a 2023 car & they have already done 14,000 miles. If they want to stick to Variable and go as long as they can til the Oil & Service change then fair enough. Not much getting done anyway and maybe not even the Pollen Filter, but it should get done. Actually Skoda should be paying for a Service since they ball-sed up and have people wasting time taking cars in since it is Safety Critical and they need to check before someone might die. Fixed regime, not variable.- Oil change and DSG mat recall
Oil changes on Variable @ 24 months, or 18,000-20,000 miles. Have the Service / Oil & Filter change done when you want. The Dealership does not own your car.- Sluggish cold start
Is the Air Filter Clean and dry, the spark plugs all good, gap correct, and has the fuel filter been replaced any time in the recent past?- Superb for Taxi
@classic I have driven only 2 pedal cars for 4 decades now and DSG,s for 14 years and not anti DSG. There are issues still with DQ200,s as there have been for 15 years, but different issues 2009-2012, then 2012-2015. and 2015 on and some are landed with these. The DQ381 having issues is growing as an issue and VW Group appear to be allowing the issues that there were to DQ200 owners to be repeated. Damn expensive sadly out of warranty. As to a Taxi being off the road, you are not earning and getting a Courtesy car is a problem.- Sluggish cold start
@Bongoman2Million Which country are you in? In the UK nobody sells 98 ron. the 95 Unleaded is E5 and Super Unleaded E5 is either 97 ron min or 99 ron min.- Concept EV's.
Even some of this styling / look actually produced as a BEV would be a big deal.- New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
- is buying a used ev more risky than buying a used ice ?
I just heard on the radio that the App used for remote functions with Nissan Leaf and NV200,s built before 2016 is to be shut down. Because it uses G2 network which is closing. EDIT. http://bbc.co.uk/news/technology-68426263- My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
^^^ UK Government for you. Usual Civil Servants / DfT / DVSA, Arse and elbow. Press releases. New will not be all cars build new from that date, it will be when New Tyre Approval is applicable. MAYBE AT THE PDI THE DEALERSHIP EMPLOYEE SHOULD BE CHECKING THAT THE FUNCTION HAS NOT BEEN DISABLED OR ACTIVATE IT IF NEED BE. *It does say Registered from July 2021.* No noise like that from my car or any warnings First Registered August 2023, PDI June 2023, face lifts on the MINI was 2022. Maneuvering is when you are doing low speeds, pulling away from a stand still or turning into a street, maybe coming to a parking place in a supermarket and exactly when people do not hear you. Blue Badge holders can drive in Pedestrian only areas & there are shared pedestrian and vehicle roads. Lochee High Street Dundee or Ayr High Street i drive through and many do and you can not toot your horn, or are unlikely to and people are often oblivious there is an EV coming up behind them. I am very very careful because i am half Mutt & Jeff.- My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
I read stuff about Tesla owners wanting the pedestrian warning activated and Auto Express and others saying it was introduced for PHEV,s & BEV,s before it was legislation. I suspect as usual it was on New Type Approvals after the date and not all Vehicles manufactured from that date. As it is there are plenty BEV,s and PHEV,s that do not emit warning noises.- Service query
PS Up to 2020 under the Minor / Interim & Major Servicing the Air Filter & Plugs were at the 2nd Major Service. 40,000 miles / 4 years. People were conned and paid for what some said as a Major Service at 2 years and got nothing other than the Pollen Filter if even that, & the Oil & Filter. EG. People paid a fixed price and a tech / fitter might decide not to fit consumables yet the customer paid up and the dealership has the parts in stock and extra VAT not paid to HMRC and there was less time / labour spent on the job. The Free Wash & Vacuum could take longer than the Service and there was no Road Test of diagnosis, or updates..- Service query
Get it serviced as often as you want if paying, but maybe at a place that does stuff and not just tick boxes. Have it set to Fixed Servicing 9,400 miles / 372 days if you want that. They come from the factory on Variable. A Pollen Filter schedule is at 2 years / 20,000 miles or sooner. An Air filter is at 6 years / 60,000 miles. That should be checked at every service IMO, and replaced as required. Brake fluid was in 2021 @ 3 years and each 2. Now they say each 2 years. Spark Plugs at 4 years / 40,000 miles. VAQ Diff at 3 years / 30,000 miles, now on Mk4,s supposedly at 2 years / 20,000 miles. Fixed Service Regimes / Annual and Variable are all over the place and it becomes a guessing game what anyone gets. But Year one and year 2 Fixed are Oil & Filter Changes year 2 plus Pollen, Year 3 also extended Scope. But then the extras need paid for if not included. A DQ381 DSG Service is not at 40,000 miles it is at 80,000 miles which is probably far too long.- My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
Re Mandatory. The Corsa electric and now the MINI electric did not and does not emit any Pedestrian warning noise required at less than 18.6 mph (30km/h) which they must be able to hear over background noise.- My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
No idea about what it has or uses but i never connected to all choices and do not have all 'connections' signed up to use Amazon Alexa. As it is the Sat Nav is total crap and keeps thinking i want to go to Germany, and can not find its way to places a couple of miles away when inputted by touch screen or voice command. The RAC not been in touch yet to tell me the TPMS is showing a fault so it will be interesting to see how well their trial goes. Maybe i will here from them this week. The MINI system will be interesting to see how things work out, my phone app can locate where the car is but if asked for directions to the car says it is too far away. be that meters away or miles away. The System in the 2020 Corsa Electric was total crap and really pathetic. Overair updates etc, and going back to factory settings, or locking me out of the car. As to locating the car sometimes it new were it was and when it moved, other times it thought where my phone was was the cars location.- Octavia 1.5 eTSI coasting
Extend the warranty then. I would worry more with a 1.5 TSI ACT with a DQ200 dsg. Yours is a DQ200-e i believe, People with DQ381 DSG might want to be sure they have a warranty covering them beyond the manufacturers warranty. This is a VW Group issue, but with other manufacturers as well, they had to get lower emissions for the WLTP and RDE2. Tough on owners if the R&D comes down to paying customers finding out how things are after 5 years of use. It takes 5 years until something is 5 years old because they never did 5 years of testing.- Octavia 1.5 eTSI coasting
I was waiting to here if it is Stop / Start engine closing down and in Hybrid / EV mode and coasting. I read that they did not know if the oil pump or the motor is completely off. I am as Interested to know from someone that knows as the OP seems to be. As it is non hybrids TSI & TDI,s can have engines stop when not up to normal operating temperatures and also go into coasting mode and have been doing for a decade or more. - Superb for Taxi
