Build date and registration date
@fm7 What is an "on Arnold Clark auto"? I know who Sir Arnold was, i know the Dealerships, i know they can be crap, but what do you mean by on Arnold Clark auto? Do you mean an advert, or some certificate they issue?

Should I buy a 2.0 tdi 150?
IMO a TDI is not suitable for your usage / short journeys. & as for what use it has had in the 8 years up to now we have no idea so what the readings are for the DPF.

1.2 TSI Yeti - recommended service intervals
Even if a car only does 50 miles a year between MOT,s or even less it would be ridiculous to not check the Air Filter every year and see if small rodents have a nest in there. As to New Air Filters every 6 years / 60,000 miles, up to 2019 that was @ 4 years / 40,000 miles, every 2nd Major Service. Air filters need changed when they need changed. Location location location. Dirty City use, behind smoky busses / taxis, or Country side, maybe sea side, maybe damp or whatever. Service according to Use and location and not by a Main Dealers tick list which ignores much of Preventative Maintenance or what was SERVICING, Inspections and proper reporting of issues, checking fluids or replacing.

Has anyone experienced any malfunctions with their 2025 Skoda Superb?
New cars sat Bunkered for months awaiting WLTP Certification & not allowed to be exported back in 2018, and again thousands and thousands during the Covid Years as they could not be transported around countries in the EU / Europe-UK. Long times at a dealership should never be an excuse for the cars that are delivered to customers not fit for purpose and not reliable and which causes grief and expense to them.

1.5 SE TSI Idle
@Nosheds 'When cold' could be starting when an Ambient temperature is below freezing, so lets say Minus 5 degrees Celsius or starting when it is a 25 Degree Celsius ambient in Summer. If the high RPM is their to heat the Catalytic Converter or GPF then the 30 degree temperature difference in ambient temp might make no difference. The 'Anti stall' with a manual or some manual cars and how the Engine Management is might well be an issue and one that needs addressed by Skoda / VW Group. ? Is it really only 1 MINUTE at the high idle, and even if you think it is best to start and drive off, are you really doing that before 1 minute has passed?

the truth about electric cars
For decades the Gas Pipelines, Aero Fuel hubs and pipelines, substations and national grid have been at risk. The Forties Pipeline coming ashore on the North East Coast and crossing Scotland to Grangemouth has been as are pumping stations and where LPG / Gas is removed are. Many points at the side of public roads and marked. One such under 2 miles from me. Sometimes the Security is at higher levels like when the UK was involved in attacking Libya. Sewage / water treatment plants attacked will have a huge affect on the population in that area, or wider areas.

1.5 TSI Oil Consumption
Oil required in 7,000 miles would not be an issue. 1 litres is not an excessive amount required Do you know the oil was in area A of the Dipstick when the Oil was at Operating Temperature, parked on the flat and after a few minutes of stopping the engine after the last Oil Service? & was it 7,000 miles ago? If it starts off with the engine oil a little low after a service it is worked a bit harder. The 1.5 TSI ACT i assume is using VW508 00 / 509 00 so 0w 20 FS IV, so different from the 5w 30 FS III the Rapid used, or not as the case was. BE SURE NOW YOU KNOW WHERE THE OIL IS TO CHECK AS YOU SHOULD ONCE UP TO THE NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE, to see if there is a difference, and so you can then know where it should be when checked cold.

the truth about electric cars
1 of 3 Substation was on fire. Not a very large Substation as can be seen with the flyovers on the telly. As it is Data Centres that use huge amount of electricity were not down, and yes a different area, but then it is The National Grid. Heathrow best be one of the first places to get a Small Nuclear Reactor when the UK Government stops talking about them and gets on being sure where they are being allowed to be and who is going to pay for them. If Internet Companies in the USA can have their own Nuclear Power generation then surely the Biggest, busiest airport in Europe can. Not just passenger flights but all the freight we are told they handle. Surely a very good profit making business with the Huge Airport / runways, so where does all the money go to. Major Shareholders. Ardian, Qatar Investments, Public Investment Fund, GIC, Australian Retirement Fund, China Investment Corporation, etc etc. So much for UK and any type of security, Import / Exports, Travel etc etc. Nationalise Heathrow...

EV real world range and cost to charge
The past 600 miles in the Electric MINI had cost me in electric the same as if I was driving a Petrol car / MINI getting 50 mpg due to being able to use cheaper Public Chargers. Previous trips using more expensive chargers has been as much as d 25% more expensive than an ICE vehicle Recent charging had been the 110 miles or so first full charge at 6.7 pence a kWh. Then near 50 pence to 62 pence a kWh. The cheapest being 47 pence on a 11 kW AC charger. When it is 70-85 pence Publjc charging then cheaper to use an ICE. It is a small battery so only about 33 kWh from a home charge. About 3.3 miles to a kWh on longer trips of mixed roads.

@EnterName you seem not to identify as a Far-right nutter without a Tesla. Or what ever it is that you are.

Remote parking assist Superb Mk4
They were bringing in a law and likely did, then more recently there are cries to restrict Remote control.
-
New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
App was useless. I just rocked up and used a Credit Card. PS. On the AC charger now, minimum charge South Ayrshire Council £5. It should be 47 pence a kWh on the AC but CPS app shows being charged 62 pence. This had happened before. Once I have 11 kWh I will stop and charge to full later on a Rapid.

Remote parking assist Superb Mk4
OT, but is it legal to use this in a public place, or a place open to the public in the UK, eg Car parks? Does your / Cars insurance cover being in control or not of a car while not in the car? Genuinely interested.

SERVICE SCHEDULE
Test brake fluid for water content. Test Coolant for strength. (Anti freeze / summer coolant / rust inhibitor) As to the DQ200 DSG and changing the oil in the box and MCU plenty do it or say to do it because they are serviced desk staff. As to as soon as at 5 years or 60,000 miles that is the owners choice but plenty mess up perfectly ok boxes. I would rather have an extended warranty covering the DSG. Oil in the Gearbox and in the the MCU to change. Different from wet clutch boxes where there is only one oil and a filter. PS @exiled2000 you post in the MK2 section about servicing your MK3 Fabia.

SERVICE SCHEDULE
There is no schedule, guidelines, recommendations or advice from Skoda / VW for servicing a DQ200 DSG and changing the 2 oils. So not at 40,000 miles / 4 years.

My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
2nd charging stop today and 2nd time ElectroVerse card was not accepted on Charge Place Scotland charger. I have one more charge to do today and I will see if 3rd time lucky or then I will contact them. The ElectroVerse has been OK up to now but it is a few weeks since used it. Nice cheap charging at this location just 1/2 mile from Stirling Castle View Park and ride. 38 minutes for 20 kWh £10. £1.45 for first kW then 45 pence a kWh. Then £1 a minute over 50 minutes. PS. Last night used new Chargers at an Arnold Clark dealership in Glasgow. 55 pence a kWh. This morning in Girvan on a 11 kW AC @47 pence a kWh. The CCS / DC is 62 pence here or at Turnberry public car park. Cheaper is at Trump Turnberry in the Golfers car park 60 pence. Supposedly for guests. Or at Dowhill Farm. 55 pence.

Rust on door sill
Read the Corrosion Warranty, holed panels. Perforation. That panel is not holed. It is not coming through from inside the sill is it? It is damaged paint external. 6 years old and allowed to rust. Has it never been spotted until now when Serviced and Body Inspections done at Dealerships. Part of Servicing or they say it is even though not done by many, and not part of the T&C,s of the Paint Warranty (3 Years) or the Corrosion Warranty.

Dacia Spring vids.
Competition price wise. "They don't go quite so further!". Who would have thought, smaller battery put in less electricity to 100%, go not so far and it costs less for that electricity. Given that the kW price is the same that is just amazeballs. NOT!.

VW Confirm entry level ID1@£17000

the truth about electric cars
@lol-lol The Cargo ship hitting a Tanker off the UK coast had all the latest technical gear / radar etc and was supposed to have a human look out on the ship making headway. Ether the equipment and look out on the bridge were not doing their job, or maybe someone steered the ship exactly where they meant to. Just one of those things??

1.5 SE TSI Idle
No. They are useless. They are anyplace a call handler is with a Laptop. SKODA / VW GROUP TECHNICAL is not based in South Africa. Who you get that will have no more Tech knowledge that using the Net might be. Use your Warranty, The Dealership is your agent, have them talk to SKODA CZ, or VW UK.

Knocking Sound Under Bonnet – Need Advice!
Handy if you just say what the car / engine is and not have members need to look at your profile to see a 1.4 TSI DSG 2017. How many miles done now? Is this the same car that has had many many various issues? If a Mechanic or Technician with the car can not find the source of the noise then guessing is all that others can do. Giving them all the info there is helps a bit.

1.5 SE TSI Idle
What did the Master Tech at the Dealership say? 'They all do that'. or 'Never heard of that before'. Did they not communicate with the Imaginary SKODA / VW Technical department? Who would say they were INVESTIGATING. DVSA are not interested in many SAFETY CRITICAL things like Fuel Rail leaks and Power Cuts / Engines cutting out. Get a named Communications Manager or Resolution Manager or Technical Adviser if dealing with SKODA / VW UK. Not just some call handler or another.
