  1. Haldex is the AWD System & there is a requirement to change the oil @ 3 years / 30,000 months or sooner. That is at the rear, there is a pump, it is not the back diff that is further to the rear. ( 4x4 System Oil Change. ) The £85 shown below if any dealer charges that might mean they are just changing the oil and not changing or cleaning the filter.) So really for the Warranty that should be done as that is a Service item. If you want to purchase a Skoda Used Car Warranty that needs to have been done. The DSG needs to have been serviced @ 40,000 miles or sooner and if no record of being done it needs doing. (It is not @ 4 years as this might have people think.)
  2. ? Is your car an iV / PHEV?
  3. Lots of people wish that they were told that lockdowns in China or Russia invading Ukraine might extend the time their new car might take and there would be fires at factories and other issues over and above the semiconductor shortage.
  4. Problematic if VW Group might have issues with any shortages like batteries or materials for battery production even small ones in mild hybrids. Skoda cars registered even if lower emission ones might not be their priority in Lithuania.
  5. @Semiconductor34 What is the Mk4 Octavia you are waiting on, engine / gearbox / trim, is it a PHEV? What country are you in?
  6. @sheriffwoody Have you checked what actual servicing has been done and as the Guidelines / Recommendations. Haldex @ 3 years / 30,000 miles, DSG @ 40.000, brake fluid @ 3 years or since?
  7. You can reset the steering assist to reduce it when you fit these narrower tyres and the steering feels very light. What i suggest is that the sister twincharger cars come with 215/40 R 17 tyres and just the Fabia got 205/40 R 17's. You might notice unless you have 195's with good grip on less than perfect surfaces that there is more flashing of the TC light, but only if giving it a bit of a boot. They might be a bit better where aquaplaning could be a risk. Here if you think you might want to change the setting of steering assist to suit the tyres fitted. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/236545-power-steering-adjustment http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/294303-vcds-steering-assist-polo-gti-setting http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/318138-vcds-steering-settings http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/289717-xds-brake-and-steering-assist
  8. ^^^ good to know. And people buying used cars from RAC approved traders that have a RAC warranty and however many point inspection need to be aware that some places have a car advertised as soon as it gets dropped off at that trader even if they have never set eyes on it because they agreed taking it as a trade in with a distanced seller / buyer.
  9. Welcome to the forum. Someone might know exactly what 15" alloys will not cause an issue. I would go for 16" ones maybe, as fitted to a Fabia Reaction or similar. There is a good search function on the forum and over the 12 years most subjects on Mk2 vRS have been covered. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/339812-fitted-smaller-wheels-tyres-on-mk-ii-vrs Do you really want to go to 195 tyres? I hope they will be decent ones on a 180PS car with a DQ200 DSG. & that will need to be ones of the correct speed / load rating. @Carlstonwill love you and tell you how good narrower tyres are and give you all the scores on the doors. As you say the Spare Wheel is a steel 15" and fits. Plenty run 16" as winter or all year around tyres. *Briskoda For Sales have 16" Wheels / Tyres of the correct fitment for sale occasionally that would be fine.* With the 17" Gigaro fitted 215/40 R 17 or 205/45 R 17 are a good choice if you want to keep the OEM wheels. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/460562-what-size-tyres-fit-a-mk2-fabia-vrs
  10. Skoda UK need to be aware of issues at their Approved Dealership / Approved Repairers. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/502954-called-in-for-warranty-audit The issue is with Skoda / VW Group is that Customer Services was contracted out.
  11. They start from £99 with the RAC & £142 from the AA. Skoda owners / keepers that had Warranty Work were being invited in to dealerships so that An Audit could be carried out on the vehicles. Get the Dealer Principal of the Supplying Dealer to deal with the Incompetence of their staff and the car can have a proper inspection and alignment check and they can purchase tyres to be fitted at a tyre fitter.
  12. The litre from 2012 should be VW 504 00 / 507 00, 5w 30 FS III. That is fine for a bit of a top up of a TSI if it came from the factory with VW 508 00 / 509 00 so 0w 20 FS IV. That is if the car was due for an oil and filter change in the near future, otherwise best not mix specs.
  13. So it is the hotels that lack destination chargers. That is as it is for BEV drivers as well sadly.
  14. @Robster59 Were do you go where there is a shortage of Type 2 chargers? The car can only charge as they do and more likely they will be discontinued before there is any more development of them.
  15. So far on Channel 5, 'Should i buy an electric car' half way through. For some reason the gent plugs in the Mustang Mach-E and says i do not know if it is charging, does not ensure it is an comes back to find it is not. I hope the cost he was being charged was for blocking a charger. (Later when the car is charging there is a blue flashing light at the charging port.) Then the RAC man says all 4 wheels need lifted to recover the car. Well not if a Front Wheel Drive one with the rear wheels not doing any regening. So the same as a front wheel drive automatic, lift the front on a dolly. (Unless the e-brake can not be deactivated.) With a Rear Wheel Drive or AWD just the same than as a RWD or AWD Auto, A Flatbed recovery.
  16. ^^^ Exactly. Watching Vloggers with quite a large following going on about a charger being 22kW when they rock up when they are in a car that was not even charging as quick as the speed they got when on a 7kW is the kind of stuff that is not really educating anyone new to using chargers.
  17. @Luckypants I am talking about the issue others have with muppets that could not care less. This is an issue affecting others i see and at many locations now. eg Larger Hubs which generally are @ Park & Rides. I have no wish to be getting on an AC charger when travelling places and just pulling in to charge, i just need to sometimes go on them while waiting for a CCS to be available. That gives plenty time to check around and see just how long other vehicles have sat on chargers. It will obviously not be the same for those not in Scotland or even in Scotland where there are overstay charges or the need to pay to charge. Sometimes i am charging & that might be where there are only a couple of Rapid chargers and someone arrives, starts charging and gets collected. They do not go to the Slow chargers, Hours later or even the next day i am back charging and the car is still plugged in maybe with the charger cut out, or the car having taken very little of a charge. This is only too common in Scotland.
  18. Not so sure that home charging is the most common thing with EV's in the UK. Maybe that is the case with Private Users but never trust statistics. Maybe the RAC / SMMT / Government say that, but many many EV's in the UK stay at peoples workplace, councils, NHS / Social Work / Utility Companies etc. Now Police Forces and others have carparks and multiple chargers. Plenty that now pay the Energy Cap price per unit of electric at home of 28 pence or more will charge cheaper elsewhere or even free elsewhere. Plenty Plug In Hybrid drivers do not charge at home. ....................... This sort of thing is happening many places around the UK. Thousands of leased EV's doing nothing and that is not just because of Covid 19. Too much public money wasted.
  19. No need to live with squeaky brakes. They can be properly serviced and pads / discs that are all good can help with that. Regardless of getting the service / warranty history of the first 3 years or beyond just as well to get the brake fluid tested. BUT, Maybe not if there is a record of it being changed last year or at the last service.
  20. If there are 40 odd 7kW, 8 22 kW posts and only 4 CCS and 45 kW tethered AC and a lazy driver just parks their small or big battery car for hours on the AC charger it is easy to see why angry charger police hit the emergency stop button on them. CHARGER RAGE / full on going mental is a thing.. It takes someone that does not give a damn or is clueless to put their car on the AC for hours on the only 4 chargers that are tethered when they have a huge choice of bays, but that would require some effort to use their own cable. Part of the issue is the cards not reading and no numbers on the chargers so starting by the app is an issue.
  21. No call back from Arnold Clark Scotlands biggest Motor Group who need to sort out not having done a Service properly on my e-Corsa and reset the Service Indicator or carried out 2 Recall Actions. 1 is Safety Critical. Supposedly. They do not have Automatic Courtesy cars but only they can Service the Motability car even if i could find a Vauxhall Dealer that is not AC and is a Motability Approved Dealer. Any improvement on Range / Efficiency of the latest e-Corsa's would be good, but time will tell, i will try one at some point.
  22. Those driving an EV that needs to get on a 22 / 45 kW AC charger to get charged @ public charger and on their way get fed up of those that sit parked on them for hours that could just Rapid charge on a CCS or Type 2 7 kW charger. All these hoping about 'grazing' and trying out chargers are a total PITA, as are crappy chargers ans Apps and Not Spots. No idea if this car has a 11 kW on board AC charger or just a 7kW.
  23. @Tony R. You read lots and use supposedly. Best maybe read the Electric car section of Briskoda and stuff from people that have EV,s What rubbish about battery cost replacement. Looks like you get your info from the Daily Mail. I have no home charger, the car will be handed back in under 18,000 months and had done 25,000 miles in 18 months. Cost me under £100 in electric but that is luckily because I am in Scotland. Plenty cars over 10 years old do not need new batteries. One next to me has just finished charging for free. Graphene. Graphite.
  24. @Slick2097 Assume nothing about inspections. Read last week's articles on people disappointment with Cinch. ? Have you checked the tyre pressures to see if those were checked / set for safety? They might still be at the pressure for transporting a car. Strapping down.
  25. @AJJD. Why do to you say no Auto Electrician will touch it. Plenty will. As will others professional or not. People that do that Type of work all the time. People with more of an idea than a Technician or Fitter at a Skoda Dealership. Hopefully somebody here can point you in the right direction. ??? Where are you based?
