2 year service plan: hassle re second service
Oil & Inspection Service. Then @ 3 years and after that each 2 years the Oil & Inspection Service and the Extended Scope. The car can come up each year showing 'Inspection' because it was left as that but there is no just an 'Inspection'. At different times from Oil Service. Fixed regime on chart, not Variable / Flexible.

The cars come from the factory set for a Variable / Flexible service regime so from the PDI 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles later. A 2019 car might not need serviced until 2021. (Some dealerships might reset the servicing to Fixed so 372 days / 9,400 miles because the buyer wants or there is a service plan & annual, or often because they can get away doing that.)- Buying advice
A bad DQ200 7 speed dry clutch DSG will feel wrong if it is wrong, and the A1 if it had a s-tronic (DSG by another name) will have been a DQ200 if a 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 tsi or a 1.6 TDI. Don't listen to anything about they 'All do that' if something feels weird. (The DSG does not get serviced. It can be done, but there is no schedule for that, and there are 2 different oils in it, in the box and in the MCU.) Be sure the tyres are matching or matching pairs. Spare wheel is there. No tiny chips in the windscreen. Remember a HPI check does not let you know a vehicle has not had serious damage and repair if someone has not made an insurance claim. People crash cars or they are in accidents, floods, damaged and not claimed on and maybe repaired. As to not having VED that is no indication of anything as they can be driven on trade plates. You just need a record of servicing that any Warranty provider can check, use of the correct fluids and parts. Simple enough really.- Buying advice
Welcome. You have a Warranty for awhile and Consumer rights. If the Servicing record is not up to date, with paperwork surely you are not parting with £16,000. & no Warranty. It needs the Servicing to manufacturers guidelines, manufacturers recommendations before getting a Skoda Warranty is worth the money. If there is according to them a known issue they knock back a claim, yet they have sold you a warranty. You would be looking for a car that starts and drives perfectly and you want to drive at least 20 miles. Have you driven automatics or even a DSG before? No lights should be on in the dash once you are going, and after 5-10 miles when it is warmed up and you boot it a bit. If there is not much petrol in get a gallon in. How many miles has it done and how old is it? Over the past 2 years how many miles between MOT,s. Why has it been on the books for so long is the concern. Has it been getting used as a courtesy car or something. Main Dealer Servicing does not have much doing without paying for the extras. You want to know when the Spark Plugs were replaced. The Brake Fluid. The DSG does not get serviced it is a DQ200 twin dry clutch. *You want a warranty that covers it though.*- the truth about electric cars
The crux of the matter is Not cheap to run for private buyers who require to do public rapid charging or even fast charging in some regions. It matters not how often cheap off peak tariffs or utility scheme discounts are mentioned if the people without those just want a car. Even a Public Tariff from a Tesla charger around 50 pence a kWh is not that cheap if you get 3 miles to a kWh. 10 kWh = £5.00 for 30 miles. Talking Super Market Rapid charging and 70 pence a kWh, & 4 miles a kWh is £7.00 for 40 miles and a vehicle who's depreciation is getting to be anyone's guess. Maybe good for those looking for much cheapness though in pretty new EV,s. , those getting cheap charging...- Looking for cheap economical car, narrowed down to skoda rapid and Fluence dci
Welcome. Have a look in the Rapid section. Many might like them. I would sum the 1.6 TDI CR as having been part of the Defeat Device / False Emissions VW Scandal and some needed to have a Air Flow Device fitted and a Software / Engine management update. Then VW Group / Skoda had to have the 1.6 TDI CR with SCR / Adblue to get the required WLTP / RDE2 certification. Be aware of possible DPF issues.- the truth about electric cars
@Graham Butcher The Royal Connection to EV,s is that they are nice to drive, and although they are dead risky so is being a Royal as the Prince of India and KC3,s favourite uncle is an example. So as i said, as long as they are not home charging on a 3 pin plug at the countries or their Castles should be safe as a safe thing. The son and heir did a bit of driving the EV racers in Scotland.- the truth about electric cars
No they are not on Public Duty nipping off to Grantown on Spey for some Country Wear. Charles is all about the green as house fly. Always sniffing about Billionaires. Up and down the UK like a blue arsed fly. While he is in Scotland William will be in England, & vice versa. Dead scared one snuffs it in the wrong country.- the truth about electric cars
@Graham ButcherI think KC 3 does not give a flying duck what the government wants. & they are the UK,s biggest scroungers and they like to not put their hands in their own pockets when they can help it. They (Young Royals) have blasted about Deeside in Audi,s for Decades on wee jollies across the snow roads with their Royal Protection Officers.- Do I have a DSG gearbox ?
@Warrior193The 8 speed automatics in North America, Australia and other global regions are fitted to 1.4 TSI,s and non ACT ones. These are where there is no WLTP kidology happening just actual C02 emissions given.- the truth about electric cars
There is IMO a very good article in 'Autoexpress; by Mike Rutherford. 'Electric cars could end up like Betamax'. He hits the nail on the head.- 1.5 SE-L DSG
They could be, i just read 2020 and looked at 2020 cars. The 1.4 TSI are not mild hybrids are they, they are PHEV,s / Plug in Hybrids. 1,4 TSI iV. You are right no 1.5 TSI DSG Hatches showing.- 1.5 SE-L DSG
Trawl Autotrader some more then. Petrol, under 1.6, SE-L DSG / Automatic etc There are different trims right enough.- 1.5 tsi throttle lag
@janneroflCould you update this. You never got a new DSG fitted for £1,200. So what did you get a MCU (Mechatronic Control Unit? £1,200 was cheap if you did.- the truth about electric cars
@Graham ButcherIt was irony. I knew you had. It is the same old same old that keeps being repeated until the time that something actually happens to change things. Maybe Windsor Castle will go up in flames again.- the truth about electric cars
I presume this is already in this thread of 'Fire fire fire'. We are doomed, doomed i say. covered-car-parks-fire-safety-guidance-for-electric-vehicles.pdf- the truth about electric cars
I take it the King and the Heir will never travel in the same vehicle. Hopefully the vehicles are not allowed any place near the British Isles Heritage buildings to park or be charged. The Royals have always had a financial interest in the VW Group. That is really part of their heritage. They are aware of their Carbon Footprint as they head out in convoy and then fly with a fighter jet escort up to Scotland rather than getting on the Royal Train with the entourage.- the truth about electric cars
I have parked my EV under the Scottish Parliament when visiting there and Dynamic earth. Unless ANPR recognises the vehicle as an EV and stops access to multi-storey carparks / airport car parks, drop off points etc i suppose me and others will keep on doing the same.- Intermittent flashing red oil light after oil change
I bumped this last night since it pretty much covered the filter subject, so here it is just to keep with this thread. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513601-warning-bosch-oil-filters-for-12-tsi-ea111-cbzacbzb-engines- Ai Mechanic
Fantastic. That will be a great help for the Tech /Fitter or Mechanic to consider before they get their gloves dirty, plug into the OBD, do their checks and then carry out any work.- Timing Chain worry
@mrted83 You are in the same place as when you bought the car, There is nothing actually wrong with it is there. Just a 10 year old car since first registered and with 83,000 miles and a partial service history, or an incomplete history of servicing. What has it come with just the 3 month or 6 month warranty or longer or did you pay extra for a longer warranty? Maybe it was decided to use VW502 , 5w 40 FS oil instead of the VW504 00 / 507 00, 5w 30 FS III long life oil and there is not the same rattle on start up or when running or just the Technician / Fitter had good hearing and also was trying for the job of getting to replace the timing chain. See what the Independent you go to for the service has to say. At Main Dealers the extras need paying some jobs / parts, as the Oil & Inspection services & the Extended scope does not include Spark Plugs, Brake Fluid Change or Air or Pollen filters- Intermittent flashing red oil light after oil change
? When were the Filters changed from the Black factory fit to the Silver non drip Silver ones, was that summer 2012 when the Oil capacity of the engines changed from 3.6 litres to 3.9 litres with 1.2 TSI,s. There were members posted after that time of the wrong filters being fitted and not enough oil in from the service.- Timing Chain worry
@mrted83 Actually i understand everything you have posted, but just not why you think Skoda UK / VW UK should be interested. If you gave a clue as to where you are in Scotland or who you bought the car from i could maybe suggest a good place to go so tat you are not tipped off. Maybe the Skoda Independent is a good one though. There are some about. - Vids of the BMW i5, & Touring, loads of money EV.
