the truth about electric cars
Michelin Primacy 4 as fitted to many EV,s / PHEV,s to help with range are really quite inappropriate for some weather conditions. As are many tyres OEM on vehicles as they are sold in the UK. Tens of thousands or millions will get around on the tyres cars come fitted with pretty well but there are EV & PHEV drivers that should be looking at the tyres the cars are wearing, maybe cars under 3 years old that have not had a MOT examiner or anyone else casting an eye over them to see just how treads are looking. I have seen some EV,s about that i would not want to be taking out in heavy rain, frosts or snow. These often being the more expensive EV,s on the biggest / widest tyres. The MINI Electric was delivered on these. (You can opt for Winter Tyres with a Factory Build but really the sales people knew nothing about that and said they had never been asked or noticed this.) Watching a video of the New Mini Cooper Electrics the presenter said they come on 225 tyres (18",)now and not just 205's.(,17",). Likely there will be options of 17 or 16 inch rims and all season or winter tyres. But cars ordered for stock and demonstrators will be on Summer bias tyres.

Citigo on steelies?
Surely not too tight for the correct size of alloys / tyres. It could look very 'Rally' like Fabia,s on White Steel Wheels. But you do not say what color your Citigo is.

Octavia mk2 vrs mpg issue
Welcome. If it is not being driven and the dash reset to give average fuel use, instant, estimate range etc then it might well show low MPG from the time it was sitting ticking over while getting worked on. I flagged the thread for a mod to move it to the Mk2 Octavia section.

1.4 PHEV - 100 mile first oil change?
@Heppie89was it delivered on a transporter. They are on Variable / flexible servicing so 18,000-20,000 miles /24 months unless changed maybe because of a service plan to fixed so 9,400 miles / 372 days. Maybe because the lease company wants that. I think your car is in Transit mode. The lease company or the supplying dealer do just need to arrange that at no inconvenience to you it is set for the cars Service Records. Local dealership or someone coming out to the car.

the truth about electric cars
PHEV,s charging at 3.6 kW might well need to be included and excluded from Peak Demand time charging. But this is very much an issue for England more than the whole of the UK. National Grid and not enough energy in the right places lots of the times and then when it can be readily available the National Grid does not want it as it does not have the customers for it. Like into battery storage in properties and vehicles etc.

the truth about electric cars
^^^^ indeed. But still people put power to their garage, shed ,greenhouse, caravan or motorhome from the supply to the home / property and as @lol-lol said. Granny charger, I call it the 3 pin lead though as the AC charger is built into the car. So wall boxes or Smart meters have legislation. Maybe legislate against heated pools, outside lighting, heaters etc. Those that have these will not be pleased.

the truth about electric cars
I am posting about big Audi,s that Audi were going to build. I have seen the VW stuff over the years. BMW were on the right track with the range extender carbon body cars they produced and sold. The issue being they were too ahead of their German competitors that they have been in cahoots with for decades over what is really a cartel. As it is all this has just meant China has done what they needed to and produce People's Cars for the future, even short term future. Vauxhall/ Opel now on about £22,000 EVs. Like VW. Just do it. Do it and still make profits if they can.

the truth about electric cars
VW group could do better if they just keep buying others technology as they have done for decades but not trying to screw over partners. They really seem not to be able to employ the best in the world because they are liable to leave them to carry the can and do the jail time.

the truth about electric cars
VW / Audi built the engine plants and the factories for the diesel hybrid motors and converters etc. In Hungary and South America. That was what the Endurance racers were all about. R&D. They spent Billions. Then the Sh|t hits the fan. They were little cheats with diesel. There are Audi's that can do amazing efficiency, cylinder deactivation, hybrid power. Lighter materials. There were the A2,s ahead of time. Each car loses them money. So in another 3 years Skoda gets a EV that can charge in 12 minutes. VW just have to imagine it and it happens.

Campaign 23AX
^^^ That mislead many including Full Time Employees of Skoda Main Dealerships who know phones and keyboards but little about a Skoda / VW or any vehicle.

VRS MK4 Road Noise
Any difference if you increase the tyre pressures or reduce them. Was that the local Drug Dealer or Skoda Dealership employee. Was it a Technician or Workshop manager or salesperson that took the car on a road test? ? What were they supposed to say other than normal & do you know if they have had a hearing test recently. They are called TOMMY by some. Deaf, dumb and blind dudes.

Service Frequency - Help please.
KwikFit are surely doing more than an Oil & Filter Service at that price. Far too expensive anyway. Pre Winter inspection and up-selling opportunities. Check Air Filters every year / every service, not by years apart since nobody but the driver knows where the car is used, You look see if Dry & Clean. you can clean out the air box, give the air filter a vacuum or blow through if you think it does not need replacing. Same with Pollen Filter, and you can wash around that area and vacuum there as well. Brake Fluid is supposed to be replaced at 3 years then each 2, but in the past couple of years Skoda have some new models again back to at 2 years and each 2 years. Fluid can be tested for H20., Like Anti freeze / Summer Coolant / Rust Inhibitor normally called COOLANT can have ratio / strength tested. Rear drum brakes can be serviced as in the drums get taken off, cleaned, lubing done etc.

the truth about electric cars
In a Metallic Grey Corsa. The first time stopped the HGV driver with his load of alcohol had been tailed for 30 miles by some other car and then not long after by me and called his Emergency number or pressed SOS button or what ever. 2nd time it did not look like an unmarked trailer & i was surprised when the blue light vehicle pulled me. The officers were familiar with the habit of EV drivers and just warned me to think on.

Questions about climate control system
Welcome. I assume your car has no auxiliary heater so the coolant needs to get hot, heat the engine before opening the thermostat and allowing heat out of the heater. If i am wrong someone will correct this. ? Is it a petrol engine, as i think a TDI would be taking even longer to let you get heat? All depends on ambient temps.

Welcome. Someone might be along that can help. Maybe say what engine you have, is it a TDI. ?? How many miles done?

The threads are in this section with members that have given the Scores on the Doors. MPG / efficiencies.

Fuel consumption throughout the day (IV PHEV)
What the OP could do is brim the fuel tank and not charge the battery and then see on a trip if it does 500 miles or more on just 10 imperial gallons.

the truth about electric cars
Not many retired or elderly that i meet when charging at public chargers. Also there are plenty doing longer trips working or going places for what ever reasons. There were mums taking their cars to school that unplugged from the AC chargers this morning. Often i see Cleaners & Homehelps, Posties, delivery drivers etc plugging in and heading to work or coming back from work. Scotland has a lot of ev,s around, private or business / work vehicles. PS I often draft HGV,s Luton style vans or Coaches. Coaches are often best on the routes i want to keep up to my max speed limit as they seem to not be restricted according to the Speed Limit the law shows. Different Speed Limits in Scotland compared to Rof UK on Coach lengths, and a Pilot Speed for HGV,s on the A9. Anyway in the eddy far enough back to see their mirrors and them to see me, and when in the right spot the RPM drops in an ICE or the Power Meter in an EV. This has had me stopped twice by Police on the A96 / A90 because i was tailing High Value loads early morning as i tried to get home without a charge or doing only one stop.

Actually there are those that will disagree with that for 1.4 TSI,s or 1.4 TSI ACT / 1.4 TFSI COD,s.

the truth about electric cars
Looks perfect for some peoples needs. Private lanes /mews flats, shared court yard parking and the likes. Choices and variety is what is needed. For listed buildings / heritage sites ect then versions of that could be just what is required.

the truth about electric cars
F in cold this morning. Charged to 99%. Car showing 93 miles range. Got 150 miles to go and planning to get on a BP Pulse in 74 miles and use my £18 credit that I got with the subscription. Then free charging later for 99 miles tomorrow and back to the BP Pulse charger again in 74 miles. Then some charging in Edinburgh City.

Road bump thuds and brake noise
Best check or have someone check that the Transport Blocks were removed when the car had the PDI at the dealership before hand over. Visual inspection. Have you set the tyre pressures since getting the car to suit your load carried. & reset the TPMS. Maybe a stone caught in the brakes, or are the discs getting corrosion as it sits over night and you are grinding this off?
