  1. @lol-lol I am alright Jack is you down to a T.
  2. What is academic? England has not got the Nuclear or the renewables and needs gas for generating your electric for your heat pumps. So really up the creak, the poo creak. Boris, Jacob, Michael, Iain and others backed Rolls Royce to be building the new source of local energy. Maybe the PM,s family have as well. Lots of work for Heat Pump Installers, EV Charger Installers, and maybe other trades. Time to get them employed and trained then. Maybe a few migrant workers are just what the UK needs. Train those that got across the channel without a ticket or even a passport. The Scottish First Minister bounced the Westminster PM into bettering her. All i am saying is there are lots of people out there commenting that know Jack Sh!t and get paid for speaking or writting.
  3. Karl McCartney MP on the telly now. 'Not enough electricity in this country'. That country being England. This is about England for the PM / Tories. His constituents seemingly can not afford £60,000 - £70,000 for an EV and they are certainly not buying 2nd hand. The Oil & Gas licences have been granted by Westminster.
  4. I have not heard a single National Broadcaster or Expert or Politician mention that before Boris changed it to 2030 there was Nicola Sturgeon reported to be saying she was going with 2032 while Boris was still at 2035. 2017. After Brexit.
  5. Rishi is going to help those already with EV,s and that need to public charge by not having too many new EV,s compared to the Infrastructure for charging and the pathetic power generation and transmission that the National Grid can supply. 'Simply clever' from the PM who has just made him a laughing stock among other leaders, like those in the US today. Scotland's First Minister has been there. He just makes himself the laughing stock by opening his mouth. Has a country to lead with plenty energy though.
  6. Good @35North We will never know if it would be fine if you had not like others have ran theirs.
  7. If a Dealer fit then that is just the same as Mk2 Fabia Monte Carlo or vRS that you could order with the option springs from Eibach which were fitted at the PDI and were not a modification, it was on the Factory Order just not done at the factory.
  8. It is a 7 speed wet clutch DSG with the AWD so a DQ381. Service at 40,000 miles if you want, or before 80,000 miles but maybe tell them you want the filter replaced. Is the Brake Fluid now at each 2 years and not first at 3 years then each 2. (Mk4 Fabia are showing at each 2 years, they have gone back to what things were over a decade ago.) @EnterName There is nothing that has it @ 8 years or the DQ250,s at 4 years other than the error on Skoda Web Pages. It is by miles not years. There are some crazy price differences being quoted these days. Especially with DSG Servicing.
  9. @in4apennyhow much are they loading the insurance because the car has a towbar, or is this about you giving a false declaration saying no modification from factory but saying it has a tow bar. I have never declared a towbar other than if asked and never been asked if it was a factory fit in the last 40 plus years.
  10. VW were not born yesterday. There are world regions were they still build and sell just what people want. 1.4 TSI,s with a 8 speed automatic. North America, Canada, Australia and some countries in between. They just had to be honest about the emissions & not any problems then. DQ380,s were short lived as to what they went in. The DQ381,s longevity is in question and that ridiculous service regime might get changed anytime soon. VW Group are struggling for DSG,s for mild hybrids for the Mild Hybrids or PHEV,s and have just DQ200-e or DQ400-e,s.
  11. Bump for @MorayDavid
  12. I am pretty sure that @silver1011has a 1.4 TSI and it is VW504 00 / 507 00 so 0w 30 FS III or 5w 30 FS III that is the oil for them before the change over. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/452892-oil-type-in-14-tsi-4x4/page/3 @MorayDavidI think you are maybe misreading the manual. There is the using a different oil for a top up. There is the top up in small amounts. You check the level at Normal Operating temp. Cold is OK to see there is enough oil in.
  13. @Stonekeeper VW made sure there was not poor fuel consumption with a DPF, they introduced the defeat device. They ended up with many vehicles not suitable for purpose, like diesels as a Taxi / Private hire car in towns / cities. Nobody getting compensation got it because the TDI was uneconomical on fuel did they? @Graham ButcherA Fabia Mk2 Twincharger is not a manual car. I have been driving only 2 pedal cars since the mid 1970,s. You keep teaching Grandad about sucking eggs. I do like to know how they operate and i think i have driven every type of Auto, CVT or Servo Clutch type combined to every engine type.
  14. @Graham ButcherMy TDI did actually turn off the engine and disengage gear as it coasted to a halt. But that is what we have had over the decade past, VW trying different systems. See the Video above your last post. @lol-lolhas been posting for years about Coasting by going into neutral. He did when he had a Fabia vRS Twincharger with a DSG. I never would.
  15. @Graham Butcher Turning off an ignition switch is a whole different story. The VW Group vehicles that do shut down the engine to coast to a halt do that, no ignition off, and have for several years now. You need to go google again.
  16. Some people are right then. But the world is still their oyster and if never another car is built there are enough in the UK to last everyone for another 20 years.
  17. Welcome. Pretty sure that Factory Fit Towbars were not an Option on Fabia,s in the UK back in 2006 or into Mk2 Fabia. (I could be wrong as i often am, but then sometimes not.) They would be fitted by Dealerships or a contractor.
  18. Welcome. What TSi a 1.4 , 1.5 ACT or 2.0l. Your car will have come from the factory with VW508 00 / 509 00 which is 0w 20 FS IV because that is what they started using. Unless possibly a 1.4 TSI. That is the recommended oil not the VW504 00 / 507 00 5w 30 FS III. Please yourself. Are you up near Moray @MorayDavid? Maybe your mechanic actually knows the VW Engines and oils. ? What about your other service items, have you got a AWD so Haldex to service. Spark Plugs to replace, brake fluid to change? Is there nothing like this in the engine compartment?
  19. @Graham ButcherListen to the SMMT dude talking on the telly or radio. The requirement on reducing numbers of ICE vehicles first registered in the UK still starts next year. So be that a build up to 2030 or 2035 it is what the manufacturers are working towards. Euro 7 Emission standards will come in and then we will know what vehicles manufacturers have to release then as far as size and price goes for ICE engines.
  20. ^^^ Not an electric car with a fuel tank and an ICE. You can not have a Green Flash on the Reg Plate in the UK with one of those. (Actually there do seem to be some around with Green Flashes with something other than a BEV. ) @StonekeeperIs your 2 litre diesel a 7 seater AWD and has it had WLTP & RDE2 certification ? All kidology anyway. but it maybe is accurate emissions figures with the Nissan under test conditions, not the cheating of the past. After all other world regions tear them a new hole. My 2016 SEAT Alhambra 2.0 TDI SCR 150 PS 6 speed DSG was 137g /km and had 7 seats but was only FWD and could do 60 mpg. It could also not do 25 mpg if used for just a few miles a day for a week. It was the last of the great Defeat Device cheaters, it eventually sipped AdBlue and clogged the DPF.
  21. Main Dealer prices had got to about £275 for a DQ250 DSG. Sounds like they are charging the price for a DQ381 DSG Service.
  22. What a carry on. VW group UK basically announced that their advice for the UK was the same as for the rest of Europe or globally for Dust Free countries. They care not as the cars / engines are out of the manufacturer's warranties. This was in July. Threads every place on it. So TSI,s. If you need to questions TDI,s then that is worth the asking. The belts will last, the tensioners we will see as the years go by.
  23. If the air filter is clean and dry then a shake / dunt and blow it through or vacuum can be enough. A Pollen filter is cheap, but clean and disinfect the area. Vacuum. The spark plugs should be good for 40,000 miles. The brake fluid can be tested, but if not changed for several years it should maybe be replaced.
  24. Welcome. Maybe best ask about your Octavia in the Octavia section. Depends what has been done up to now. Have you looked at the Air Filter to see if it needs replacing? When did it last get replaced? Has the pollen filter been replaced recently, check it. Check the Anti freeze / summer coolant ratio. When were the spark plugs replaced? When were the brakes serviced or the brake fluid replaced?
  25. Guest_ replied to qpr's topic in Škoda Citigo
It is not surprising really, often they have no idea what they are looking to have been done and now it might be Oil and inspection service and then extended scope. There might be a PDI and servicing and PSI when sold used. Many want to see invoices and receipts. A record of some short. Which is why they ask for a paper print out at VW group main dealers.
