What happens if you charge a car with a '7kw on board charger', from a domestic 13 amp supply?
@lol-lol Lets list them. Which are these EV's that have a '300 mile range when it is a super cold winter night with all ancillaries running and that @Lady Elanorecan afford', this was the brief. I think she can afford quite a lot if she gets low cost electric and runs it instead of what she does, but maybe that is not the case. Norwegian conditions might well be not that common in the UK but not that unusual.

Oil Service after 4 months and 7K miles?

Oil Service after 4 months and 7K miles?
@snowie55 Ex Arnold Clark Inverness employees have been members on here, there were ones i had worked with elsewhere. maybe @kodiaqsportlinewould like to read their posts and threads. But then maybe if he thinks they do not have a Skoda or VW Group car he will not be interested in anything they say or post. They were no loss really to Inverness or area. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/34825-arnold-clark-inverness/page/3 Worth the travelling to Victoria Garage, Maud for those east of Inverness or even further away for people with all the gear and more than ideas.

Oil Service after 4 months and 7K miles?
@kodiaqsportline I have told you what i have done and i have worked in VW Group Dealerships and in Scotland's biggest Dealership groups. You never give much of a clue what you have done or do. It is not unrealistic. it is you that seems to not know what has gone before. FMDSH's and the Dealerships including ones you have said you bought cars at or have had them serviced at would not Reset Service Indicators without a Service being done. Hence if they get the Services out of sequence the customer does not need to be the one paying to have a Oil Change done because an Oil Service shows as being due. People / Customers need not be inconvenienced or give up their time to go to dealerships because a Manager or Master Tech can not train staff to do the job correctly that a customer already paid for. It is for them to take the hit, they are not made of sugar. They need to face up to errors.

Had the 2016 VRS 1 year, time for Oil change: what else?
What has the 5 year old car had done already? If a VAQ diff then that was a 3 year / 30,000 mile oil change item. Brake Fluid @ 3 years and each 2 or at least have checked for H20. Pollen filter could have been twice already or not. Spark Plugs might as well be inspected so if doing that changed. Air Filter could do with an inspection. It is all about location, location, location and what has been done etc. Here is some idea on stuff but the VAQ is not mentioned but there are threads in this section. An Independent VW Specialist should know what needs doing and when and how to do them. A Skoda / VW Group main dealership service desk employee might really not know that much and not bother to ask those in the workshop that do.

The battery as the new frontier
Norway are sitting on lots and eventually will start mining, and Scotland has as well and that seems to be someones little secret for when Scotland can profit and not have to just allow the UK Government to squander the nations resources.

Pinging
@Wallyp Is it making a pinging noise from the engine or from the dash, or do you mean it is 'pinking' like a petrol engine might?

Oil Service after 4 months and 7K miles?
It appears that the car might well be on Variable / Flexible Service / Oil change intervals, from the service before last. It appears that at the last service / oil change the service indicator might not have been reset. Ask them nicely since they messed up or their employee did, do they want to do an interim Oil service or Oil & Inspection Service for free rather than them resetting the Service Indicator and doing nothing.

What's gone wrong?
@Kobycat The AA responder can check fault codes, check the battery and get the car going. They have all the gear just as the Halfords employee, but have more than ideas and actual training and qualifications.

The battery as the new frontier
The war in the Ukraine will be a bit of a hindrance to the EU, UK, Europe and global to electrification of transport and battery production. That is unless Ukraine stays under Ukrainian control. https://electrive.com/2021/11/08/european-lithium-secures-ukranian-lithium-deposits/ PS Now the price on nickle is a major issue. It never rains but it pours, but that is why Russia is a true Super Power.
-
Delivery lead-time
Parts including semi-conductors might be easier to sort out in the short or long term, but lets see how it goes for the materials required for battery packs for electrification. Mild, plug in and BEV battery packs for the global requirement now and over the next decade and beyond. Russia are in the Ukraine for minerals such as 'lithium oxide' more than the Oil & Gas. https://electrive.com/2021/11/08/european-lithium-secures-ukranian-lithium-deposits/ PS & now the price of nickle is a major issue.

Accurate Tyre Pressure.
They all work when working and if they have batteries as long as they have energy you are ready to go. The thing is to know if they are accurate you need to check against against another you know is accurate. Sometimes a car that has the ability to tell you the cars tyre pressures is the way to check if the tyre pressure gauge you use says the same as the car.

Fabia Monte Carlo
@MinigillIf you have have only driven bigger engine cars with wet clutch DSG you really should try a test drive in a TSI with 150 ps & 250 Nm or under with a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG and especially a 1.5 TSI, even if one from any of the sister brands. With the rubbish summer tyres that get fitted as OEM it will spin the wheels if given some at junctions.

Old Yeti, new owner.
^^^ The cost of delivery to the UK if it is as shown is why many do not get direct from Heko. 3 or 4 times the cost of the parts is an issue.
-
Accurate Tyre Pressure.
Filling station air inflators / compressors you pay 20 or 50 pence to use are calibrated and maintained by professionals. These are accurate.

Red diesel to get the chop!
The changes come from April for the 'diesel used in non-road mobile machinery such as bulldozers and cranes or to power mobile generators on construction sites.' https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/lifestyle/motoring/drivers-hit-major-diesel-law-26357833

New Landrover Defender are you up for one?
& i thought Shmee was as annoying as you could get.

Screen De-Mist
@AnnoyingPentiumAs you move through Mk2 & Mk3's you will find out that since Mk1's you still have door seals that trap H20 in the seals and doors unless they are opened allowing them to drain. Lets hope that after 3 generations and loads of face lifts Skoda have the All New 4th Generation that are going to retain less water within the passengers cabin. 'Simply clever' is not repeating the same issue in vehicles for decades.

Screen De-Mist
@Eccles how far north of Devon do you ever park up in winter which might be from August to April and where temps at around freezing might be for days or week on end? There are people doing all sorts of driving and length of trips and maybe even driving when AC is disabled due to the low temps and where mats and other stuff would need removed when parking up and replaced when going back to the vehicle. Luckily there are manufacturers that design and manufacturers that do not get moisture in them and steamy windows and interiors and jack frost inside them. Not always something you can expect from the Central / Eastern European brands that VW Group produce.

Horses for courses and there are all sorts of people needing different vehicles for different uses at different times. So choices are a good thing.

What's gone wrong?
So there is a flat or dying battery or a poor connection / loose terminal.

Photographs of Past Cars...
I think this was around 1993 for my 2.8 V6 Auto Ghia which was followed by a metallic green estate then an ex Police 2.9 auto Granada Scorpio which was for towing trailers rather than carrying stuff like white water kayaks & bikes on the roof or inside. & Jimny Pickup 2009 @ Tong.
-
MPV's available with easy in and easy out and space to carry stuff maybe doubling as a van. & Electric Vans.
Plenty seats but no space for stuff if occupied. Range with all seats occupied will be interesting to know when it is cold / snowy and the heating working and the windows not steaming, that will not be if in ECO. Best without the Michelin Primacy 4 tyres fitted.

Fabia Monte Carlo
14 weeks might well need revised as Skoda productions are affected by a war in the Ukraine. If you want a mid sized family car hot hatch best buy a mid sized family car hot hatch and not a Fabia Monte Carlo. IMO. 150 ps & a 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG will get a Fabia up the road quick enough for many considering UK NSL's. It will be more show than go and be a Warm Hatch more than a Hot Hatch though. You will get anyplace in about the same time as you might have done in a bigger 245-280/300 ps car. Forget all the Monte Carlo Rally guff as this mk4 Fabia has nothing to do with Motorsport Heritage or Success's. It is using a term for a trim and nothing else, the only thing to do with S2000 or R5 Fabia is an attempt of the Skoda & the Media / Sales team to have people think about 'Motorsport'. If they do a stripped out version with better suspension and brakes then they can maybe offer it as a R5 limited tribute. Even stick badges on the wings that are to do with the years they are successful in WRC2 where they are AWD cars. 2017. Really a joke using the Monte Carlo name.

1.5 tsi Monte Carlo
@Steve8O Does 'Sport mode' really drop the suspension electronically by 15mm over the 15mm lower than the car comes at already? Which dampers has the car fitted that has this feature?
