Low oil at 5000 miles
@AJ89 Facts are better than Chinese Whispers and Internet myths. Many Twinchargers were not and are not oil users or excessive oil users. They were certainly not designed to but a ridiculous 3.6 litre oil capacity is an issue and that the oil can be 1.3 litres low and no Low oil warning and maybe a low oil pressure warning coming on first is what saved many thankfully. PEOPLE NOT CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL COLD AND THEN AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE WAS AN ISSUE. First and foremost the Dealership Sales people driving the Demonstrators, Techs getting the car ready for sales, new or used, and those collecting and driving these cars that had Long Life Oil, Super Unleaded petrol so lots of 'Detergent' and suffered from bore wash due to components, software and poor design and manufacturing of components. Rings, scrapers, pistons, inlet manifold, cooler spray jets, and the consumables, spark plugs, coils, oil filters and the choice of Long Life oil and Long Life / Variable Servicing. Your friends car was faulty. Probably had the Breather Mod,and software update, then the Oil Spray Jet mod & another software update, and eventually a replacement engine, or it should have got a replacement engine. IT WAS GUBBED ! (Even replacement engines failed, some cars have had 3 engines since being built.) ***The only Skoda with a 1.4 TSI 132 kW Twin Charger engine were Mk2 Fabia 2010-2014/15.*** They were famous for excessive oil use with faulty ones which was an issue because Dealership staff said things like you just did about the Ibiza as though that was just to be accepted. They even said that 1 litre oil use in 1,000 km / 621 miles was acceptable when even the 0.5 litres in 621 miles was not. So over a 1/4 of the 2009-2012 engines failed and then even 2012-2014 engines still failed in the Twinchargers in the Skoda, SEAT, VW & Audi. Mostly the 180-185 ps ones but not only those, also in 160ps ones. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/294051-cave-cthe-14tsi-just-reply-please-if-you-have-had-an-engine-replaced http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/358101-vrs-mk-ii-14-litre-twincharger-oil-consumption-issues http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/353149-fabia-mk2-vrs-14tsi-replacement-engines-replaced-how-many

Service measure 10H6

- Service measure 10H6
Lots of people to inform. 111,000 or more. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/503052-vw-audi-skoda-seat-safety-recall-more-than-111000-cars-at-risk-of-fire- Find out next service date
Is the car not telling you while you sit with the ignition on when the next service is due by scrolling to Service indicator?- Low oil at 5000 miles
@AJ89 Light use is exactly when they might use oil. Short cold start journeys & oil often not getting up to an efficient operating temperature. But that is as with any engine however many cylinders or fuel type. Then running the oil level low and having the oil working harder as a coolant and not checking or topping up for 5,000 miles or until the Warning Light or Message comes on is not that smart. If the oil was low already at 1,000 miles on a new engine it was lower still at 2,000, 3,000 and 4,000 before getting to 5,000 miles and the warning. Light use / low daily mileage / low annual miles is exactly why 'Fixed Oil & Filter service regimes' are recommended for that type of usage. https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-drivers/servicing/service-plans/service-schedules.html- Fabia 2 - Alarm Issues
http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/460585-alarm-keeps-going-off- mk4 Octavia rs
@nickbrookes76 Welcome. Is that new as it left the factory and delivery miles only or an ex demonstrator?- Main Engine Wiring Loom
The loom for a 2009 1.4 TSI might be enough info, and maybe even Manual or DSG does not matter. I could understand a mechanic not wanting to mess about with a 13 year old used loom, but then it would be an Auto Electrician i would be using. There are companies that will build a new loom, but that might be as much as the 5,000 euro quoted. @pjgroveCan you get a price from CZ for a new one? T he dealership you got a quote from were maybe just not interested and came up with a figure enough to put you off.- Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
Lots of people with Plug in hybrids or BEV's do not have Home Chargers or require to do overnight charging. They might charge at work, many do their charging at supermarkets and might not need long if only doing a few miles a day or week, and also charge at public charging and as the infrastructure is being built around Scotland now with Park & Rides with dozens of 7 or 22 kWh chargers now charge while the car is parked and they use public transport.- Main Engine Wiring Loom
Welcome. I would suggest a 'used' loom from a car breaker would be a possibility. Maybe a long shot though. Not sure why a new loom for a 2009 car would be available in the UK.- vRS Engine Cover Recall
http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/503052-vw-audi-skoda-seat-recall-more-than-111000-cars-at-risk-of-fire- VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat: Safety Recall - more than 111,000 cars at risk of fire
Skoda owners might eventually be told, they might hear it here first. This one, & a thread in the Octavia section and now one in the Kodiaq section. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/502882-vrs-engine-recall http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/503054-what-is-the-engine-security-on-a-multi-point-inspection-report- What is 'Engine Cover Security' on a Multi-Point Inspection Report?
What a pity that Service DesK Staff lack communication skills with car owners. Especially when Recall Actions are current. Something lacking with Skoda / VW and how they accept Authorised Repairers and Franchise Dealerships.- Added to cart, New Fabia Monte Carlo....but....
The gamble is a price hike overnight. Surely there must be one coming. Interest rate rises, energy, exchange rate etc and that is just with the UK who do not have a war in a country very near and that is a producer of materials and parts required to manufacture cars.- Find out next service date
Probably if a service reset was done on the car. ? Is it not easier to check on the cars dash & the Service Indicator and see how many days or km till the next service? That is if it was set at the last service, either variable or flexible.- Fabia 2 - Alarm Issues
I never worry about 'disabling' an alarm and the insurers and the car being stolen. Hopefully not recovered. If the thieves are caught are they going to grass me off because the alarm did not work? Even if an alarm is working that does not stop anyone doing a smash and grab of stuff from the car.- Remap
It will be all pro's. Cut out the possibility of cons. Say where you are or how far you might be able to travel and maybe someone can recommend someplace to you. Start with a car well serviced, that is the engine and drive train. So an Engine with no issues. (If there are issues do not tune it until resolved.) Find a good reputable tuner, get the car on a dyno, have them do their remap and check the performance after on a dyno and the road. If there is not the gains you are paying for have them remove the remap.- Added to cart, New Fabia Monte Carlo....but....
Welcome. Sounds about right if the prices are increasing tomorrow. ? Are you in the UK, and what is the guesstimate for delivery to you of the car if you order today? ? Do they have any pre-ordered and on their way to them that they can sell and not just put in the Showroom?- Protein Supplement Advice
I have been taking Brewers Yeast for 40 years now and Sea Kelp tablets, Cod Liver Oil, Glucosamine Sulphate, for about 30 years and will likely for the rest of my days. The years pass but the products hardly change. I used to take Desiccated Liver Tablets daily but stopped taking that around the time of mad cow disease. She maybe binned them. EDIT. Just ordered 6 months worth of Desiccated Liver tablets as readily available again & i am upping my daily miles on my bike and reducing food intake and hopefully diabetic & blood pressure medication as my weight reduces. I do not eat beef or lamb and only very occasionally i have bacon. Basically i seldom have hot cooked food other than soups or potato based dishes and keep processed foods to a minimum. For me it is about bowel movements being early in the day so never a need while cycling. So i eat fish or chicken (stock for soups from these), eggs, cheese, pasta & rice, honey, fruit and veg, beans, whole meals, grains, nuts, pulses / lentils etc and drink milk, water, decafe tea or coffee. No extra sugars or salt added but sometimes spices. Cheaper bulk buying or subscription getting a discount.- WTF WOW EV
'Like the mother ship'.- Water Pumps - Water Level warning lights - Overheating - Head gaskets - Warped heads.
I suspect that there will be less Mk4 Octavia being used globally as taxis / private hire cars and less Mk3 Superb if iV's as taxis or airport transport than cars pre 2020. That is based on no actual data or facts just really on how Skoda have become with vehicles in the UK but that might not be as they are in the rest of Europe or the world. Skoda UK and Main Dealerships are very much an issue with issues many owners have, but then many more are happy during their ownership.- Cupra Born
The issue very much needs to be the efficiency and possible range really of a 58 or 77 kW Born at the various temps of maybe below 0, & 0, 5,10,15,20 or 25*oC as found in the UK over 12 months. Any WLTP figures given might be achieved some of the time in some trips at times of the year. Any Family Sized car with just a driver that struggles to get 3.5 miles to a kWh when the temp is in single figures needs flagged as being so. 58 kW x 3.5 miles= 203, 77 kW x 3.5 miles = 269.5- Cupra Born
There needs to be toilets, mobile / wifi reception first and foremost. The UK is a big place and more than just about Main Roads and Motorways and Companies and Business's getting trade. Those places can get on with developing their business. Bjorn jumps about just him and his other half earning money while filming in Norway or elsewhere as do other vloggers. Some people want transport and not a whole lifestyle change and buying food all the time at stops every 90 minutes. Setting out for a 3 hour drive and getting home or back again in another 3 hours without charging is what a 300 plus family car in the UK should be able to do. If not it is a 250 plus mile car or a not even 200 mile plus maybe. A 300 mile plus family EV for the UK might need to be ones built to do a max 93 mph with passengers in it comfortable and less to do with Performance, 0-62 mph and loads of stuff journalists like. Good handling then they complain the ride is hard. Well sprung and not wallowing. If they want sporty then maybe driving a SUV / Crossover size EV on your own is not what you actually need. - New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
