  1. @Spivo Odd that you ask here if anyone else has heard what you heard from your reliable and well informed source. He must read stuff or listen to what Skoda / VW Group are telling him or his bosses. ? So what dealership does this salesperson work at that tells you more than other Skoda UK customers are being told at other Dealerships?
  2. Super Unleaded as sold in the UK is 97 is 99 ron minimum and E5. (Sainsbury, BP 97 ron, Tesco Momentum 99, Shell V-power nitro +, Esso 99 octane.) 95 Ron Unleaded in the UK is not Super Unleaded and is E10 since last September. Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury, Shell. BP, Gulf, Esso etc etc, all E10 if 95 ron. ........................ Super Unleaded / E5, as you get it in the UK since September 2021.
  3. Mileage might only be 65,000 miles, but it has been 12 years getting to that. Parts fail. Best have someone with the gear and ability to diagnose and fix look at the car.
  4. @Spivo where did you hear it and did you not ask your usual reliable source to confirm or deny?
  5. I just need the car and the caravan and that will be me charging the car free at supermarkets and powering the caravan. I am only about £55,000 short of living the cheap life.
  6. & if that diagnosis has been done within 30 minutes then £60 is all they should be charging and that includes VAT which is 20%. Not that that seems to be understood by Service Desk Staff. Other wise just giving the rate for 1 hour is 'Simply Clever', and that may or may not having someone plugging in to the equipment. They do like customers that are like the goose that lays the golden egg.
  7. On front wheel drive EV's like mine drums would be a good thing as they and the front brakes really need used seldom and are a rusty mess and make a terrible noise and with the e-brake it is really not possible to clean them up by braking with the parking brake applied while driving and any touching of the brakes on a long decline just stops the car as a light touch is not possible.
  8. Just in case anyone reading this has a pre 2013 DQ200. The Service Campaign '34H5' done on some DQ200's from 2013-2015 starting in 2017 was just a software update & no oil change on the DSG's built after the Service campaign / World Wide Recall on ones built from 2009-2012. Rest of the World started in 2012, in Europe / UK not until 2014. That was '34F7' which changed the Synthetic oil for mineral and also a software update.
  9. OT but i noticed a car coming towards me at a junction and thought WTF is that ugly car. It was a black Tesla Y that i was looking at and i decided it must be the black that made it look so strange / tall. @ColinD VW / Skoda just happened to have the most rubbish Drum brakes on the rear on Up!MiiCitigo ICE vehicles as they had on Fabia. Manual Handbrake old tech that after decades of evolution were worse than the decade before. They surely are not as on the bigger EV's.
  10. Welcome. Have you considered getting All Weather tyres since you are buying 4 tyres? There is not much changing in the way of summer 205/40 R 17 tyres from any older threads. You could maybe buy 4 215/40 R 17 tyres which will be fine on your car. Even 205/45 R 17 are OK.
  11. @cheezemonkhaiis it a car that you bought? Are you going to share please what?
  12. https://electriccarsreport.com/2022/04/volkswagen-to-recall-over-110000-phevs-due-to-fire-risk 'Skoda model year 2021.' @GarySN That just means that there might not be the SAFETY CRITICAL RECALL started yet on all or any of the Skoda PHEV's, and then there is Skoda that are slow on IT / websites and their VIn checker for RECALL ACTIONS as they call them. Service Campaigns / Skoda Secret Service Campaigns, need to know basis & no hurry. When a RECALL is called then in the UK it should be here. https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall Maybe within days of it being started, but then there can be weeks and nothing. They were slow on the Engine Cover Recall showing, but they got there eventually.
  13. Is that 3 Variable Oil & Filter services or more in that 80,000 mile Service history? Does the Main Dealer Service history show the Haldex as serviced at 30,000 & 60,000 miles? Then there should be that done twice since then if not 3 times. Best budget for what you might need to do soon if no record of Servicing since like invoices. So spark plugs, air and pollen filter, AC service maybe, the haldex if no record of being done. Is the windscreen in good nick without chips. Are the tyres matching pairs or 4 tyres matching. How do the discs look?
  14. @weehappypixie That is a whole different issue than the one that is about insulation of the battery and possibility of fire or electrocution. https://electriccarsreport.com/2022/04/volkswagen-to-recall-over-110000-phevs-due-to-fire-risk 'Skoda Model Year 2021'.
  15. The sticker in the boot is the indication that it was done. The DSG should be in 2nd as you slow right down to stop, but does it get to 1st when you are stopped?
  16. @Athrx Not that it makes any difference now as you need to sort that but did the car ever get Service Campaign '34H5' carried out after it was called in 2017? That was a software update on some DQ200's from 2013-2015. Sometimes shows here if outstanding. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions
  17. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall Further to that engine cover recall on 2.0 TSI EVO engine there is now the PHEV's recall. **'Battery issues'.** Rather more serious cost wise wise the the VW Group, but then any fire risk is serious for everyone. Skoda PHEV's included. https://www.electriccarsreport.com/2022/04/volkswagen-to-recall-over-110000-phevs-due-to-fire-risk http://www.electrive.com/2022/04/01/vw-forced-to-recall-118000-phevs-due-to-battery-issues
  18. At participating dealers with Fixed Service and maintenance on 3-10 year old cars the first 30 minutes of diagnostics is £60. Hopefully someone here can help but likely you need the fault codes read. ? Do you have a good Independent VW specialist near to do this and maybe do it cheaper including any work required?
  19. Cheers. Standard with a DSG though.
  20. @Lucero Do Mk4 Fabia really come without 'Hill hold Assist' as standard?
  21. If 'they' are the car manufacturers then yes they do, but the EU Governments decided from 2035 & the UK Government from 2030 have decided anyone wanting to buy ICE cars or vans the choice will be to get used ones. Manufacturers have to plan accordingly how their development & production goes and when they stop building ICE vehicles.
  22. What Car come away with some crackers. Any facts or figures need taken with a pinch of salt. They will make a Skoda Fabia Car of the year and then compare Servicing / Running costs and put that the VW Polo is cheaper to service & to run than the Skoda Fabia even though they have the same service guidelines / recommendations, Miles / Time between services and the costs they show have nothing to do with Main Dealer Servicing costs.
