  1. I have just seen how many MFG Charge Hubs there are at filling stations or are under construction, waiting to go online or planned around Edinburgh. @ £0.79/kWh though. 50 kWh = £39.50, 50 x 3.5 miles 175 miles. A diesel getting 30 mpg, 5.2 Gallons / 24 litres, @ 160 pence a litre = £38.40
  2. Yes they are electric. They are all over the place and sit charging or like that one not charging @ Fast chargers. The other one there was charging. They were even sitting an hour or 2 at Edinburgh Airport Park & ride on Rapid Chargers when there was a 30 minute max charging time and a £30 penalty for charging over 30 minutes. Doing it even when other chargers were faulty and drivers were unable to get their 30 minutes of a charge. The same happened in Edinburgh with MITiE who got Council Contracts & were required to run Electric Vans. To start with that happened because the drivers / trades people had no idea about the 30 minutes or pretended they did not, and they needed to charge anyway, from home coming into work and maybe during the day / lunch time or before being able to go home. Loads of DPD vans charging around Dundee even where Public Chargers & in demand and really there is a divide for Council Tax or non Council Tax payers and Business / Company users getting VAT back and using Council Provided Chargers. Not likely to change though, but some are taking the Pith as to hogging bays / chargers if not charging. Those sitting having their break and fully charged and not moving is a PITA, but often you can just ask nicely can you get a charge, always worked for me. The vans left during a day or night and not charging and blocking getting to the charger or them locked in has nonody to stop them doing it so i just post them up on PlugShare / ZapMap. After all i am there hanging about at times or having to check every now and again if u can get on the charger. When there are chargers for Disabled / Wheel chair users and they block them when they could choose any other fast chargers (Slow really) that is just ignorance. https://heraldscotland.com/news/23906048.scotland-homes-perth-housing-transport-hub-approved Perth is getting a Low Emissions Transport Hub so that should be for Commercial users and others, and what every Town / City will need and should already have.
  3. Well the motorway was closed with 5 miles notice and that was a diversion to a road I have not used for 10 years and it had road works and traffic lights and no traffic coming towards me. Then Tay Bridge road works. All in it was shorter, had plenty miles available and the temp went to minus 1. No idea why the van would park up at charger but there are loads of 7kW ones anyway. That is not my MINI. & It is not in a bay with a charger. One of them decided to park close though. I have an early start and car plugged in and charging and that will clear the ice in the morning.
  4. Edinburgh is just a joke. Hermiston park and ride. 5 new rapids and 1 old one. None would start on credit cards, or CPS phone app. Tried them all, no answer on CPS call centre. Finally tried a Debit card and accepted and charging. I should have just gone back to a 75 pence a kWh one and I would have been going 40 minutes ago. Needed to be full as temp low and away to head into freezing. Might need to just slow right down to get to where I am heading, or do a quick charge at a reliable charger. Fiasco as usual around Edinburgh.
  5. @mccririck diesels or even petrols drop in efficiency is to do with cold start and warm up time. Lights, heaters, screen, rear screen, mirrors etc and demand on charging system but if you drive far enough and do not required additional time and short trips turbo engines can benefit from cooler air, less grip / traction of roads ect. With a PHEV you still have the issue if an ICE plus the poor performance of batteries in the cold. But there is the advantage of you are plugged in of Pre warming the car. Holding the charge the battery has and starting the car and getting straight away. Then firing up the engine or not. Swings and roundabouts...
  6. It removes the risk of it bursting and the expense that involves.
  7. Much better today. Free charge early today of 20 kWh, then 55 pence a kWh at Straiton Park and Ride which is huge and has just 1 rapid charger and one fast and that is 45 pence a kWh. I took pics this morning as nice background. Charge to 98 % and 3 miles down hill and at 100%. I need to go up again though. I will post pics later when on a computer. Lovely autumn 🍁 colours around. Temperatures not too low. Edinburgh park and ride and all no power since to the storms.
  8. 55 pence rapid. There is only one at the Park and Ride and 1 Fast charger. 45 pence a kWh. Pathetic really for the size of the place.
  9. @mccririck how did your charging go down at Leith, and are you sorted for using the charger at work? Yesterday from Ingilston where the Rapid chargers were all down to Cameron toll I got 4 miles to the kWh in my EV. Afternoon and good traffic flow. This morning I got on the Rapid at Straiton and charged to 98% then the 3 miles down to the Triumph Bike Showroom it showed I was getting 6 miles to kWh and I arrived with 100% battery. Up the hill to Penicuik later on will no doubt have me back to my usual 3.5 miles than the good regenning coming back down. Tonight I will see how efficient I can drive saving energy and regenning to get from IKEA to the bridge and see if I can get north and home and not needing to charge. The Mini is only good for around 100 miles if I am nipping on and not hypermiling.
  10. Sadly @varooomhad left the forum for a while. Hopefully he will be back.
  11. I know nothing about the non vRS models and Shutters or anything else that other trims have.
  12. The red vRS you show has custom eye brow bits fitted, it has the same lights as the Blue vRS. These are pre Black pack. They had 2 bulbs. And the small blue sidelight bulb is dummy ones. The DRL unit is the Sidelights as well, but lit dimmer.
  13. Welcome to the forum. Maybe you could say what year of Fabia you have and what name of model or trim it has. There are pre facelift models and post face lift and there are different light types, with or without shutters.
  14. 20 kW £14.09 pence. 3.5 miles a kWh, 70 miles. Nonesense. But just discovered a free charger for tomorrow. So that will bring it to ICE price.
  15. Lovely day. Got to airport with 25 miles range. All rapids still down. 1 gent trying to phone CPS. There are cones on chargers and no lights. So directed him to Lidl. Came out to try new BP Pulse at BP and M&S food. Decided which way to use charger port. My bad. Other bay was too close to a parked car. Card would not work. Phone App would not work. Paying full price started on credit card. Got in car as can't hear my self think for traffic. Got through to BP Pulse. They will investigate card. Had to go out to check charger ID. But as it is he already did security on me and had ID number. So he offered to remote start if I stopped the charger. As on the phone I would have been messing about outside and not hearing him and stepping over cable. So likely first and last BP Pulse use unless desperate. Rest of charging will be at the other park and rides or at PodPoint. Lovely day though before tomorrows torrential coming. Smile be happy.. PS. Resisting going into M&S Food. Near fully charged. PPS, re TESLA. Only need it occasionally at Aviemore or will need Euro Central, but there are CPS chargers there when working or not hogged.
  16. i used that, & the Aviemore one, and i will use Euro Central next. I only need them to get enough energy in to Free or cheaper chargers. Over 50 pence a kWh is really not worth using to charge more than necessary.
  17. Volvo EX30 coming in this price bracket.
  18. Thread title really said what it was about. Under £25,000 RRP.s The EX30 seems to be one that people will need to decide on the Screen & Controls.
  19. Apart from Broxburn which takes me 10 minutes to get to and 10 minutes back they are all just a few hundred yards / 5 minutes off the routes i am on and places i am going to. I only need the choices because i have a small range car but i knew that when i went for it. It means that i am going to have to pay more sometimes to get charged and on my way. But i am not going travelling in what can be gridlock traffic like you get in Edinburgh searching out chargers, i would rather get on one and on my way. The Airport Park & Ride chargers down for more than a week is a disgrace. Aberdeen is as bad if not worse & this is why MGF and others are having customers for expensive chargers. They are on the routes, at filling stations, in and out and away. Just splash the cash. Double the cost of an ICE vehicle really. PS Between Edinburgh & Glasgow when cold weather i can now use Tesla non Tesla with the most recent opened up to us Supercharger. Stuff BP Pulse and the Services East or West. You do get half price Wild-Bean drinks with your card (Supposedly when charging.) But i am not paying £2.00 a drink even if that is 1/2 price.
  20. 5 year manufacturers warranty in Australia is there not! Lemon Laws as well. VW Group & their Franchised / Msin Dealerships should know better. The CEO,s have had to apologise in the past for being useless. In Australia VW is not the tail that wags the dog like they get away with in Europe.
  21. Someone might well be able to help. IMHO they should start in EV mode when there is charge in the Battery and if no charge in the battery not be able to go anyplace as it is all part of the PHEV kidology and the WLTP figures and the Tax Break / BIK for business users.
  22. You can not use your 1.6 TDI for work if the engine is gubbed with a broken timing belt. (Just like another Private Hire driver had on here.) It is a Tool, so Service & Maintenance is an Overhead / Running cost. Best get the Timing Belt / Tensioner Replaced and while at it the Water Pump. It is costs you declare with your incomes for tax reasons.
  23. Welcome. Maybe best take it to a Autobox specialist that does DSG,s. Have them check it out and roadtest it. ? Is it just the same in D as in S? Has the DSG been getting serviced every 40,000 miles?
  24. Some might just lease the EV they drive when or if the time comes they want to drive an EV. Or just go with the petrol version.
  25. Use who can do the job, all the gear and more than ideas, doing Servicing & Maintenance correctly. & knows of Recall, Recall Actions, Service Campaigns etc, and only does them if you agree after they show what they are and why required, or not required. @ a Main Dealer. Be sure the Haldex is being correctly serviced by them, not just oil change. Screen cleaned or replaced if your Haldex has a Screen / Filter, which it will. DSG, if there is a filter and there are with a DQ250 or a DQ381. You want that replaced.
