  1. @Lady Elanorewe know that is how different means of transport work and vehicle choices as well, use the convenient, comfortable or affordable or just what you want when you need to and forget anything else. Life is too short and it is only money and if you have enough then sorted.
  2. @MarkyG82Yes the cars brakes hold the car with 'Autohold' but that starts with you pushing the brake pedal hard enough and the cars brakes holding the car and then it holds it until you want it not to. But if you stop with a gentle braking and do not push the brakes hard enough to have Autohold act then it is not held. (This is with the Auto Hold enabled.) People need to remember that 'P' / Parking Brake / e-Brake is applying the Parking Brake, rear wheels. (Like a manual hand brake did) Autohold is using actuators and applying the brakes front and rear. Then Hill Hold / Hill Hold assist is different in different cars and can be in cars with 'Manual Hand Brakes and cars without 'Autohold' even.
  3. @Lady ElanoreWhen you use public chargers you meet many with loads of money, all the gear and funnily no idea quite often. Amazing how many do so much research and run business's and know taxation and yet will not flash the cash to get a car charged, then there are those that know all the moves and how to do many miles with loads of smiles and huge savings over that when they run an ICE. I meet lots of high mile drivers in EV's that do deliveries with them over long distances daily and provide them for their staff as well. PS MY BAD> I never heard properly the *** "40 pence per hour"'*** So not much per hour. (Then he says later 40 pence per kWh) Charge the car for 10 hours if you are at home and have 5 hours of that at the Off Peak Tariff or just have the standard tariff, and get that home charger is, or your solar and battery storage. He asks, 'Who knows?' Well if Petrol or diesel is £7.25 a gallon and you get 45 MPG them you are £29 and going 180 miles.
  4. What was he paying 40 pence a kWh hour for to charge at anytime at home? He did not need to have a tariff with off peak if that was not giving enough hours cheap charging. Even the new rate coming is just 27 pence a kWh.
  5. @Rotory has the DSG been getting oil changed to the 40,000 mile schedule and when was the last time?
  6. A Karoq will cope very well and no need for the discs or brake fluid to overheat even if there are Moon Wheel Discs fitted, just as long as you do not go dipping the car in the sea or a ford. Or maybe stopping and Autohold or the e-brake is applied.
  7. @vegit8Not quite Cairn O Mount, The Bealach Na Ba or Hardknott pass type descents then.
  8. This week on my 6 x 0.7 mile jaunts with the ambient temp at 10*oC i am getting 2.7 miles to the kWh compared to 1.7 miles when it is 5*oC. That makes a bit of a difference if paying for electricity, or just the time spent charging even if free. Range when starting cold with a pre heated or not pre heated battery and the temperature is like with a diesel in the cold. Once at heat and you keep going further you are not seeing the same fuel use as starting in the cold and only going a short distance the stop, cool, repeat and on and on. 281 or the winter time 224 miles on a single journey is not going to be the same as doing 24 x 10 miles, or 48 times 5 miles. Which many people might be doing in the Super Car EV or just a Fiat 500e.
  9. These pics are in another thread for another model of Skoda. Vega or Vela with the inserts. I know nothing other than there are pictures.
  10. @OldKaroqThe link was just to show that there are Wheel Trims about and we are back to the future. Even pretty expensive EV's with steel wheels and wheel trims& not just on winter wheels. This is the wheels on my Vauxhall with non removable plastic inserts.
  11. You can just tut and maybe shake your head when you see the muppets that choose this type of bay when the car park is pretty empty. The high driving position is not that much of a help if the driver is half blind or just ignorant.
  12. No. Thankfully brakes are designed for use, the rusty ones that many members complain of are because of the lack of use. How long are the downhills you are going down? Many use gears for retardation even with a DSG and then the regeneration on vehicles. Engineers designing in Aero know how to have airflow to the brakes.
  13. See the wheels here on a Kodiaq. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/498738-seeing-is-believing
  14. Important is that 'Autohold' is not automatic in applying the brakes to hold the car. (Hillhold Assist /Hillhold Control is different again.) The brake pedal needs to be pushed hard enough to apply 'Autohold'. You can come to a stop and 'Autohold' is not applied if you are light on the brake pedal. The Parking Brake or Emergency brake as it might be called in the USA can be applied when moving, but do that at your own risk, or have a passenger do it if your pass out at their own risk.
  15. Maybe you should ask what they charge. or just get on Ebay for 'much cheapness'
  16. 'Worst Rate ever' charging is an issue when it is your quite often what you get charging rate.
  17. Welcome. It should be reliable if serviced and maintained properly. Can you get an extended warranty when the Manufacturers expires? The Haldex 4x4 system should have been serviced @ 48,000 km or sooner. The DSG by 65,000 km. These need doing to have the Warranty Valid if you cover this distance before September, or if you have an extended warranty.
  18. It is not high miles to the first service. It came with Long Life oil and set on Variable Servicing and that could be from 18,000-20,000 miles. This gives an idea of what Skoda shows for year 3 on. (Fixed Servicing) Not that Skoda Main Dealer Servicing means it is done, the customer pays for what they want changed. Years 1, 2 or 3 might have little done even if there was a service plan. If there is a FMDSH you want it to show the history of what actually has been done at workshop visits.
  19. The battery needs to be at least 10kW bigger because really with people in and colder weather you will not get 100 miles if the battery was at 100% and you ran it as low as to 5%. so 50 kw but 45 kWh usable x 2.5 miles per kWh if really trying. 40 x 2.5 = 100.
  20. Welcome to the forum. How old is it, is it 3 years old. How old was it at 17,600 miles? That was when the oil and filter was changed on variable service intervals, what else does it show as done? Has the pollen filter been replaced once or twice? If 3 years old was the brake fluid changed? Are the Tyres matching or matching pairs? Is the windscreen chip free? Are the brake discs looking OK? That is the same Servicing as a Motability, Fleet, Lease or any car would get or any left on the Variable / Flexible Servicing the cars come from the factory set for. The option is Fixed Service Intervals of 9,400 miles / 12 months that not everyone wants to have the car serviced at.
  21. Ps ^^^^. Reminded me. @Belinda be aware that there are 1.0 MK3 Fabia that are not turbo charged if trying one. MPI engines not TSI,s. There were 1.4. TDI,s that were discontinued.
  22. Welcome. 2015-2017 did have newer engines, engines from 2016 were Euro 6 emissions. 2015 on will be Mk3 Fabia's and they are a Cam Belt not a timing chain. Then 1.2 TSI 4 cylinders were dropped and you will find even Octavia's might have a 1.0 TSI 3 cylinder engine, also in Fabia, Rapids, Scalla, Kamiq & Karoqs. These engines then got GPF's (Gasoline Particulate Filters) and the will have from 2018. Best you go try a 1.2 TSI or a 1.0 TSI engined car they move along the road perfectly well with whatever power they have, be that 105,110,113,115 PS
  23. There is a CVT that really gets slated and yet I liked it. But then I am a bit deaf. The Suzuki Swace. (Toyota). It can really get good fuel economy.
  24. 'Autohold' enabled or not (turned on or off) is not the e-Brake / Parking brake which just applies the rear brakes.
