  1. @kodiaqsportlineSuper dooper. you are doing just great.
  2. Nobody unless they are in the mood for an argument. & where there are no slots that is just tough t!tty.
  3. Look at what is not covered then. You are not a Taxi / Private Hire car driver, courier or such are you?
  4. Is it this you are looking at? http://insurewithskoda.co.uk/extended-warranty The Small Print / T&C's is what you need to read and see if it is worth having.
  5. They do not 'break', what happens very often with DQ200's is that they require Clutch Packs, or selectors or MCU's or actually new boxes but that is just the weaknesses. Going down to 1st manually is not the issue there. If you do it a few times and the noise or behaviour isas it can be you tend not to do it again. Thew DQ250's have been quite robust, and the DQ381,s are looking like maybe not being so and damn expensive to service and more so to repair. The thing is that you can drive them as you want and maybe those that own them might be more careful with them than those that lease cars and return them after a year or 3. That is then the next owners that might have no expenses or lots to spend out in the future with them. It is only 2 pedal car driving, it is as easy as driving a dodgem...
  6. You wiggle the steering or touch the brake pedal or tap the accelerator in readiness. Engine on. When the Lights are away to go green. traffic about to move, that is how many drive an automatic / dsg. This is how many move smoothly with a DSG without the engine just firing up as you are going to be using the accelerator to move forward. Autohold has the vehicle held for you and the box is in D. Clues from the vehicle in front that has the brake light go on, or go out or the reversing light flashes as they maybe take their auto / dsg out of park, through reverse and neutral and into D. Maybe there are those being a dither and firing the engine just when actually using the accelerator to move a foot or 3.
  7. Someone must not be resetting the Oil Service indicator. So it is for you to know or find out, and tell them what you want the Services set at, Fixed or Variable. 372 days / 9,400 miles or Variable 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles. The correct or recommended oil is VW508 00 / 509 00 so 0w 20 FS IV which is long life oil. Or VW504 00 / 507 00 whish is 0w 30 FS III or 5w 30 FS III Oil. These are for fixed or variable servicing of TSI's. VW502 00 so 5w 40 FS is for Fixed services if you want.
  8. OK. So it will be a MY2023 Octavia vRS. & you never said what vRS you have, TDI, TSI or Hybrid. Someone will be along with the same as you have. ............................... The basics usually with a DSG. P for Park, start car. R to Reverse. N if you want to be in Neutral & the car can start in N as well as P if left in N. D to go. S to go and the gears change at a higher RPM, or because you want to be in S. Move the shifter to M if you want to shift manually. Or in D or S or M start using the paddles. Holding a paddle in will put it back to Auto, D. Practice.
  9. @matrix2020 Your DSG does not select Park when you turn the engine off does it, it has the e-Brake apply, but you need to shift to Park do you not? More or less how it is with the TSI & TDI's now. PHEV's as well but with some differences. Mo
  10. But the OP was not a a Dealers, they were at their trusted VAG Specialist. (VW Group Specialist). Trusted being the point really, because if you have to start questioning their advice then surely they have lost your trust, which is why many no longer go to Main Dealers. People get peed off if their regular mechanics or staff at the place start treating you like a Golden Goose.
  11. The OP has a 1.5 TSI ACT. So a DQ381 DSG as with the 2.0 TSI & 2.0 TDI's that others posting have and with Stop / Start & Autohold and maybe ACC, but how much turbo lag or not is not the same with all 3 engine types when you move off. All 2 pedal cars but different power and the OP's is 150 ps.
  12. If the car feels OK at all speeds and no in balance from the wheels / tyres then all is well. Around 50-60 mph is often where out of balance wheels / tyres is felt. Did you chose the tyre pressure they set and reset the TPMS, or a check and adjust the pressures yourself & reset the TPMS after the fitter fitted the tyres?
  13. @baldind What are you looking for a record of the timing belt replaced and spark plugs replaced? If no record then they need doing at some point, maybe sooner than later. Other servicing is just normal annual stuff. Look at the pollen filter and the air filter and see if they have been replaced any time recently. ? When it needed tyres were they quality ones that were fitted? I take it new dampers were fitted, and i would expect new brake pads sometime in the past year. Do they look OK?
  14. Prices at other Main Dealers around the country might start getting up at the sort of prices @ Hawco in Inverness.
  15. @carefree That is maybe until you have them side by side to compare, have you seen the Mk3 and 4 side by side to compare?
  16. Lets hope they are not still at the In Transit pressure for transportation. Or they could even have been adjusted and the TPMS not reset. Best never to leave you and others safety to someone that might or might not do their job properly at a PDI.
  17. In the past 20 years and from Euro 4, 5 & 6 emissions and getting near to Euro 7 and more electric motors involved there has been very different behaviours with the various semi Automatic gearboxes / DSG's. All sort of engine & gearbox management over the years including defeat devices used by VW Group.
  18. Skoda /VW were using 856 gram a litre. Later when the newer test came in it was 857 grams. If 3.6 litres was weighed if that much was drained at the start of a consumption test then that is 3,081.6 grams. Where the tech managed to have 3,643 grams from is their error. As it is the members car did get a new engine once Skoda UK and the dealership had the error pointed out and the oil consumption correctly checked.
  19. The Slots are there for the job of holding the 'Simply Clever' tidy and not for ventilation. Mk2 Fabia & a Mk3.
  20. Since checking and setting the pressures have you set the TPMS, and then repeated setting the TPMS and still getting the same thing? Is the tyres at the side getting the warning sitting facing the sun rising in the mornings?
  21. @Reeky What do Skoda / VW have as the max torque limit on the box you have?
  22. Plenty owners that did get a Twincharger Engine replaced had to fight to get the Catalytic Converter replaced where one was needing replaced but the technician was not supporting the need to. As it was with the VW Polo GTI 1.4 TSI & Audi A1 1.4 TFSI Twinchargers VW had it in a lower VED band from 2010 than the Ibiza or Fabia, then with the CTHE the Ibiza got reduced to the same as the VW & Audi and the Fabia stayed a band higher. Funnily the Fabia Hatch had ballast added to the rear crash bar so that the Kerb weight showed as 5 kg heavier than the longer Estate car. Even then it was still lighter than the Polo and the Ibiza on the first incorrect Official Weights and then the revised / honest weights later given.
