  1. @somean49 Is it the right oil for a TSI? Spec is to VW502 00 for fixed oil and filter service intervals. 5w 40 FS, Or VW 504 00 / 507 00 for a Fixed or Variable oil service interval, 5w 30 FS III (Long life oil.)
  2. Maybe it does, but then what age was the 1.4 TSI and what is the 1.8 TSI. Was the 1.4 TSI a euro 5 and 150 ps and is the 1.8 TSI 180 ps?
  3. @Graham Butcher People are not going to generally are they. When the Chips are down, Chip Pan fires are common. EV Fires and Car Ferry fires are not. There is an issue. People do not RTFM. There is an issue, as well many people can not get in the front from the rear. Some can not even get out of their car from the front when they are driving into a flood.
  4. @BigTony Did it actually have a FULL MAIN DEALERS SERVICE HISTORY? So including the stuff not done to the Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines, Schedule or Specifications, and not just a list of when the car was in to be Serviced, and possibly not properly. Skoda Approved Used Cars can often have stuff that is overdue still not done and yet given a warranty. A not accurate list, and even if followed it requires the Tech to do the job, or check the likes of filters. Plenty Customers do not want to pay them for parts.
  5. Drivers of Potential Death Traps be them ICE or BEV should check how things are with their cars and make sure that they or passengers can escape that vehicle is electrics fail and even out of the back doors from within even if the Child Locks are on.
  6. @EnterNameIt means in your case that really the subject is of little consequence to you personally, and it is really just messing about trying to get a rise out of people. Do you need me to explain what Getting a rise out of people means?
  7. @rit Maybe say what engine and gearbox you have, size of a TSI, Manual or Dry or wet clutch DSG. Just because different drivetrains do it different. Then ECO, or ACT,s cylinder deactivation, then Coasting as disengaging from being in gear with a DSG. (Diesels different again.)
  8. @EnterName Heavy lifting? It is just people turning way from the car and locking it with animals or a passenger and just not thinking. Maybe the windows down a bit, maybe not. Who gives a monkeys what you have ever done unless you have been locked in an EV as it was driven into a flood or went on fire, or was locked by a driver in error, or even as a joke. I have never been locked in a car but i did lock someone in once and went into the hotel and never heard the car alarm going off. They were very angry. Not as angry as the next time i did it on purpose.
  9. @Graham Butcher I am mocking you and others that continually go on about a known known. The experts and non experts that seem to think if you keep saying something is unsafe is making the slightest difference. Jaguar EV of a certain age are being scrapped and other others will be, and people will look for compensation and still while this goes on the risks are what they are.
  10. What is confusing @Graham Butcher You said that 'it can not be denied.....' I asked who is denying? EV-fire-risk_report.pdf
  11. @Graham Butcher Are there any deniers. Are they half daft, & who are they? What there are is lots of people that are very very very concerned about the issue. Holy camoly they are worked up! What a pity anything they say or do makes not a jot of difference to how things are being done.
  12. & yet cars parked in Airport car parks, or car parks, garage forecourts, on streets etc might have condensation inside and might not. Same location, same weather and having been driven or not. I have had cars over the years that never needed the glass inside dried out. The last like that was a 2003 Volvo.
  13. The point about diesel being more difficult to set alight is very relevant. But then the amount of diesel vehicles that have been on fire is not insignifecant. Even if set on fire on purpose using an accelerant like petrol, or just electrical issues, the battery or something else. Like the Skoda's members on here have had go on fire but not total losses. Well write offs, but not destroyed. @Graham Butcher Yes the key fob needs used to double lock, or the keyless walk away. & no not all can be opened from inside with the handle. You have a Skoda, try locking someone in it. ? Any figures yet for EV,s on fire in the UK so far into 2025? Or fatalities in EV fires in 2024.
  14. For more than a couple of decades we have cars that anyone double locked in can not even get out of the car without breaking a window or sunroof. Or anyone in to get them. Groundhog day here again. Does nobody read the threads they pop in and out of, and use the brains they were born with?
  15. @Woody37 since you know the Oil Level checked cold, you can check it as per owners manuals. Only 1.2 44 kW VW Engines are checked cold. they have a 2.8 litre capacity. So next time the oil is at normal operating temperature so about 90*oC indicated check once stopped on the flat and after 4 or 5 minutes. (Skoda / VW say a few minutes.) Where is the oil now showing?
  16. @J.R. you just posted a quote were i was posting about a GPF so petrol cars, not DPF, diesels.
  17. That thread with the screen shot was just to show someone with a Brand New car having a flaky over a GPF. No issues there if an issue. Return or reject car. Or they can fix it after saying never seen that before, The linked thread is for the video. The members cacking themselves about a GPF and high RPM or odd behaviour started pre covid, and some after. Short drives.
  18. Everyone uses the correct / recommended oils, so no Wukking furries. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/525744-oil-type-related-to-gpf-gasoline-particulate-filter
  19. & yet there are those that have issues with not using that much, short cold start trips. Reporting high RPMs. But then we are now into 7 years since Skoda fitted and maybe it is just 1.0 TSI that will have issues, even though 1.5 & 2.0 TSI,s are starting to have. Best never say never. After all the cars having issues if any do will be out of Warranty. We will see what main dealers quote for a GPF replacement.
