'EV Drivers Panic Buying Electric @ UK Charging Hubs.' EV Home charging price rise because of Gas Price rises for those that have lost the good deal because of Utility Companies failing
Sorry, click bait. Not really any panic buying of Electricity, well not yet a Daily Express or Daily Mail headline. There must be those that had great Low Cost Off peak Charging at home deals that could lose them or already have because of companies going bust. Finding the great deals that were available might not be so easy now or in the near future. The cost to charge at Public & Charges provided by Commercial Firms might well have to increase while the Government wanted those to be cheaper. A wish and a dream maybe from the UK regulator. https://www.ft.com/content/bc83d298-8a8e-489f-9e45-74c6103b5c7f

Code out brake lights on autohold?
IME the e-Brake applied and the DSG in D or S does not have the DSG / clutches disengage in the same way as the Autohold does or the foot brake applied. But then not something i ever do really holding a DSG in D or S with the e-Brake, just with Autohold. With DQ200 DSG's when Sprinting and with a 'Hand Brake / Parking Brake', i hold them on the Parking Brake when Hill Climb / Sprinting / Dragging. but then i have only one foot, but even if i had 2 the delay the foot brake to 'Off the line' is quite a difference. Delay with Clutches. Not the same with Holding on the Hand Brake. (This is cars without Launch Control.)

I hope you are all being sensible about THE PETROL SHORTAGE!!
Grant Shaaps who drives a TESLA & Boris that gets driven or drives friends old cars are not being sensible. It is Friday and end of the month pay time for many going places this weekend. So New HGV drivers will not be New Road Fuel Tankers any time soon. So this rubbish about more simple tests getting done sooner is a nonsense while people can not even get licenses renewed who are qualified already. Or there are not enough trainers or drivers to buddy up with to get experience. Sure the Military can aid training and experience and even driving, but they are getting leave to be ready for Cop 26 in less than 40 days to protect the area outside that which is becoming United Nations Land in Glasgow. There is a Road Fuel Tanker Delivery Driver Shortage and saying do not panic buy has people panic buying, and queues have people joining them. ....................................... As it is 'if' E10 is giving lower MPG / Fuel Efficiency people need fuel more often and tankers need to do more driving to deliver more fuel than pre September. That is if people drive the same as they did when they used E5. Hopefully those queuing at filling stations are using Stop/Start. ....................................................................................... Grant Shapps / aka Michael Green is not a pleb.

Diesel Jerry Can OK to use for Petrol?
People warn about Venting Petrol cars and then not using the extra fuel added and then leaving to sit through heat and cold cycles and pressure changes and the expansion risk. Exactly the same applies with 'filling / brimming' or near brimming unvented containers with fuel. Especially decades old metal containers, sometimes older than those that are going to be keeping petrol in them. There are some right rusty inside crap Jerry or Petrol cans about. Especially ones that had more hygroscopic fuel in them like non Winter Grade Petrol or Diesel for a long time. Sealed cans should not get condensation inside, but open ones with petroleum ones stored and it can be surprising how much H20 can be in there. Be aware that E10 petrol as sold now in the UK is quite hygroscopic and not great to store for long. Brace yourself, but this will not hurt!

Code out brake lights on autohold?
@TeirDo you have a manual or a DSG and do you have Stop / Start switched off so that your engine is always running when stationary? I do wish people would call them e-Brakes or Parking Brakes as Hand Brakes do still exist on some new Skodas like Scala, Kamiq & the soon to arrive Fabia Mk4.

Code out brake lights on autohold?
But AUTOHOLD is so good and applies the front and rear brakes and with a DSG you can just leave in drive and stop / start enabled or not. Sorry no idea how to code out. That was asked in a General Maintenance post a few years back. Not all VW group vehicles do have the brake light on with AUTOHOLD as confirmed in a couple of threads I started. Some adult that knows there R,s and elbow will be along hopefully. Applying the E-parking brake is an option. Obviously long since not a Hand Brake, more a finger operated brake. Thank goodness for modern stuff sometimes, other times it can be a PITA. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/433302-auto-hold-brake-lights http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/438223-didnt-realise http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/455234-auto-hold

Service Plan
Not usually unless your Service Plan does cover it. There are different levels of service plan that even include DSG OIl Changes & Haldex. Then there are Minor / interim & Major ones that are Oil & Inspection Services and a Pollen Filter replaced if you are lucky.

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
Easily purchased in small quantities. eBay Amazon or others. PPF tape or sheets Or helicopter tape. From £1.99. Prep properly, dewax etc. Alcohol wipes. Also readily available. Or even nail varnish remover. Advice here from Kerbside autos. Car sprayer and refinisher retired, mostly. I Recommended using 3M PPF line, knife less tape. With the PPF you are applying.

Oil viscosity
Since we are talking petrol VW engines, that is VW 504 00 / 507 00. So the spec important is VW504 00. For a diesel it would be the VW 507 00. A TDI needing that be it on fixed or variable servicing. Those with 1.0 TSI,s and now with GPF,s got a car that left the factory with VW508 00 / VW 508 00. Relevant there VW508 00. That is the 0w 20 FS IV used to help get the WLTP / RDE and now RDE2 numbers that VW needed desperately.

This can't be right!
What is wrong there is that often the first sign of a dirty clogged air filter is a increase in fuel consumption. Dirty air filter and you are chocking the engine. Many are best with a nice fresh OEM filter with a diesel over a restrictive K&N or such supposed performance filter. The reason many use free flowing air intakes and cool air intakes is for performance. Yes you might get more bang for your buck and use fuel, but it is efficient use. The engine running well and you are only using half the available HP / Nm on UK Speed Limit roads anyway. All works well when you are using coasting where that is available with your vehicle, up to speed and off you go getting good miles per litre. That how it rolls. Now the Oil is 0w 20 FS IV and the cold starts have much less of a penalty with a TSI with PDF.

Shorter journeys in a Diesel and colder mornings and a TDI taking 6 miles to have the coolant getting to 90*oC and around 15 miles to get the oil to temp is rather different from a TSI. I ran a 2016 SEAT Alhambra 2.0 TDI SCR DSG for 3 years and over 40,000 miles. Apples and Pears there with DERV vehicles. I know exactly when the Winter Grade Diesel arrived at the filling stations i used and how the efficiency changed. It did not drop if the temp at the start of October was the same as at the end when Winter Grade diesel was in my car. I keep an accurate record of every purchase of fuel, price and miles per litre achieved, always have. Sad but I take photos to keep a record as well. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/455627-skoda-petrol-consumption-poor http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/457520-petrol-prices I very carefully and accurately monitor fuel pre First Winter Fuel delivery then the after the change and using it.. Also temps. and am doing the same trips several times each week at the same speeds and in the same time. Lots of Average Speed cameras, and trip from the Sea to the Mountains and Mountains to the sea indifferent seasons. I also do lots of journeys on the A77 at just above sea level along the coast at various weather conditions / temps.

Yes it looks like but is not a moped as you have to keep pedalling as they are pedal assist and have the limited speed below 16 mph unlike mopeds and 30 mph. No accelerator, just a Battery & electric motor to assist the pedalling & not a gasoline motor. No IVA, DVLA Registration, VED, Insurance for use on the public road or MOT required. Lots of Electric Mopeds around at similar cost or just a bit more that can be ridden by those with a Car Licence, or Provisional / CBT, Insurance etc. Not legal on Cycle Tracks / Paths etc.

Skoda Superb MY22 - Audio query
@Chebs No real information, just the various delivery threads of members that have already ordered several months ago and are being told dates like February, March & even April 2022. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/490411-delivery-times/page/28 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/490300-delivery-time-2021/page/2 Maybe they will gets lots of chips in and complete the vehicles bunkered which must of reached 55,000 when they stopped production for a week, then it could be full steam ahead on the production line, or maybe not.

@Ecomatt How much cooler are you talking about for now with @Baxlin? What is your warmer temp for less dense and what is the temp you are talking about now for more dense, or are you just going to generalise? Cool dry nights with traffic free roads and dense air suits what i drive, nice combustion and efficient use of fuel. (A happy medium needed with EV;s though, mid teens just right for battery temps, and OK road surface grip, colder roads less grip / friction / traction) Disagree all you like but i know exactly how much fuel i use in a petrol or diesel every summer autumn winter and spring that i run vehicles during for a good number of years as they are keepers. I know what difference tyre pressures make, tyre types make, wet or cold weather and warm or hot weather. So real world spending my money running vehicles and knowing the MPG of every vehicle i have owned since the 1970's. Mopeds, Bikes, Trikes, Cars, Vans, Campers. I have used Leaded, Unleaded, Super Unleaded, 100 ron, 102 & 107 ron, alcohol, LPG, Diesel, Premium diesel, and Bio over the decades. I do understand the science, but then i still buy the fuels or fill the tanks, i know what the fuels actually are while many are clueless to the octane they are buying. Sometimes i run the vehicles on the dynos with nice cool air blowing. http://aet-turbos.co.uk/turbochargers-a-beginners-faq http://aet-turbos.co.uk/turbos-and-temperature-summer-weather-and-turbocharger-performance

No place that cool in the UK yet apart from the other night around the Scottish Borders. No extra time needed to defrost or get coolant and oil up to temp. Nice ambient temp for cars with a turbo / intercooler so that energy is not wasted having to cool a engine down to an efficient temp.

Diesel Jerry Can OK to use for Petrol?
It certainly is not BS that there are filling station staff that will stop the pump if they see you using a container they think is not a petrol can or is bigger than 10 litres. Someone must have told them not to allow it. https://www.hse.gov.uk/fireandexplosion/petrol-storage-club-association.htm Famously a Government minister talked BS in the past. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17545258 Weird how official info changes from what it has shown for years other places.

Be aware if EV charging in Scotland next week chargers may not be available. 'Charge Place Scotland' / Swarco / Evolt. Change over next week starting Monday 26th July.
More good news is that when the APP does not work or the Charge Place Scotland Card you can now just use your Debit / Credit card. Obviously only where and when that is working as not all chargers are able to. But it is good to tell people they need not be stuck other than when they are and when you get through to a Call Handler they say there is communication faults.

4 Rapids. 2 not working , one failing to start & one Red Light, out of service, and 1 person charging. I go on the one CCS available. Then call Charge Place Scotland who say the 2 not working are showing as in use. Just by coincidence or chance up pulls a SWARCO Employee. Maybe not a Tech person, no mater if they are as 'Not on their list', so up pulls another, passing by then away. So first one charges their car on the one without the CCS available, but uses the Chademo. So charger is working, and works after they leave. The CCS was not locked in as not right in the holder, but worked locked in when i gave it a jiggle. I called ChargePlace Scotland again just to ask if the Employee can not check the charger 3 along since there is a fault. No they can not unless there is 'A ticket' and it is on their list. This is the issue really, if not their job, if they are not a Tech but have some other function surely being at a site for an hour charging they could at least check a charger. Too much to ask really. ..................... Good news for me is the person that has Trolled me on Plugshare for months when i reported faults has deleted their Plugshare account today after i had been charging and posted on Plugshare about charger faults and 'Not on list'. Last time was at the weekend as the system was really bad and call responses for those having problems, that has them telling me what a greedy sad sod i am expecting everything for free and driving a crap car. They called me 'BOLD metal micky', 'blade runner'. Said to watch out for magnets. LOL. Coincidence. Previously the trolling was about me complaining on the attitude of maintenance employees and the poor performance of CPS & SWARCO / e-Volt.
