Nothing to do with the GPF then. Other than heating up quickly. 1,400 rpm is a bit too high really. It is a Skoda Tech you should have asked about it right at the start of having the car.

Age of car, and how many miles done and how long have you had it and has it always done it? Plenty fast idle threads. 1.0 or 1.5 TSI ACT,s. There is a GPF, some have the high idle with cars during Covid years and short trips. 1,100 RPM for 40 seconds to a minute then dropping would be normal. 1,400 rpm certainly can cause issues. If the 1,400 rpm is just for 1 minute can you not just wait a minute before driving off?
  3. Long Life oil & Variable / Flexible servicing intervals / oil & filter changes certainly can suit high annual mileage drivers. Fleet / Company Cars, leased, not Bought privately as a Keeper in many cases. As far as Servicing Costs. Go back in this section and the Fabia Mk3 being Car of the Year with Autocar / What car before any UK owners had them. They drove them abroad, it was certain engine. Not all Fabia Mk3 2015. Then when Used cars later they ignored the 1.4 TDI issues, overheating. They were selectively deaf dumb and blind. When they Compared the VW Polo with the same engine / drivetrain the MAGAZINES showed the Polo was a lower running cost. Kidology, pure kidology. It was not about the Guesstimate on residuals. Not taking into account the Same Service Schedule, recommendation, advice, guidelines and cost of identical consumables. So what was it VW labour charge compared to Skoda Main Dealers services.
  4. Not all engines went to VW508 00 / 509 00. Some Euro 6 VW Group diesels stayed with the recommended VW507 00 and 0w 30 FS III. Quite a good choice for a TSI if you do not want to use 0w 20 FS IV. If you do want to then just do it. You can lead a horse to water but you can not make them drink.
  5. VW Group were and are only bothered about the WLTP Certification and they struggled to get some engines / models done in time. As it is their old way of running diesels with some diesel in the engine oil was no longer possible when they ran the tests in their own facilities for VW, Audi & SEAT. Skoda were not implicated in the cheating that came following on from the Defeat Device Scandal. That 'false emissions figures' meant they suspended some sales and had to buy back some early Euro 6 petrols and diesels.
  6. Welcome. A moderator will be able to move your post to the Fabia Mk2 section. Maybe an issue with the Battery, maybe the terminals or the earth. Someone might be able to help in the Fabia section.
  7. For collectors / speculators or just those with enough cash money.. @1 minute 50. They could surely have got a good detailer to get the swirls out.
  8. Simples really. VW Group just started putting in 0w 20 FS IV at the factory into most engines other than some TDI,s before they started having to get WLTP Certification. With 1.0 TSI,s it was about when they got GPF,s, the first ones had no GPF. WLTP from September 2017. It was not & is not Backward compatible. So really not pre 2017 / 18 engines. Euro 6 engines were what we got from the end 2015, early 2016.
  9. VW Group are not Oil producers, Tyre or Wiper Blade Manufacturers, Glass Manufacturers or many other stuff that the vehicles need. As it is tyey sometimes buy into the places they procure components then try screwing them over. 0w 30 FS III so VW504 00 / 507 00 is just fine for fixed and vriable if not going to VW502 00 for Fixed oil change intervals.
  10. What is relevant is we are talking 1.5 TSI ACT,s regardless of engine code or year. 2023 the VW Group / Skoda UK changed from their previous Advice, Schedule, Guidelines or Specification from the @ 5 years / 50,000 miles. As to is going over 10 years or 120,000 might not be Simply Clever before changing. They are not caring what happens out of warranty.
  11. Approaching speed bumps differently or in S might make some difference, but that does not resolve why there was a GRINDING noise. Turning the radio up resolves faults for many, or at least they do not hear things that might concern them/
  12. No it should not. But you have a grinding noise and should not, so no idea if Clutches / Flywheel or something else is the issue / cause of that. Sorry no idea, close inspection underneath the car is all i can think of. Noises come from some source. IS YOUR CAR FWD ONLY, no HALDEX, no propshaft to the rear? So coupling.
  13. I doubt it will improve the fuel efficiency using the 0w 20 FS IV. Real World. WHAT MPG / Mile / km per Litre do you get now? The non LONG LIFE OIL used will not reduce the Engines Longevity, it might even improve it. ? Does your car have a GPF? Do you experience really cold temperatures where you are so Cold Starts of the engine? Thin oil, hot climate, and a low powered engine. I would use the 5w 40 FS OIl, not the crap VW used for the WLTP Certification.
  14. Coming up for the VW Guideline for a Service of the DQ381. ? Has it been done early / already? EDIT. I see you have had problems / faults, so there is likely why now GRINDING>
  15. Now i think i understand when it happens. But, the GRINDING NOISE noise sounds like an issue. Not wanting to turn a issue into a crisis but something is not right someplace. So maybe tell us about the car like, how many miles / km done.
  16. @autliebe Bottom chart was what was recommended when Euro 5 so pre Euro 6 and then the introduction of the WLTP and VW Group going yo VW508 00 / 509 00
  17. VW 502 00 Usually 5w 40 Full Synthetic has been the Oil used for Fixed Services from around 2010 for TSI.s. When VW 504 00 /507 00 was use for Fixed or Variable. 5w 30 FS III Then VW508 / 509 00 00 then became the spec from roundabout 2018. 0w 20 FS IV. (WLTP getting introduced in the EU / Europe even if the World Harmonised test was not World Wide.) They never showed that you can still use VW502 00, but that is up to you. No idea about your engine number. REALLY USING THE NOT LONG LIFE OIL AND CHANGING ANNUALLY / 9,600 MILES OR SOONER SEEMS TO BE SIMPLY CLEVER. Are you really worried about emissions or fuel consumption? Personally i would not run the LONG LIFE oil, run the 5w 40 FS and have a long lived engine. If 5w 30 FS III can be used as an option for fixed or variable servicing /oil changes, then 5w 40 FS will be fine for Fixed Service Regimes, GPF fitted or not.
  18. 'Coasting is a mode where the DSG comes out of gear. Goes back in if you touch the accelerator or brake. Are you just rolling on off the accelerator but still in D2 not just D? Do you use the brake and accelerator at the same time. 2 feet not just 1 foot used?
  19. Was it coded when the new battery fitted?
  20. If OK means none of the tyres had lost pressure since the last time the TPMS was set, or none had increased in pressure with a Brake binding or a bearing going and the hub wheel heating then all good. Not a tyre pressure issue just an App issue. Car to phone communication issue. ? How far have you driven since resetting the TPMS on the car?
  21. There must be 1.5 million BEV,s in the UK by now then the other electrified cars and fires of these seem not to be that common. It is like some very sad vloggers are waiting to wet their pants in excitement when there are fatalities, Homes or blocks of homes or car parks or other buildings going on fire. The comments on many Youtube postings about the Government not allowing reports of EV fires is just odd. The UK Government can not organise a pith up on St Patrick day let alone control the media.
  22. Good to see a review which is more Real Life than most if not all of the other 'See no evil say no evil' just ignore any glitches.
  23. Southport is actually in Europe, just across the Channel from the rest of it.
