  1. @Expatman is it just a supposed 'Self charge hybrid then' and not a PHEV Lexus? That should be fair enough then, Warranty, local dealership and you are sorted.
  2. @Winston_Woof It was the EU / UK that wanted to reduce emissions and to incentify the change to Electric Vehicles as there are targets they set and penalties for the governments to pay if they miss them. So the incentives are going for private buyers and those that require to public charge in the UK. It is actually 5% tax on electricity for those using charging at domestic premises. The years of pain are starting for those running ICE vehicles that are not VED exempt. Being VED exempt i have no skin in the game so really could not give a monkeys about the changes. It is still taking the pith as far as the cost of living and stuff.
  3. Extra Load not Extreme Load. ? Why would you not fit tyres with the correct speed and load rating and reinforced sidewalls. The rid will not be harsher and if a few quid difference they are worth it.
  4. The VED rates going up on ICE vehicles is a **** take as were the £0, £20 & £30 VED vehicles that still only got pathetic MPG,s and that many bought with the £2,000 scrappage money. People did know that EV,s would eventually be taxed. They are getting taxed heavily now with Public charging and the 20% VAT. But then the business / VAT registered can claim that back.
  5. ^^^ Exactly the issue at the Capital City of Scotland's Airport. The City of Edinburgh / CPS / BP Pulse rapid chargers @ the Airport Park & Ride have been out of commission since last October. Those returning with a non Tesla hire car discover this, and might then head out to the BP filling station for the 2 chargers there, or along to the BP at Newbridge for the new chargers, then get back to the airport. Non of this can be less than 20 minutes longer than if they had got on the Park & ride as far as travel. Actually can be quicker though as they are Ultra Rapid chargers. 79 pence a kWh instead of 55 pence, bit that is the least of their expenses / worry. It is a farce. An actual scandal.
  6. Announcements cost us all a fortune. George Gideon Osborne was a cracker announcing stuff that would come in down the line. Jeremy Hunt and Rish Sunak have something that is retrospective so people bought vehicles as much as a decade ago knowing there was no VED on them and now they are getting screwed.
  7. Welcome. @Carlstonmight just be the person that will know all the details. OEM or alternatives.
  8. Hardly likely pre budget or Autumn announcement, or pre April or even Jan 2025. But things might very well change as far as attempts to make things positive for some, or after this Budget Announcement or the Emergency one after the GE. Millions or billions will have been spent already by the Treasury / HMRC and the DfT in preperation. Not in advertising this time though. Well hard working or not hard or any work families will be very much affected. Then really everyone is affected since more than half the vehicles on UK roads are Company / Fleet cars, Local Authorities , emergency services, utility companies etc. So higher expenses to Councils, NHS etc. Then to businesses so passed on to consumers / customers. Many many EV,s are run by business's, and then Motability own many and they are VED exempt.
  9. We know about Lexus and Toyota Reliability records. So lets hope the Lexus Hybrids do not let them down. Skoda,s reliability record is not going to be too good as more PHEV,s are first registered and owners take part in Surveys. MG and Dacia score well do they not and they have Hybrids and BEV,s getting sold.
  10. @Expatman Has the Lexus hybrid really got th best reliability record? Not from what i have read and seen and if it is the best then there is little hope for any others.
  11. @Danoid If it was technically or actually illegal that would be on public roads / public places maybe. Do it on not public roads if stationary. As it is the Giving the car laldy on public roads to clear a DPF is kind of crazy, but then thats the crap that came from politicians and environmentally friendly emission rules.
  12. It FWD & not AWD it has a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG which has 2 oils in it, in the MCU and in the Box and there are no Guidelines, Recommendations or Schedule from Skoda . / VW for servicing / oil changes. The Servicing should have been OIl & Inspection servicing, probably a Pollen Filter and at least the Air Filter looked at. Brake Fluid changed by now. PS @daviemck2006 I am originally from Macduff. Cousins and 2nd cousins around and about, Macduff, Banff & Whitehills. For servicing or any work i recommend Victoria Garage Maud if you can be bothered going. (They might advise changing both oils in your DQ200 and i would trust them. Do not let others without a clue touch the DSG.)
  13. The Buttons i know about are so that the driver can push it when the vehicle is stationary with the engine running. That is not stationary on a Motorway or Dual Carriageway.
  14. There are people have surprises coming their way. GB News. Sorry..... No idea why it says 'England' as far as the tax payers,, probably they are incapable of saying Britain or the UK always just on some occasions. (Scotland does have different Taxation, but not for these business users and pick-up trucks do they?) Proper explanations here. Pre 2001.
  15. @Danoid Since 2018 to get the WLTP Certification and the required emissions VW Group need the petrols have a GPF . We will see in the next year or 3 if they have more issues than the odd high revving and poor running & what replacing will cost on ones needing replaced. Regens are different from with a GPF.
  16. @Paws4Thot or those that have never considered one or maybe even driven ones chance to post about them and about those that post.
  17. Just to be pedantic. Diesel Particulate Filter, so no need for Filter after the DPF. They did the Forced Regen, cheeky monkeys. Sorry i know nothing about them Clogged or cleaning or how much you really need to pay to replace, but forget Main Dealers Prices or their diagnosis at your expense. Hopefully there will be some along that can help. One thought. If you had bought a 2018 petrol VW Group car with a GPF then that might have upcoming expenses soon. No idea how much Skoda Dealers will try screwing customers for a diagnostic and GPF replacement, they are maybe still thinking on that one.
  18. 148 pages and some of the posts are even about EV,s / BEV,s and are we nearer the truth. It is noted that some posting like in the past days have not even posted about EV.s. Oddish. As to Nit picker. I f the hat fits wear it, and groan at others posts.
  19. @Winston_WoofI had 2 of them. Sensontronic gearboxes so no clutch pedal I used then for camping and as a tin tent. Most we had seeping inside during severe weather / blizzard like was 5 of usfor a few days and nights.
  20. Skoda or VW decided that they did not want to do that then as they would have had a vehicle that could carry 7 just as long as they had no bags to carry. Just like with the Sharran / Alhambra. Maybe they thought they would not want their own loved ones in those back 2 seats be that facing forward or back as the HGV is about to rear end the Superb.
  21. 190 is lots over the 150 ps, even allowing for when you get a vehicle in the UK and you pay for the max BHP / Nm you are in the UK so never above 3,000 ft above sea level and not likely to be running at ambient temps over 40*oC so it is 150 PS Minimum not Max you get. People can remap a 2.0TDI 150 ps and not get a 190 ps when dynoed. So if the car goes really really well and you believe the scores on the doors than fantastic.
  22. @sepulchrave The issue was Bore Wash, has been for the last 14 years in the Fabias, and 15 in Ibiza & then the whole bag of crap that started when they went 160 ps then to 180ps. There is nothing new about this stuff, or duff advice from Technicians and Motor Mechanics that can not see the actual wood for the trees. Gummed up rings, broken rings, burnt valves etc. & long story short, a guff map from the factory. Long Life Oil, crap sparkplugs and an engine that can run fine and not use oil if treated right. High oil users can be turned around. Do you mean the compression test, and not the Skoda Official Oil Consumption test? New oil and filter, drop the oil and weigh it, then refill and the car gets the oil filler and dipstick sealed, the owners drives the car takes it back, they drop the oil and weigh it. Mess that up, accuse the owner of having tampered with the oil if there is a warranty, get the weights / quantity wrong etc. The plugs are not an immediate issue but the OP has talked to someone at Skoda or a Dealers and they have mentioned Oil Breathers, Oil Pray jets / squirters, Official OIl Consumption tests and he has mentioned servicing. So to keep it simple, the car running right helps, the 5w 40 FS can help and the Super Unleaded can and then no short cold start runs, and do not over fill the oil. Dead cheap see how it goes. If they do not want spark plugs dead simple, do not get them.
  23. @harrylime If you need a AWD you need one with suitable tyres to tow on grass or mud or in or out of gates do you not? Is that the actual Weigh bridge reading of the trailer and horse as it gets towed?
  24. ^^^ That was / is a PHEV. So a DQ400e DSG, servicing every 40,000 miles for the DSG and Engine oil changes every 8,000 miles unless that has been changed to at 9,400 miles.
  25. @Winston_Woof Good. So you are buying a 1.4 TSI ACT with a 7 speed Twin Clutch DSG (DQ200) Stop / Start that has 1 Registered keeper before being 'In trade' and the seller bought it direct from a Skoda Dealership rather than direct from Skoda UK, ? Does that sum it up?
