  1. 'Salary Sacrifice' deserves a thread all of it,s own.
  2. Washing on and takes 38 minutes. Same time as it would take to charge. Handy if more charging hubs had 24 hour wash and dryers at them. see
  3. @Graham Butcher probably. & How many TESLA are out and about everyday in rain and floods? Let,s help keep him clothed and feed and living the life down under. (Google, Ricky Fulton. The Reverend I.M. Jolly.) Here.
  4. It is amazing, not. You get in a cold car and want to heat it up and it blows hot air in. Then you ask for a cool temp and it puts in cold air. It is nice in an EV. Cold car, cold air and ask for heat and without an engine even running you get a 2 kW fan heater blowing air into the car. You can even have dials with a temperature reading on them.
  5. Radio silence on the Tesla in Edinburgh that needed the new battery. Surprising since the driver and his partner have a Social Media presence and post on other stuff. Maybe some non disclosure arrangement. Lots of floods in and around the area and lots of Tesla but somehow not lots of reports of batteries needing replaced in Tesla.
  6. Lots of kidology about energy. The UK needs imports, while exporting lots. Export cheep and import expensive.
  7. @Graham Butcher Has there been an increase in Supermarket car parks or any car parks than has been common over the years and are these EV,s increasing the incidents? Most reported in the past might or might not have been automatic cars and people more senior in years. Those i read of seemed to be. PS. EV,s accelerators are really not like hair triggers or just need a light pressure to have them accelerating off into shop fronts or other vehicles. PPS Motability will know the statistics. They own the cars. It will be up to them to have a Corporate Responsibility and limit vehicles power or power to weight and performance. They do as far as vehicles available to under 25 year olds.
  8. Hampshire UK and Australia known for the similar climates. Cooling car interior down to 21-22 *oC or Heating it to that from not very cold temps might be a 10 *oC temperature change. The OP was heating the interior from about 5*oC to mid teens. 'Nice and cool but not too cool.' He was not asking for 21-22 *oC inside the car
  9. @lol-lol Just a small point. France bigging up AI and the Conference held this week. Energy Rich, Energy Cheap & they say they can produce as much as is needed.. Their Manufacturers can power factories cheaper from Nuclear. If batteries are cheaper and manufacturing of cars is cheaper and they can operate with smaller profit margins or no profit to meet mandates then you might get 'Much Cheapness BEV,s available from French Manufacturers. Maybe Stallantis can do very well because of France. The energy for factories are bound to be cheaper in France compared to in the UK. Even with EFD generating / producing electricity in the UK.
  10. Dynamic mode used to be in Mk2 Fabia Owners Manuals. DSG,/ DQ200,s from 75ps - 180 ps. . When some other drives your DSG it can then feel like crap. Demonstrators and used cars can. They have no brain but they are not stupid so drive spirited and it behaves spirited. ............. They say Automatic The Automatics were Tiptronics, and then DSG,s were introduced. This really applies to the DQ200 DSG / s-tronic as it they were for the 150-180 PS 1.4 TSI / TFSI,s (Twinchargers.) (Being able to Re-map the DQ200 was not possible at that time, and the DQ200 was used in 48 applications with VW Group and different software to suit the engines. I got my Software & uprated Clutch packs from Australia early on as i could.
  11. @Tilt Driving depends on many things. Just as well there are choices. As it is the OP has a 1.8 TSI with a DQ200 dsg, and had a 1.4 TSI with a DQ200 DSG. Apples and pears, oranges and lemons. 6 speed wet, 7 speed wet. or 7 speed dry. Petrol or diesel. @RattleWagon Cruise control has never ever decreased fuel use in any vehicle i have driven. 5 decades of driving Automatics, and pre and post the introduction of coasting modes. My vehicles or others and me paying for the fuel. Same now with EV,s. Cruise Control does not reduce energy ised.
  12. You get complete engines on ebay. BUT, not Euro 7 ones. So long story short, why or how did your engine seize? Who is going to fit the Replacement engine and do they not know where to get ones? ? You might get Rebuilds near where you and the mechanic are, but then we do not know where that is in the UK.
  13. In the Family we have AA Cover & RAC cover with our Banks / accounts. Works well with call outs, but obviously Location dependent. As can Greenflag or others that if you are in remote areas they might use LOCAL RECOVERY / Breakdown garages. As can often be the case in Scotland. Britannia etc. If nobody is near or available, or phone reception is rubbish, lots of breakdowns or weather events can make a world of difference.
  14. ^^^ Which is just what many want and need on Country Roads, Hilly mountain routes, hold the RPM and point and Squirt. Sporting / Spirited driving in Sport Mode. Works on other roads as well. Works fine if crawling in slow traffic.
  15. If the twosome just stuck to facts and actualities and stopped the misinformation that gets posted. It is the Payment of the Higher level of the mobility component of PIP that means you can qualify to LEASE a car from MOTABILITY. Using the money you get paid and can use for anything else and not getting a car. Where is it just about old ladies, it is old or young men or women, and not only DISABLED, it can be a designated driver driving and the DISABLED person maybe can not drive. Old ladies probably never started driving just when old, they might well have driven long before, decades before. They will have had to qualify for DLA or PIP Mobility component before they reached 65 years old to be getting a car from MOTABILITY now. . Rs FAULTY CARS, Motability (The RAC arrange) to get a car for you while the Lease Car is being repaired or pay for taxi,s or refund your payments. Someone feeds the idea that Car Dealers are fined £20,000.... Only Volvo currently available. £3,999 Advance payment and £75/75 a week, going to £29.20 a week in April. Twin motor not available on the scheme. Not being given, being leased.
  16. More misinformation from 2 crackers that vlog, and one of them talking 2 crackers. The facts get messed up with the various stuff said which is just wrong. £3,999 Advance payment.
  17. @lol-lol If that is what is required to sell for much cheapness then that is what you get. Batteries / Calls are still not cheap. It hardly matters how cheap the inside is if just going to be a fleet car / hire / car club car etc. Cheap replacement interior and exterior parts available to make used / hard used cars look new again would be 'Simply Clever'. Unbelievable that VW Group can not get out the long ago teased £17,000 EV,s. But then they could have kept going with building UP!MiiCitigo Electrics. But batteries are not cheap...
  18. Sidewall height is not really the issue. (Well it is here with the same size rims being used.) The difference in Total Diameter / Circumference is what matters.
  19. Yet the same engines / drivetrains from VW Group VW, SEAT, AUDI and even SKODA are 18,000-20,000 miles Flexible / Variable Service Regimes in some bumff. & a reset Service Indicator might well show 24 months / 20,000 miles.
  20. Cheap and i expect will be getting even cheaper if they are sitting going unsold as more and more get registered new and maybe just to Dacia / Renault UK and Dealerships.
  21. While looking at prices it is easy to look at size comparisons and see why some changes are just not on.
  22. He generalises lots. James that is. But also the Presenter who actually knows enough about EV,s. He has presented programmes with him driving EV,s. If nobody actually buys the cheapest most basic cars then you will never find a Used example. But DACIA will own ones and have in the UK the Dealers will own them and then people can buy as used. There will be ones sold to some people. Those just driving local & charging slow at home, work, or public might just want cheap, new Practical for their use.
  23. It helps if people say which country they are talking about as far as their car, or what country the cars are in / sold in.
  24. Get the Paint / Touch up from a supplier using the VIN. @OakSh Build Stickers stopped being fitted to many cars after 2016.
