Variable Service Information
? Can you find a good VW Independent that knows what needs doing when & will do the work and not just do a tick list and look see and charge lots of money for not much done? Brakes being serviced is a good idea. Actually wheels taken off the car post winter. Tyres / wheels rotated or changed front to rear might be a good idea. The brake fluid is first at 3 years then each 2 years, but you can have the brake fluid tested for H20 content. You can look at the Air Filter and see if it needs replacing or change as suggested / recommended. Same with the Pollen Filter which is at 2 years but then that might depend on location location location. (Centre of city bus routes, or seaside, or middle of a farm etc etc) Fuel filter maybe by Manufacturers Recommendations like other things or more often. The DSG is at 40,000 miles not @ 4 years. The Haldex is @ 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner. This gives an idea of what Skoda UK has as a guide, even though a Skoda Service Plan might well mean that FMDSH / Main Dealer Servicing has not things done as shown. That requires the owner knowing what is due when and paying for it.

What kWh does an Enyaq charging on AC 43 kW chargers get, & why use one when there are plenty 22 kW chargers available?
Maybe this is a member here's car. It showed as getting 11 kW on the charger. This is not the first Enyaq i have seen using Rapid chargers to park on for a couple of hours or more when they could easily be on 22kW chargers. (Assuming they can be bothered to have their type 2 cable with them and use it.) The Audi e-Tron is also on the AC and had been for a few hours. Luckily the Enyaq was not slowing the charging speed for me on the 50kW CCS but sometimes the charge speed can be slowed as at a charger i used a few days ago where a Jag had been 9 1/2 hours on the AC 43 kW and it was the only CCS charger available to me. There are drivers with older Renault Zoe's that can charge using these 43 kW AC charge heads but when they are occupied like this for hours would need to go on the 22 kW or 7 kW ones. (Last time i was there only 1 of the Rapids out of the 4 was working and the White Ford Mach-e had been on the 43 kW AC for many hours.)

EV real world range and cost to charge
While i plugged in i was getting 48 kWh of a charge i was down to 15 miles range left at that time. I checked what the Blue TESLA parked at the wrong side of the charger was getting and it was 23kW and they had 33kWh received and were at about only 60%. When they left a New Nissan Van arrived and they could not get a charge on the Chademo at that charger as it cut out as soon as the charger tried to connect. I was talking to the driver for 30 minutes while i got a charge and he tried the charger a few times but no go. CPS was not answering the phone. So 1 Tesla was there at the old Rapid and on AC as well as the Skoda & Enyaq & only i was on DC/ CCS until another car plugged in on CCS next to the Audi while the Nissan van driver was trying to get a charge. I got 32.687kWh in 55 minutes. This was fine, as It was just above freezing. Best i had in the last 6 charges preciously were in the range of 32-35 kWh in 80 minutes in warmer conditions and each time arriving with a hot battery. *All free charging @ CPS chargers in council areas not yet charging to charge.*

Cancelling 'Service Now!' Alert
On some vehicles not all , different ages of vehicles and different models make a difference. Plugging in and changing different again from what can be done on the stalks, buttons on dash, or the hazard lights on way.
-
Cancelling 'Service Now!' Alert
If the car is set for Fixed Service Intervals and you reset the Service indicator it was to 372 days / 9,400 miles. Now with newer cars that might be 365 days not the year and a week on fixed servicing. Resetting those on Variable / flexible servicing is different.

EV real world range and cost to charge
The ignorance of EV drivers is annoying. Castleview Park & ride charging hub Stirling has 4x 50 kW DC / 43 kW AC chargers of which 3 were working today. Infront of these is a row of 22 kW chargers sitting empty and beyond dozens of 7 kW AC chargers. The Skoda Enyaq & Audi e-Tron drivers for some reason charge their cars on the 43 kW AC plugs and leave their cars for hours getting only 11 kWh. Muppets.

Hi guys any1 using 5w40 oil in their TDI if so did it help with oil consumption?
Your engine needs more than different oil. But you do not say what age or miles it is. But you have a DPF so use the right oil. Even 0.5 litres in 1,000 km./ 621 miles Is excessive. It is not within tolerances. 1 litre each 700 miles is ridiculous.

DSG stop/start...
It can cut the engine before the cars stops when off the accelerator. It is not a fault and not all TSI or TDI with DSG,s behave exactly the same.
-
auto hold add on
Not if the car has a hand / parking brake and not an e-brake, which I take it is the case with your Scala

Hi guys any1 using 5w40 oil in their TDI if so did it help with oil consumption?
Are you sure the oil is to VW 507 00. Do not use 5w 40 FS III which is to VW 502 00. How much oil use has your engine?

spare wheel psi?
@froggy8 what size is the spare, something like 185/60 r 15? Store in the car over inflated and when fitted drop to maybe 40 ps. Still reduce your speed when fitted even if no sticker on the wheel telling you to.

Winter roads, ice, snow and wet or dry driving in an EV..
@lol-lolBetter efficiency on 60 mph coastal roads in windy conditions but the temp getting towards the teens. Still with a hot battery it takes 80 minutes to get in near 32 kWh to take the battery to 99%.

Service items and charges
Have the dealership send you the estimate they have of what they think they are doing over and above what your service scheme includes. And the individual prices.

Service items and charges
The DSG is not due until 40,000 miles so that is £215 not required paying. The Haldex at 3 years / 30,000 miles is around £115 if they do correctly with the filter. The brake fluid £65. So what has already been done? Last time. Service previously. ...... You need oil and filter change, maybe air and fuel filter. Maybe pollen filter. Maybe various stuff depending on the service history and work done. Are they saying the water pump needs replacing? Or is it just a timing belt the person said?

What happens if you charge a car with a '7kw on board charger', from a domestic 13 amp supply?
Still free from Perth and south at several council areas that were supposed to have started imposing tariffs. Many including me would prefer to pay and have better maintenance and chargers working and with overstay charges. Free is lovely if you are able to just pop past and charge but the ignorance of some really does give a sour taste.

Not all chargers stay locked once they stop charging because full or cut out, but that is no use if you can not get your car to the cable. Charging heads falling out of chargers and being on the ground is the common reason for many being broken and then out of order for many months with CPS/ SWARCO being the back room people who as they say they do not maintain them. That will be SWARCO as SWARCO that has the Maintenance Contract but obviously CPS run by SWARCO are the same people but with different contracts. Some drivers leave the charge cable able to be taken out of their car. With the Kia Niro there is a switch at the drivers door that allows the cable to not be locked. I have a txt number on a timer card in the windscreen that someone sends a message to and i will return and let them charge. I never leave a car in attended on a Rapid / Quick charger more than an hour. Ps. So 1 hour and at 95% now and that will do for today.

I am away from the car but only 1/2 a mile and was checking the charge via my phone. It took 30 minutes until it got to 43%. I was going to head back but the speed charging just doubled as the Jag must of come off. I will give it another 20 minutes and free up the charger.

What happens if you charge a car with a '7kw on board charger', from a domestic 13 amp supply?
Reached my next charger with 19%. One rapid and there is as Jag on the AC and it has been on 14 hours and got 33kWh. Of charge. My car is not getting a good speed because of this but I have a day to charge so will just leave it an hour now and charge again later.

I am charging in Dunblane and got in near 24 kWh in 55 mins on a 50 kWh charger. Pathetic. There are only 2 of them. On the other one there is a 21 plate Audi A3 hybrid. So far it has been there 9 hours 23 minutes on the AC 43 kW and has got 11.2 kWh of charge. There are 5 7kw chargers it could be on.

Check engine light help please!
If no record of spark plugs being replaced they are needing looked at anyway and if out they are as well to be replaced, or kept for an emergency and eventually thrown out years later when you no longer have that car. (i have the t-shirts & the plugs...)

Check engine light help please!
You do not suck the hose. String fed through the hose, little bit of rag tied to the end of string. Pipe down the pipe or in the drum etc, pull the string through and draw up the liquid. Doubt the E10 is the issue but if the car was sitting ticking over long enough maybe why the EML comes on.

Check engine light help please!
How many miles has it done and when if ever were the spark plugs changed? Filling the tank with E5 super unleaded now and the next time is worth the extra £2 or less over the E10. It is not going to do any harm. (Petrol prices going to be rising anyway over the weekend.)

1.5 DSG MPG horrific
On £60 a week on fuel saving £2 is £104 a year. Coasting can actually save fuel in a 1.4 or 1.5 TSI even in urban driving. Every mickle maks a muckle. On £60 of petrol that might be the cheapest available locally or maybe not. As it is it is only money and that price paid for fuel needed weekly is going up next week and in the future weeks. Just as well to the weather in and around Luton will be getting warmer.
