  1. The cost of the Taycan tyres are not really representative of the cost of tyres for many EV,s that people might have, but then EV,s do come in all sizes / weights / power output. Many EV,s are on tyres that are not a softer compond, actually they are harder and have pathetic grip because they are not fitted to sporty cars. They might still wear, maybe on the edges, but they are there to assist with getting range. The prices i checked last week for Run Flat tyres for 20" rims on a BMW diesel were the same price as he paid for the tyres he bought and had fitted.
  2. Yes. Hand or e-Brake parking brake applied does not put the rear brake lights on. @SouthernComfortIt is not really about sitting at traffic lights for the time the sequence of those work. Extended stops. It might be Traffic / Controls at road works, waiting for being taken through in a convoy, traffic at standstills during an accident etc. But then many have no idea what their lights look like from behind when the brake lights are on, some have no idea or could not care if the rear Fog light is also still on.
  3. They as in Skoda UK do like turning a non crisis in to a drama instead of having after sales care. Someone needs to sort the **** up. and the Supplying Dealer can pay another dealership to. Or reach some agreement. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/517506-inspection-in-x-days
  4. @JorgeminatorHow old are you, really i mean how old are your eyes? 'Hasn't really' Well when there is a light, 2 and high level shining with some cars maybe it hasn't. and others are just ridiculous. But then there are Brake Lights that are bright and indicators you can hardly see when they are on like on a SEAT Alhambra. (My Alhambra did not have the brake lights in when in Autohold, Neither did some other VW Group cars up to a few years ago. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/497760-code-out-brake-lights-on-autohold
  5. Glasgow, A £960 fine or actual penalty charge for a vehicles 5th offence. But then vehicles do not pay, that might have to be the Registered keeper or driver. I wonder how many are actually paying or it is now on the hands of the Debt Collectors. http://bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ck5pnzd17p8o
  6. Yes, as in the out of date Highway Code and even in the updated one. If stop for extended times apply the parking brake. As in do not dazzle those behind. Not an issue in daylight or night time if not raining. Many have no idea, or say it does not matter, or others with brake lights have never annoyed them. Sit or move for 10 miles slowly and take up to an hour or more like Glasgow, Edinburgh can be and some change lanes just to get awy from following the worst of brake lights, maybe BMW or Mercedes, Police Volvo X90, and now Electric cars with a light bar the width of the rear. Not that the EU bothered, or with Front Fog Lights that can come on automatically when reverse is selected regardless of what ever might be coming to wards you, Or used as Cornering lights so as someone pulls away from stopped at road work traffic lights or moves the steering wheel an extra light comes on.
  7. If a profile like a pyramid maybe but not if it is an easy oazy once over the top and you are not dropping down, like going from the sea to the mountains.
  8. The great thing is with a PHEV, BEV and the likes and with Apps and info from the car you can check now what uses more fuel / energy. I will give you an example. Fettercairn and up Cairn O Mount and down the the Dee. I do it in ICE, Hybrids and for over 3 years in EV,s and getting up the 5 miles quick and using fuel can use less than going slower. The next 23 miles driven using regen can put so much energy back in the battery depending on how you do it, coasting and running and braking or using regen and not breaking. I can do the circular route of 120 miles Forfar to Fettercairn, Cairn o Mount, Ballater, Braemar, Glenshee and back by Glen Isla using less fuel or electric than doing it the opposite way going by Glenshee and back by Cairn O Mount. Exact same roads at the same speeds and the same climbs / elevations. If i have a loan car or demonstrator that is my usual route i will do if i have 3 hours to kill or maybe less and its a braw bricht moonlit nicht.
  9. There is a Eibach sale being advertised. In the Yeti Section or Yeti Project section you will see threads on lifting a Yeti a bit and without spending a fortune. Applies as much to an Octavia or anything else.
  10. Car dependent but actually getting up the hill at a quick pace and then getting as much regeneration on the down slope can be most efficient as hypermilers know. Some might know the opposite, but i have been a fuel watcher since i had a moped & know the MPG of every vehicle i ride or drive and for the seasons and routes travelled and which route can be most fuel efficient.
  11. @kodiaqsportlineas you know i have no VW Group car on the road at the moment or liable to in the near future other than loan cars or demonstrators but ii have had in the past, and have bought and sold ones and worked on them and learn how things work and then remember instead of just finding out in some random way and giving duff gen. I see you are less of a Main Dealer fan boy these days. Strange that you have had so many cars and servicing but have not someone you can trust to do a proper job at a proper price. Good if you have finally and got your brakes fitted. Back to the point. The cars arrive set to Variable / Flexible servicing, so no need for the Inspection not to be deleted for 12 months time. If at the PDI the Service Regime is changed to Fixed then that is in 12 months, so Oil Service, no need for the INSPECTION. Servicing started being call Oil & Inspection Services in the UK on 2020/ The Service & Inspection can be set to both be at 1 year or both at 2 years. Inspection is not a Minor / Interim service and Service a Major service. There is not just an INSPECTION on offer. Remember at Services at Main Dealers to have that Body Inspection done and logged at Services for the Corrosion Warranty. Even though the T&C,s of the Warranty do not Say bi-annual or periodic inspections are required. Skoda UK will say if no record of them being done.
  12. @BlaiizeI got the 1.0TSI bit but is it with a DSG which they suit or a manual which they do not really. As to the 1.5 TSI, again would that be with a DSG?
  13. Guest_ replied to BTandSid's topic in Skoda Karoq
Getting a full size spare might well be a good idea, and when the wheel comes off the car it has to go someplace when carried and in the spare wheel well is the correct place, so see if it fits.
  14. Skoda managed to source some pretty crap parts but this one discussed here must be the worst of them, but easy to find.
  15. I thought there might be one in the ZapMap link which i had not opened. Looked through all my ZapMap emails for 2022 & 2023, not a mention of a survey in any of them.
  16. @Gaz Surely not my 'Take the survey' from the screen grab off the e-mail i got from Motabiity.
  17. A Comparison Site used maybe at 3 am on a Sunday bank holiday weekend might come up with a Price to Insure that seems unbelievably cheap. But you might go with what they offer, go ahead being sure all your info is correct and honest, pay or take the monthly deal and get a bargain. You might get calls from others, Monday or Tuesday you will maybe need to 'finish' the Insurance Declaration, but you are getting the Insurance at that price at 3 am on Sunday. You can try different Comparison sites. & parked on a driveway is not always cheaper than parked on the road. Location location location / postcode, and vehicle.
  18. That was said tongue firmly in cheek from me about the key not being the issue.
  19. ^^^ That is good, you know what the car has and can do and turn off what you do not need or want. There are morons out today in Frost & Freezing fog that must think DRL,s light the rear of the car or Auto lights have tuned on Side Lights & Dipped beam. They might not know they have a rear Fog light on and they are sitting in traffic. No idea the Brake Lights are on when Autohold is active and they are just sitting stationary in traffic. No idea the tyre pressures unless there is a warning, or the oil is low, or the screen wash empty. They WALK among us, worse THEY DRIVE AMONG US.
  20. Not doing maintenance, not charging or going to charge. I just go WTF you moron. Re ZapMap Survey. I got some Advance ZapMap as part of a pilot with Motability, that was a fiasco as already a ZapMap subscriber and they kept telling me to use another e-Mail address, log in as there was a member. So that got sorted eventually. I use ZapMap daily, and i report faults, errors on locations, new chargers. Sometimes a reply comes days or week later asking for more info. Their excuse was for over a year that Charge Place Scotland information was not available to them. Funnily when i tell PlugShare an update is required they come back in a day or 2 and update within a week or so. Never received or spotted any ZapMap Survey and if i had i would have rated the Providers including CPS. .............. Just received a survey today from Motability.
  21. ACC should really be off in adverse weather conditions, Flooded roads where aquaplaning is a possibility, Snow / Ice etc. As CC should not be used.
  22. What you need to actually look at with the Official Figures from the manufacturers is, is it the roof 15mm lower on the SPORTS suspension or the 'Clearance' they give being 15 mm less. Reason being they sometimes are giving Clearance figures, but that is like with a 'GREENLINE' Model with different models. They had Fabia vRS / Monte Carlo on SPORTS suspension and when you wanted the Option of actual Sporty springs it was then Lowered at the PDI and Eibach springs fitted. The Scala was or is supposedly available with Rough Pack in countries which are not the UK and 15 mm higher. There are models where the Rough Pack fitted give less clearance and if you check they have the same height ground to roof. That under protection is getting scrapped in circumstances maybe.
  23. The SERVICE Indicator is not the INSPECTION indicator. They maybe never reset the SERVICE indicator because they left at Variable, or they reset for in another 24 months / 18,000 -20,000 miles. It is the INSPECTION indicator that was maybe left at each 12 months, rather than changed to no INSPECTION annually and at the same period as Servicing. Or the SERVICE & INSPECTION can both be set for @ 9,400 miles / 372 days, or some are now 365 days and not 1 year and a week.
  24. Are you looking at a Mk4 Octavia, or a Mk3? A mod might move your post to the Mk4 Section if one of these. What is the actual Octavia model coming on that size of wheels / tyres?
  25. Oil pressure warning RED. Low Oil warning YELLOW. Open the bonnet, even do nothing and warning go out for 100 km / 62 miles. Be aware.
