  1. Welcome. It may be the Alarm Battery. The Service book that came with your 2011 car showed the Siren alarm including it's battery as due replacement at the 5th fixed Service. 2016. Many are still on the original and some are already replaced, and some got a battery and fitted that and never changed the whole unit. There are threads on the forum about that.
  2. There are threads on this forum where people have retro fitted the filler lid. There are ones where the Simply Clever features are then deleted from later models, like torches. Then there are features like door protectors that break easily and Dealerships are not interested just as Skoda are not. There are Journalists tickled pink when the Ice Scrapper / Window scratcher is in the Filler flap. They obviously have never been frozen out of a filler flap. There are those that are still wondering why their umbrella or umbrellas were missing at handover.
  3. It need not be overnight, it can be any amount of hours. So that a car is like lots of people use cars ICE , Hybrid or EV's. Their cars, hired ones, borrowed / demonstrators etc Fill them up, go to bed and set off early, maybe not from home, not from a charger, not pre plugged in, maybe last charged at a charger 8 hours earlier. PS EV's need to suit a work life balance for many of the driving population and not just those with their own charger or one at their property or places they are staying at. .............................. Families need to know what a car is like for comfortable transport, comfortable heat, no steamed up interior glass or damp once parked more than any other car. Just drivers in an EV sitting charging is different from people and animals in adverse weather sitting 30-40 minutes in cars with no wind deflectors on windows and no place near to shelter. Here 133.4 miles in a new car with just a driver and 10 mph over UK max speed limit.
  4. Welcome. Water Pumps are a long running fail issue with the VW Group, like timing chain tensioners and door seals. They really seam to to be able to procure or manufacture good ones all the time for all vehicles. The use of tap water can be an issue regardless of who the cars manufacturer is & the correct coolant is important but then when the issues is not related to these then it is more than annoying. The DSG gearbox pre 2013 with DQ200's only was addressed from 2014 in the UK with Service Campaigns, there is still denials from VW Group ever since over issues and even about pre 2013 ones.
  5. Lots of threads on here on 'Posh fuel's, Super unleaded, some say Premium Fuels. The higher Octane is going to be worth using if you think the car runs better, gets better fuel consumption or not, or just because you want to run it.
  6. Welcome. Did they put in 98 at the PDI? Doubt it, and do they run demonstrators on 98? Doubt it. 95 is required, that is the minimum. and if you use that then try 98 ron you can decide. That is up to the driver. In the UK that would be 95 which is now E10 and then Super Unleaded comes in either 97 or 99 ron minimum and that is what you need to buy if you want E5.

@Fux How many litres of petrol is that used to do 370 miles? We have yet to see any posts on here of anyone requiring a replacement GPF for their TSI which is fair enough considering they were fitted first in 2018 on some models. Time will tell what the cost is for a new GPF when fitted at Main Dealers.
  8. VW Group should be able to say after all the years of R&D if you can charge to 100% and leave the car an hour at temps above freezing then fill the seats with a driver and people or 100kg per seat and 100kg in the boot and drive 110 miles, park for 1 hour and then do the return journey and have still power in the battery. Thomas might do just that if they give him one. Maybe others will if VW Media Team can not be bothered doing that and filming it. Drive 2 to 3 hours or so and 3 hours back and show real world rather than surmising. It is not rocket science to know how far you can actually travel on roads if you just bother to do it.
  9. IMO no Family Sized EV in the UK should be described as a 300 miles plus range car until. You can charge to 100% and leave it sitting maybe overnight. Then you get in with your family and stuff regardless of the weather and drive anyplace 150 miles away using any road type and at UK NSL's, then leave the car at least 1 hour and then all head back 150 miles and get there with maybe 10 miles range minimum and not have anything in the car reduced because the battery has reduced power, heating or cooling. ................................... Actual real world efficiency of the cars with ambient temperatures below the teens with just a driver will be interesting to see as the figures this vlogger got are not impressive. If the distances are with cars going non stop or with just one or 2 stops then that is not the same as broken journies. If the numbers are just a calculation of maybe driving 20% of the miles and then multiplying then they can not be trusted. The Born (62) usable battery of 58 kW battery will be lighter than a 77 kW. The ID.3 (82) is 77 kW usable so comparable with a Born 77 with weight much the same but maybe wheels and tyres being different. Born 58kW @ 90 km / 56 mph did 207 miles, 207 miles divided by 58 = 3.6 miles per kWh ID.3 77kW @ 90 km / 56 mph did 289 miles, (Summer tyres) 289 miles divided by 77 = 3.75 miles per kWh Born 58 @ 120 km / 75 mph did 150 miles, 150 miles divided by 58 = 2.6 miler per kWh. ID.3 82 / 77 kW @ 120 km / 75 mph did 202 miles, (Summer Tyres) 202 miles divided by 77 = 2.6 miles per kWh.
  10. @bobcr Is 95 ron (Octane) petrol in Portugal E5 or E10 or is there the choice of which you can buy?
  11. First vid of towing real world UK that i have seen. (Any on a track with an empty car, boot and unladen caravan seem pretty pointless.) IMO just 100-120 miles of range in a small EV / small battery EV can be a PITA, but having to unhitch a van to get a charge with a tow vehicle could soon lose the shine.
  12. 400km / 250 miles would suit many if an EV can do that with 4 adults, luggage and heating / ac and cooler weathe r & winter tyres or even warmer weather still on the winters. Not even getting near that with just a driver is real world time after time with EV's and unrealistic 'WLTP / Published numbers'. EDIT. An update vid thankfully. This shows just how rubbish some reviewers 'guessing' ranges of EV's having maybe only driven a few miles and then computing from that. Then constant driving can be very different from the battery having several stops, cooling down and then driving on again.
  13. TESLA UK will have to do a bit better than they appear to have with cars PDI's before new owners pick up cars. It is not clever or sensible that drivers will drive away in a brand new car with brand new tyres with them over inflated as they might have come from the factory or off being strapped down on a car transporter. As a Corporation they need to be aware of corporate responsibility to their customers and other road or pavement users. Technicians / Fitters and managers are rather lax with things like safety.
  14. Maybe it did cut out a bit. Check the battery is secure, check the battery terminals are tight. At some point you will have to habe the spark plugs out and see if needing replaced, the air filter looked at and see if servicing has been done there and it is a clean one. What petrol does it get is it E10?
  15. Was your fuel tank near empty? If you have only 63ps then climbing hills and issues might be expected. Try the hill again driving as you would not overtaking and see how the car is. Is servicing up to date, plugs, air filter, fuel filter.
  16. Welcome. Trying to pass in 1st gear even someone on a pushbike would likely be an issue. Trying to pass someone going uphill at 10 mph in first is not a good idea really in a 1.2 Roomster.
  17. Seems like getting the car fixed will be more economic than the amount of oil change and filters you are doing.
  18. Over 330 miles from the 77 kW battery is fantastic if you get that, that is about 4.3 miles per kWh. If he has actually driven 330 miles from full and had some range left then great. If just quoting Official WLTP & 'may get up to 335 mile range' then shut that door!
  19. An amazing location & track, quite a car and what a driver.
  20. Suzuki launched a new little car and the UK Motoring Journalists gave good reviews for the small cheap city car they tested when staying at All Inclusive Hotels in the sunny climes driving left hand drive cars. They arrived in the UK and that was when it was found that if you braked hard the car accelerated as the firewall flexed on the right hand drive cars. EDIT. Maybe just the lack of braking power Autocar said they discovered on 2 cars with the Suzuki Celerio in 2015. http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-31093206 What Car / Autocar make a Car, Car of the year like they often do before any customer ever gets one in the UK, they drove left hand drive ones. They have done that pre-christmas in time for TV ads when the cars were not being delivered until the start of the New Year. eg Mk3 Skoda Fabia.
  21. ??? Is the car still for sale? What is wrong with it? If the car runs OK it is not an issue. If the work was done there was a '2 year peace of mind warranty' given so Skoda UK know or should know if the FIX was done. If not needed then good, if done and all well then good. If nobody knows other than looking to see if the Flow device is fitted then that is what you do. Someone could have had the Fix and someone could have had that rolled back, maybe even a remap done & flow device removed. That message comes up when vehicles have been done, and in the past that message came up with vehicles that needed done yet owners were told even at Main Dealers they did not require doing. Long and short, 'Simply Clever' Skoda often do not know their ars3 from elbow.
  22. It is not a surprise that the cars were put out on sale as they are car manufacturers and if VW Group waited for fault free and properly tested vehicles they would be out of business. They took Software inhouse, they had Average Co2 emissions to meet and had to get cars first registered in the EU and in the UK to be achieve these as at the time they still did not have enough Partner Manufacturers that assist the kidology of these figures by them having EV's and Hybrids actually produced and selling that were fit for purpose. VW / Skoda took the pith to save paying millions in penalties for their emissions being too high so they got their lower emissions ones on the road and some are unsafe and EU and UK Authorities let them away with it.
  23. If it is the Dealership & it's staff being 'Audited' by 'the Warranty Proveded so VW Group and wiling volunteers are being asked to bring in their vehicle then a proper amount of payment is the fair thing. After the car has been given a proper inspection and report done an extra years Warranty cover would cost them nothing as there should be no claims on a well maintained car. If it is marketing or part of VW Group knowledge gathering for their 'All in Warranties' then they are taking the pith. If people are fine with fuel and a valet then that is their business. If someone is going to be vacuuming the car and giving the exterior some new swirl marks then they could go whistle.
  24. @Andy_EnyaqIs it here? https://jkm.org.uk ? Are they a VW / Skoda Approved repairer? Do they do Skoda Warranty repairs? Looks like they should have all the gear and more than ideas. My friend's car was in the hands of incompetents with Parks Skoda Hamilton. They needed an independent specialist to get the job finished. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/444617-7sp-dq200-dsg-failure 1 new MCU, they messed that up, got a 2nd and it got new clutches. Shows what the diagnostics cost was with them MCU, total bill with the pathetic Skoda contribution.
  25. Back when Alisdair Stewart was the Skoda UK Brand Director having been with Bentley (Aftersales / Warranties etc) and various other positions within then the Senior Team he had gave that reply at the begging of an issue being esculated. But then they quickly learned that there were customers about that knew more than them and already had done the research, talked with Tecks, Master Techs, Independent Engineering experts and even those that they had 'Reached deals with' and that had signed confidentiality agreements. Nobody from VW Group was going to stand in a Civil Court in Scotland and tell just how many failures they had in and out of warranty & how many deals had been reached with External Warranty Providers that got DSG's free to settle claims. PS 1st 30 Minutes of a diagnostics is £60 according to Skoda Fixed Price Service & Maintenance @ participating dealers on 3-10 year old cars. The place already gave some ridiculous 'diagnosis' for work required which would be in the region of £3,000. Which was nonsense if the DSG had not even had a reset / software update to see what was what.
