the truth about electric cars
MFG buying 337 Morrison,s Filling stations & forecourts is fair enough and more than 400 associated site to develop ultra rapid EV charging hubs. I was going to use the chargers near Edinburgh Airport this week despite the cost and they were all occupied so i had to head to a PodPoint not much cheaper and get a charge there. Good that they are providing the service but the cost is really too high for many including me, but then the Council Chargers are not that cheap and worse than that unreliable.

the truth about electric cars
@Graham ButcherI understand what you are talking about, but to save 60 year old cars it takes 60 years to pass. If someone can be bothered saving a bucket of rust that was 10 years old that cost them £1,000 it just shows what some Boiler Suited guys or gals that can weld can do. So maybe someone not yet born and that will not be born for another 40 years might decide when they are 20 years old to save an EV from 2024. PS Lets see in another 80 years how a bunch of people get on renovating some New Jets recently put into service.

the truth about electric cars
The streets of London might not be paved with gold, but the gutters and sewage systems must have pretty valuable waste materials of precious metals and minerals such as are collected / harvested in other cities and areas by companies involved in this type of recycling. Where their is muck there is brass! Who has ever met a poor scrap dealer?

The Media are just so Click Bait reliant. I have not a clue from the Trash Press owned by the same as own the 'Serious Press' and who just go on their articles.

Skoda Superb 2017-2022 dsg transmission
DQ380 rare in Europe as for China. DQ381 issues growing and growing and might become worse than it ever was with DQ200,s as VW Group / Skoda seam to be in denial. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/520772-karoq-editiion-baulking-gear-change It is said that people only come to forums with problems, so overblown. True, VW want you to believe that. The vast majority have no issues, and many with issues do not come to forums, they let Dealership staff convince them a rare issue. The internet / social media has caught VW out often. When the 2009-2012 DQ200,s had issues there was a World Wide Recall in 2012 which Excluded Europe as not part of the World according to VW. Then 2014 Europe did get included, just not a Recall and Voluntary Service Campaign / Work Shop / Recall Action. Repeated now 4 times in Australia and 2009-2016.

Karoq Edition Baulking gear change
@Elegant70 Skoda Main Dealer's Master Techs, Techs or Fitters should be aware of the failures growing in numbers with DQ381 DSG,s, As Skoda, UK , Skoda CZ and VW Group must be. Mechatronic Control Units. Even Service Staff called TOMMY because selectively Deaf Dumb & Blind must have a little bit of an idea.

the truth about electric cars
Good. Sounds like a plan, worked during covid and well suited to the milder south of the UK, and in Cities and in local communities like are planned with High Streets and Community Complexes. Health Centres, Police Stations, Schools. All not going to happen where most people live, or where they go to work because everyone does not work from home. Is it not really under current review for some councils. i read differently. There are councils that have charges by size / weight, or propose to. Gloom and doom. Doomed he says.

Idle RPM Octavia 1.5TSI MK3 2020
@PhoenixboyNo idea why you are surprised that a GPF car might need a forced regen. There was Covid Lockdown and people have even small petrol city cars from 2018 with a GPF doing very short cold start runs. Or have modern petrol cars and use them like they always have doing hardly any miles instead of a diesel but they issues can be the same sadly. The time is coming soon that we might hear or read of more people with cars with GPF,s being advised the GPF requires replacing. VW Group dealerships might be worth asking how much that will be because so far they are very vague. 'High Idle Speeds' are another question occurring, see in the Fabia Mk3 section maybe where some of the first Skoda with a GPF were bought and doing short trips. Those getting a 3 cylinder 1.0 TSI might be buying all they need for their driving style and use and no heavy loads or regular long trips. Those getting a 4 cylinder 1.5 TSI ACT might need those or think they do and that they will be doing few short cold start trips in colder weather and many might well do. But there will be those that use their cars no different from those that got a 1.0TSI. Time will tell as we get past 6 years since Skoda started fitting GPF,s.

Sounds fair enough. The Sun needs to use a spell checker. A human one. While having a tea break the Editors might want to read the articles.

Idle RPM Octavia 1.5TSI MK3 2020
@MastercardAs long as you are happy. Personally i like to know the RPM once the car has started and the revs drop and there is little demand on the battery. ie, stuff off. Cold weather or warmer weather. As it is when the Ambient temp is at 2*oC and lower the AC is imobilised anyway.
-
Idle RPM Octavia 1.5TSI MK3 2020
Turn the AC off to try and it will probably drop lower.

Idle RPM Octavia 1.5TSI MK3 2020
OT, but just incase a TSI with a GPF ever does need to get cleaned up with a Regen and they can do, remember and Read the Owners Manual. They are different from a TDI and a DPF, but there is still a procedure.

Switching sequential shift direction
My Shogun shifter. But then manual shifts were in a relaxed manner. On the BMW i only do downshifts to stop from coasting, then back to auto. It is my personal thing that i like back to me for lower gears with DSG,s. Right hand drive cars, left hand shifting. Maybe if shifting with my right hand in a left hand drive the sequential would feel right forward to change up.

Engine running ''bongs''
On the Kings Highway in the UK illegal. You will see Police and Emergency Services doing it. They must be exempt. But yes even on a drive / private parking it might get pinched. It is rather different in Bristol from many other places where running an ICE vehicles engine. Even Perthshire where the Council are always on about cars idling when attended they sometimes ignore the Green Councillors or the Scottish Green Party and realise Location location location.

Switching sequential shift direction
Just 13 years back the VW Rally Team Recce Golfs were DSG and you could not even really left foot brake or trail brake as the power was still cut to the DSG until a while later they mapped that out. You hold it on the Hand / Parking brake as then there is not the same delay as foot on Foot Brake and then accelerating from a standstill. Then put in Manual 1 and do not shift to second, floor it and it shifts up, if you are hill climbing or doing an 1/8th / 1/4 Mile. Sprinting then it shift quicker then in D or in S or you manual shifting and if you rev out in 4th knock it into D for 5th and upshift. Down shifts, can be back to S or across to manual in down. Or do double kickdowns.

Which all season tyre?
He did a not scientific test while Covid and Lock down had Ski Centres closed to anyone not from that local area and when there was no snow on the roads, which he would have known by just looking at the Transport Scotland Traffic Cameras and the Snow Gate and Ski Centre Webcams. 'Guide dogs for the stupid!' anyone.

Hesitation
Welcome. Sorry no idea, is it a manual gearbox rather than a DSG?
-
Switching sequential shift direction
@travswhat Motorsport sequential gearbox cars are you driving? BMW Push forward to change down. This annoys me after years of DSG,s and pull back to change down. Or slow down / retard speed, or drop a gear or 2 to boot it and go forward fast / accelerate. Same with 'S', move stick back from D to 'S' to slow on ice / snow, wet and no braking. Or back to S and boot it with gears holding to a higher RPM. Paddles for the MotorSport vibe, but then i like using my left hand on a shifter to drop a gear, and and often back (well across) to D for up-shifts or for a DQ200 DSG, just make the box shift up in Manual but revving it until it does shift up, which they do. Then once in 5th across to D.

Can Running Lights Be Swtiched Off?
Must have been something like pre 1965 then. sidelights have been a legal requirement since then.

Superb iv electric range.
Look into it, the advice might be occasional use. What is the difference once a month from once a day? I am plugged in with a max 10 amp draw for 12-15 hours sometimes charging the EV with 18-30 kWh.

Octavia iV (PHEV) disappointingly low range on electric???
What really gives some idea of the MPG is if brimmed and fully charged and driven 100 miles or so and brimmed and then not charged before the return journey. It is pretty easy if just going 60 miles to say how good the MPG was when 20-30 miles of it might never have the engine fired up. I use no Petrol or Diesel as in a BEV and the first 100 miles is pretty cheap if charged at home, but the 100 miles return is not if needing to use a public charger.
