When would you manually activate the parking brake?
Hill hold assist / hill hold control is a different thing from Autohold and then the e-brake / parking brake. @Routemaster1461 it helps if you say if your car has a DSG or manual box. Any confusion comes from lost on Translation which is a VW group think. German to Czech to Spanish to English or US English. Then them using different names over the past 12 years for things like hill hold assist / hill hold control. Then people not reading the manual for their particular vehicle. Still lost in translation sadly.

Octavia Lift Kit
A DQ200 DSG is not significantly heavier than manual box. Check the weights. VW said they were then built 2015 Polo GTI 1.8 TSI 192 ps manuals and 7 Speed DQ200 DSG,s. Check the kerb weights. Check the performance of the manual with 320 Nm and the DSG with 250 Nm. Check the clearance VW give in the official figures. Check the springs and dampers fitted. But then always take VW figures and weights with a pinch of salt.

When would you manually activate the parking brake?
Autohold is not applied whenever the car stops. You need to push the brake pedal hard enough to have it function. You can stop with light braking and it is not holding the car . ie car stopped, foot comes off the brake pedal and brakes are not applied. You can go to N and Autohold is not holding the brakes. The e-Brake / parking brake is applied when you exit the car etc.

Oil Pump failure advice for MK3
The Haldex Service is not every 3 years. It is @ 3 years or 30,000 mile which ever comes first. When it used to be @ 40,000 years the VW Changed to @30,000 miles and that became at 3 years and Skoda said @ 3 Years and ten @ 3 years / 30,000 miles. So here we are now and Skoda UK showas @ 30,000 miles / 3 years. That does not mean a UK Skoda Main Dealership will do it correctly or even tell owners that it is due, or do it under a Service Plan. An Approved Used Skoda with FMDSH at 3 years or older and a Skoda Warranty might not even have had it carried out. Same as the Brake Fluid might not be changed.

Delivery times?
@Joss1733 Are people that ordered after you getting vRS TDI 4x4 Estates in the UK before you? The model might well make a difference especially a high emissions one. Maybe now Skoda UK can have them coming in now that we are in 2022.

Octavia Lift Kit
You really know the difference in height when measuring the change in the difference the roof is from the ground compared to before the modifications. Lots of the figures, calculations and all the rest are just that. You go to the expense and the actual clearance of the parts scraping on the ground is the difference from Ooo and Ahh. A ba's hair really. Much cheapness. 'Spring Spacers'. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/500267-yeti-big-tyres-and-20mm-lift/page/2

Ordered 2.0 Tsi manual Octavia VRS , 300hp tuneable?
That is good theory. Makes little sense really if you have the need for speed but only once you have no warranty to fall back on.

Gearbox Overheating SE TSI E-TEC 1.0L
You need the DSG checked out then because that was what came up with the Overheating warning. I would nor be waiting until the next service. You know you had the clutch smell, your box is a 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG. The box has too oils in the box and the MCU neut maybe neither have leaked. @ what miles was the first service done and why is it due again in 1,400 miles if on Variable / Flexible servicing at 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months?

What to look for Superb Estate
Is it a 1.4 or 1.8TSI ? If a 1.8 TSI you might want to look at the issues that these engines could have. Maybe this was addressed years ago on any car you look at but best research this. There will be those that can help on here and know about them.

What to look for Superb Estate
Welcome to the forum. Which petrol engine are you considering and is it with a manual or DSG?

Ordered 2.0 Tsi manual Octavia VRS , 300hp tuneable?
@DNCwhy wait until out the the manufacturers warranty? If you trust the remap you might as well do it now and if it goes wrong then you just foot the bill the same as you will need to do when the warranty expires

Spacesaver for Yeti 4x4 17inch wheel
The rim size is small but the tyre circumference is correct. But it will be an emergency use spare which means limiting your speed. There is a thread from last week on a full size spare and how the floor will be lifted with the wider rim / tyre if you carry one. It will be down the page or on the page before.

Winter roads, ice, snow and wet or dry driving in an EV..
Charging up before cold and snowy weather arrives tomorrow. I will be charging fully at home before setting off anyplace when there is the chance of blocked roads or diversions. The charger network in Scotland is really hit or miss currently. Lots of chargers being flagged as not giving good charging speeds and that is 50 kW ones. Not just free 50 kW chargers. I am heading South on Wednesday and might miss any snowy roads but have to eek out the battery as best I can. I would rather sit on a charger working if available to be near full rather than the lottery of the next hub / charger being OOO ( out of order) or blocked by the greedy that abandon cars for many hours. The real PITA is the Screen wash that fails to spray for a long time even after the temp rises above freezing. Also how much snow gets swept below the wipers and even when cleared before setting off still builds.up. that means fresh air / demisting is hopeless or non existent. The joys of no heat under the bonnet .

Clunk/clicking noise with fluctuation in RPM
@Esto are you in Australia? I have watched vids of VW cars in the USA and the Karoq in Australia with the 1.4 TSI and 8 speed auto and have not seen mention of ACT.

Best Engine Oil ?
What ever and where ever you get VW 507 00 so 5w 30 Full Synthetic III for a 2018 or earlier TDI. You could use 0w 30 FS III if VW 507 00. It is Long Life oil regardless of fixed or variable service intervals. Nothing special or expensive is required. Quantum / Fuchs, Comma, Tesco or Asda or anyplace really. Castrol / Mobil / Shell etc not necessary as nothing in them that other oil producers have not added. Those that have VW 509 00 so 0w 20 FS IV and want to use that will pay a bit more for that.

Really - Self Driving Cars!
According to the BBC Radio 4 today the first self driving (driverless) cars are being trialled from today in Milton Keynes. Must be the first trialled in 2022. (is this without 'remote drivers' being involved?,) Must be the first moving footballers from their stadium to the training ground and with a controller being in charge of the car remotely. Surely not the first selfdriving or is that driverless cars on UK roads as the BBC news readers are saying. https://fleetnews.co.uk/news/latest-fleet-news/connected-fleet/2021/12/02/fetch-driverless-car-hailing-trial-starts-in-milton-keynes This article is from over a month ago. 'There is a remote driver'. ie a driver not in the car or is that a person that can take over control remotely if required? Tested among the public in MK in 2016. So not the Queens Highway but a place open to the public. Pavements around the train station. http://bbc.co.uk/news/technology-37618574 2013 http://bbc.co.uk/news/technology-25230483 The UK is always a world leader. It leads from behind and takes a long time thinking about things while paying various people millions to hurry up and get no place fast. 2021.

Clunk/clicking noise with fluctuation in RPM
@Esto So not a DSG. Where are you, Australia? ? Are these just 1.4 TSI's without ACT? (Active Cylinder Technology). So no Cylinder deactivation. If the Dealership employee says all is as should be do they have another identical model to let you drive so that you can compare?

Clunk/clicking noise with fluctuation in RPM
@Esto Welcome. Maybe say what engine your car has.

4 bike carrier and kids bike seat advice
Indeed you can, boot mounted or hatch mounted. Then you decide low down and hanging bikes and a Trailer light / number plate Board is required, or higher and no light board. Thule do a good platform one.

REVERSING ILLUMINATION
As @skomaz posted, You can always do as we did in the 70's and 80's and even now fit a rear spot light / work light. These days they can be very small LED.s that are discrete. People that tow commonly have them to help when hitching up. On a separate switch and not wired to the reversing lights is a good idea.

Felicia fuel tank capacity and TC-6 measurements
^^^ Nothing to do with short measures. If you think you are under served fuel you buy then take a vessel and put the 1 litre or 5 litres in fuel and be sure you get what you pay for. Even go by weight. A fuel tank capacity is just that, not including fuel up the pipe. Vented space etc. Get an empty tank and fill it with liquid and see the actual capacity of that tank. Not with the filler pipe attached.

REVERSING ILLUMINATION
@CosmoJI drive ones with all sorts of reversing lights, good and bad for lighting the rear. Also some now with good reversing cameras. ? Would a motion activated light at the car port not be a good idea? They are under £20.

DANGEROUS Skoda Octavia emergency brake/crash assist, lucky to be alive....may not be so lucky next time!!!!!
Those accidents and life changing Injuries and deaths are not happening. If those with these inherently dangerous standard cars keep reporting them to the DVSA / DfT and MP,s and the Secretary of state for Transport you can be sure that nothing will change other than the new Safety Features that become compulsory by the EU in 2022 will also be in the UK. PS. Drivers are responsible for their vehicles roadworthiness. If a vehicle is unsafe drop it off at a VW group approved repairer or have Skoda Assist collect the vehicle and so not drive it untill it is safe to drive.
