  1. 3 monkeys. Of the1,800 CAVE engine Mk2 Fabia in the UK VW Group had to rebuild, bring in short units and base engines for more than 20% of those. They even had to replace replacement engines. That is not just people complaining about the odd issues. Destroyed engines, software updates, the breather mod 1, breather mod 2, then Oil Spray Jet upgrade and the Software Update. That is just the CAVE Engines. Then oddly with the CTHE some still were using too much oil and got a Breather Mod, strange, then Oil Spray Jets. Then still engine failures within those 1,100 Fabia Twin chargers. Same with Polo GTI but less cars sold. 2010-2012, 2012-2014, Ibiza 2009-2012 & 2012-2014. and Audi A1 195 ps 2011-2014. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/358101-vrs-mk-ii-14-litre-twincharger-oil-consumption-issues So small numbers obviously, or so VW / Skoda would have you want to beleive. & time after time the same cars knocking about with owner after owner with a lemon. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/294051-cave-cthe-14tsi-just-reply-please-if-you-have-had-an-engine-replaced http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/353149-fabia-mk2-vrs-14tsi-replacement-engines-replaced-how-many
  2. PS Re Battery Recall. No there was not a Battery Recall. There are TPI's, even Recall Actions / Workshop Actions. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions But owners / keepers with cars not getting Main Dealer Services were not communicated with to have the car RECALLED because of a Safety Critical matter and the DVLA giving the VW Group / Skoda contact details. *If you had issues or complained you might find out, you might even not find out and it came out of your pocket.*
  3. The Long Life oil is to VW504 00 / 507 00 so 5w 30 FS II( or maybe 0w 30 FS III. Important is VW 504 00 for a TSI, Fixed or Variable. VW507 00 is TDI's even if on fixed. Leaving an Oil & Filter change to like 18,000 miles might be fine for some kinds of use and higher annual miles, it is not something i would be doing with a 10,000 mile or so or less a year 1.2 TSI. (I would actually use VW502 00 for fixed service intervals with a TSI. & not the long life oil, not as a money saver, just i am not a fan of Long Life Oil if it is my car.) http://volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-drivers/servicing/service-plans/service-schedules.html .................... They were not using VW508 00 / 508 00 in the Factory as early as 2015 with 1.2 TSI's coming into the UK. They were by the time 1.0 TSI's were coming in an GPF's. This still shows as for Variable / Flexible servicing. This does not show if VW502 is OK for the 1.0TSI with GPF just because they do not want to show if it is.
  4. Wrong guess. It has a timing chain, so maybe that and tensioner.
  5. Welcome to the forum but sorry it is under these circumstances. As you say there have been others. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/457559-octavia-diesel-vrs-thermal-incident
  6. You maybe check the posts on this section but if you are buying newer than 2012 then the upgrade was from the factory, but some of these are getting noisy now. Not sure if the front discs are smaller, but they would be really small as they are not much of a brake anyway, they are just there to stop a car and will have done for years now if it never went into a wall. The thread are all here on replacement rear axles and disc upgrades. If you are finding a car with invoices and service record and stuff then great.
  7. There will be plenty of good ones around just find one. They were ok even with a TMC tuning box or a remap. Ones after the timing chain tensioner upgrade, no noisy ones etc etc. Rear drum brakes as standard. Happy hunting. Make sure on the V5c and from the VIN it is a 105 ps if that is what you want because there are sellers that assume or say they are, not all are.
  8. @ruida_silva Now you are on a different track getting to know good or bad 1.2 TSI's / Monte Carlos, the 105 ps or not and the mis-advertised. The TECH edition ones brought out because they were damn expensive and not selling. Lots of different as standard or option pars and standard or modded. Quite a difference between a Manual 105 ps or a DSG 180 ps, but then both can do 70 MPH. Can you not find a Mk3 Fabia 1.2 TSI / Cam Belt. They are a service item though.
  9. @ruida_silva I wish you all the best with that. Dealerships sold and resold duff cars over and over again and never got the hang of Mk2 Fabia vRS and eventually many would just not sell them, they came in as trade ins and went to auction and WBAC and other places ended up with the ones people just wanted shot of. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/481250-viewing-my-first-mk2-fabia-vrs-tomorrow
  10. Bump for @ruida_silva This thread started about a standard pretty new CTHE Estate and on the dyno which was interesting in the difference between the CAVE and a CTHE.
  11. @ruida_silvaNon Factory approved software / engine management invalidates a warranty, that is in the T&C's. There were actually Skoda Dealers back 12 yeas ago that did REVO maps and claimed they were not invalidating the warranty. That was nonsense. The REVO remap for a Twincharger was total crap anyway. What would you call a APR or REVO Dealer for? The APR maps were OK, & REVO did the warning on not remapping a faulty engine and that was that, then for a couple of years never managed to bring out a map for a CTHE but there were those Dealers that opened an ECU and tried. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/302195-fabia-mk2-vrs-late-2012-on-cthe-14-tsi-engine-remaps Things have changed, there are good cars out there with good engines and there will be tuners that know customers cars that are good, and there will be members here that know good cars, their's or other peoples. You have to trust them though. That is the gamble. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/503261-remap No idea what you think Skoda or the Warranty Underwriters can tell you about a Mk2 vRS and warranties other than what is in the Term and Conditions.
  12. Best pay the 5* price to have the Haldex Serviced properly and not just the Oil Changed if the Dealership offers the option at a slightly higher cost. Kodiaq, but the same applies with other models. Some will not leave them as long as 3 years or 30,000 miles when they own the car or not do them if the car has to be serviced to the manufacturers recommendations, guidelines, specifications or schedule, but then that is never always that clear as often dealership staff do not tell customers. Those that do understand and explain what the Haldex or the VAQ is and what Final Drive or a rear diff is and the servicing needs should be praised IMO. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/508389-haldex-service
  13. Ones that can be cleaned are obviously worth doing, then there are thevery inexpensive ones some have that just get replaced. Mk2, and not heated. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510573-windscreen-washer-nozzles-adjustable-or-not
  14. @kodiaqsportlinemaybe on you go and do some posts on the good main dealer services you get. There are plenty do in the Dealer Reviews and in threads and posts.
  15. Have you put the reg number in and see how much the Warranty would be? Really you need to see what is on the Skoda / VW System in the first 3 years for Servicing or Service Campaigns, Warranty work then anything since on the system. The next thing is that you need to read the ECU and see if it is a factory map on it and not remapped. Plenty used cars are remapped which is fine, but a waste of money buying a Warranty if you want the Engine or DSG covered. ............. £260.96
  16. People have wasted money on that before with Twinchargers, They will sell you it. Any known issues are known by Skoda / VW. http://www.insurewithskoda.co.uk/extended-warranty If the car happens to have had an owner in the past that questioned oil use, or the DSG having issues then if you had aclaim they could knock it back. Just a single example, but not unique. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/440772-nightmare-fabia-vrs-engine-replacement-needed ? What are looking at buying, how many miles, do you know it is the original engine, and has it been serviced to Manufacturers Recommendations. If the car is modified as in different Coils, remapped, exhaust system, suspension, brakes then do not waste money on a Skoda Warranty. I had a Skoda Approved Car Care LTD warranty which really was a waste of money.
  17. If it is counting down to from the 24 months setting then it is reset from Variable Servicing. Just the Inspection was never canclled. It will be long life oil unless they are a place that will have used VW502 00 so 5w 40 FS for Fixed Services. 'Inspection service' is not 'Oil Service Due.'
  18. A mis-seting / resetting in the past. There really is no Inspection Service then Oil Service Due. So the car is on Variable Servicing , 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months and the Inspection service needs deleted. Have them clear the 'Inspection' unless someone here tells you how to. Now to confuse more Services are call Inspection & Oil Services.
  19. Not about ANPR, Average Speed Cameras or Yellow Cross Hatch Junction cameras much more about those that are prone to doing under taking. (not the profession) Or knocking on up the road just a bit above the speed limit. You are seen a bit further off from that Fly over or raised parking place that says 'Police Vehicles only'. When you have had points on your licence and your insurance loaded and only travel at the sort of speed all around you do then you might go for cars with the 'Cloak of invisibility'. Just like the 'officers' in Unmarked vehicles do. Actually there are some cars in some colours that means others get out of your way because you are mistaken for those in Hi-viz with white top caps. PS In my area there are very new Traffic Cars with lots of bright yellow to the front and i have seen others putting there brakes on when one is sitting someplace, and doing the same with Enyaq Coupe iC vRS in the horrible colour. I have checked my speed as well when spotting one off a distance sitting at a junction or coming up from behind.
  20. @ffvrs Do you still have the car and did you get the DSG Serviced?
  21. Lets us know what price you get quoted for a DQ381 and ask if they are going to change the filter? I think that is going to be a surprise for some taking in their car. Maybe a surprise for the Service Desk staff if you book online or get a quote and ask if that is a firm price, a Skoda Service & Maintenance fixed price. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/488385-how-much-have-you-paid-for-dsg-service-dq380381-7-speed-wet-or-cambelt-change http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/482244-dq381-service-intervals
  22. The Rear Diff Oil on a 3 year old car would be nonsense, they supposedly check rear diff levels,'final drive oil'. that is not the Haldex. The Haldex Service is due at 3 years / 30,000 miles which is the same as the brake fluid. The brake fluid can be checked 'tested for the H2o content', but the Haldex Service is due when the next owner gets the car, unless it was done previously.
  23. DQ381 and a peach, as long as not a lemon. So the Oil Service Interval is @ 80,000 miles and no Oil Filter. But they have an OIl Filter just difficult / messy to replace. Best have an extended warranty to cover a DQ381 as repairs are not cheap and people have had issues. Hopefully as they are getting to be over 5 years old the DQ381 is not going to be having issues that DQ200's have had over the past 12 years or so. See vid servicing a DQ381 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509581-7-gear-4x4-dsg-gearbox-error-codes-for-a-2018-tsi-kodiaq See Vid DQ381, MCU. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509101-dsg-in-emergency-mode-in-the-cold
  24. That about where it should be 750-800 rpm. 1.4 TSI Twinchargers were up to 1,100 rpm and by 45 seconds to 800 rpm. When someone asked me to check out a car for them that was the first thing i checked they were doing before looking at the air filter to see the state of that. Then it was the spark plugs having plugged in and checked if any fault codes. misfires in a cycle etc. Simple stuff first. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510569-how-do-i-increase-the-dle-speed-on-a-2014-14-vrs
