Delays Octavia VRS IV
@TheWanderer re spark plugs. More taking the pith with those that have 3 cylinder TSI,s. Then there are those with an engine that needs a litre or so less oil than other cars need. Funny how those that get less labour time and parts are paying the same total price including 20% vat. Even buying a meal you might have full portion offered or pensioner / child servings. It is Fixed Priced Servicing and Maintenance at Participating dealers. FIXED to assist the Dealerships participating in taking the Michael.

Tyre replacement for Karoq 1.5TSi (2WD) - 215/50 R18 92W - Limited Choices
IMO & IME that is a pretty low pressure to run them at this time of years on dry warm roads or even wet ones. Easy enough once the newness is off to run them at a bit of higher pressure to see if traction / grip, steering and braking and handling feels safe or the pressure needs dropping.

My Aircon not very cold
I would not have a 3rd party messing about with the car with under 2,000 miles covered and give Skoda the chance to give a loud sucking in noise. Maybe there is a young person you know with the knowledge that will reset the AC via the pressing of buttons. Everytime I have messed about resetting from how the car comes from the factory I end up wishing I had left it to a child to do. 6 years since i messed about doing this, i have left it to competent people ever since. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/419630-aircon-minimum-outlet-temperature

My Aircon not very cold
@gumdrop maybe an idea for the knowledge before getting things reset or adjusted in the system to take a thermometer in the car and once the AC has had a chance to take the interior to it,s coolest see just what the temp is. Eg,. Does it get to 14*oC or lower when the ambient temp is at 20*oC or more.

1.6 or 2.0
Not all are as on the ball as @DAN@ADRIAN FLUX. They can be good with that first policy, sadly not so good when it comes to renewals. (Maybe that has changed though in the recent times.) If only the call handlers were a bit better. Maybe they have improved.

Paint code
That has been the issue now for a while and means you use the VIN or Reg number with a Dealership, factor or paint supplier to get the correct paint / code. ? What colour is your car? Someone here might know the paint code for that colour on a Kamiq in the UK!

WHEEL SPACERS
I am not using anything to justify anything. I am just discussing how things are. Years of people using spacers including members on here and they will know if they had issues and the early demise of bearings. There are plenty that have lowering springs fitted and fail to be sure the alignment is good and then ask about tyre wear. Some never bother checking how the lights are after lowering their car. Then there are plenty with uneven tyre wear and sawtoothing and a factory standard car. (Superbs) Plenty 'my car is pulling left' or my car is pulling right and then the Dealerships can not deal with that, the staff blame the Dunlop Sport Maxx or Continental tyres and Skoda UK approve fitting Pirelli Zero Nero and thats it sorted as far as they are concerned. The issue no longer as apparent or noticeable with the tyres with the stonger sidewalls when first fitted. Funnily some that are not satisfied with that go to a place that knows their arse from elbow and get the engineering / hardware sorted out. Vorsprung durch technik. Cars leave the production line and can have issues and it goes on right to this day with VW Groups Software problems, they are often more interested in getting the cars First Registered and money coming in and fix failing later. Lane Assist issues, KPH / MPH, SOS. 'We do not know much about the engineers that are working for VW Group that deal with issues that are reported to the dealerships'. This issue starting over a decade ago when people were getting their cars new and ex demonstrators with some Fabia Monte Carlo & vRS on 17" wheels. It was the same on some Polo, A1 & Ibiza's. Under 3,000 vRS sold in the UK and 6,000 Monte Carlo with the 205/40 R 17 Tyres from 4 different manufacturers. *Only some were ones with the issue and tyres were not at fault.* http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/319988-monte-carlo-pulling-left-is-this-right http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/325807-newbie-monte-carlo-pulling-left http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/394020-skoda-fabia-vrsmonte-drift-pulling-to-the-left http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/496942-skoda-fabia-is-pulling-left-shoulder-pain-started http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/425398-fabia-ii-2014-wanders-to-the-nearside Dangerously is sometimes used by drivers to describe what some Dealership staff describe as normal. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/329887-new-car-pulling-to-the-left

Front differential service VRS 245
Strange to recommend you half the oil and filter change miles of fixed servicing for an engine that has not really have an issue even doing variable servicing, yet to go longer on the VAQ interval. I wonder how many issues that are seeing with EA888 G3 engines that are left getting Long Life oil changed at 10,000 miles.
-
Front differential service VRS 245
@Noms Who was advising you, was it a Skoda Technician. The VAQ interval is @ 3 years or 30,000 miles. Was this engine oil that they advised at 5,000 miles or 1 year even though Skoda / VW have the fixed servicing even with Long Life oil at 9,300 or 9,400 (10,000 miles) they can never decide how to convert km to miles. https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-drivers/servicing/service-plans/service-schedules.html

Your figure will be right on the first MOT, 13% of even 1.5 million new cars for each year is lots. more when it is 2 million or more new cars registered in the UK each year. The point is that you do not know how long headlights are misaligned and annoying other road users, in the first week as you might spot with some very new cars or just before three years is up, as nobody is checking them unless maybe a drivers thinks the lights are sh!te and gets them checked, The headlights are not checked at a PDI or at a service so when they go badly set is anyone's guess. The context is that someone interested in modding a car and fitting spacers might be driving a car they think more about than lots of the ones driving about with a driver with no idea about a bearing on the way out. Even people that trust to garages for their car to be checked and think that an oil and filter service with a look see means their cars are safe until the next time it goes in or that between MOT's that is all that is required. Plenty drive cars between MOT's car they know need stuff changing / removing for the MOT, change the reg plates, change the lights. I never pointed out that lots of spacers are sold so that was a good thing, just that there is quite an industry globally and there are taxes and duties and it is treasuries that collect those. The day that Governments & their Agencies crack down on the manufacturing in their countries and the exporting & selling of questionable stuff might come one day. Until then bulb makers and brake pad makers and bull bar makers might just continue to put 'For offroad use' on stuff.

"Slight" noise from front brakes on 2008 Fabia 2 Estate
? How many miles has the car done? Are things itemised like when it cost £900? Are there new drums or discs, pads and shoes, rear brake cylinders or the likes listed? EDIT. OK, i missed that brake fluid change in 2020. So that was £60 or less back then with Main Dealer fixed servicing menu at participating dealers cars 3-10 years old.

"Slight" noise from front brakes on 2008 Fabia 2 Estate
@Dixski6664 Maybe the lip / edge of the front discs is making the noise you hear. Whoever did the servicing and maintenance for the one previous registered keeper knew how to get money out of them. That was some cost in 2020 even if all the brake components were replaced. (Fully serviced with a strip, clean grease need not have the owner drop their trousers and assume the position.) PS If the technicians were being thorough and doing things right then if the last brake fluid change was 6 years ago they should be checking the brake fluid for H2o content at the services.

I said (even the strict countries have modified vehicles on their roads.) I did not go on to say 'even the strictest country in the EU permits modifications.' That is what you typed. 2012 was when the Daily Fail and the forums went big on the EU or Commissioners cunning stunts. Those included the idea that only certain people could service and maintain vehicles. Well that would have meant many UK Main Dealers would have not been able to with their staffs skill levels. Then even more recently the idea that only parts endorsed or sold through vehicle manufacturers could be used to stop independent garages using cheaper aftermarket parts. The countries strict on customising and modifying are still having vehicles entering and driving on their roads which are from other countries, if you can understand that. The UK MOT's are so lax that they are unreal and the SVA & IVA was and is not exactly that difficult to get vehicles through. Safety is great, it is wonderful, pity so many cars at 3 years old that had nothing but a PDI after leaving the factory fail their first mot. Actually ones that have FMDSH can even fail their first MOT if not being serviced at a Main Dealers that have just done a Service. Many have had mis-aligned lights from the build. Most common fail being lights or indicators and the 2nd most common is suspension. The UK Government were flying a kite then held a consultation a few years back about the first MOT at 4 years and are now talking about 2 years between to help those out that are short of money. http://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/extending-first-mot-date-to-4-years That would be all the longer for cars with suspension, brake, steering and light faults that never get a service or a crap service to be on the road before that was picked up on. PS, The smoking thing is because so many people including governments, politicians & backers have investments in that, like the Ex UK Chancellor of the Exchequer that was the Deputy Chairman of BAT. (Kenneth Clarke) So now the smart money including the tobacco companies are also vaping companies.

"Slight" noise from front brakes on 2008 Fabia 2 Estate
@Dixski6664 With so few miles covered and so little use of the brakes over the past months do the discs not look a bit rusty after each use and until the next time driven? Is there an actual invoice for the car being serviced and the brakes being serviced and not just an inspection? Have someone look at the brakes if you can not and see the condition of the pads and the discs? ? Is there a service record of when the Brake Fluid was changed? Skoda main dealer servicing does not include much done unless extra is being paid to have it done.

Delays Octavia VRS IV
Lots of people might end up with Skoda Approved Used cars with a VAQ diff that has not been serviced. While doing the Upselling at the Service desk the staff do not know what are important compared to advisable. That is how it rolls with Skoda that can not just set out what is a Scheduled Service item rather than a 'recommended ones'.
-
Delays Octavia VRS IV
The car could have been on Variable / Flexible servicing as it came from the factory and 24 month / 18,000-20,000 mile servicing. A Skoda Main Dealer Full Yearly service is not much if an Oil & Inspection Service & Extended Scope each 3 years. ? If your car has a VAQ front diff was that serviced?

England EV Charging points, a proposal. & location & news on new charging hubs in England & Wales.
@Aviemore where public charging is limited then people might be prepared to pay 60 pence a kWh to get on the chargers. (1 Rapid CPS @ 30 pence, and then a commercial charger @ 42/49 pence.) In Dundee maybe those staying at the Hotel or near might want to use the chargers at that price but there are cheaper options about and easy to get too. It is a shame that the not busy Broxden Park and Ride Superchargers are not part of the pilot scheme where the CPS chargers are crap, but then there is an extension being built there are even pre book chargers which should be up and running before the year is out.

Delays Octavia VRS IV
The spark plugs are only a recommendation @ 4 years / 40,000 miles and plenty cars on service plans do not have them changed. If an Oil & Filter change is due at a Variable / Flexible interval it will need doing as will the DSG at 40,000 miles. ? Has the VAQ had a Service / Oil change at 30,000 miles?

Recent campaign query
Safety Critical and Unsafe seams to terms that can be used and ignored. Lets see how VW Group get on in a country where a court can tear them a new one if there is a tragedy / deaths / life changing injuries.

Brake pad warning light
@Arseneknows Have you taken 10 minutes yet and had a look see at your brake pads front and rear to see how much wear there is on the pads. All they get at a service is a visual inspection and then the Service Desk person is able to call the owner and say the discs are 80% worn and new pads and discs are needed. When asked to ask the Technician what the actual measurement is funnily nobody knows and 80% meant 20 % of an unknown number.

Hill hold :- Is it possible to activate the facility where the brakes are held on when stationary until you drive off?
The VW Group have used all sorts of names over the years. Hill hold assist and Hill hold control. If there is no reason why Autohold can not be activated to work on 1.0TSI Fabia, Scala & Kamiq without e-Brakes then someone might be along to tell how to code that in. Skoda might make it standard or an option.

So the car modifying parts market globally is huge, the sales of wheel spacers is huge and when the EU succeed in having cars in all member countries required to be to factory spec that will be sometime far in the future. (Even the strict countries have modified vehicles on their roads.) The UK might eventually get to that day as well. 'They' have talked about it long enough. For now it will be just carry on as you are and the same old same old discussion on wheel spacers that has been happening since before many asking were born. Legislation is always going to change. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/499135-dft-regulatory-review-consultation-on-modernising-vehicle-standards
