  1. @Lee Thanks. I did see guys back and fore into the garden months back and full harnessed up / rope access type gear and a contractor. My son is in Rope Access and i looked but never paid attention, i thought '3 fellers' From Ireland....
  2. Guest_ replied to mistac's topic in Skoda Karoq
Checking cold is simply clever, engine not started, oil drained, before a journey. (the way 1.2 44 kW engines with 2.8 litres are checked.) But then the oil level should be checked parked on the level, oil at Normal Operating Temperature and after a few minutes. 90*oC or so is not Warm. Near twice the heat you have a bath. A few minutes is 4 or 5, not 15 or 20 minutes of hanging about once you stop for fuel or what ever. Not Rocket Science. Tyres checked cold. (Unless trying to see why a TPMS warning.) Oil checked HOT, but know where it is when cold. & UNDERSTAND AREA A. Above Cross Hatch. 2nd Page. 'Warm' is a Skoda translation error, German to Czech to English...
  3. @Lee Someone is taking the Micheal. Pole is just in a garden. 3 gardens away. EDIT. Ahaa still wrong way up.
  4. Or when knowing the size required ebay / gumtree / BRISKODA for sale / wanted is where many find a suitable Used Spare wheel / tyre. Used / Unused. Matching the 4 on the car or an Emergency Spare / Saver of space.
  5. I had to look at your profile to see it is a 1.5 TSI ACT. ? What price did they give to do the job? ? Is there a leak from the water pump?
  6. The 2018 Kangerooing issue with a 1.5 TSI ACT and the Patches / Fixes really has nothing to do with a 2024 car. The only way to know if a car is issue free is driving them. After 6 years you would seriously hope the issue was revolved after the Service Campaign / DVLA RECALL action has been carried out. Someone has been getting plenty use out of the car getting to 193,000 km.
  7. If it is true that China (The Peoples Republic) is buying TESLA shares fronted by others that is interesting or is it just Fake News. Buying while at a low is Simply Clever as long as there is not going to be a crash. Maybe a better bet than VW Shares.
  8. @lol-lol More likely that they die before ever being bust. If you think you have your pension and taxes sorted then so do they. You really have no idea just how many little fingers The Donald has in so many pies. Globally. He loves making Tax losses. Spending others money.
  9. Very possibly the Supercharger is disabled. Water pump / Supercharger Clutch. It should be coming in at 2,800 - 3,500 rpm with the Turbo and no turbo from 3,500 rpm.
  10. The Donald said he would have the pink one. No way is he having any affect on the markets and desirability of a Tesla. But it looked a good choice to me.
  11. @peewee I agree 1 million percent. & that is no exaggeration. But before the new Advice / Guidelines in 2023 the Dealership and VW / Skoda UK would have been saying 5 years / 50,000 miles when other Dust Free Countries were @ 130,000 miles. I just wonder where the Dealership staff you spoke to came up with 120,000 miles. ........................ 60,000 mile / 6 year Interval Air Filters ridiculous but many service techs will not check. & Total missing the VAQ diff servicing interval in the Skoda UK chart. . Sunroof service offer seldom done, they prefer to Up Sell AC Servicing & Brake 80% worn advice.
  12. But it is a 1.5 TSI ACT you have and not one from the 'Kangeroo series / era', not a 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.8 TSI or 1.6TDI. So many different power and torque engines and engine management and DSG mapping over the past 2 decade. Now they are doing it all over again with DQ381,s which looks like being a bigger fiasco than DQ200,s 2009-2012, then 2013-2015, 2015-2018. Small numbers / percentages maybe but then VW Group never reveal the failure rate. Millions of the DQ200,s built by VW and then in the Skoda factory and eventually they should have things right. Just a pity they never hold up their hands to the duff ones they produced and sold, landing people with a lemon. Now the DQ381 seems to be growing to have a higher failure rate than the DQ200,s 2009-2012, 2013-2015 that had Recall Actions, and 2015-2018. Not that VW Group ever reveal the actual failure rates or admit Fundamental Design, Material, Manufacturing or software faults.
  13. Elon Musk can lose 99% of his personal wealth and very likely be a wealthy man as long as he lives, as will be his nearest and dearest. 'Tariff' might well be his favourite word as well as his bestie. Good cars as far as cars go, and a good charging infrastructure in the UK. I understand those that do not like or want a Tesla, but anyone that wants rid of one because of him are cutting off their nose to spite their face IMO.
  14. @pwee Who at the Dealership said that, the Master Tech / Tech or Service Desk Staff. ? Is you car a 1.5 TSI ACT? EDIT. I see it is a 1.4 TSI.
  15. Not a journalist then, not a reliable source of any news and not someone that checks sources once, twice or thrice. He reads out what others publish. This is the issue with Vloggers that just say stuff regardless and then others share and repeat. I see the media that reported a fire, just not a EV fire. It was which of them i was asking that had reported an EV fire caused the disruption. So which Live broadcast and updates he was telling us about. Is it LBC or AN Other? EDIT. I see / hear. THE MIRROR & THE SUN. So they are the reporters of False News without doing Journalistic Checks. Scottish DAILY RECORD as well. Same publishers as THE MIRROR. Everything needs taken with a degree of mistrust.
  16. @Graham Butcher Which Media group, publisher, journal or channel was it that 'reported' it as an EV fire?
  17. Happy days. Text received today to confirm BT Openreach here to install Full Fibre Broadband on Friday forenoon. Over 18 in house permission to drill hole in wall required etc etc, video to watch. 'Do i want to cancel?' Just now a TXT received. Cancelled Friday appointment now on 23rd April. 'Do i want to cancel?' NO I DO NOT. I Called SKY to say i got £20 credit last month and this month it is £43 to pay. The gent explained that scaffolding is not for the house it is for the Pole. Permissions required from land owner. Well the pole is now on the edge of the field behind with a Millennium Forest line of trees as part of Paths for All. (Paid for from the Commonwealth Games Shooting being held at Barry Buddon back when.) The Fields are owned i think now by American Aggregates and the local quarry will be expanded into the fields. Handy that the Trees are up and save them having to screen the quarry... So i will not cancel the request for the Full Fibre installation because the compensation of £6 a day is still running from the first cancelled installation date of the 14th February. I bet BT Openreach would like people to cancel, it is them paying compensation not SKY according to the Customer Services guy @ SKY.
  18. UK is a Dust Free Country. 120,000 miles or 135,000 miles does make sense, but it does need done by someone with allthe gear and more than ideas. Below 1.5 TSI ACT. TDI,s might well be different. Check engine codes.
  19. If the cam belt had been done before the Service Interval / Recommendation / Advice from VW / Skoda changed in June 2023 to many more miles than 120,000 it would have cost anything from around £900 - £1,200, maybe not done. I would be looking at the air filter every years and changing if required. Pollen filter clean / vacuum area, change as needed, that might be every 2 years, location location location.
  20. People post and others might have know (spelling edit) idea where in the world they are talking about prices unless they say where.
  21. Welcome. So a pretty new car. At least you have made the Local Agent aware, be sure they log that officially. ? Which of Scotland,s useless dealer groups are you dealing with? If there is condensation and it is not blowing out the tail pipe better out than in and sitting corroding the back box. I had a Kia once that had a rotten back box in the first 12 months and it was replaced under warranty and the replacement fitted was the same as the original, the little hole was at the top of the back box.
  22. @Seasider Fair enough, but on here and elsewhere since 2009 people have complained of DQ200,s going up the gears too quickly from starting off. Being into 4th or 5th by 30 mph etc. 1st Gear in a 7 speed DSG is often just used for starting off and coming to a stop but then there are many different maps with DQ200 DSG,s that are fitted from 70 ps to 192 ps in over 50 different applications / models. If your car can be put in a higher gear in Manual and not just ignore you when it needs to protect it's self then good. Crawling along at between 5-10 mph and the DQ200 shifting up or down is why some go to S and hold 1st to a higher RPM. If you can choose 2nd and it stays in 2nd at under 10 mph then sorted. If you know your manual driving of the Semi-automatic gearbox is more fuel efficient that is great.
  23. For anyone reading this thread in the future this thread / post might be of interest. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513601-bosch-oil-filters-for-12-tsi-eaIII-cbzacbzb-engines
  24. A 1.0tsi DSG so still a DQ200 DSG but not a ACT engine (Active Cylinder Technology). Same as Cylinder on Demand. COD / Audi. 'Coasting' is the mode they go into when drive disconected. They as in the Engineers and bean counters think that the driver needs not know what gear they are in. After all those in Electric cars need not know. Accelerator down to go and off and sometimes not even need to brake to stop. Surely a driver can recognise if the DSG is hunting between 1st and 2nd at slow speeds / crawling along and chose S instead. Do you need to look at the gear to confirm what your senses are telling you? Or just just trust that the 1.5 TSI ACT is trying for good fuel efficiency, or even a 1.0 TSI or 2.0 TDI or TSI is. or PHEV / MHEV,s are.
