@red2 Up until just a few years ago i used Waxoyl & Wax oil clear on new and nearly new cars, and black on older cars that had been welded or cleaned, rust inhibited and then instead of underseal. Origanaly Finnigans, then whatever, Hammerite, Tetroseal and Jenolite.

Mk3 Fabia owners have been surprised to find that their cars Schedule became Brake Fluid changes first @ 2 years and each 2 years. Mk4 owners will eventually find the same with theirs. As to the others, Scala, Kamiq, Kodiaq, Octavia and Superb from about 2022 then maybe anyone interested can check. Same with Octavia Mk4 with VAQ diffs, that changed from @3 years / 30,000 miles to @ 2 years / 20,000 miles.

Ban those air shows. What a waste of fuel and that is not just the aircraft, that is the spectators. Was it not a Skoda Approved Used car then with a 2 year warranty? Get your paperwork and find out what warranty you got, surely not just the remainder of the Manufactures warranty.

I never showed a 8 year old car as really not that relevant other than about buying 8 year old cars and ones that you can not even take into Glasgow City Centre / LEZ without a fine. The cars leave the factory on Variable / Flexible servicing, 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles until the first service if you are servicing to the Manufacturers Guidelines, Recommendations, even now Specifications or Schedule when they use that term in their T&C,s. What a pity they make it so confusing to find the Guidelines, Recommendations, Specifications or Schedules. Dealerships add to the confusion. There are even Skoda / VW Group approved used cars at 3 or 4 years with a Skoda Warranty provided not Serviced or Maintained to the Guidelines etc. or anything like them. FMDSH. Maybe @lol-lol or anyone could show the scores on the doors for a Business User & the costs BIK & fuel etc comparing that 'Commercial Traveller' / Rep doing 250-300 miles a working day Public Charging a Tesla @ Tesla Superchargers no home charging or a Skoda Superb 2.0TDI DSG using super market diesel. Lets say they are doing 1,000 miles a week for 45 weeks a year. Not about private buyers / drivers. Those costs are pretty easy for people to work out for their use, location, circumstances, home charging or public, and running older or newer cars etc. DIY maintenance or using garages. Lease or Purchase / owning. LEZ,s. Parking, Work Place charging or availability of cheaper fuels for an ICE.

It is very encouraging that if you want an EV with just 200 miles range like a used Porsche Taycan is going to be available soon for the price of a 2024 Fabia Mk4 1.5TSI. Flying pigs. & that they can get an early Nissan Leaf that will be able to do the 50 miles or so that someone might need to do and can do that for maybe £2 or less.

Some Skoda Models for the past few years are now showing the first Brake Fluid change at 2 years. Same as it was back about 13 years ago before going to 3 years then each 2.

It will be partly down to being a Tesla, and then comparing with a Jaguar. It is not to be dismissed, it is real, and different EV,s are affected differently. It matters if travelling the distance of the capacity of your battery and then that is lower by 1/4 or 1/3 rd. not just some 20% the car magazines go on about when not really out and about in that cold UK weather. Getting the car heated and then going non stop might be very different from a Rep / Commercial Traveller / Worker that has several stops a day to do and the battery getting cold every time and the interior cold. Or an actual family going places, needing the car heated and ventilated. Like real world, not a Journalist or 2 checking range until the car runs out of energy.

This battery degradation thing is well known, Used Car Traders of EV,s are checking, well good ones. Cars like the Leaf that we know about and why some were more affected than others is there for people to learn about, how cooling when charging was an issue. People wanting a town car / commuter and a used car might well do their due diligence before buying a used EV. Others will maybe trust sales people and get screwed. There are so many Polestars about Scotland it is quite surprising. I have yet to hear a driver with one complain about them. I really hope at 3 or 4 years old to 10 years old they are going to be good used buys and very cheap. There will be loads of them kicking about. The Dundee Taxi firm that had a pretty large fleet of Leaf got on pretty well with how the performed with Rapid charging and doing high annual miles. Town / City miles though, just like many people just need a inexpensive used car for.

The weather stations, the thing at road side, the around gardens / parks etc the white box with the thermometer in it is measuring 'Air Temperature'. A the container in it rain fall. Read a School Childs 'Learning sheet, read a BBC or MET explanation of Map colours. Your Wind Sock at runways is wind direction, the weather station there is Air Temperature, 1.25 meters above the ground.

They do use Air Temperature, Listen closer to the weather people, they often explain. temperatures in towns / cities, in the country, in glens. Airports are built where they are for a reason, villages grew to towns and cities for a reason, next to rivers, in valleys, near the sea etc. & then the Likes of 'Wind Chill', and my favourite, 'Thunder Snow'. because some people are just dim.

Long story short is that for anyone wanting to buy a pretty young used EV there should be plenty to chose from at maybe 'Much Cheapness' as they have to get flogged by Lease companies, Motability etc. So as long as the prices are really dropping away and main dealers do not want them as part of their sales stock they should be getting into the hands of traders / brokers and then to new owners.

The ground / road temperature might be as much as 5 degrees C below the Air Temp, maybe night time a couple of degrees, hence black ice forming when the cars Temp shows 4*oC. The Scottish Transport Scotland weather sites used to show air and road temp, but the newest site is crap. the roadside sensors do have the data.

@CrasherPlease explain the point about temperatures. There is the ground frost figure given by weather reports, ground temp, then the other temperature is the Air Temperature, as taken at 1.25 meters above the ground in a Stevenson Screen. There might be permafrost, or melting permafrost. ? What temperature do you want to know about, is it the 1.5*oC , is it the Global Temperature & Climate change rather than in Cities, towns or countryside in the 4 countries of the UK? 2*oC air temp outside where i am just now, air temp.
