Filter change 05/2011 i seem to remember. There are the threads on the Filter on too tight, and the seal not removed so 2 fitted and then the thread on dodgy filters.

I can not understand your situation other than you bought a used car and it has a part service history, is at 83,000 miles and a Tech or Fitter said it was noisy. The valued customer that was getting the car regularly serviced would have had to pay to have it replaced. If there was a Major service in 2019 and a service a year ago then what about 2020, no interim / minor, 2021 no Major, 2022 no Minor / interim or Major. Or no record of them.. ? When were the spark plugs changed, 40,000 miles & 80,000? It will last the lifetime of the chain. It is 10 years so far and anyone's guess how much longer. The Mk2 Fabias Build life was 2007 to 2014.

@mrted83You never bought the 10 year old car from SKODA, you bought it from a Dealership. If your car /engine is faulty then you have a warranty do you not. But it has not failed has it and you test drove the car and bought it just as the Dealership employee should have and they bought it. How many 1.2 TSI engines built since 2012 have had timing chains fail. and where did you get the figure from? There was a TPI for the early engines for when people reported issues. ? Which Motor Group is the Dealership you bought the car part of? Dealerships do not just replace the Time Chain on a car because there is a noise noticed by the new owner.

@mrted83 Welcome to the forum. Where are you in Scotland and who was the Skoda Dealership? As in the OP, 63 plate registered in 2014 is not one of the 1.2 TSI,s that are covered by the TPI is it. Those were pre 2012. What kind of Major Service is being done, Oil & Inspection, and are you having the spark plugs changed, the pollen and air filter, the brake fluid & anything else? DATA Protection means they need to not show the previous owner but as for the Service History of the car. Skoda/ VW put that online, and it is for Cars Owners / Keepers to know what was done to the car. Just because a new owner thinks a timing chain is noisy does not mean the Chain & Tensioner needs replaced. If you want it replaced then maybe pay someone to do it. It is a 10 year old car /engine. These are who you are talking to on a phone, e-mail or Chat , or even a Bot.

The car never gets colder than the air temperature, but it might well get ice and frost on it and that is frozen water. There are puddles and the ground that puddles are on still frozen this morning and there are puddles not frozen. 4 Degrees C air temp.

I could not configure a Nissan Leaf in Green. As to the Orange and Bronze numbers showing as being Registered in the UK. There is getting to be a lot of Orange, Bronze, Golden coloured cars about, Nissan, Dacia, Renault, MG Ev,s now, BMW,s including EV,s, Mercedes. My favourite Green colour is a shade used on some Mercedes. Cars are not living things with flesh, so really they get as cold as the Air Temperature. Cold might bring the heat down quick but the car is not like Humans or Animals so that Temperature plus wind speed does not have it 'Feels like;. But then there are exposed places and sheltered places, out of the wind, or in the sun or in the shade but the temperature is air or ground temp.

Maybe with children in the car or yourself or passengers play the game. Spot BEV,s (Battery electric Vehicles) but just cars not vans that are the colour green. An Abarth, Vauxhall or MINI does not count there are a few of those about. Ones maybe from but not only, Alfa Romeo, Alpina, Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Bugatti, BYD, Citroen, DS, Fiat, Fisker, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, JEEP, KIA, Land Rover, Lynk & Co, Nissan, Mercedes, Lotus, MG, Opel, Peugeot, Polestar,Renault, Seat, Skoda, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Rimac, Rivian, Volvo, VW. The reason i ask is because i think any suggestion about Green Cars and the buyers thinking the colour Green on a BEV says something about them 'greener' driving them. (The Green Vans, are usually their attempt at advertising the companies 'Green Credentials', Articles last January, and again this January.

Really this 'Most people' nonsense needs to get some fact behind it. Even if more than half of people do charge at home. The UK figures for Drive Ways or Off road parking are very possibly rubbish or might be the percentage of those with an EV who have a driveway or off road parking. Those that are just running around the area of their home chargers and charging just there is fair enough, but really there are many many EV,s being charged away from the Home Address or the Work Address and that can be on AC or DC and the cost is now getting to be more than Petrol or Diesel costs for private drivers. Some public EV charging is double the cost per mile of running a similar size ICE vehicle to the EV.

What is the nonsense today about the colour of cars and people choosing the colour green to show they are being green about motoring? There is figures from the SMMT about First Registrations, the number of EV First registrations and more Green cars. I wonder if they are including Electrified, so PHEVs, maybe Ford Puma. No idea what Green EV,s people are getting. Vauzhall Mokka electrics i see some of, can anyone think of other GREEN EV,s they have spotted? EDIT, Doh, i forgot, Green MINI,s (including electrics.)

@tyreman1What was done at those services is what matters, In it,s 4th year is that 2 fixed interval Oil & Inspection services, annual or maybe 1 at 1 year and another at 3 years and maybe the Extended Scope? Or was it on Variable and a service at 2 years and one recently. It is what gets done being recorded that matters and know what was not and you will need to be doing when you get it, or at the next service. Having 4 matching tyres with good treads is nice or pairs matching. Brake discs not too rusty, and if rear drum brakes it is nice if those were serviced.
