  1. If buying new in the UK you can buy the 2 year Extension to the Manufacturers Warranty before the car is first registered and that is good for peace of mind for 5 years.
  2. @match14 What engine are you looking at getting with a DSG? Wet Clutch DSG's that have their oil changes at 40,000 miles are really very reliable. DQ200's maybe not so. There are issues that affected ones from 2009-2012, then another issue from 2013-2015, then the Slipping Clutch issue from 2015, then the issue that came with the WLTP introduction from 2018/19 with some DQ200's. VW Group are dropping DQ200's soon with 1.0 & 1.5 TSI's unless with Mild Hybrid. Before they do Skoda are bringing out the Fabia Mk4 1.5 TSI with a DQ200 DSG.
  3. The top end as in the vicinity of the North Coast 500 is likely to stay crazy from now on. You will be made very welcome around the North East Aberdeenshire / Moray Firth area which is not quite as crazy as some other areas as lockdown gets lifted. My place of Birth is Macduff and i am looking forward to getting up there soon, but the Electric Car charging iinfrastucture s pathetic there. The likes of Portsoy, Cullen and other coastal towns & villages have really become busy because of TV & Social Media articles.
  4. There are Independent Specialist with licensed equipment and that get Recall / Service Campaign notices and TPI's., Sadly for over a decade ago with Skoda UK there was 'Remove Wheels & Inspect Brakes' showing as part of the Minor & Major Fixed Price Servicing with Skoda UK Franchised Dealerships. As many know with cars that had FMDSH they might not be able to get wheels off after 3 years or even sooner because they had never been off since fitted at the factory. Prices & what was what with Minor & Major or Interim & Major pre Skoda UK changed prices and Menu stated in Jan 2020. For a few years 'Remove wheels' was missing from the Skoda website. Then it returned when 'Extended Scope' was brought in. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/451345-service-cost There were cars like Mk2 Fabia with rear Drums that had Remove Wheels and clean brakes or inspect brakes as part of the Service and had a report saying they had checked the brakes. They had. From the Inspection hole, wheels had never been off and neither had the drums. There have been Brake Fluid changes done when the wheels have not been off the car. eg Plenty similar threads over the past decade. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/440107-major-service-are-rear-brakes-stripped-and-cleaned http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/249418-monte-rear-wheels-seized-on-drum http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/234425-removing-wheel-am-i-missing-something-obvious There is a Master Tech on here that has commented previously on the Work Sheet not having 'Remove Wheels' on them but the Service Menu / Website showing that as part of a Major Service as they were each 2 years or now with the Extended Scope done with the 3rd Oil & Inspection Service.
  5. They do say 'remove wheels'. Well if they do then they can change wheels from front to rear and rear to front and not charge more the the £60 they are taking for the Extended Scope workshop actions. Really you are getting the oil main dealers use. So that was Castrol or Quantum and might still be Quantum from Fuchs. That is as good oil as you need just as from any other supplier producing to VW 508 00 / 509 00. Getting brakes actually serviced at 3 years rather than just a brake fluid change is Simply Clever. That is be the car doing high or low annual mileage. Servicing and maintenance is much more than oil and filter services or should be. Skoda do now offer different flavours of service plans with more included as the costs increase. The costs are really rather high. A good Independent Specialist is a rather good move where it is Old School Servicing being done.
  6. All a grey area. first 3 years really Oil & Filter changes at Variable or Flexible Service Intervals. Pollen filter @ 2 years. Rest is Inspect & Report. Diagnostic check. ***It is really 3 years / 30,000 miles on from the PDI / First Registration when the Servicing Extended Scope begins. *** The Screen shots are the Extended Warranties, so after 3 years in the UK, the PDF's at the bottom are for new cars, or used / extended warranty. To maintain the Warranty you have to Service the car to the Manufacturers Recommendations. The thing is that Skoda do not make The Recommendations very clear. Sometimes they are Guidelines but never Schedules. They say Service to Manufacturers Specifications. Try finding the Specifications in the Owners Manual or ask at a Service Desk. Try asking about Cam Belt changes or if the Haldex should have a pump or filter cleaned or the Specifications for the AC servicing. You can even buy a 3 or 4 year old Skoda Approved used car that has a Warranty yet not had the Brake Fluid replaced @ 3 years or the Haldex Oil or the DSG serviced at 40,000 miles, or spark plugs changed or a Fuel Filter. You can have a Service Plan or buy a car serviced using a Service Plan and yet the Main Dealers are not Servicing to the Manufacturers Recommendations if they are not doing brake fluid, Haldex or DSG servicing unless that is paid for as extra cost service action. 36172_SKODA_Approved_Used_Warranty_Dec20_SINGLES.pdf SKODA_Warranty_Terms_August_2021_New_Car-1.pdf
  7. Worth a google and a look at Trustpilot etc on the seller.
  8. @skomaz Mk4 Octavia vRS Estate, 2.0 TDI 4x4 DSG. Not within the budget new though at present. Then it is a DSG / Auto.
  9. Skoda UK have to authorise the Warranty Repair / Replacement. The Dealership is acting as your agent and dealing with Skoda. Skoda UK is in the wrong here and the Dealership are behaving badly. Read the T&C's and the exclusions. Read about making Claims on the Warranty. SKODA_Warranty_Terms_August_2021_New_Car-1.pdf
  10. The Spud stayed in my Picanto with the passenger seat back down. The Duo did need to go on the roof.
  11. @J.R.Might be able to advise. He did the importation the opposite way i think. UK to Continental Europe.
  12. That is a lie by them. Terrible Customer Services which Covid might give them some excuses for. Really not Simply Clever of Bristol Street Derby Skoda or the other place you went. Escalate the matter with Skoda UK and they can find you an Authorised Skoda / VW Group Repairer to have the car examined at and pictures taken and forwarded to them and they can arrange if they want an Area Warranty Manager to view the car. ? How many miles has the car done to have wear and tear like that on the Sill Plates and the Steering Wheel?
  13. I have had Kayaks on all sorts including my Original Mini, & on a Picanto. Had a Spud (Prijon Topolino) or 3 inside several cars. By coincidence this turned up while i was sitting in the sun charging my car. It does the NSL OK as far as i have ever seen.
  14. Your Warranty is with Skoda. Go to another Skoda authorised / franchise / dealership group to have a Warranty Manager inspect the faults. It does not need to be to be the supplying Dealership. Read your Warranty T&C,s. Tell Skoda UK in writing to get a resolution or communications manager to call you or to write
  15. A local Kayak instructor to me has carried his white water / creak kayak on his Citigo for a few years. just strapped on roof bars.
  16. The water pump / overheating thread is pinned at the top of this section. It is relevant to 1.4TDI 3 cylinder Euro 6 engines. First the Service campaign / workshop action but never a Recall was to change the coolant type. Nothing to do with TSI,s 1.0 or 1.2
  17. Sorted. Well hopefully. Great customer service from Aviva. The claim was still open but the claimant had apparently never come back with any evidence. So NCB will be reinstated and renewal go ahead.
  18. I received an Email from my insurer after 8pm when they were closed so can not speak with them until tomorrow. Premium exactly double last years. I went in and looked at my Insurance online and it shows i have an 'At Fault accident' claim from November 2020. This is the Accident that neither my vehicle or i were involved in because we were not in England at the time, my van was in the garage waiting to be retested for its MOT and the mileage at the test and at the retest was only 3 miles covered. When i talked to my insurer at the time i believed that they believed the information i gave and would not be entertaining any claim against me. So tomorrow the hassle begins.
  19. The reviewer i was hoping for being able to watch.
  20. @HeikeWelcome to the forum. Lets hope that Skoda Dealers in the UK have had more time available getting the workshop fitters, techs and master techs trained and qualified in EV's better than Sales staff have been familiarised with the vehicles they will be showing to potential customers and helping to order cars. @19.25
  21. ? Why would VW 'base' a new EV around a Polo seeing as they are the ones that are supposedly all about EV Platforms for EV's and not using something that is built to take an ICE? If the real story is about a Polo sized ID.2 then that might be the correct headline They Golf EV is so so. The ID.3 is not 'Based on a Golf'. The e-Up! / Mii electric does work as a EV but VW say they want to replace that with a EV Platform.
  22. @Expatman Likely because it was coming out or came out after that lot and also because they can only include 12 vehicles on a page. It is the Toyota Yaris 'Cross' that is there. Also not there are the SEAT Arona, Dacia Duster, Citroen A3 Aircross, or Kia Stonic with 180mm Ground Clearance.
  23. Honda gained, earned and keep a reputation for reliability. VW tell you they have a reputation for reliability but still have not after a century got the hang of procuring reliable belts, chains, tensioners or even designing door seals or wiring looms passing into doors. Their latest thing is an issue procuring good software or being able to create their own. By the 4th generation of the Fabia being produced and about the 7th version allowing for facelifts all should be as good as it can get for Skoda as far as reliability and being able to set out service and maintenance schedules for the UK as well as other World Regions.
  24. @Highlander19. I have the Thule carrier you posted. It is very heavy. So be aware just how heavy when putting on to the ball. Also for moving when off the car. The rack is not long (wide) enough for my own bikes which are XL frames and they have Fat Bike Wheels and tyres or Plus size tyres. The straps are in the wrong place as and not long enough. There are extras available. Extensions for the wheel rails longer straps and even a wheel for moving the rack. Ok for regular size electric bikes. There are cheaper options that are as good though. Edit. I bumped a thread on the Thule Rack in the Health Hub section of Briskoda.
