Surface of brake discs rust quickly
As to Rust / Corrosion & Discs Calipers, it is winter season coming in and not is all equal around the UK and in my area Gritters were out the other morning, That is Salt / Grit, and that is not the same around the UK. You might notice with some vehicles that are parked roadside that the Drivers side can be worse than the passenger side for corrosion or dirt if you park passenger side to the pavements.

Fabia 3 2018 clunking noise from underneath
@J.R.True, just the broken parts of the coil if it is broken does not sit right. Sometimes you only hear the coil is broken as you might go on or off a kerb, or speed bump or pothole.

Coming up to three year service
@Karoq What prices did they charge for the servicing and parts?

Real MPG On Superb Diesel 1.6
@Gammyleg Is that actually getting 590 miles, or 610 miles from 10 gallons, or 630 miles for 10 gallons? Winter Diesel time now and if not actually colder than a couple of weeks ago the efficiency might be better not worse. eg, not taking longer to heat up, no extra heating / lighting needed. If just a bit colder then denser air and less grip / traction on roads so not really winter weather.

the truth about electric cars
@J.R.The most recent video is about a Renault Zoe. @wyx087Do you mean all other brand and models from VW Group have rapid charging? There are new Renault Zoe with only 22 AC charging and no DC CCS. Rapid enough, but not RAPID. There are Hyundai Ionic with just AC charging.

Real MPG On Superb Diesel 1.6
Interesting. 2013-2015 are Euro 5 emissions and had Defeat Devices / Cheating of emissions, and ones that got the Fix, got new engine management & an airflow device fitted. late 2015/ early 2016 on are Euro 6 emissions, and from 2018 will be covered by having the WLTP figures. Real world is real world though, in somebodies world. Just a driver, or some load or full revenue weight usage. Honest John now owned by Heycar owned by VW / Daimler.

the truth about electric cars
The TESLA water damage story is about a TESLA. No point going on about a Renault, or Nissan, MINI / BMW, Stellantis, Hyundai / KIA etc. They will have their own trial and tribulations. I want to know about the MG that 'Kidnapped' the driver and the £17,000 bill from a TESLA Dealer. Not the one where the owner made an explosion of his duff one in a quarry. They sold or told their story to the press, surely their must be some updates.

Real MPG On Superb Diesel 1.6
Welcome. If you drive the bigger heavier Superb the same way, speed, trips as you do your Golf do you really expect it to use less fuel? The larger tank would just mean when full when brimmed that was a bit more weight carried than the smaller tank brimmed.

the truth about electric cars
Where the Office for National Statistics or what ever agency comes up with the Off street or driveways statistics is just so relevant. Housing schemes, Low rise, high rise, flats, terraced housing, homes not with gardens or access to roads, apartments, HMO,s, Mobile Home and Canal, River boats etc and the the various properties people live in around the UK compared to Detached or semi detached, 4 in blocks etc.

Fabia 3 2018 clunking noise from underneath
Best take it back & ask those that did the service, or MOT. If you have not already discovered what it is or done an inspection. The Spring need checking. seated correctly after being jacked up. Brakes, pads OK, wheels correctly tightened etc.

the truth about electric cars
That is the date of the Article. That was not when VAUXHALL were first quoting the ridiculous 40% figure, or the 60% figures on driveways and such crap.
-
the truth about electric cars
@Graham ButcherWhat date was the statement attributed to VAUXHALL made that is in that article you have posted? I remember the discussion when it was first posted. Vauxhall part of Stallantis, Citroen / DS, Peugeot, Jeep, Fiat / Abarth, Alfa Romeo, & the Vans from the group. So they might well be talking as STELLANTIS and not Vauxhall. Put more money in & not just go for Publicity / Advertising.

Which oil grade for Citigo?
They are Fixed Oil & Filter Services but came with Long Life Oil, so VW504 00 / 507 00, 5w 30 FS III VW502 00 can be used. 5w 40 FS. Fixed Services, not long life. ( Not VW508 00 / 509 00 0w20 FS IV though.)

Inspection in X days
@New11What Kodiaq do you have, engine and gearbox and FWD or AWD so needing the Haldex Serviced @ 3 years / 30.000 miles or sooner. ? How many miles has it done and what servicing has it had in the past? EDIT. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/507554-oil-service-due-do-they-have-the-same-price ? Did they set the Oil Service to Variable regime a year ago but leave the 'Inspection' for 12 months, so now?
-
Inspection in X days
INSPECTION can show separate from Service or Oil change due if someone does not set or reset properly. There is no just INSPECTION. Ask a price of an INSPECTION, there is not one, So have the car set on Fixed Servicing 9,400 miles /372 days or Variable 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months. Some places do still do Minor & Major servicing as was the norm till 2020 when Skoda UK went Oil & Inspection services & extended scope @ 3 years then each 2. ***Get an Inspection of the Body Work when the car is being serviced, that is for the Paint Warranty up to 3 years then for the Corrosion Warranty for 12 years. No additional cost, it should not need asked for, it is their job., Just they dont bother & Skoda & VW UK know that, then say no record of being done.***

DSG Eco mode on restart
Nothing that magic. Drive disengages and the RPM drops and the fuel is sipped if required to run the engine, and all this system helps the WLTP & RDE2 results and can save you fuel on the right roads if your toe is off the accelerator. But not all DSG or engines are the same or modes and then there are the 3 or 4 cylinder engines and the 4,s with ACT / COD in addition.

Two quick questions.
Well you will only know what yours does when it does go off. So as an alarm hopefully it catches peoples attention. What use is a silent alarm that does not disturb people / neighbours? There is an alarm siren, it is not the horn, unless that has been done away with. Try the window thing though. Plenty in Skoda car showroom with a window open and the doors locked go off when people look in.

Rapid spaceback General Maintenance questions
@ZakBredinYou have Long Life oil in if the Correct to VW504 00 / 507 00 so the 15,000 is not an issue and there should not be sludge.
-
Spark plugs
@bobcrHave you checked by now that the plugs you have are the correct ones, you have the gaps checked and not just in pre-set, and te the leads / coil is OK?
-
Two quick questions.
Open a window. Lock the car enabling the alarm, reach your arm in the window and wave it about. Tell us what the alarm is like. Does your computer settings not have 2 you can choose from. Do you really not have an Average there that can be left running and one that resets.

Rapid spaceback General Maintenance questions
Welcome. Get the oil up to operating temperature and then change the oil and filter. Carefully. Maybe pumping out the oil via the dipstick tube, then change the sump plug and see what if any oil / gunge comes out. Test the Coolants strength / ratio with a test kit. Fuel filter. Air Filter. Pollen Filter. Brake Fluid.

the truth about electric cars
Mericans annoy me. They just use random terms. A 'tow truck tows', it might lift and tow. It might be a Recovery truck that tows, or a recovery truck that carries the vehicle. The EV,s were towing water craft. Not that difficult a concept.

the truth about electric cars
4 years production / importation to the UK and look how many on SORN, and how many no longer registered. Dead parrots.

the truth about electric cars
The Usual, prestige cars. Accident damaged awaiting parts, owners life abroad part time, lease / hire / corporate cars. Maybe awaiting new high voltage batteries or something like that.
