  1. @Pete_Ex-Wino No help is required. We know how much Petrol & Diesel & LPG is in the UK and where it comes from and how it is produced and just how much electricity is used producing it. The generation of electricity is not that difficult and there is plenty to be going around but the demand is not the same all hours of the days and those generating are paid not to generate it much of the day and those that import it are paid to still while there is cheaper available at that time. The cost being paid by customers is lots to do with cleaning up from what was generated many many decades back and for Green Projects far into the future. The percentage of Electricity which comes from renewables does vary around the British Isles but there is lots of electricity not produced from Oil, Gas, Coal Or Wood Pellets or anything else that requires the heating of water to produce steam. There is so much kidology going on with renewables.
  2. Pretty much so. Somebody has to be using up what is being produced offpeak. The Nuclear in England is not coming from Russia and Scotland generates more than Scotland needs so it goes to the National Grid. The UK's Gas would maybe be enough if it was not being exported to Ireland and Scotland has more gas & electric than it needs when Peterhead is fired up and put electric into the grid as well as gas. https://energylivenews.com/2022/01/31/how-did-the-uk-manage-to-double-gas-exports-amid-energy-crisis Then Scotland has more electric much of the time from renewables and often has much more than needed and the National Grid do not want it for the south. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-56530424 Around 1/4 of Scotland electricity needs. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-35581272
  3. AVIVA renewal popped up for Auto renewal on my van late last night. A crazy 30% more than last year. I went onto a comparison site, Lloyds cover was cheaper than Aviva was this year by 10%. Signed up and paid even though it is 30 days before start date. Went on to AVIVA site and stopped Auto Renewal and said completing this year and then leaving. So today a email thanking me for renewing. Long time holding on, lots of rubbish from the call handler about me renewing and the issue if I cancel. She was told to get on her bike. No need she is working from home. So now nice Emails and easy to access Documents from Lloyds and crappy survey ones from AVIVA. They were so good to deal with in the past. Covid can not excuse everything.
  4. If people buy less fuel in the UK there will be less onto the Treasury in to the way of tax, duty and VAT to be used for sending weapons and aid to the Ukraine. If Non Dom's and those that have their money in Offshore Tax havens contribute more to the UK treasury that will be amazing. Cancelling the Royal Tours and the Celebrations for the Queen this year will save the consumption of lots off oil and gas and food and drink.
  5. A Mondeo thing with car thieves was to give a hard kick to the rear hatch and that popped open. That will still be a thing. A Transit thing was / is use pretty much any ford key to open the drivers door because the locks become so worn.
  6. Sir Richard will no doubt no longer be flying guests to his island and will have cancelled any more flights into space. He has maybe changed his way in the last few years. He will be using his private jet to fly aid to Poland hopefully.
  7. Easy enough to find out, find a car of your choice and 12 yanks and there you are, Robert is your mothers brother.
  8. Same old same old i see daily at various places. Here there are 5 x 7 kW chargers at my local hub and 4 Rapids and the Leaf drivers plug into the 43kW AC for an hour or 3 or longer. Here getting 6 kW. At least the MINI on the 43 kW AC seems to be getting 11 kW.
  9. @nauticatWelcome. Which country is it that you have you ordered your car in?
  10. You did post earlier that they had changed the oil filter after the issue of the low oil pressure warning first happened. The issue with professionals is that customers need to ask ask and ask again what they do and still might not be told what was checked. Good that easily resolved, but a shame it has cost money unnecessarily.
  11. Running cost of electric for a BEV can be lower than an ICE / Hybrid if you have low price electric or free charging, but public charging might well not be. People who have Off Peak electric deals already are pretty lucky, but those not already with as company prepared to give them a good Offpeak tariff are kind of stuck now price cap tariffs at 28 pence a kWh or more. 50 kWh @ 30 pence £15.00. 3.5 miles per kWh 175 miles. Out and about Rapid 50kW-150 / 350 kW is not getting more like 23 -50 pence a kWh and as much as 69 pence. @50 pence a kWh for a charge of 50 kWh you are at £25. If you get 3 miles per kWh then that is only 150 miles for £25. 3.5 miles x 50 kWh 175 miles. 4 miles per kWh gives 200 miles. Fuel at £7.50 a gallon and getting 45 mpg 150 miles for £25. Plug in Hybrids from the VW Groups days might be numbered as they are going to need to concentrate on using their resources of materials and batteries to get full electrics out an registered on roads. Governments might not put up with lots of the Hybrid kidology on emissions.
  12. Audi was adding an 'F' to TSI over a decade now when there has been no difference. 1.2, 1.4,1.8, & 2.0 litre. Much like when they have a DSG called a s-tronic. There was a time when TSI & TFSI engines were different.
  13. Plenty wheel size threads. Bigger, Small, wider etc. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/492759-how-to-make-skoda-superb-mk3-more-comfortable http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/478950-what-size-wheelstyres-will-fit-superb-iii
  14. The ones that do suck out oil and do not change the sump plug but charge for a sump plug and VAT are thieves so if you know they do that tell them they are cheating you and HMRC. It has been too common for years, £2 hear, £3 there and 20% VAT as well. But that is why some get called stealers. That is like those that do a Fixed Price Service as it was and not even look in an Air Box let alone replace an air filter. 50 customers a week charged £3 for something not supplied is £150, times 47 weeks a year is £7,500, times 10 years £75,000 of fraud. Buy the plugs to keep the Accountant / HMRC happy and then pass them on to someone to sell on e-bay and more income. Do the same a few times a day to customers with windscreen wash on the invoice when not any used and that is a nice wee earner.
  15. So much being mixed up here. British Isles which is much more than the British or UK Mainland as there are islands of the mainland of Britain some pretty far south. It is the United Kingdom or Great Britain and Northern Ireland. 'Mainland UK' would exclude lots of the British Isles and not just Northern Ireland.
  16. 40 miles in 4 hours with a 10 minute stop and just enough battery left to get home and it was getting cold in the few last miles.
  17. @Jcb05 Is it confirmed as built?
  18. You do get different WD40 products other than the original jack of all trade one that can leave metal unprotected. Hence rusty push bike chains on kids and adults bikes. I use WD 40 bike chain spray on various stuff I want lubbed / protected .
  19. @AGFalcoas i typed that my brain was not engaged. Too many oil threads today. @MrSquareWas that a Master Tech at a dealership you spoke to? Someone actually from the workshop! That was the issue with Main Dealership staff and Skoda Customer Services, years of denial. Saying it was overblown and do not listen to forums as people only go there with problems. Turned out they were wrong.
  20. Guest_ replied to Shuttlebasher's topic in Skoda Karoq
Skoda Main Dealers have them in the parts department or get them in as they need them when they can not get the engine cover back on.
  21. ? Who is the Warranty Company? A £500 limit is not going to get near to fixing the issue. The oil is getting burned along with the petrol. EDIT. ? Are you getting a very good MPG while using up loads of oil? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/266114-18tsi-and-20tsi-engine-failures/page/75 Sadly you have not struck lucky.
  22. Small point. A FMDSH is a history of the servicing and maintenance done but no guarantee of the Services done to the Manufacturers Recommendations. So a 2015 / 7 year old car that has done 130,000 miles to manufacturers recommendations will have had the brake fluid changed in 2018 & 2020. Oil & filters changes at least 6 times. Pollen filter changed maybe 3 times. The Air filter maybe once but possibly twice or more. The fuel filter changed.
  23. Welcome. I recommend you saying if a TSI or a TDI.
