  1. Welcome. How many km has the engine done running as standard? Is it a manual gearbox?
  2. You use the electricity to produce Green Hydrogen as is happening some places already. And you do not hold back Pumped hydro storage that had investors wanting to fund. You allow the Battery Storage applications. Obviously none of this might matter to the Capital City of England because they can get cheap electricity just because. No need for anyone there to be bothered by how green or not green energy reached there. Run pylons hundred of miles from where ever.
  3. The plan is 10% less ground given over to farming. By 2050. More nonsense and that will be England. It will be for more houses built where people do not want Solar Farms or pylons. Or turbines, battery farms or anything else spoiling the countryside. Talk about idiots and that is really the general public. Townies often. Like complained about Countryfile last Sunday. That is the other subject. Stopping eating meat to cut down Emissions from livestock. The livestock that will not need land. Not to live on or to feed them. But then townies do not need farms. There are shops. Supermarkets were fruit and veg should not be wrapped . It can come from factories clean. Like eggs and milk comes from factories.
  4. Let's just remember the elephant in the room. The National Grid. The non UK owned National Grid. Profitable and never underpaid and always looking for more investments and money to spend while never not making huge profits for the owners. Not fit for purpose yet all there is until there can be Regional Grids, with companies that can get local generated electricity for the local first and foremost. Only when they have had what they want at their fair price should areas producing not enough be able to buy at a premium. As it is it is the reverse of that with the National Grid.
  5. BP should have had a totally different company to do Green. As should every Oil and Gas company. If the electricity generating can not be profitable then the system does not work, and can not work. Everyone is creaming off money and looking for nice earnings from the product. The product is Electricity. It should be Nationalised. It is an essential just like drinking water and sewage. It is a requirement of the whole country. 4 countries and every person . PS. The government and local councils delay every plan. Every development. But then the morons that block stuff are just local or not locals that use electricity.
  6. Big plans. Needing others money as investments. Truth of the matter the price people and companies can pay for electricity is not allowing the huge profits wanted. As it is now all the nuclear clean up is being paid for by us and the decommissioned nuclear power stations are on the never never. We pay now for the cheap power older people had and pay towards the supposed green future. Those on big money income forget that many pay maybe as much as 25% of net income just in electric and gas.
  7. The UK can not generate the energy cheap enough for all it wants. Battery factories. AI data centres. To process all the unemployment benefits for the manual workers and office and call centre staff not employable.
  8. How much did they get previously? They are not taking the £60 million. I think that BMW knows that Car manufacturing will be uneconomic in the UK and they are not talking the small incentive from the UK to invest more into the plant in the UK. They never will build EV,s. Probably not ICE vehicles for much longer in the UK. EV,s do need to be built near EV battery factories. Less movement of just batteries.
  9. There are tidal rivers in cities and towns around the UK where they have to be concerned. Glasgow knows the risks of the sea level rising.
  10. The other posts here I have made with the Cambelt change of guidance, UK, dust free country referred to TSI,s. Specifically 1.5 TSI ACT,s but other TSI as well. As it said. Check particular engines. TDI,s being different Fish Kettles.
  11. @dogfoot welcome. Best say what you have, is it a 1.6 or 2.0 TDI rather than a TSI?
  12. EV Production in Oxford stopped last year and they have just announced the future planned EV production in Oxford is binned. But the MINI,s built there are still required to be trained to the port or put on transporters. But that is just how things are, they are not moving the factory.
  13. Silly or ignorant Radio Presenters on Radio Scotland & other media have stated in the past 2 days 'I do not know people who can afford EV,s they are very expensive'. This is on the subject being discussed on any news / discussions about BP cutting back on Green Investments and maybe Net Zero being held back. There are experts that point out that 2nd hand are cheap and EV & ICE prices new being much of a muchness. Sadly nobody says to the presenters, not always female ones, 'Do you really not know people who can afford EV,s?' Governments / Politicians are the issue. They say one thing and not even do another, they do nothing of any relevance to the things said. Arse & Elbow. They as in European Politicians came to the conclusion that China could stop the support that European Manufacturers and others countries manufacturers could get in the EU or UK. Too long have they been giving breaks and hand outs to companies that could make profits if they built and sold more efficient and affordable cars / vehicles but instead built Bigger, Heavier and were allowed cheating of Real World Emissions.
  14. Really a PHEV would suit me much better than an EV for using when not at home and getting low tariff charging or being able to get cheap charging. I have done 1,000 miles in a week using diesel and getting under 45 mpg so not cheap, but not really as much as if 800 miles had required Public Charging with the ridiculous prices for Rapid / Rapid +. Or the inconvenience of Fast charging on AC in South Ayrshire and a minimum £5 charge.
  15. Welcome. Never noticed that. But your PARKING LIGHTS require the indicator stalk up or down. Ignition off. one front and one rear sidelight on, Maybe one reg plate light.
  16. Welcome. They told the truth. Not a Service item scheduled, recommended, given as guidance or specified. Did you not get a list showing what was covered under the service plan? GET THE WARRANTY PROVIDER TO SHOW WHERE IT IS LISTED OR IDENTIFIED AS A SERVICE ITEM, & WHEN DUE. ** Get them to show where excluded in the Warranty T&C,s.** Not so sure that it needs replacing, but if they are determined...... It is the first i think ever mentioned on here and lots of 4 year old 1.5 TSI ACT,s. ? Were the spark plugs changed, and has the Air Filter even been checked, or replaced?
  17. Many seem finding the simple way not so or can not be bothered doing it. Just like manually checking tyre pressure or topping up washer fluid. No warnings and they are doing no checking.
  18. @Tilt Are you speaking about the BMW and no Dipstick? I had a Renault about 20 years ago with no dipstick. Level shown on the dash.
  19. Air filters should be inspected and cleaned / replaced by Location location location. Where used and when dirty / getting blocked, so like every year look. every 6 years / 60,000 miles is craziness from some person saying it who knows nothing about if the cxar is used in a city, countryside, in a desert. Seaside or mountain side.
  20. Brand is not important . Oil to spec VW 504 00 /507 00. So 5w 30 FS III for fixed or variable oil change interval for a TDI..
  21. If the car is just out of the manufacturers warranty how long have you had it for and when did it start behaving the way it is?
  22. Highlighting is good. UK Fire Fighters and Bosses and Authorities are probably learning lots from those in the USA and globally. As to the BEV,s and them on fire and their batteries being recycled really every Recycling Plant Fire being mentioned by Bloggers / Vloggers might be just that. FIRE ! PS We learn that we need to be damn careful because sh!t happens and it is happening lots. So what have we learned today that we did not know yesterday from an Ex Firefighter and the Media?
  23. He / She needs to reduce their worry because the Warranty they are selling you requires them to sell a Fit for Purpose vehicle and it will cost them if the Haldex is faulty. If there is not a record of it being Serviced in the last couple of years / 20,000 miles then it should be done. The Service Schedule is 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner. ? Can they Service the Haldex, do they work on VW Group cars with it, or where they get work done?
  24. Welcome. Sorry no idea. As to servicing, none for the DQ200 DSG. Cambelt on the 1.5 TSI ACT is an expensive job to have done, but luckily now a long time / miles as VW / Skoda recommend, advice, give guidelines. Oil & Filters and Spark Plugs, Coolant, Brakes and anything else very much as with any VW Group Petrol vehicle fro 2019- 2025; Not accurate.
  25. Every Recycling plant fire is not going to be related to EV batteries, and what does anyone suggest, No more Lithium Batteries?
