Rust around fuel filler door
The thread started in 2018 about a 2014 Citigo, there were issues pre that and Skoda UK & VW UK could not have cared less.

Headlight glare.
Yesterday 11th January was the anniversary of me losing my leg when i was 17 years old. 5.05 PM and heading into Broughty Ferry from Monifieth. 30 MPH limit at the border Barnhill to B/F and no traffic my way just a bus behind a bit and traffic nose to tail coming towards me. Snow piles still at the side of the road from the past weeks. I see an indicator flash 'White', it was a Ford faded indicator. (I was able to give the statement 10 days later about the indicator and the car that hit me, a company car.) He cut across out of the traffic to go down the road to my left and hit the crash bar on the bike and that took my leg off below the knee. It went over a wall and hit a ladies front door. She was a nurse. A dentist got out of a car and put a tourniquet on using his tie. The police were very near, they were right there. Seemingly observing traffic. Then one was being sick at the side of the Post Office / Off Licence. Later their note books went missing, but i found witnesses. Like the one that was crossing to the post office and knew 2 police officers were there. She and another had been asked for statements and gave them the night of the accident. These statements were lost. The car that i supposedly hit on his own side of the road did not stay there blocking traffic, he drove down the side street & parked. The person stopped at the top of that road indicating right then moved and went and parked on the main road facing to Monifieth. REALLY. That was so strange. Both the driver that i supposedly hit on his side of the road not across into the side i was on moved, and the one that was waiting for a break in traffic to get on the main road / bus route. As it was traffic was not moving as my motorbike was up the road a bit at a bus stop. They were in there cars seeing what was going on. The Ambulance was there in minutes and i was taken to DRI / Dundee with a police escort through the rush hour traffic fully conscious and with the leg in a blanket on the other side of the ambulance. 2 years later i had my leg amputated above the knee. I am very vary aware of oncoming vehicles and what the might or might not do, and cars with faulty lights, especially drivers side lights out.

Anybody take up the dealer paint & upholstery protection ?
I used to apply the products in new and used vehicles pre sales. With products that were from trade suppliers and at trade prices. Costs nothing like those above. I know the Commission that the Sales Executives could get for the very lucrative sale of this Service. I know what was done when as part of the deal this might be given as a no cost incentive to get a sale, and then how much goes down as the cost of this in the Profit from car purchased, prepped and ten sold and taxes paid on profits. Sometimes the cars when bought at Auction are then Prepped before delivery to the Dealers and having nothing else done before the new owner them. Just the Used Car Pre Check. (Flying pigs.)

Misting/Fogging Windows
Do you have AC or Climate Control? Do you use the AC when you can, which is if the ambient temp is above 2*oC.? Has it ever been serviced? Since you do not know if the pollen filter is clean / fresh what miles has the car done, and what model of Fabia is it? Check the door seal drains at the bottom of the doors are cleaned out. If the passenger door is not opened every day or regularly it might fill with water, not drain, it might even freeze in there. Check your spare tyre well, see that there is no water in there. Check the spares tyre pressure while at it, and that you can get the wheels / bolts off if you have a puncture. When were the back wheels last off if the car has drum brakes? Maybe put a damp trap in the boot and in the car.

My lovely Octavia Estate phev petrol estate is due for first MOT May..Re buying/ordering new model
Skoda / VW Group UK know exactly what practices are used to get cars / vans first Registered. It is them that need to meet the Average Emissions in the UK and need to ensure that they meet the target so that no financial penalties are going to be affecting them. The practice of Ex Management / Pre-Reg is and has been used for decades, and now for the Emissions, but also for meeting the 'Sales figures' and being in the top sellers, or just not having models look like flpps. Sell to them selves then sell used & the SMMT will then tell the media how good sales are going, how well EV and PHEV sales are going.

Headlight glare.
^^^ Maybe a few years to go before there is a change in your eyes and then a line of vehicles sitting in your lane and the other lanes all with Rear & Brake lights on might be more of an issue. The New Nissan Navara Pick up rear lights were the best a spotted in the 45 minutes it took me to go 10 miles through Glasgow the other morning. The Porsche's with the Light line across the back where fine with brakes on. It is some of the Kia or Hyundai EV's that are way over the top now. ................. I worry about cyclists or pedestrians i might not see, not those i see off in the distance because of a light or lights and slow and pay more attention untill i know what it is. Same as when i see hazards or a flashing beacon. Cyclists really bright lights on roads in towns and even out of town are to be seen by the vehicles / drivers that are likely to kill or maim them by not seeing them. *If they annoy you they worked, and really someone that has no dazzle / annoyance with Rear Brake Lights should be OK with a cyclists head torch / very bright light.* They are competing with the other traffics LED,s and DRL,s and even Additional lights on cars and especially on HGV.s. Cyclists really do need very bright lights, flashing lights and a few lights front and rear and hi-viz items on them and on the bike. Simply because there are so many bright lit cars, vans, lorry lights that can mean the cyclist is lost in the lights. It is one thing a casual cyclist maybe being less well lit, but the cyclists with all the gear and out riding / training on roads day or night that have no hi-viz and maybe the very best of gear in dark colours or black is just stupidity. They are all around much of the time, riding fast, head down and near invisible. At least a Hi-Viz Vest or just a Stapy harness should be worn and causes no issue to their 'Look i am a racer / competitor in training or a serious cyclist look. Amazing how even when all daygloyed up there are muppets that do not see you and pull out in front of you, or coming in the other direction overtake and come straight at you.

Service and MOT advice - Karoq SE L 1.5 TSI 150 PS DSG
Is the Service Indicator set for Fixed Servicing so @ 12 months in March, or for 9,400 mile intervals or set on variable. 24 months , 18,000 -20,000 miles? Up to you when you have it serviced, maybe best get it done (Normally i would be doing that pre MOT and get a 13 month MOT done. ) You might want the spark plugs replaced if there is no record of them having been done. Have you had a look to see if the Air Filter is nice and clean?

Octavia iV (PHEV) disappointingly low range on electric???
@SkOmk4I know, and faster then my under 2 kW charging with the 3 pin. (32.6 kWh battery, 28.9 kWh usable.) Often stuff gets Lost in translation with Skoda / VW Press Releases. & the term 'Fast Chargers' causes confusion in the UK as it is. 50kW Max Charge rate is nice though. It is good when they tell you the average charge speed 0-100% As to Rapid charging it is great if free, & at 35 pence a kWh then 20 kWh is £7.00 and if you get 2.5 miles to a kWh that is 50 miles worth. Get to 55 pence a kWh, or 69 or even 75 pence plus and then there is no saving really on longer trips unless you are getting the first full charge at a reduced tariff.

First Skoda, lack of service history and gut feeling... (but it's shiny)
Welcome. Does the History there is show the AWD System / Haldex serviced at 3 years / 30,000 miles or after that, or just get a mention? Any history of brake fluid changed at 31,000 or 51,000 miles? Are the tyres looking good, matching, good treads. Is the windscreen OK and not too many chips, tiny sparkles? Re Shiny. Is it original paint 'Shiny'. Google briskoda zinc inclusion. All might be well, had new panels or proper refinishing, but it is easy to polish a turd.

Octavia iV (PHEV) disappointingly low range on electric???
Re the term Fast Charge. In the UK that term refers to AC 7 or 11 kW chargers. That is using the cars AC onboard charger. Rapid Charge is 43 kW AC or 50 kW DC charging. So 50 kW DC 'Rapid' charging is like Land Rover PHEV,s has.

DRL dimming (when handbrake is active)
@IngeKarlsenSidelights in the UK then. Not for sitting parked or stopped at the side of the road when not moving. But people do use them like that. 'Parking lights' on one side of the car are for when parked outside the Speed Limits and street lighting of towns. This is our out of date Highway Code. Newer stuff online says 'Sidelights' or parking lights must be used outwith 30 mph limits on roads and in layby,s. Fabia Mk2 vRS has the DRL units, which then dim when on as Sidelights, or as 'Parking lights'.

Questionable oil reading on a new 2021 Kamiq 1.0 TSI
Capillary action'. ? Did anyone bother today to dip their engine oil this morning, pre starting it, or maybe now, then dip again after a run and the engine up to operating temperature, stopped on the flat and after a few minutes? Even after running it for 3 minutes from starting from cold try the dipstick and see where the oil is. Were is it now, then where is it after it is up to 92*oC or so?

Questionable oil reading on a new 2021 Kamiq 1.0 TSI
@SeasiderYou think right. Heat can cause expansion. Water expands about 4% when heated from room temperature to boiling point i read. Lets assume the room temp is 18*oC.. If you can not find a table showing just how much someone else will. But if it is 4 litres of Engine Oil rising from 5*oC to 90*oC, then how much does the level rise? Oil guy says about 4% more volume per 100*o F you heat the oil.

My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
I last charged the car at home on the 2nd January and it was at 100% and 103 miles in warmer weather. The last time the car was opened and turned on was the 6th and it was @ 100% and 96 miles. Sitting until i just turned it on at around freezing or lower and in the shade it is at 100% still and showing 93 miles. I plugged it in and it is Full / 100%. Pleased with this no loss while parked up, unlike the Corsa Electric that lost lots of energy while sitting doing what ever it did. This past week i did 700 miles getting over 45 MPG in the Diesel estate. With Summer tyres on icy roads. Next week i have 400 miles to do so just need to decide once i see if the snow that is forecast if i take the MINI and get a charge each 80 miles maybe and have the security of the All Season tyres or i risk taking the Barge and maybe slip slide around and can not get off onto back roads and get where i want off of the Motorway. Pre heating today was lovely. But the ice formed on the inside of the sunroofs is now dripping. I must do better drying and airing of the inside. AC has hardly been on during longer runs as it is energy heavy.

Insurance shocker!
Harry's Garage is interesting this year for the cost of his fleet of vehicles. Under £8,000 a year for the insurance. From 14 minutes. £7,732 for 22 cars and 13 bikes. Now somewhere the p!ss is being taken like with the Fabia owner in the Insurance section and the £6,000 quote.

Oil again
I would use 5w 40 FS to VW502 00 and change the oil at fixed service intervals. The recommended oil for Fixed Services with the TSI. Not long life oil. 9,400 miles / 372 days or sooner changes. I did use this with 1.4 TSI Twinchargers.

The Kidology with HMRC / Tax payers. 3 months / 3,000 miles demonstrator and they get a nice Tax Break. or Car in Showroom and need First Registered before end of quarter. UK Average Fleet C02 emissions and VW / Skoda UK need low emission vehicles first registered to be sure of no penalties. They are doing as they must. Get the electrified vehicle punted or they can not First Register they higher emission vehicles.

Insurance shocker!
We are paying because there is Climate Change, a war in Ukraine, there was Covid & because the insurers waste money on very expensive costs of body repairs and ridiculous charges for Courtesy cars. Regardless of an Octavia being a SE or vRS you are paying into the pot for maybe wiping out a cyclist or pedestrain. The vRS might be costing more than the SE though. Oddly not everyone's insurance went up this year, some are even paying less.

Headlight glare.
PS. Lots and lots of people think the headlights self level and they do. But then there can be a manual setting sometimes beside where the setting is for the brightness of the dash lights. Many might never adjust this headlight height or do it in error moving the little wheel and think ' what does this do'. On my MINI this is very low down out of sight and makes a big difference to the height of the beam. Very very bright LED,s. I have them set low. (Worst headlights i see in town when driving in the dark (30 MPH area) in a low vehicle is the Newest Ford Pickups & Transit vans. far to bright, it used to be KIA lights.) Mine is to the right near door and low on the dash, out of sight.

Oil again
If your car is pre 1.0 TSI with a GPF, so just before 2018 and needs VW504 00 / 507 00 it is 0w 30 FS III or 5w 30 FS III for Fixed or Variable Service intervals, & it can be VW 502 00 for Fixed Service Intervals, 5w 40 FS. All oil to that spec is top quality. Castrol is not top quality more than others. Many VW Group UK main dealers uses Fuchs Lubricants Quantum Oils. VW508 00 / 509 00, 0w 20 FS IV is for the cars that were WLTP Certificated / have a GPF. ............. This chart is misleading. Skoda were not putting in VW508 00 / 509 00 at the factory from 2015.

Headlight glare.
The LED,s might well be an issue, and MATRIX headlights also. But then there are vehicles in the UK that have poorly set headlights from the factory, never checked at the PDI and maybe picked up after 3 years on the road at the first MOT.

Questionable oil reading on a new 2021 Kamiq 1.0 TSI
@carefreeyear after year there are those that post on here that they had a low oil warning and why since they bought a new car or had an oil change. Is there really something difficult about checking oil with a dipsick be the engine hot or cold?
