  1. I am always sure to declare modifications but Inever ever have i needed the need to declare a service item like a replacement air filter going into a OEM airbox. Fitted plenty reusable filters over the years. I think there was a pith take in actually charging you anything extra.
  2. But neither were past CEO's and Brand Directors of Skoda or VW when it comes down to things. Working for Boots the Chemist before becoming an After Sales Warranty Manager with a car company. Actual Mechanical Engineering or Vehicle Mechanics training or qualifications that few in a Dealership have, even Workshop Managers or Warranty Managers. Service Desk Staff with an interest in cars is not what Dealerships want serving customers. This one at least had an Engineering Degree. Off out of Skoda UK to VW USA which usually last a very short period of time because...... Instead of punting them give them promotion to a horrible position and that means they resign rather than getting a big pay off.
  3. No idea on the price. Not quite sure on the 2015 Euro 5 1.6 TDI CR not being impacted by the VW Defeat Device Scandal and not already having had the fix, but they wrote what they wrote. There were plenty told the same by Skoda / VW but yet the car got the fix. As long as it runs OK it does not matter. PS Interim Services were 9,400 mile / 12 month Services done between Major Services at 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months. It used to be Minor or Major Services, then there were Major Services but some wanted oil changes sooner so Interim. Changing names / terms confuse Dealership staff as much as owners.
  4. Members here got upset when i posted the Resolution Managers Linkedin page which showed where she had worked. But then she was and is the gate keeper and responsible for many a warranty claim being knocked back and also where they have new cars they can not drive for weeks or months. 'Nothing to see here move along it is all overblown on social media'. People only go there to complain. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/484705-kphmph/page/15
  5. @Dimo. I usually expect an Autoshop to have all the contacts for getting parts new, refurbed or used. Just because they are in the trade. So is it certain it is the transfer case, not Haldex or rear diff?
  6. You got the oil you need in the is first post. Sadly Skoda never make anything simple with oil like in an owner's manual. 'contact a dealer' type rubbish. TDI,s need the long Life oil. And that to suit the DPF,s they have. @UndertheRadar. My apology. I missed the TSI. And somehow thought TDI, please excuse my ignorance.
  7. And clutch packs get replaced. Even within 3 years. There are dealerships with all the gear, techs with training. Maybe just not enough with experience of DSG,s. You do not want to be the one with your car getting someone's first try at a fix of. Refurbishing has never been a main dealership thing where many are Fitters. Hence the best trained go set up as an Independent or go work for one.
  8. @Senaid I know, when on a phone you will not see that. But you typed about 2 weeks, a few days, 'to get their car once in a country'. The UK is no longer in the EU and the lockdowns were very different over the past 2 years, and transportation for a period in time. Cars were sitting waiting on transporters, PDI's etc. UK 2 registrations a year. Dealers desperate to get cars ready and registered before end of month now, and and of quarter. Then cars for the 1st April that can not leave until then. Last year not registering too many high emission cars as the UK is in its own pool now different from the EU. They achieved that.
  9. ^^^ That is OK and your choice. You show as having a 2019 TSI. You will not kill your engine. The OP asked about a 2020 TDI. His car can use the old spec but came with the newer spec oil that VW Group used to get the WLTP results. EDIT,. Sorry @UndertheRadar he never asked about a TDI.
  10. @BPL The correct oil is the correct oil and you are not wanting to mix specs / oils. ****With a TDIi it would not matter if it was on Fixed Servicing the Oil is still Long Life that is used.**** With a TSI an owner might go with VW502 00 on Fixed Service regimes. But VW / Skoda no longer show that as suitable with the engines with GPF's even though it is.
  11. That is correct. VW 509 00. 0w 20 FS IV (VW508 00 / 509 00) In an emergency top up you could use VW 504 00 / 507 00 So 5w 30 FS III or 0w 30 FS III
  12. Plenty threads in the Performance Section. If you own the car you are just get a Remap and declare with your insurer and void the warranty on the engine. There is no advantage in going for a tuning box as some people think, such as being able to remove it and no trace etc. eg http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/480946-tuning-box-tested-dsd
  13. @SenaidReally who you meet and in what country you are talking about in which countries is only you that knows. As to Skoda Dealership staff or Customer Services, many do not lie they just repeat what they were told by someone that was told something and that does not mean the first one really knows. As with a person at a Service Desk who gets on job training from someone trained poorly in the past from someone that gets on the job training. Some of the car salespeople were maybe fast food servers a few weeks previously or even selling sports clothes and shoes.
  14. As normal. No new Gearbox fitted as some seem to think is what happens. They start internet myths by saying they are. New boxes do get fitted, often after the Robert the Bruce's spider actions. Try try and try again doing the cheapest fix first no matter how inconvenienced a owner is. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/501404-automatic-gearbox-issues As has been the case for over a decade when a MCU is needed, the story about building one, then they arrive and the software is wrong and more often than not it is the Techs available at a dealership that are wrong / not qualified to do the job. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/487133-mechatronic-unit-failure
  15. @zetzet That is plainly not correct as there are plenty that get a replacement MCU when needed and do not get a new DSG be those wet or dry clutch ones. (VW have their own refurbish plant in Germany for DSG's and engines. It is where some engines and DSG's are mated. There are dealerships that use contractors to do work on DSG's but not with Manufacturers Warranty boxes that go back to Germany for refurbing. Or to Skoda. There are those that get MCU's refurbed or get exchange units, but that is customer paying or extended warranty work.) Skoda build over 2,200 DQ200 DSGs a day in normal times for over 40 applications in VW Models and have been doing for years now. 10 years. If there is a 2% failure in that production that is a lot of faulty DSG's but the percentage fail is greater than 2%. These DQ200's do not just get replaced if the a replacement MCU is what is required. In the past 10 years there has been a World Wide Recall of DQ200's excluding Europe that just got a Service Campaign 2 years later (started 2014) , then a change in the oil and software and then another Service Campaign in 2017 on 2013-2015 DQ200's. then another recall in Australia on ones again from 2009-2016 and then issues with ones fitted to 1.5 TSI's and more software updates, and the issue 2015-2018 with Clutches and Software. Vorsprung Durch Technik. 'They will be more reliable once all are fitted with mild hybrids. Well time will tell.'
  16. Produced & unfinished cars sat bunkered for many months last year & unfinished is not ready to put in transit and import to any country. They still are sitting for well over 3 months. Once in a country cars that are meeting their Certification & Type Approval so complete and safe as far as the countries requirements can sit long enough before getting to a Dealership and getting a PDI has happened a year ago with Lock Down in the UK where dealers could not accept cars. In normal times in the UK a dealer might have to have a 10 weeks to get a new car first registered and out to a customer and the money coming in for that car. They might have a quarter to have a car sitting in a showroom before needing to get that first registered and on sale, or into their Dealership fleet as a demonstrator or courtesy car / management perk for a while.
  17. @DR79Maybe an idea to say what size of tyres you have from new. Do you just want Summer tyres for your car?
  18. Some 'Asking prices' are ridiculous and many are not fooled by the false 'Shortage' of used cars while there are dealerships, forecourts, auctions and private sales cars a plenty about. Sales might be cooling on anything that not fuel efficient.
  19. @Bob3 What is the story with your car, km covered and how often is it regenning that you are aware of? Is you oil level where it can be, full enough and not overfilled, but not low? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/498021-excessive-high-idle-on-2017-superb-20l-150bhp
  20. @ChurchyySmall points. The Clutches replaced is not surprising as some had issues & 28,000 miles is as many others had issues from 2010/11. The Mechatronic Control Unit is attached and they can have issues but the clutch packs are not part of the MCU. The DSG will likely of had Service Campaign '34F7' carried out sometime after 2014 and that was a software update & the Synthetic Oil changed to mineral. There will or should be a sticker in the spare tyre well with '34F7' on it. No worries if there or not as the car runs fine. Surprising that the original water pump is still fitted. Check visually both rubber belts. The Engine replaced at 42,000 miles probably had the original belts refitted to it.
  21. Fair comparisons are what is more often needed. Cold start and pre heat or not and heading off and how far they actually go. I will forever be surprised that those that say bigger wheels affect efficiency keep ordering in or buying cars with them if they go on longer trips. Do they really think anyone cares how big their cars wheels are on an EV? Do
  22. They do fit bigger batteries in some SWB vans. Like a choice of 50 or 75 kWh from Vauxhall. Miles quoted are going to be lovely warm weather rather obviously, and the difference from 20*oC to 0*oc might not be 20% less, it will be 50% less around town and maybe only 30% on runs. Then those that drive car derived light commercial vans now fueled by petrol or diesel working in Low Emission Zones might well just need a replacement that is not an ICE and that can be run at 1/2 the cost of the ICE vehicle.
  23. @Bob3 Going up to an indicated 124*oC oil temp is not an issue if the ambient temp is high, the vehicle speed or load is high as long as it drops when you slow down to below 100. If you are just trucking along at 70 mph / 113 kph on a cool day then maybe that is too high. Is there fresh oil in and enough of it?
  24. They are very reliable without doubt when working. Not so when they go wrong and require the dealership with all the gear and trained techs. When you have that or good mobile EV Techs you are sorted.
