What makes EV tires different
PSA so now Stellantis and Kia /Hyundai put lots of EV;s out on Michelin Primacy 4, far too many really.

Fabia mk4 pricelist
But generally the cost of living in Germany is 24% less than in the UK. Britain fought a war to stay British and not be ruled by Germany, and then more recently had a referendum so that is the price you pay, more!

What makes EV tires different
@lol-lol I was going to post this earlier but Briskoda was down. Michelin do make crap tyres sometimes. I think there are some rubbish Primacy 4's about, more to do with range rather than grip / traction / safety. 2019. 2012.

Impending vRS 230 purchase (pre-FL)!
? What was done in 2020 and pre 2020 at services? Oil & Filter changes are easy, but there is more to servicing than that, so Pollen Filter cleaned / vacuumed or replaced as needed, air filter likewise. Brakes to service, brake fluid to test for H20 and replace if needed, the front diff has a service interval / oil change recommendation as Skoda do not say schedule. So pre & post winter prep or annual / regular stuff to do with a keeper. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/471790-vaq-haldex-on-2016-pfl-230vrs-does-it-have-one-and-service-interval

New used Yeti owner, haldex spin on launch?
@putt Welcome. Even when the Haldex is correctly working it still matters what tyres are fitted and how you use the accelerator pedal for what ever surface you are on. Dry Grip or even damp and the system will maybe have you with traction and a forward action. Gravel, Ice, Wet etc still can have tyres lose traction as the car has no locking diffs or central diff and all wheels can not be having brakes applied to stop a wheel or 2 spinning under acceleration from standing starts or hard acceleration when moving.

Engine oil - Octavia iV PHEV
In Simply Clever language. VW Group had to meet the WLTP / RDE and now RDE2 results showing low emissions and no low Average Emissions. So as well as engine changes / software etc and electrification the engines got 0w 20 FS IV from the factory. Seeing as the 1.4 TSI managed the lower emissions by becoming a Plug In Hybrid the oil filled at the factory might not be such an important thing when it comes to running Oil as long as it meets the Spec for a 1.4 TSI. Some might go with VW 508 00 / 509 00 as recommended, some might go VW 504 00 / 507 00 as perfectly fine. I would say if i had one as a keeper, stuff that for a game of soldiers and i will just use VW502 00 so 5w 40 FS as i am doing Fixed Oil & Filter changes anyway, the fuel consumption will be fine in the UK. Limited engine running many days with electric use only, and 'What is the worst that can happen'. The 1.4 TSI 150 ps without ACT is a tried and tested design. This below is not recent, but will do as far as i am concerned. Skoda UK / Dealership Employees & others might well disagree. That is for Petrol Engines on Variable / Flexible service intervals, not for Petrol / TSI's on Fixed / Annual Oil & Filter Changes. 972195316_Screenshot2019-07-21at16_37_00.webp

What makes EV tires different
@lol-lol The issue with 'Centres for PDI / Optional extras and then distribution' is. The Transit Blocks should not be removed, or the tyre deflated from the factory pressure before the car left the factory if it is then going on a Transporter to the Dealership or Click & Collect collection anyplace around the UK. If the car is being driven by a delivery driver then the Blocks should be removed and the tyres set at a safe pressure. But then the car will no longer be set in 'In transit mode and the mileage should be at zero again' from it being First Registered or being moved on Trade Plates. PS For a while i worked in a major manufacturers premises in Scotland where vehicles came all the way north and were prepped including Body Styling options fitted and even Leather Interiors fitted so cars were to the UK spec. They had fluids in, a limited amount of fuel and were well protected and wrapped and then were prepped to go to Dealerships. The Transit Blocks were left fitted, or fitted if the Springs were changed, and the tyres were left over inflated so there was still PDI actions required when the cars got to Dealerships. ......................... There should be more Articles & Vids like this coming. Hopefully covering Summer / All Season tyres & All Weather or Winter EV tyres.

Engine oil - Octavia iV PHEV
@Sir_Ron_Norris How many miles has the car done now and has the oil level dropped any since the hand over? Had you dipped it cold and then at operating temp when you got the car? How are you using it in on Electric only for short trips and how often is the Engine fired up and running and the oil / engine getting up to the normal operating temp?

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
They are just used cars that will have done 3,000 miles or had 3 months use or more. They can be Demonstrator / Ex Management / Media or courtesy cars so used hard or looked after and presentation is only as good as the people prepping these used cars. One might expect as new. But then if you want that just do not accept something like prepped by Kerbside Motors.

Mk3 VRS TDI DSG Estate - 3rd set of brake discs warped
Different people drive differently and might well get brakes much hotter. Then there is being stopped and foot on brake pedal or even if they are not one that sits with the brake lights on to the rear for extended time and applying just the parking brake you have AUTOHOLD so the car has applied the front and rear brakes automatically while stationary.

Engine oil - Octavia iV PHEV
The correct spec as from the factory and recommended by VW / Skoda is VW 508 00 / 509 00, so that is 0w 20 FS IV. But then the 1.4 TSI in the PHEV is supposed to have fixed oil ,filter service intervals so at 9,400 miles / 372 days. Some dealerships might think the old spec VW 504 / 507 so 5w 30 FS III is ok to use. That is not the recommended oil even though that and the 0w 20 are long life oils. Some will be using 0w 30 FS III as they are on other TSI.s.

Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI 110BHP
Skoda thought it Simply Clever to devalue Monte Carlo and any sporting heritage or success by using it on Fabia or Yeti then on other models with only a Sporting look and no performance or handling advantages. With the Fabia they talked about Rally Inspired and other Media guff while giving a tyre shreading 110ps and 'sport suspension'. Some even with less than 110 ps. There was a fwd 125ps /DSG produced in limited numbers and got R5 limited given in the name to these Tribute versions. All the Rallying success and at least now there will be the new Fabia out with 150ps from the factory.

What makes EV tires different
Question for manufacturers and importers of EV,s to the UK. Why are they not all being delivered with EV specific tyres? Why are some just coming with Suitable ECO tyres that can eek out range but are not performing well as All Season / All weather / all year round if you use all around the UK? Many will have tyres that might not require changing within the lease period so before handed back at 2 or 3 years. Lease / fleet / Motability etc will know how many miles as an average EV,s they own are getting out of a pair of set if tyres. So will the Tyre industry / tyre centre companies and so should the AA / RAC and SMMT.

What makes EV tires different
? Are most EV's RWD or AWD with rear bias? In the UK the numbers of RWD EV's will be mostly made up of Tesla or RWD BMW i3's & latterly JLR that might have racked up high miles. The Majority of EV's in the UK or even Globally & on the roads racking up miles / km are surely Front Wheel Drive, so Leaf, Zoe, Niro / Soul, Ioniqs / Kona etc. The AWD & RWD ones are not yet in the majority are them. JLR, Audi, Tesla, BMW & now the latest from rest of VW Group / Hyundai / Kia etc.

VW ID.4 SUV EV
More Reviews / Tests showing EV's towing are needed. Good to see one here. Towing and having the cars seats and the boot occupied would be more real world, obviously there are singles that do go camping!

Hyundai Ioniq 5
Fantastic. Manufacturers need to hire her and more like her. They need told what is what and what matters, like rear wipers. When the Chancellor has the next budget she should be on the telly to discuss how take changes will affect the Self Employed or Business Drivers.

What makes EV tires different
I have yet to hear an Audi EV driver say when i ask that they are unhappy with their Audi. The only comment i hear is how poor the charging network is in Scotland and how few real Rapid Chargers there are. That could be changing though. Then this winter there might be more of them fitting All Weather tyres.

What makes EV tires different
E-Tron charging times are nothing special when you have just a 50kWh charger available. It is actually much a muchness as the charging speed of any other EV on a CCS 50 kWh charger. http://zap-map.com/charge-points/audi-e-tron-charging-guide

Delivery lead-time
@JAHSWas that a big ship which carried a large amount of vehicles including lots of Enyaq's or was it all Enyaq or a high percentage? ? How do you know how many, were you told or were you there?

Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI 110BHP
@nta16The OP posted that the trim level is it being a 'Monte Carlo' so the beach chair like interior. @Rf91 Welcome. You want to know what servicing was done and by who if there is a FSH or FMDSH, not just that there was servicing done. Is it up to the Manufacturers Recommendations at the present time or do you need now to do things like change the 4 Spark Plugs, Air Filter, Pollen filter. ?Are all 4 tyres matching or at least has it matching pairs. If you need others to do any servicing it might be an idea to use a good VW Specialist Independent rather than a Skoda Main Dealer.

testdriving a Superb 3 - any particular points to look for?
@brettikivi It will be a very different DSG though. So it should have had an oil change @ 62,000 km, then due again within the next 42,000 and the Haldex should have been serviced at least once or even twice by now.

Advice please, buying 2015 MK3 Skoda Octavia L&K 1.8TSI
Welcome. EDIT. Doh, sorry my stupidity. is it a 4x4 so with Haldex which should have been serviced even if only 25,000 miles and will have a DSG that needs Oil Changes @ 40,000 miles. or, Is it not a DQ200 DSG so a 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG, so no Oil Changes as recommended or shown as scheduled at 40,000 miles or anytime. A 2015 DQ200 DSG might be part of the Service Campaign (not Recall or Recall Action) which covers ones from 2013-2015. '34H5'. That was / is a Software Undate. A preventative measure because of possible Pressure / Heat issues and the premature demise of the MCU / leaks / cracks. (In the UK that started in 2017 so if the car / dsg is part of that it should have been done between then and now.) ? What is the service history, as in has it been on Fixed Annual Servicing or Variable and had 2 Services maybe even though only 25,000 miles done? Has it had the pollen filter changed recently, was the brake fluid changed at 3 years or 4 or even 5 years? What actually has it had done even with such a low mileage? ? Are the 4 tyres matching or at least matching pairs? What are the brake discs looking like, slight corrosion or more than slight? Prices are up from this on the Skoda Dealers Fixed Price Servicing and maintenance on 3-10 year old cars on Fixed Servicing at Participating Dealers. EDIT 2. I see @varaderoguy's link has the latest prices.

Oh No another mk2 VRS (2011) Over heating issues
@Mrr4nd411 Not even £40 for for litres of oil & a filter. Asda / Tesco / Comma / Quntum / Fuchs or anyones 5w 40 FS to VW 502 00 That is for Fixed Oil & Filter Changes. Dipped cold the oil on the flat bit above the cross hatch is correct. @ or above the Orange Plastic is wrong and will be more than 3.9-4 litres in. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/486406-oil-recommendation-for-14-tsi-rs-cave 59fc1f3e14a29_SkodaFabiaengineoilcapacities (1).webp

Oh No another mk2 VRS (2011) Over heating issues
Normal is around and indicated 92°C once up to temp if just at around the NSL,s in the UK on a not Scorchio day. Up into the early 100 plus if pushing it, people with you so car loaded and warmer weather. But as you ease off the indicated oil temp should be dropping down to near 90 degrees again. That is where the coolant should be and that is how things work, coolant cools oil which is also a coolant. Oil 5w 30 FS III. Or 5w 40 FS up at correct Quantity so 3.6 litre min,.a Low oil level will have the oil getting hotter quicker and cooling slower. Personally it would always be 5w 40 for me in a twincharger and not Long Life oil. PS. They are not very hot engines if running the right quantity of oil. The 3.6 litres as per spec is not much. I used to be running 4 litres, and there were techs that put that much in from oil and filter changes. Showing in area A on the dipstick when checked on the flat at normal operating temp. So at 90°C indicated and not as owners manual says for Skoda which is 'warm' while VW, Seat and Audi said 'hot' *know where it is when cold before you start the engine.*
